Shocking! White House Emails Pushed Video! Who Could Have Seen THIS Coming?! *Open Thread* UPDATED

by

Update at the end of the post.

Oh, I don’t know, ALL OF US HERE??? Yeah, what a BIG ol’ shock. The White House was behind pushing the bogus video for nothing more than political reasons from the get-go. And WHO was responsible for those emails? I bet you can guess if you think about it. I have written about him here a number of times.

Yeah. Good ol’ Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communication, is at the heart of this all. Remember when Rhodes encouraged Obama to drop Mubarak in Egypt, thus opening the door for the Muslim Brotherhood, the OUTLAWED terrorist group, to rise to power? Yep, what a swell guy he is. I am absolutely not one bit surprised that his fingerprints are all over this.

That said, as Dana Perino noted on “Special Report” Tuesday night that Rhodes is just the (email) messenger. Perino was certain it could not be someone in Rhodes’ position, that it would HAVE to be someone higher up, especially since a cabinet member would be spewing this lie. I suppose that could be, and she surely has more experience inside the White House than I do, but as the NY Times article noted by its very title, “Worldly at 35, and Shaping Obama’s Voice.” Maybe he crafted the BS political story, and maybe he just did what he was told. I reckon they will have to keep digging to find that out. I sure would like to know, wouldn’t you?

Regardless, the emails came from Rhodes. Jake Tapper has the story, Newly released Benghazi documents reinforce that White House was pushing that video was to blame, and is it ever a doozie:

New documents obtained by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch reinforce that the White House strongly argued that an anti-Muslim video was the reason for the deadly 2012 terror attacks on U.S. compounds in Benghazi.

This was done even though intelligence and diplomatic sources on the ground were more convinced the attacks that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in eastern Libya were carried out by terrorists and not the spontaneous work of an angry mob.

The new documents can be seen here.

The documents were not included in the initial set of e-mails the White House released last May which show the interagency debate over talking points to go to lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

These newly released documents include “TOPLINE POINTS” in question and answer form, prepared by the national security staff, apparently part of the briefing for Susan Rice, then the U.N. ambassador, in preparation for her appearance on Sunday interview shows.

During the debate over the talking points for Capitol Hill from 2013, Republicans argued that the administration removed specific terror references and stuck to an explanation – later proved untrue – that the attack was result of a spontaneous demonstration over an anti-Muslim film that was produced in the United States. There had been such a demonstration in Cairo.

[…]

The context of Rhodes’ emails is, of course, that President Barack Obama was in the midst of a heated re-election campaign where one of his talking points was that he had brought a steady hand in fighting terrorists, indeed that “al Qaeda is on the run.”Susan Rice’s appearances

The White House has long faced accusations that politics infected its response to the September 11 attacks in Benghazi, and officials’ initial insistence that they were not terrorism, but the result of a spontaneous demonstration. […] (Click here to read the rest of the article.)

And we were RIGHT!!! Yes we were! Yes we knew! Yes Obama lied! Yes he cared more for his political career than for the lives of American citizens attacked by terrorists!

Ahem. Yeah. We knew. We were derided for saying it (at least I was, especially by a loving family member), but we knew it was true all along.

The Daily Caller also reported on these emails. This portion deals specifically with Susan Rice’s appearances on the talk shows:

The goal of the appearances, said Rhodes, is “to convey that the United States is doing everything that we can to protect our people and facilities abroad; [and] to underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, not a broader failure of policy.”

In her Sunday appearances, Rice implemented the White House’s spin. “Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo,” she claimed on ABC.

[…]

The email is black-and-white evidence of deception and spin by top White House officials, who have denied since shortly after the 2012 attack that they tried to portray it as an out-of-control protest. In fact, the Cairo demonstration — which was not blocked by the Obama-supported Muslim Brotherhood government of Egypt — was organized to demand the release of a jihadi locked up in a U.S. jail.

Gee, funny how THAT was downplayed by the media and this Administration, huh? Oh, yeah – a total oversight, I am sure. Ahem.

The DC also emphasizes the impact on both Obama and Clinton of this bombshell email:

The new email is a problem for Obama, whose poll ratings are sliding amid his failure to block Russia’s advance in Ukraine, and his decision to lie about the impact of Obamacare on Americans’ legal ability to keep their preferred health plans.

The damning email is also a problem for Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time, and was responsible for implementing Obama’s foreign policy in Libya, following Obama’s decision to help kill the country’s leader in 2010.

