At Long Last, Some Justice (But Not Enough)

We have heard from Obama and the Democrats, along with their propagandists, the MSM, that so many of the major scandals facing the Obama Administration are simply “phony” scandals.” They are simply ginned up stories by those who have the audacity to actually report NEWS, like Fox.

One such “phony,” or one could claim, “lost” scandal, is Fast and Furious. This was really the first big scandal affecting this country under Obama. The intrepid investigative reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, broke this story a few years back. As a reminder, this was the program by which this government allowed thousands of guns and grenades to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. And, it is because of this program that two federal agents were murdered: Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE Agent Jaime Zapato.

After three years, at long last, the trial for the man accused of killing Agent Terry, Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, has coming to a close. All I can say is, it’s about damn time. Terry was murdered on December 10, 2010. Yes, you read that right – this happened in 2010.

Wow. On Monday, February 10, 2014, the man presumed to be the shooter, and convicted of murder, Manuel Osorio-Arellanes, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. According to this article, though, others were involved:

[…] The shootout erupted just north of the Arizona border city of Nogales as Osorio-Arellanes and four other men who are accused of sneaking into the country to rob marijuana smugglers approached Terry and three other agents who were targeting such rip-off crews.

Osorio-Arellanes was wounded in the shootout and was the only person arrested at the scene. Four other alleged rip-off crew members fled to Mexico. Two of the four are now in Mexican custody, while two others remain fugitives.

Osorio-Arellanes maintains he was not the shooter who killed Terry, and prosecutors agree that evidence supports his claim. Still, they say he is liable because he was a voluntary participant in the rip-off crew.[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

We’ll see what happens with the others in custody, and if they ever catch the two fugitives.

But here’s the thing. While they caught the shooter, have tried him, and have sentenced him, the people in the ATF who oversaw this disastrous program weren’t fired. Oh, no. They were PROMOTED. Just like everyone else in the Obama Administration who fails terribly (think Susan Rice). As you might imagine, the Terry Family is not happy with the conduct of this Administration, especially AG Eric Holder:

[…] Terry wants to know, if it is true that the attorney general didn’t know about the gun-walking operation, why no one has been held accountable, and why those involved are still working in the Justice Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

“Mr. Holder, answer me this, why are ATF agents and other agencies that were involved in Operation Fast and Furious still actively holding jobs and actively working?” Terry said.

“Why are they allowed to carry a gun and a badge? Why are these agents that were originally involved still making decisions on behalf of the American people which can put Americans in harm’s way?” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Excellent questions by Agent Terry’s brother, Kent Terry. While I am not holding my breath that we will ever get the answers to these questions, for the sake of the Terry family, I hope we do. And I hope that this trial coming to a close gives them at least a bit of closure.

But there is much more that needs to be revealed even still by the Department of Justice. It is far past time for Congress to do its job and either force Holder to produce information or hold him accountable. It’s the least they can do, and it is long, long overdue…

30 years is NOT enough. And sentencing one man when so many are also guilty is NOT enough.

Until all the idiots who thought “walking” guns across the border and into the hands of the vicious cartels are perp walked there is no justice, IMO, for Brian Terry.

I could not agree more – the ones who promoted this program and allowed these THOUSANDS of guns and grenades to walk into the hands of drug cartels should be charged, not promoted. It is OBSCENE that they not only still have their jobs in the ATF, but have BETTER ones since then.

I hear you abt the 30 yrs, though the family seemed good with it:Jay Dobyns, a retired ATF agent spoke after the sentencing

“They won’t receive closure until they have the truth and the answers. And as long as they are being protected and concealed and hidden behind protective orders, there’s no way for them to get that,” stated Dobyns. “I haven’t been shy about speaking out against my own agency. Which you know, in my opinion created a law enforcement horror story.”

Terry’s family also spoke out yesterday. A cousin of Brian Terry stated they do not celebrate the sentencing, but do believe it is appropriate calling it ‘basically life in prison’ for him (Osorio-Arellanes). There are two more suspects in Terry’s shooting in custody in Mexico, while two more remain on the loose.

until the backtrack bunch is gone, there will be no justice in our government. The promote the criminals and harass those who try to tell the truth.
It is going to take years to undo the damage the backtrack bunch has done to this country

Sadly, that is too true, Helen. Heaven knows, the man who is supposed to be upholding the law, Holder, is one of the worst offenders, especially since he is choosing when to and when not to apply the law. I sure wish Congress would throw him in jail for failing to respond to the subpoenas…

Jay Leno is gone and NBC has another Obama butt kisser in place. I am not surprised. I personally don’t “like” him and wouldn’t watch him any more than I’d watch the loathesome David Letterman. I actually do like Conan. I wish Conan well and hope Fallon sinks in the ratings like a rock.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yeah, no way would I watch him, and most DEFINITELY not Letterman. He’s another one who treats women like crap and everyone treats it like it is just Dave, that’s just how he is, wink, wink, wink. UGH.

I just saw a headline at the NY Times saying that Attorney General Holder is urging repeal of laws that prohibit felons from voting. His reason? It disproportionately impacts minorities. Here’s an idea; If minorities would not disproportionately commit felonies, then they could vote.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

For heaven’s sake, Katherine – there ya go using that logic again! Sheesh!! That ain’t how these people roll after all…

And yeah, I have frequently thought that, too. If the didn’t do the crime, they wouldn’t be doing the time (as they say). If they lose their right to vote after committing a felony, that is NO ONE’S fault but their own.

Holder is a disaster for this country…

the republicans have a good group of younger people in office. I am not sure if the main problem for the younger people is the old guard republicans or the democrats.

Gowdy, Lee, Cruz ,Ryan and some others get the people of this country. They understand the problems we are facing and are willing to try solutions instead of just whining about how they can not do anything

If the old guard were smart they would work with these people and encourage and be willing to teach them the ins and outs of the government. both would learn from each other and the people would benefit

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      That was HILARIOUS!!! Too funny!!

Yeah, and there are some younger folks running for office too, including a former Miss America, and a former Naval officer who was caught and interrogated by the Chinese for 12 days. He said he thinks some of the people in Congress just get overwhelmed, but after being interrogated by the Chinese, he can take on Harry Reid (this guy is in Nebraska, btw). 🙂
