News We Don’t Want To Lose, And We Told You So *Open Thread*

Oh, this is so good. As the Democrats are running for cover, and Obama once again believes he can unilaterally change existing law in direct contravention to the Constitution, this video was released on Wednesday. It is a doozy:

Yep – Romney told us. Turns out he was right at every single turn. Honestly, I think he should use this to kick off a 2016 campaign. He can use each one of these issues for a single commercial. I’m telling you, I think he might get some traction on that. Oh, and he can highlight how after Obama absolutely TRASHED his company, Bain Capital, Obama hired Jeff Zients from Bain to be his top economic consultant.

And of course it is timely as Obama tries to provide political cover for the Democrats during the mid-term elections. Could the pandering be more blatant and obvious? And can someone – ANYONE – explain to me why in the hell it even matters what Obama says about this? He cannot make changes to existing law. He does not have that power. And he SURE can’t tell instruct companies to break existing law, as he is now trying to do with insurance companies. Check out what Rep. Trey Gowdy had to say about all of this:

He sure tells it like it is, doesn’t he? And not for nothing, they are following the LAW. How in the world can a US president instruct an entire industry to ignore the law?? It is just unfathomable to me.

But it is worse than that. As a friend of mine noted on Facebook, the states bear the brunt of this:

It will be up to the state’s insurance commissioners on whether they even go for this or not; you can’t(as of yet) force a company to give back something you ordered them to suspend for inadequacy via law, nor can your force them to sell a product; Unless Landrieu’s (finally I spelled her name right) bill gets passed, which will force the states to force the insurance companies in their state to do so; which will cause financial failure that is unimaginable, starting at the state level. This is not in any state budget, A do over!!! For the Feds. Actually if everyone had been treated equally, like special interest groups, politicians and unions this mess would not be happening, but this man would rather harm everyone, than to do the correct thing which has been offered many, many times over.

Absolutely. I think people lose sight of the impact this has on the states, and how incredibly difficult it would be to put this genie back in the bottle. Or as the head of the NJ Association of Health Underwriters put it, “This is a new insanity.” (H/t Helenk). That is putting it mildly, I think. He goes on:

I do not know how the insurance carriers and federal government are going to be dealing with this. First, many states require a 60-day notice of a change in plan or a cancellation. It’s November 15! How can they comply with this new element of federal law, and with their state laws?

Second, do they really think carriers are going to be willing to recreate the old plans, while also being mandated to offer the new ones that comply with the exchanges? I have a large number of clients, small to medium-sized businesses, who would much rather renew their old policies on 12/1 than sign up with the newly mandated exchange policies. Everyone is going to want the old ones! You really expect the insurance carriers to willingly deal with the financial loss and legal headaches of switching back? […] (Click here to read the rest.)

No kidding. If you want to read the letter written by CMS to insurers with Obama’s “fix, “click HERE. Yeah, I can just see all these companies revising everything they just spent three years working on to fulfill the law. Right.

One thing is for sure, it will be interesting to see how the House votes on Rep. Upton’s bill dealing with this very issue on Friday. Yep, surely will. Especially when one considers the warning Andrew McCarthy issues about this bill. From NRO:

[…] The GOP should not be working to “fix” Obamacare. That would just further tar Republicans as part owners of Obamacare. They should be working to scrap Obamacare now, while the political momentum is swinging to their side. Democrats are rightly starting to panic, so Republicans should be driving a hard bargain – push for repeal, settle for nothing less than delay. The last thing they should be doing is throwing endangered Democrats a lifeline to reelection in 2014. […] (Click here to read the rest of this excellent argument against the Upton Bill.)

No kidding. They had their chance to fix this, and rather than doing so, they engaged in their usual partisanship-stand-by-their-man BS, and refused to consider ANY legislative corrections.

But, in the end, it doesn’t matter what they do since Obama has already threatened to veto it. Yes, the White House considers it “sabotage.” Hmmm, maybe the Repiblicans should vote for it after all, but as the article points out, it could still provide political cover for Democrats. Uh, yeah – and that’s what it’s all about, right? Political posturing rather than doing what’s best for the country. Seems that way…

Well, I know there’s other things going on, but this lunacy of Obama’s does take some precedence, I reckon. But there is one more thing I must mention, and that is the recent closed door hearings with the Benghazi survivors. Obviously, the reports are cloaked a bit, but this interview with Rep. Devin Nunes was eye-opening:

WOW. Even with the veiled comments, one thing leaps out – the fighting was on-going, well planned, well executed, and clearly, the perpetrators had a tremendous amount of knowledge they should not have had.

