So This Is What It Takes To Get Hollywood Riled Up (And Other News) *Open Thread*

by

Finally, there is something that has broken through into the hearts and minds of the Hollywood Elite, and I don’t mean more dopey “Hope and Change.” No, this matter hits them right where they live, and it has sparked both Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres into action on an issue that has been a concern to us regular people paying attention out here.

Just what would that galvanizing issue be, you might ask? Well, the Sultan of Brunei owns the Beverly Hills Hotel, among others. Okay, so what of it? That would be something the Brunei government has declared. From HuffPo:

[…] The Motion Picture & Television Fund joined a growing list of organizations and individuals Monday refusing to do business with hotels owned by the sultan or government of Brunei. They’re protesting the country’s new Islamic Shariah criminal law that calls for punishing adultery, abortions and same-sex relationships with flogging and stoning.

The Motion Picture & Television Fund says it won’t hold its annual Night Before the Oscar party at the hotel as it has for many years.

“We cannot condone or tolerate these harsh and repressive laws and as a result support a business owned by the sultan of Brunei or a Brunei sovereign fund associated with the government of Brunei,” the fund’s directors said in a statement.

Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who owns the Beverly Hills Hotel, has praised his country’s new laws as a “great achievement.”

“The decision to implement the (Shariah penal code) is not for fun but is to obey Allah’s command as written in the Quran,” the sultan said last week. […]

Alrighty then. Since y’all are well informed folk, you already know about Sharia Law, how horrible it is for women, girls, and gays. But just in case you nned a little refresher, you can check out this article, “Top Ten Reasons Sharia Law Is Bad For All Societies.” Here are a few, um, highlights:

[…] 5. Islam commands that homosexuals must be executed.

In February 1998, the Taliban, who once ruled in Afghanistan, ordered a stone wall to be pushed over three men convicted of sodomy. Their lives were to be spared if they survived for 30 minutes and were still alive when the stones were removed.

In its 1991 Constitution, in Articles 108—113, Iran adopted the punishment of execution for sodomy.

In April 2005, a Kuwaiti cleric says homosexuals should be thrown off a mountain or stoned to death.

On April 7, 2005, it was reported that Saudi Arabia sentenced more than 100 men to prison or flogging for ‘gay conduct.’

These homosexuals were lucky. Early Islam would have executed them, as these hadith demonstrate.

Ibn Abbas, Muhammad’s cousin and highly reliable transmitter of hadith, reports the following about early Islam and Muhammad’s punishment of homosexuals: . . .

[…]

4. Islam orders unmarried fornicators to be whipped and adulterers to be stoned to death

24:2 The fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. [This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime (illegal sex), but if married persons commit it (illegal sex), the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah’s law]. (Hilali and Khan).

[…]

An Iranian woman charged with adultery faces death by stoning in the next five days after her death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court last month. Her unnamed co—defendant is at risk of imminent execution by hanging. Amnesty International members are now writing urgent appeals to the Iranian authorities, calling for the execution to be stopped.

She is to be buried up to her chest and stoned to death.

This gruesome hadith passage reports that a woman was buried up to her chest and stoned to death:

And when he had given command over her and she was put in a hole up to her breast, he ordered the people to stone her. Khalid b. al—Walid came forward with a stone which he threw at her head, and when the blood spurted on his face he cursed her . . . (Muslim no. 4206)

[…]

3. Islam orders death for Muslim and possible death for non—Muslim critics of Muhammad and the Quran and even sharia itself. […] (Click here to read the rest of this informative, and disturbing, article.)

Ruh roh. Ahem. Oh well! Criticize it I will. It is abhorrent, plain and simple. And I am delighted that some of the folks out there in Hollywood are starting to clue in to what a despicable institution it is without making excuses for it. Below is a good video regarding the protest. Despite the computer voice recounting the news, it does have the text printed on the screen, so one need not even turn on the volume:

Yeah, it’s about damn time those folks got a clue…

Two more bits of news before I close, both of which were included in the comments on my last post. This one is another clue as to why this Administration just may have been stonewalling a bit on releasing documentation on the whole Benghazi affair, “Why was a Suspected Muslim Brotherhood Spy Copied on the Benghazi ‘Smoking Gun’ E-mail?”(h/t Helen). I think the headline pretty much says it all. But why in the HELL would someone with Muslim Brotherhood connections even have a seat at the table in an American Administration?? That’s the question.

The second one comes via Kenoshamarge, and has me so mad, I can barely speak. How I regret all of the time, energy, and money I gave to this woman believing she actually gave a damn about women and girls:“Hillary’s State Department Refused to Brand Boko Haram as Terrorists; Under Hillary Clinton, the State Department repeatedly declined to fully go after the terror group responsible for kidnapping hundreds of girls. Make sure you read the entire article.

Okay – your turn. I’m too mad to say any more…

Given the desperate spin the Dems are doing, as Greg Gutfeld said “if Jay Carney spun any harder he’s strike oil”, I believe there is more to find. And I believe that Trey Gowdy is the man to find it.

The media and the left will do everything in their power to see this doesn’t happen. But boy howdy, if it does, he not only gets the truth for the families of the fallen, and the decent citizens who actually want to know the truth, he will put the hurt on the credibility of the left and the lefty media real bad. And I can hardly wait for that to happen.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I agree, if anyone is going to get to the bottom of this, it will be Gowdy.

And Carney, UGH – I cannot stand that man. He cannot help but lie, lie, and lie some more. Funny abt the oil well comment – that Greg, what a hoot!

