Lies, Lies, And More Lies: Benghazi, ACA, And Birth Control Mandate *Open Thread*

Just in time for another Congressional Hearing on Wednesday comes some mighty compelling information on Benghazi. Despite all the numerous attempts by this Administration to sweep the deaths of four Americans under the rug under the guise of outrage over an obscure video, the Libyan CIA Station Chief is speaking out. And what the Station Chief has to say flies in the face of the talking points put forth by Mike Morell, the former Deputy CIA Director.

I know this is not a huge surprise to many of us, but that this is coming out the day before Morell is scheduled to testify before the House is timely indeed. As to the claims of the Station Chief, the Washington Times has the story:

Before the Obama administration gave an inaccurate narrative on national television that the Benghazi attacks grew from an anti-American protest, the CIA’s station chief in Libya pointedly told his superiors in Washington that no such demonstration occurred, documents and interviews with current and former intelligence officials show.

The attack was “not an escalation of protests,” the station chief wrote to then-Deputy CIA Director Michael J. Morell in an email dated Sept. 15, 2012 — a full day before the White House sent Susan E. Rice to several Sunday talk shows to disseminate talking points claiming that the Benghazi attack began as a protest over an anti-Islam video.

That the talking points used by Mrs. Rice, who was then U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, were written by a CIA that ignored the assessment by its own station chief inside Libya, has emerged as one of the major bones of contention in the more than two years of political fireworks and congressional investigations into the Benghazi attack.

What has never been made public is whether Mr. Morell and others at the CIA explicitly shared the station chief’s assessment with the White House or State Department.

Two former intelligence officials have told The Washington Times that this question likely will be answered at a Wednesday hearing of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence during which Mr. Morell is scheduled to give his public testimony. […] (Click here to read the rest of this important article.)

I would certainly HOPE that this will be a major point of contention during the hearing on Wednesday. And there is much more to this article, which I encourage you to read. But one thing is clear – again – the Obama Administration lied through their teeth regarding the death of four brave Americans, including our Ambassador, for nothing more than political gain. And that is nothing less than abhorrent. ( often has a stream available to view the hearings. It appears at the top of the page.)

Unfortunately, the lying seems to be the MO for this Administration as the leis continue regarding the number of people who have signed up for Obamacare (ACA).
The Administration is cheerleading having met the 7 million figure they set, then claimed they didn’t set, but now think is awesome, even though, once again, they are not saying just how many people have PAID for this coverage, or how many lost the coverage they wanted, or why it was that the vast majority of Americans have had their insurance coverage turned upside down for these 7 million (plus or minus – mainly minus – a couple million).

Here is the Obama Administration Spokesweasel, Jay Carney, high-fiving the Administration for this “success”. From The Blaze:

On the day of the deadline to sign up for Obamacare, White House press secretary Jay Carney did not know how many people who enrolled were previously without health insurance – a critical fact since one key aspect of the law was to reduce the number of Americans without health coverage.

“In some cases it’s hard to measure this because it’s kind of a counterfactual,” Carney told reporters Monday. After a long explanation, he later added: “So it’s a tough number to measure. But as we get more data, we’re going to provide the data that we get.”

After Obamcare was enacted, a number of Americans with individual plans came forward and said they were notified that they would be losing their health insurance because the plans were not compliant with the federal law.[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

Um, no – it really isn’t that hard to measure. Any decent software would be able to tell the numbers almost instantaneously. But of course, the Administration didn’t utilize a decent one, which is why the one they installed crashed repeatedly on the last sign in day.

No wonder Sen. Barasso, an orthopoedic surgeon, claimed the Administration is “cooking the books”:

That was not hyperbole on the part of Sen. Barasso to refer to cancer centers not being available on all plans. Just recently, our local paper, the Post and Courier, had this article, “Health Care Law Has Concerns For Cancer Centers; Hollings At MUSC Not Available On All Exchange Plans.” (MUSC, by the way, is the Medical University of South Carolina, and “Hollings” is the former SC US Senator, Ernst Hollings, for whom the Cancer Center is named.) To say this is troubling is a tremendous understatement. Having been a patient at Hollings, I can tell you it is incredibly important to this city, and to the state. That it is not included for many who bought into the ACA exchange is troubling indeed.