Immediately after the successful attack, Clinton joined other White House officials in blaming a video made by an Egyptian immigrant in California. The video-maker was sent to jail for several months. “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam,” Obama told a U.N. meeting Sept. 25. […] (Click here to read the rest of this good piece.)

Truth will out, yes it does. One way or the other, it has a way of coming to the surface, even for Obama and his minions.

Hey, I have an idea: why can’t we have a recall election for Obama, huh?? Seems to me that if they can do it in states, we should be able to do it nationally, especially as scandal after scandal appears to track back right to the White House. Just a thought, but wow, would I sure love fore that to happen…

How about you? Feel free to discuss this or any of the other issues filling the airwaves today!

UPDATE: Here is Rep. Trey Gowdy discussing the revelation of the WH emails:

Uh, yeah – why did CONGRESS not get these the first time around instead of the redacted crapola they got? I think we know…

Obama lied. No news there. He’s a serial liar and has proved it time and time again. The media – you know, the people who are supposed to inform the public and be the bulwark between those in power and the powerless, chose sides and it wasn’t ours. They are, IMO, traitors to this country, traitors to their profession and traitors to the special treatment the Constitution gives them. If they had any integrity they would wither with shame. See no signs of withering so…

I know this youtube of Trey Gowdy has been posted here before but I think at this time it’s worth another look and listen. The man is one of the few politicians worth our respect. And it’s obvious he has no respect for the media.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I could not agree more, Marge. The media have abdicated all journalistic integrity and ethics to support Obama. Here is Pat Caddell speaking out on the media and its impact on our nation (I posted abt him before – he is something else):

Here is an extended speech he gave in which he says what you said: the media is “an enemy of the American people”:

And Rep. Gowdy is amazing. He was just on America’s Newsroom. Once the video of his response to the WH emails is available, I will add it.

      Great comment!

stole this from the crawdad hole.

I love the smell of desperation in the morning

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Bwahahahahaha – it is ABT DAMN TIME the MSM started doing just that! Thanks, Helen!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

He doesn’t seem desparate to me – he just seems to be obfuscating as usual. And it does seem to be making Jonathan Karl angry. Maybe a few more “reporters” aka White House Press Room Lapdogts, excluding Ed Henry of course, will start to get a little annoyed that this weasel stands up in front of them and lies through his teeth and they sit there like potted plants and allow it.

Jonathan Karl and Ed Henry seem like the only actual journalists in the room. The rest ask their silly little questions, like when Obama was in Japan about how he liked Green Tea. Seems like something from a grade school newspaper.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, there is a reason why I always refer to Carney as a “Spokesweasel” – because he is. What a piece of work Carney is.

Glad Karl kept pushing Carney, though – not to sound like a broken record, but abt damn time!!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I haven’t watched “Outnumbered” yet today Helen but so far I really like it. How about you?

      • helenk3 Says:

good show. they have some really smart women on FOX. they do bring a different prospective to stories. How many men would pick up on the Attkisson story?

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

If I may chime in, I like what I have seen of it, too. They really do have some smart women on that channel, don’t they? Impressive…

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Katie Pavlich is one smart cookie! Anyone who let’s her pretty baby face fool them is in for a nasty surprise.

I was all ready a fan of Harris Faulkner, love her and the “political insiders” . I like Kimberly Guilfoyle from “The Five”

Getting to know Jedediah Bila and Sandra Smith and think I will like them too. It’s kind of like “The View” only with brains and an abundance of good looks. And legs. And these are all relatively “young” women – they can go on to do bigger and better things.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I really like Pavlich, too. I was trying not to horn in TOO much, but I was thinking something along those very lines. She is smart, and tough. People underestimate her at their peril.

And Bila is cut from similar cloth, from what I know of her. I do not know Smith at all, but she seems quite bright. Harris is very good – she’s also a good reporter.

Just saw this and had to share – it is hilarious!

Or maybe I just have a warped sense of humor. 😉

  7. Katherine B. Says:

I’m moving into depression on the Benghazi e-mail revelations, I’m afraid. To quote our once favorite candidate, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” Will the media REALLY turn on Obama and actually start investigating? Will the Democratic Party acknowledge the political motivations behind covering up the terrorist attacks and our own inaction in the face of lethal threats to our diplomats? No and no.