  6. GinaR Says:

Yeah, because prior to adopting new Sharia laws, Brunei was a bastion of human rights for all. While I’m glad the Hollywood elite are finally taking notice, they’re a day late and a dollar short.

The MB sits at the table of this administration because we have a Muslim-raised president. Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff and long-time aide, Huma Abedin, has direct connections to the MB as well.

Speaking of Hillary, she’s as rotten as they come. She’s mired as deeply into corruption as any of them, and she’s the epitome of hypocrisy. I also regret all the time and money I spent on her.

Those are my thoughts. I could rant and rave, but it will get me nowhere. And I’m so angry at all of this, I don’t know if I could even find the words that would make sense.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Gina, you hit the nail on the head. And yeah, I guess it was easy to ignore what Brunei was already doing because maybe they weren’t so, um, I dunno, shouting it from the rooftops, maybe? Anyway, if most of the people now protesting had bothered to educate themselves more, perhaps they wouldn’t have been so keen to support these hotels in the FIRST damn place.

I know – you are so right – from Huma to Obama demanding the presence of the then-and-again outlawed Muslim Brotherhood at his Cairo speech, to the VA mosque given major recognition despite its aiding and abetting of 9/11 hijacker terrorists and on it goes, it is clear that our gov’t has failed us in drawing, and maintaining, those lines. Every time I hear CAIR speak out, and see their influence within DC, it makes me want to scream – they are HAMAS-affiliated. What more do these people need to know?? Then again, someone like Sec. Kerry clearly would not give a damn…

And Clinton. When I saw that article abt the State Department and the Haram ISLAMISTS (the rest of their name), with her 2 yr refusal to correctly categorize them as terrorists, I just could not believe it. Heck, I heard this morning that they are too radical even for AL QAEDA!!!! But the State Dep’t turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the reality of what this group was, and now hundreds of children have paid the price.

Btw, Kirsten Powers made a great point last night on Special Report. She said of course we should be concerned abt these children, and getting them back. BUT, she said, there are over 100,000 children caught up in sex trafficking in the USA. Why aren’t we as concerned abt THEM, she opined…

So yeah – I understand completely your anger. RIght there with ya, sister…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I really have had no respect for Hillary Clinton for a long time. But after reading that article I was beyond disgusted. She pretends to be the spokesperson for women’s rights. Bull$hit! She’s the spokesperson for Hillary Clinton! We all should have seen through her long before we did. When she attacked the women who were preyed upon by her predator or a spouse instead of giving him the Lorena Bobbit treatment he deserved!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Excellent comment, Marge. I could not agree more. She is there for herself, not for others. And those women who are willing to excuse all of her policy decisions, actions, or lack thereof, are no better, IMO, than the people who blindly voted for Obama despite his lack of record initially, or the crappy one on which he ran in 2012. They are of the same mindset to me.

And yeah, I reckon we should have. But we see now, so there’s that.

some really good questions on why was there no outcry over what these sick animals did before they kidnapped the girls in Nigeria

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

They are discussing this very issue on The Five, and that is why I used the term “children,” but yes – there was very little reaction when it was 60 boys who were burned alive. Those who are capable of committing these atrocities are nothing less than evil.

Oh, and they were also talking abt the whole “Al Qaeda doesn’t even like Boko Haram…” Turns out that is from a NY Times article, as if to downplay how bad Al Qaeda is. I would hope that no matter if another group can possibly be more evil and atrocious, it is NOT in any way a positive reflection on Al Qaeda. They are an abhorrent, radical, terrorist, murderous organization, and in no way, shape, or form can the reality of another group IMPROVE the image of Al Qaeda. I shudder to think what that would mean for the authors of this article if that is indeed their intent. Here is the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/08/world/africa/abduction-of-girls-an-act-not-even-al-qaeda-can-condone.html?ir=Canada&_r=0

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I found this young lady and her obvious contempt for the school board a ray of hope. I suspect that this young lady, having seen what she saw happen to her father will never have any respect for the School Board or those who support it. Perhaps in time she will run for a position on a School Board in order to change it. I hope so. She is an amazing 14 year old. Her parents must be very proud.

  15. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Can I just say, this new meme by the Dems abt how much money this Benghazi investigation is going to cost taxpayers is LAUGHABLE. How many HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS have been wasted on OBAMACARE sites that didn’t work? Ask Oregon, Maryland, and Massachusetts, for starters.

Or how abt all the money Obama gave to Solyndra? Tesla? Other cronies? Again, HUNDREDS of MILLIONS.

And what did the taxpayers get out of these things? Nothing but screwed. Atl east with the Benghazi investigation, we should finally be getting answers as to how our government allowed these men to be there in the first place, just why they were there with all those CIA folk, and why the hell they didn’t try to get them out. THAT is worth some money to me, not paying off Obama’s political hack crony friends.

    But that’s just me.

I really like Tom Cotton too. He has some great campaign ads out – below is a good one.

Having said I like him – I think that the “moral equivalency” argument is not a good one. The Dems use it all the time and it disgusts me. Why not do as Trey Gowdy suggested and not fund raise on this issue at all. Just because the Dems are hypocrites and liars doesn’t mean the right needs to be too. Take the moral high ground. Hard for pols to do I know, but if they try it they may find that voters like it. JMO

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I like him, too, but you are right – just because the Dems are engaging in practices that are disreputable does not mean Reps should, and they CERTAINLY shouldn’t on Benghazi because it is unseemly.

In addition, one of the MAJOR complaints is that Obama played POLITICS with Benghazi. Why in the WORLD would they want to give any fodder for a claim of hypocrisy? Never mind that it is just WRONG…