The final lie I want to address was told by Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL). From the Daily Caller:

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz found herself the target of a Washington Post “Fact Checker” column after the Florida congresswoman attacked Hobby Lobby’s Obamacare court challenge by claiming 60 percent of women use birth control for something other than, well, controlling birth. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Indeed, the WaPo Factchecker dinged Wasserman-Schultz for conflating information to arrive at the 60 percent number. From WaPo:

[…] Wasserman Schultz used numbers from well-documented studies but without the right context. In particular, the claim that 60 percent of women use “birth control” for something other than family planning is overstated, as the more correct figure is 14 percent — and the pill is used by less than one-third of sexually active women. (Click here to read the rest of the article and substantive facts.)

Uh, yeah – I would say that was just a TAD different – 60% v. 14%. ThaT Kessler, the Factchecker, only gave her TWO Pinocchios for that is a bit of a head scratcher. It couldn’t be a clearer lie, if you ask me.

These are just a few examples over the past couple of days. I am sure you can come up with many more lies being told by this Administration and its representatives. Feel free to add your own, or discuss whatever else is on your minds. This is an Open Thread.

“Counterfactual.” What the hell does that mean? Could it mean “lie?” Could it mean, “It doesn’t fit with the facts we want?”

I am so completely surprised that they hit the projected 7 million mark, aren’t you? It reminds me of how Barry got the nomination in the first place. People who supported him just kept voting over and over again until he had enough votes to defeat Hillary. But let’s just assume they actually have 7 million signed up and paid. Offset that with the 5 million who had their policies canceled and you get a net of TWO million. How hard is that to figure? Of course, you have to be informed enough to know about the folks who got kicked off their health insurance even though “they liked their doctor, liked their plans.”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Uh, yeah – isn’t that amazing that Carney said that? And thought that was an okay thing to say?? Wow…

Exactly, Katherine. Our entire healthcare system was wrecked for essentially 2 million people. That is assuming 7 million really did sign up, intending to buy. I imagine some were just people seeing if the system worked or not, and comparing prices.

It is patently absurd for them to claim they don’t know who has paid or not, especially since the House discovered the other day they DO have a portal that tells them that information.

Bottom line, they are lying through their teeth.

“Bottom line, they are lying through their teeth.” Bottomline, they always do.

I know, according to the cyncial and corrupt media that we are simply supposed to shrug our shoulders when a politician lies, it’s SOP and evidently acceptable according to their morals.

It is not acceptable to me. Nor to any other decent human being.

Bottomline? We need to rid ourselves of the liars in our midst – in the media and in elected office. Then leave it to them to rid the rest of government of the liars and cheats. To have some accountability for their misdeeds. And if they don’t – rid ourselves of them the next election.

I know, a dream. Because the fact is most people will vote for their team no matter how corrupt. And that is the biggest shame of all.

A friend just posted this video on Facebook, and I have to share it here. It was truly touching, and gives me hope for the future:

  3. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

The Hill has an article that just came out that the White House is claiming just over 7 million people signed up:

But here’s the kicker from the article:It’s not clear how many people have paid their first premium under the healthcare exchanges, though Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, quoting insurance industry officials, said 80 to 90 percent of enrollees had done so.

Uh huh. Then the other 10 – 20% DON’T COUNT as being signed up. Sheesh.