And these men are heroes. Hopefully, we will know them, they will be able to speak out in the light of day, and they can get the recognition for who they are: heroes.

It’s the start of the weekend, and no doubt, after all the latest insanity perpetrated by this Administration, we could all use a break. I think this ought to do it:

Ain’t that the damn truth, though I don’t think anyone knew just how crazy Obama was going to be. And to think people were worried about Reagan and his Alzheimers. That’s NOTHING compared to the insanity perpetrated by Obama and his Minions.

Feel free to add your own tunes or comments or articles!

Note: As I mentioned, I am on vacation from Saturday, 11/16 – 12/1. I don’t get back until very late on 12/1 (driving all the way from Miami to the Charleston, SC area). HOPEFULLY, there will be a guest post on 11/22, the anniversary of the assassination of JFK. And, there will be a Thanksgiving/Hanukkah post up in the interim.

In the meantime, feel free to leave comments here, or visit some of the blogs in the blogroll to the right. If you have something you want me to post, just let me know in a comment, and I’ll get in touch via your provided email address to get your remarks (as a reminder, your email address shows up at your sign in – no need to put it in Comments).

new ad coming out this week

  2. helenk3 Says:

the backtrack bunch will never willing answer the questions about Benghazi. They would be held accountable for NOT sending help. I still do not understand how an unarmed drone could get there but one with arms could not. Maybe an armed drone sending a warning shot could have ended the attack and at least two of the four who were killed would still be alive.

  3. helenk3 Says:

    America after backtrack.

this article makes you think and unless some fundamental changes in thinking are made in this country we are up shit’s creek

  7. Katherine B. Says:

There is an excellent editorial by Byron York in the Washington Examiner that says they all knew about the coming cancellations, of health care plans including a complicit “news” media. Here is the link:

    • helenk3 Says:

maybe is it just me, but I feel that obamacare was a direct attack on the American people. The dems did this.
in 2008 many of us as we were driven out of the democratic party warned that backtrack would destroy the party. well obamacare will destroy the democratic party and they let it happen

  8. mcnorman Says:

The jerk banks on the msm providing distractions. Ugh! I really have to get to a better place in my mind. I always feel like taking a Chlorox shower after reading stuff like this.

  9. Cindyindie Says:

oh, Cuz—it’s a tragedy that Romney was not elected! He was so on target! And of course, Trey Gowdy is a terrific advocate for our side!

I really like Nunes, too, though I’d never really heard him before today. Very impressive!
We have some real all-stars on our team, IMO——–and I wouldn’t want to play Red Rover with the other side…Ha!Ha!! There’s NO one on their side we would want to “come over”..LOL
Thanks for the great post, as usual!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, there are some really good people showing up. I had not heard Nunes speak either until last night. He couldn’t say much, obviously, but it seemed pretty evident that he was upset abt what REALLY happened in Benghazi…

  10. helenk3 Says:

a couple of things that have more signatures than obamacare

    a death star petition

a petition to have backtrack do the hooky pooky

  11. helenk3 Says:

Upton bill passed in the house

  12. helenk3 Says:

    backtrack should resign over obamacare.

the writer assumes that backtrack has a little bit of integrity.

he does not. he could care less what the American people think of him. He has three more years of great bennies, mooch and the kids get the travel the world on our dime and he gets to put his feet on the desk in the oval office and play all the golf he wants. gets to showoff the situation room to his BFFS

  13. helenk3 Says:

    James Madison on obamacare

  14. helenk3 Says:

    a short rant

alan coombes is on tv with his usual drivel . the president can do what he wants.
well why does he not move to Cuba. Castro can do what ever he wants and coombes can be the male julia and be taken care of from cradle to grave as long as he does what he is told to do and thinks what he is told to think.

    end of rant

  15. helenk3 Says:

  19. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What great comments, y’all! Thank so much for the discussion and the links. Y’all are on fire today! 😀

  20. SSDD Says:

I read that Obama does not have the authority under the Constitution to do what he said he is going to do. We shall see what occurs. The House passed the Upton bill with flying colors….but as you said…Barry gonna veto it. That will nail that last nail I think…am hoping it does anyway.

I hope you have an absolute blast on your cruise Rev Amy….party and have loads of fun. I have an aunt who used to go on cruises and she talked about the endless food on the buffets and all the things to do…night or day. Live it up and make wonderful memories.

  21. Katherine B. Says:

I just saw this over in a comment on the WA Post so I don’t absolutely know it to be true but it is funny, so take it for that value alone. The favorable rating of the crack smoking drunken sod of a mayor inToronto is at 48 and Obama is at 39.

