Treachery For One, And Unconstitutional For Another? *Open Thread*

This seems to be the season for explosive revelations from books. Just recently, we had Robert Gates’ book in which he details the deplorable manner by which Obama and his minions regard our military, with “a disturbing lack of passion,“among other bombshells. The extent of what he has to say about this Administration is not even known yet, so it will be interesting to see what else comes to light about this Administration.

But there is yet another book coming out, written by The Hill‘s Armie Parnes and Politico‘s Jonathan Allen, about Hillary Clinton that is eye-opening. The book, HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton, contains a rather startling revelation, and that would be Hillary Clinton’s Hit List. The Hill has the story:

[…] For Hillary, whose loss was not the end of her political career, the spreadsheet was a necessity of modern political warfare, an improvement on what old-school politicians called a favor file. It meant that when asks rolled in, she and Bill would have at their fingertips all the information needed to make a quick decision—including extenuating, mitigating, and amplifying factors—so that friends could be rewarded and enemies punished.

Their spreadsheet formalized the deep knowledge of those involved in building it. Like so many of the Clinton help, Balderston and Elrod were walking favor files. They remembered nearly every bit of assistance the Clintons had given and every slight made against them.

Almost six years later most Clinton aides can still rattle off the names of traitors and the favors that had been done for them, then provide details of just how each of the guilty had gone on to betray the Clintons—as if it all had happened just a few hours before. The data project ensured that the acts of the sinners and saints would never be forgotten.

There was a special circle of Clinton hell reserved for people who had endorsed Obama or stayed on the fence after Bill and Hillary had raised money for them, appointed them to a political post, or written a recommendation to ice their kid’s application to an elite school.

On one early draft of the hit list, each Democratic member of Congress was assigned a numerical grade from one to seven, with the most helpful to Hillary earning ones and the most treacherous drawing sevens. The set of sevens included Sens. John Kerry, Jay Rockefeller, Bob Casey, and Patrick Leahy, as well as Reps. Chris Van Hollen, Baron Hill, and Rob Andrews.[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

Yes, Clinton had a list of traitors from the 2008 campaign. But there is more. The Hill has another article focusing on Sen. Claire McCaskill, for whom the Clintons had fundraised in a big way in 2006, there is this bombshell. From The Hill:

The ill-feeling between Hillary Clinton and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) was at one point so intense that the Missouri Democrat told a friend that she was scared of getting stuck alone with the former first lady.

“I really don’t want to be in an elevator alone with her,” McCaskill told the friend, according to the forthcoming book HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton by The Hill’s Amie Parnes and Politico’s Jonathan Allen.

The deep tension between Clinton and McCaskill first formed after McCaskill made remarks on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that struck raw nerves for both Hillary and President Clinton.

In 2006, McCaskill was debating then-Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.) on the Sunday morning political show. The two were in the midst of a campaign that McCaskill ultimately won, and the Clintons had given her strong backing.

But when the subject of Bill Clinton came up, McCaskill said, “He’s been a great leader but I don’t want my daughter near him.”[…]

As you can imagine, that did not go over too well with Hillary. McCaskill apologized to President Clinton, which he apparently accepted, but that did not clean the slate for her:

[…] During the epic battle that followed, McCaskill was a frequent surrogate for Obama, earning her ever more intense enmity from Clinton’s inner circle.

“‘Hate’ is too weak a word to describe the feelings that Hillary’s core loyalists still have for McCaskill,” Parnes and Allen write in the book.

McCaskill has been doing her best to mend bridges since then, most conspicuously with a startlingly early endorsement of Clinton for president in 2016.[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

How well I remember McCaskill claiming she was supporting Obama because she was taking advice from her teenage daughter. Her backstabbing of Hillary and Bill after they helped her seemed to be a common theme in 2008. That McCaskill is now singing a different tune doesn’t surprise me, though. No doubt she wants her name removed from the Traitor Rolls. Good luck with that.

But that is not all that is going on this week. At long last, it seems there is an opportunity for President Obama to FINALLY be held accountable for his un-Constitutional behavior. Specifically, starting Monday, the Supreme Court will be hearing a case about Obama making appointments when he claimed the Senate was out of session, but wasn’t. Here are the specifics:

The case being argued at the high court is the first in the nation’s history to consider the meaning of the provision of the Constitution that allows the president to make temporary appointments to positions that otherwise require Senate confirmation, but only when the Senate is in recess.

The court battle is an outgrowth of increasing partisanship and the political stalemate that’s been a hallmark of Washington for years, and especially since Obama took office in 2009.

Senate Republicans’ refusal to allow votes for nominees to the National Labor Relations Board and the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau led Obama to make the temporary, or recess, appointments in January 2012.