    • helenk3 Says:

the msm seem to be getting a little braver now that it is the the 2nd half of the last term of backtrack.
maybe they realize that they sold their soul and got little but contempt in return and they better clean up their act before the next election

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

They are talking abt this very issue on The Five right now, and Eric just mentioned Jonathan Karl. He said Karl “is now asking the questions that Fox was asking” – so it only took over a year…

Katherine, I do understand, though. I don’t know if the media will ever fully hold Obama to account. There has been little evidence of it thus far, I know. Once in a while, there are outliers, like Atkisson, Tapper, and now Karl, but we also see how they are targeted afterward. Heck, the NY Times even came out and said how heavy handed the WH is on them for how they report news and if ever there was a lapdog for Obama, it’s the NY Times. So, yeah – who knows, but it is a move in the right direction. If nothing else, maybe the next Congress (2015) will do something abt it…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I think some of the media will now at least try to give the impression that they are “journalists” and not just lapdogs out of self-preservation if nothing else. A majority of the public has no respect for their veracity or fairness. As bad as that is for a politician, not to mention a president , I think it’s worse for the media. People more or less expect politicians, even presidents to be liars. And isn’t that sad?

And I think some, not many but some, like Karl are getting a little tired of being treated so shabbily by a White House they have helped in every way possible. I also think that Karl does have at least a modicrum of integrity and it may be that he, like Attkisson has to fight his own network.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Great point abt how the media is viewed, Marge. And it is different for the media compared to politicians. While they are certainly welcome to their personal viewpoint, they are not welcome to superimpose it on the news to achieve a desired result. That’s not news – that’s propaganda.

I agree that we expect them to be crooks, which is why people like Trey Gowdy are so refreshing – he actually DOES seem to care abt the law, and abt the country, not just his own political gain. Usually those folks aren’t trying to get to the microphone, but are just grinding away at the work. I can absolutely see Gowdy working to get to the bottom of this issue (and others) no matter how long it takes. It is just frustrating as hell that it takes so long to get the answers in the first damn place, like the WH redacting all of these emails until Judicial Watch came along (and thank heavens they did).

Good point abt Karl – I would not be surprised should that prove to be the case…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I feel much the same Katherine. Wil the truth ever come out? Or will we have to wait, as Trey Gowdy said, for him to find out the truth for our grandchildren. I suspect he means what he says and that he is a bulldog that will not quit. There are some good people around, they just don’t have the loudest voices or the biggest micraphones. We can only hope, and pray, that the truth will win. And for that we need for the GOP to take the Senate. Because the winners write the story and we know what the Dems will write into the history books. And that is unacceptable!

  13. sassyminor Says:

Politico reported that Wall Street republicans admit, in private, that they are prepared to contribute money to Hillary or Jeb in 2016.
They also reported that, following the Cliven Bundy uproar, Harry Reid’s security detail has been increased and an investigation has begun into threats against him.
Fox News consistently manages to insert photos of the Koch brothers with every story they do about Reid. Coincidence? I think not.
The effort to unseat judges on the state Supreme Court in Tennessee is financed by the Koch brothers, meaning that republicans here are bought and paid for. It also explains some of the changes in proposed legislative acts.
I’ve been interested in current events, which often include politicians, since my teens. The combined terms of Clinton, Bush, And Obama total nearly a quarter-century of discord. It has taken a toll on this country, and I certainly feel older.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

If you could provide links when you quote a source, Sassy, it would be helpful.

And I disagree – it isn’t that Fox gratuitously inserts the Koch Bros, but that REID brings up the Koch Bros repeatedly on the Senate floor, a heinous act for the Majority Leader to target private citizens, but one which provides him safety from being sued.

The Brothers are much, much farther down the list of donors (59) than the top Dem. donors, who claim many of the top spots (unions, specifically):http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2014/02/evil_koch_brothers_just_59th_on_top_political_donation_list.html

I am not defending the Koch Brothers, though they do donate ton of money for cancer research, which I appreciate. But to target them when people like George Soros and the CA Billionaire dude who opposes Keystone have a tremendous amt of influence throughout the gov’t go unacknowledged is a bit disingenuous to me.

What is the deal in TN? After your comment, I tried to look up what you said, and saw that there is a move afoot that is bipartisan in nature to back a Constitutional Amendment (http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2014/apr/30/parties-unite-on-picking-judges/). Is that to what you are referring? Just trying to get some clarification since I know nothing abt this issue. 🙂

I agree, the past 25 yrs have taken quite a toll on this country. It is truly disheartening…