Oh, and check out some of the comments at The Hill article. People are not amused at what they refer to as The Hill’s misleading headline. One person (correctly) made this observation: LoneWolf chuckinva • 4 hours ago

7 million on the cart equals 5.6 million paid, which is less than Obamacare cancelled. Fail. […]

  4. insanitybytes22 Says:

I know this is a rhetorical question, but why birth control and not heart medication? Why are the only women valued in this equation sexually available and reproductively active? Don’t women have other, more costly healthcare needs? No! Birth control, the only health care concern a woman should ever have.

Naturally when this reality and the sexism, yes, sexism, behind those words starts smacking them upside the head, they start promoting this idea that BC has other uses.

In the ultimate twist of irony, they want birth control covered, but require a huge deductible for any life threatening BC side effects, like blood clots or strokes.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good question there, insanity. It does beg the question. It was nothing more than a major pander to women, and to ensure a voting bloc, just like the whole Roe v. Wade debate that comes up EVERY single election.

As I have said before, it is astonishing to me to see the same professional feminists who, just a few decades ago were demanding that women be seen as independent, capable, people who could take care of ourselves now incapable, dependent people who need Daddy Gov’t to take care of everything for us, including our sexual reproduction choices, something we fought VERY hard to take back for ourselves. It is simply staggering.

Yikes – that is just a tad ironic, isn’t it, abt the effects? Holy cow…

will anything really get done until after Jan 2017 about Benghazi? so far it as been all talk and no action, sound and fury signifying nothing.
I really wish for better for the families , they deserve the truth and for those who failed in their duty to be punished

  6. helenk3 Says:

This is an insult to the Pope

  7. helenk3 Says:

sadly this is not an April Fool’s joke

there is something mentally wrong with these people. they really need to get a life

  8. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I just heard Obama say they did not do a hard sell on Obamacare. Are you freakin’ KIDDING me with that??? He went on abt how they “didn’t have billions to pay for ads like some people did” (or words to that effect), and people just went and looked for themselves.

WOW. He is freakin’ delusional. And a MASSIVE liar. What a freakin’ liar!!!!!!

  9. helenk3 Says:

It is getting really creepy in this country. not a good thing

  10. helenk3 Says:

government can not handle 2 million civil servants and wants to handle how many American’s health care?

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

At least Jimmy Fallon is getting that this victory lap is ridiculous. Anyone who hasn’t learned math via the Common Core method can see that if 6.2 million people lost their ins. because of Obamacare, and only 7.1 million signed up for it, that is less than a MILLION new people who have signed up thus far. Oh, and apparently, there is lots of amnesia abt the original number the Dems touted. Sheesh.

    Here’s Fallon:

all the backtrack changes to obamacare are like using bumper stickers to hold a jalopy together

  13. helenk3 Says:

    isn’t this just peachy
backtrack wants US to pay 33% more to UN and other international groups

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No. Absolutely not. Not when there are “diplomats” to it like the terrorist from Iran now a UN diplomat. Or when countries like Syria are on Human Rights Commissions. No. No more of our money should go to the UN. We are bleeding too much money in taxes as it is…

  16. helenk3 Says:

ust heard the most dumb statement from a government worker ever.
mike morrell says he listened more to the CIA analysts then the CIA chief on the ground in Benghazi. Then he says the CIA analysts were not given all the facts to make conclusions.
That is like asking a mechanic what is wrong with your car and not telling him the motor has been taken out of it
    Is it just me?

  17. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

BREAKING NEWS AT FORT HOOD: shooters at Fort Hood, one has been neutralized, but there seems to be another. A couple of people have been taking to the hospital. Fort Hood is on lockdown.

I hope – HOPE – that this is resolved quickly. And if this is terrorism, the gov’t damn sure better classify it as such. It still infuriates me that they classified the Hasan terror attack as “workplace violence,” denying families and those injured their benefits. The government, which should have stood up for them, stabbed them in the back (insult to injury).

In any event, I hope the number of casualties are limited…

  18. helenk3 Says:

EPA tested deadly polutants on humans to push the backtrack bunch agenda.
ever wonder just how far they would go? well here is an example