Three federal appeals courts have said Obama overstepped his authority because the Senate was not in recess when he acted. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

This is a big deal, and it will be interesting to see where the SCOTUS comes down on it. It also gives them the opportunity to demonstrate that they care more about the Constitution than politics. I am not holding my breath, but I am a little hopeful that finally, FINALLY, Obama will face the music for his actions, or at least some of them.

Feel free to discuss these issues, or anything else on your minds today.

Well written Amy…Our National politics has gotten far dirtier than anyone could even imagine. Sadly too many Americans just sit on the sidelines watching, not realizing how it will eventually affect them and their families. (Look at how many Obama supporters are finally screaming now that they are getting screwed by Obamacare).
For some reason it seems that it just fine to block bridges, sell political seats, give political donations to your baby’s mother, falsify papers and ???? if you are a Democrat or a useful Democratic tool.
However the moment the Democrats no longer need your endorsements or you are asking for too much, the Democrats will either fry your political career or like Fuddy you will meet an untimely death.
Christie made his political bed in 2012 and now he gets to fight with the slime he made the bed he made it with.

Wow—LOTS of great info, Cuz…Thank you!
I didn’t know about this new Hillary book until now. Veddy interestink!
Yes, I remember Claire McCaskill choosing Obama over Hillary…. and they way she bragged about it—
The funny thing is, a lot of those Dems supported him because of the “down ballot effect.”…They thought having a black at the top of the ticket would ensure greater turnout for the Dems; ergo, more votes for them in their own races…..
I’m sure many now regret that decision. Too bad.. It’s funny how some of us now can’t stand Claire AND Hillary…LOL!
Can’t wait to hear more from the new book!!

Thanks, Cuz and Kin – I appreciate it!

I remember McCaskill and her unqualified support for Obama, too – it was stomach churning. And apparently, it was because of her, according to this book, that we ended up with the likes of Janet Naolitano and Kathleen Sebelius in their positions. Awesome. But yeah – a grown woman taking political advice from her child?? Wow. And if the Republican in her state hadn’t been such a moron, she’d be out on her keister now, but no – he shot himself in the foot, and she’s still in the Senate. Ugh.

That McCaskill stabbed the Clintons in the back was telling, too, but she wasn’t the only one, not by a long shot. There is a rep in TN who did the same, Steve Cohen. Bill campaigned for him BIG TIME and told the largely black community there how great Cohen would be for them. And then Cohen supported Obama.

This book just came out – I am sure there is much more in there abt HRC and how she works.

I know, isn’t it? A friend and I were discussing that very thing at Facebook. That was how I started blogging and writing for NQ, for pete’s sake – my support of Hillary. I had NEVER supported a candidate like I had her, and I never will again. I learned my lesson, that’s for sure…

Chris Van Hollen doesn’t understand why he’s on the Hit List. I guess his being a jackalope in general didn’t occur to him (that would be my opinion, not that of the following article):

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Chris Van Hollen doesn’t understand a lot of things. Like truth, honesty, integrity and loyalty. I have no use whatsoever for Hillary Clinton at this point in time. But I do understand her have a deep and abiding hatred for those who stabbed her in the back. I hope Claire McKaskill is truly frightened. It serves her right.

My regret is that someone like her is still in the Senate. And that only because some dimwitted Republican managed to stick his foot in his mouth. She should send him flowers on a weekly basis because otherwise she would have been toast.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFL – I think that abt sums it up, Kenosha. He is such a piece of work. He wouldn’t know honesty or integrity if it smacked him in the face.

And yes – I can understand Clinton being pretty pissy at the people who stabbed her in the back, and there were a bunch of them besides those listed, like Sen. Byrd, Kennedy, et al. I am sure she and Bill were hurt by the way old friends treated them, or people for whom they went out of their way (hell, Clinton had just been doing stuff for David Axelrod and his wife for their child’s disability before David stabbed her in the back – seemed to happen a lot).

Yeah, that doofus could have taken McCaskill out of the Senate until he blathered foolishly. Though if memory serves, he didn’t lose by much, which says something. So, yeah – we’re stuck with her for a few years more.

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It seems that maybe – just maybe – those recess appointments might not stand:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Praying – crossing my fingers – rubbing lucky horseshoe from my first horse 62 years ago AND just hoping. Because this could be a sign, a small sign, that SCOTUS will not allow the lawlessness of this administration to continue.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, good idea – maybe I should get my horseshoe down, too! I really hope that FINALLY this man will be held to account, held to his oath, held to the Constitution. That a number of other courts have found Obama to be violating the law should make the SCOTUS take pause…

  7. Cindyindie Says:

Here’s more! I think people will view the ‘jokes” about Hillary’s enemies as mean, and in Ted Kennedy’s reference, in very poor taste……(and will not be well-rec’d by the Kennedys and their people)

    • Cindyindie Says:

      Here’s that excerpt:

According to the book, Clinton aides would later joke among themselves about those they felt had betrayed them: “Bill Richardson: investigated; John Edwards: disgraced by scandal; Chris Dodd: stepped down; Ted Kennedy: dead.”