    Bon Voyage, Rev. Amy.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, Katherine! I appreciate that!

And ROTFLMAO – that was HILARIOUS!!!! 😀

    • SSDD Says:

That Toronto mayor is unbelievable…but at least they are making him a “figurehead” now….the deputy mayor is going to be in charge. Of course that would not work for us….Biden is VP after all. Things would just keep rolling downhill at breakneck speed. Geez…we are so screwed for the next three years.

  22. Katherine B. Says:

The laughs just keep coming. What does the government call health care plans that have been put in shopping carts but not paid for? Wait for it – pre-effectuated enrollment. (from an article on The Daily Caller)

  23. helenk3 Says:

  24. helenk3 Says:

    this should get interesting

  34. helenk3 Says:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL, thanks, Helen! We are really looking forward to this trip. Nothing like being out on the ocean, getting some R&R, eating good food, and going to new places. Fun!

  35. helenk3 Says:

  36. helenk3 Says:

    you won’t believe this one.

the fact that people are getting hurt by obamacare is not important. the insurance companies should have worded the letters so people did not realize they were being hurt

that swamp gas in DC sure is powerful

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

She is off her rocker. Really. That is just ridiculous. Yes, it is ALL the insurance companies fault for not telling people how LUCKY they are to be spending more money on coverage they neither need nor want. UGH, what is wrong with these people?!?

  37. helenk3 Says:

    obamacare deconstructed.

    remember these statements and pictures

  38. helenk3 Says:

    backtrack has lost SNL.

    great skit

fake ad mocking backtrack’s presidential depression

  39. helenk3 Says:

    ahh the government at work

it looks like they not only screwed up health insurance for the American people , they screwed up flood insurance too

  40. SSDD Says:

This has nothing to do with politics at all…lol…but this little fella is so cute I had to post it:

  41. helenk3 Says:

    just because

  42. helenk3 Says:

cell phone numbers go public next month
call 1-888-382-1222 the national do not call list to avoid calls from telemarketers

  43. helenk3 Says:

Just watched the liftoff of the rocker to Mars. maybe it is because when I was a kid that was science fiction that I still get awed every time.
just imagine what my grandkids and great grandkids are going to see in their lifetimes

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Helen, we ate lunch yesterday at a hotel on the beach in Melbourne so we could watch the launch. It was abt 5miles away. It was so cool to see it go up, but to then feel the RUMBLE a few minutes later. Fantastic!!!

  44. helenk3 Says:

Pope Francis is what I was taught to believe in for a pope

  45. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Just wanted to drop in from South Beach, Miami! I am sitting out on the balcony, looking at the ocean and the sun rising. Oh, in shorts and a t-shirt, I should say! VERY excited abt our cruise tomorrow, and we have been having a great time!

I wanted to remind everyone, too, of the upcoming guest posts this week abt JFK.

    Great *seeing* everyone!

  46. SSDD Says:

Well, well…the truth becomes known…slowly but surely:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And wasn’t Sebellius under oath when she told Congress in APRIL that things were awesome after that whole warning thing?

How abt the WaPo news, also something we knew already, that the Unemployment numbers were INTENTIONALLY fudged for the election?? Uh, yeah.

  47. helenk3 Says:

WHOA NELLIE 30 to 40% of obamacare exchange system still needs to be built including the PAYMENT SYSTEM.

WTH does that mean that really no one is really enrolled?

    • Katherine B. Says:

That’s funny. I don’t remember seeing that as a headline on the WAPost website or the NYTimes. Oh that’s right, they just love them some Obama so of course they wouldn’t want to call attention to this piece of NEWS. Can you imagine what this incomplete Payment System will mean come Jan 1st..

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Perhaps they need those 3 20-somethings who built a WORKING O-care site in THREE DAYS. Seriously – it works just fine, and didn’t cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Katherine, I know they mentioned it was in WaPo this morning, but I can’t find anything there. NY Post, Real Clear Politics, and a few others, but here is more from The Hill:

I must have misheard them – or they meant NY Post and said WaPo. So yeah, I think you are right – they wouldn’t publish something like that…

  48. helenk3 Says:

this awesome teacher stands up and shouts out

  49. Cindyindie Says:

Actually, there are only two reasons:
#2- It might interfere with a golf game
    #1- Lincoln was white

  50. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, my – you are funny! It is also just a tad curious since he claimed ALL these connections to Lincoln, and used his Bible – TWICE. But hey – he doesn’t need to pretend any more since he got re-elected. So now, it’s Lincoln Schmicoln.

  51. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Another beautiful morning in South Beach. I love that the man on the beach is doing the same thing I am from my balcony – watching the sun come up.