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Are any of those “people” ones who danced for joy when Andrew Breitbart died?

As for Kennedy people – screw them. If Ted Kennedy had ever paid for the death of Mary Jo Kopekne I might have mourned him. Lion of the Senate more like hyena.

        • Cindyindie Says:

You’re so right, Marge—-Of course I, personally, don’t give a flip what Hillary’s aides joked about—-but there are those who do, and it may cost Hillary votes, which I don’t give a flip about, either.
But I think it’ll be fun to watch the pro-Clintons vs. pro-Barry duke-out the past.
I just PRAY that Injun Liz (Warren) jumps in the race, to really mess-up things!! LOL

          • kenoshamarge Says:

Oh wouldn’t that be fun – Fauxcahontus vs the bullet dodger of Bosnia?

And there will be the comic relief of Joe Biden if he decides to run. Buy popcorn and watch the fun.

On the other hand if the GOP keeps up the circular firing squad one of those above may slither into the White House.

If it’s Clinton please warn all the interns – just because Bill Clinton has snow on the roof doesn’t mean he can keep his pants zipped. And it’s been suggested that he will not always take no for an answer.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Cuz, I am sure that won’t be well received by the Kennedy people, and I am not surprised by the poor taste exhibited by these people. They have demonstrated of what they are made.

ROTFL abt “Injun Liz.” You know, it is ASTONISHING how much support she is getting from people, and in what high esteem she is held. I just don’t get it. She is a liar, and a hypocrite – yet they act like she actually has some moral compass. Astonishing…

      • Cindyindie Says:

Oh, Cuz, I totally agree about Warren…….that’s why a part of me (the sick-o cynical part of me, LOL! ) would LOVE to see a googd ol’ smack-down between Hillary and Warren! Oh, the fur that would fly!! LOL

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFL – yes, that would be something to see, wouldn’t it? Definitely popcorn-worthy! 😀

And really, I don’t get it. My uncle was telling me how his daughter, who recently graduated from Harvard Law, told him that Warren was one of the good ones. Now he thinks she hung the moon, and doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo that the Cherokees said she was NOT Cherokee. Sigh. Really disturbing how easily swayed people can be, and he is a bright man, an academic for many, many years. Oh, wait – maybe I just figured it out… Ahahahahaha… 😉

“WH refuses to release text of Obummer’s nuke deal with Iran”

“Iran will immediately begin to see “targeted relief” from the economic sanctions as soon as the deal begins, according to Kerry.”

“The $4.2 billion in restricted Iranian assets that Iran will gain access to as part of the agreement will be released in regular installments throughout the six months,” Kerry said in a statement. “The final installment will not be available to Iran until the very last day.”

“The White House is refusing to release the official text of the nuclear deal, despite requests from reporters and members of Congress.”

    • kinthenorthwest Says:

Is this legal–maybe not showing press or American citizens. But shouldn’t congress get to see it?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is unbelievable indeed. How can Kerry give money to Iran without Congress overseeing it? Congress controls the purse strings. I simply cannot fathom how Obama can make any deals that are not approved by Congress, as Kin noted. Something doesn’t smell right abt this (like so many things with Obama)…

      • kinthenorthwest Says:

How can anyone be in the same room as Obama—He has got to be smelling to high H3LL by now..

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

        Ain’t that the truth.

      • justine Says:

As Kin asks, how can the US be bound by something that neither Congress nor the public knows — only the Executive branch knows? Completely unconstitutional and illogical.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

justine, as a friend of mine mentioned abt this link at Facebook, the Senate has to ratify treaties, which was EXACTLY what I was thinking when I first saw your comment.

That is why when Kerry and the UN Ambassador make all these promises, they mean NOTHING until the Senate ratified them. That should definitely go for Iran. Really begs the question why we are giving them anything at all, especially when just yesterday, their leader laid a wreath at the tomb of the Hezbollah leader who killed 249+ Marines…

          • justine Says:

You’re right, of course, RRRA, but it still irks me that the Obummer administration has the nerve to say it.

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Quick answer – they can’t. Just one more lawless act by a lawless administration.

    • kinthenorthwest Says:

posted this at two other places —-Helenk and I are always doing that …

That I know. Still, always nice to mention from where a link came (and Helen often does). 🙂

There will be more tomorrow as they go through the 450 pages of this Top Secret hearing transcript they have. Sure will be interesting to see what else comes from this…

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I just saw the following article at The Hill. Now I get why excerpts of this book are being revealed, particularly the “Hit List” part. It’s to give Dems the chance to grovel to Hillary:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

And I’m sure she will forgive them and accept their endorsement. And remember. Because revenge is best served cold.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no doubt she will make them pay and pay. If she manages to get in (as you noted, with the circular firing squad activity of the Reps), she will have them jumping through all kinds of hoops to do her bidding…
