Betrayed…*Open Thread*

That would be Ambassador Stevens, Chris Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods. Add to that list their families, those who were injured and their families, and the American people. Every single one of us has been betrayed by President Obama, (former) Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the rest of Obama’s Administration, for their actions, or lack thereof, in Benghazi, the staggering lies they have told about Benghazi, and their attempts to downplay this scandal as “phony.”

I realize this is not news to most of us here. But what is news is the following interview Bret Baier had with the C-17 Commander, Maj. Eric Stahl (ret.), who flew the plane carrying the CIA personnel, and the bodies of our fallen, out. There is much to this interview, and I encourage you to listen to the entire thing, if you will. Now to the video:

Honestly, when Maj. Stahl mentioned that a Libyan Security Guard had been bought off, I just started crying. The betrayal continues, and all for 30 pieces of silver. In essence, that is the same thing Obama did by hanging these people out to dry for political gain. Same for Clinton in the denial of the request for a plane on stand-by. WOW.

If you don’t have time to listen to the entire video, you can read a good bit of it at this Fox News piece, “US spy agencies heard Benghazi attackers using State Dept. cell phones to call terrorist leaders.

Here are some of the salient points in the article, but I encourage you to read the entire thing:

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 used cell phones, seized from State Department personnel during the attacks, and U.S. spy agencies overheard them contacting more senior terrorist leaders to report on the success of the operation, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News.

The disclosure is important because it adds to the body of evidence establishing that senior U.S. officials in the Obama administration knew early on that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and not a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video that had gone awry, as the administration claimed for several weeks after the attacks.

In an exclusive interview on Fox News’ “Special Report,” Stahl said members of a CIA-trained Global Response Staff who raced to the scene of the attacks were “confused” by the administration’s repeated implication of the video as a trigger for the attacks, because “they knew during the attack…who was doing the attacking.” Asked how, Stahl told anchor Bret Baier: “Right after they left the consulate in Benghazi and went to the [CIA] safehouse, they were getting reports that cell phones, consulate cell phones, were being used to make calls to the attackers’ higher ups.”

A separate U.S. official, one with intimate details of the bloody events of that night, confirmed the major’s assertion. The second source, who requested anonymity to discuss classified data, told Fox News he had personally read the intelligence reports at the time that contained references to calls by terrorists – using State Department cell phones captured at the consulate during the battle – to their terrorist leaders. The second source also confirmed that the security teams on the ground received this intelligence in real time. […]

If you are wondering if, by any chance, the Major was interviewed by the ARB, the answer would be a big, fat, no, according to the article. Just like they failed to interview then-Secretary Clinton, they failed to talk to people like Major Stahl. That makes their “assessment” less than credible, to put it mildly.

There is much, much more to the disclosures Major Stahl made, like the following (again, from Fox News):

[…] Stahl also contended that given his crew’s alert status and location, they could have reached Benghazi in time to have played a role in rescuing the victims of the assault, and ferrying them to safety in Germany, had they been asked to do so. “We were on a 45-day deployment to Ramstein air base,” he told Fox News. “And we were there basically to pick up priority missions, last-minute missions that needed to be accomplished.”

“You would’ve thought that we would have had a little bit more of an alert posture on 9/11,” Stahl added. “A hurried-up timeline probably would take us [an] hour-and-a-half to get off the ground and three hours and fifteen minutes to get down there. So we could’ve gone down there and gotten them easily.” (Emphasis mine.) (Click here to read the rest of this revealing article.)

As we have always known, the video meme was a total crock, as was the claim that no one could have gotten to these people in a timely fashion. Lies, lies, and more lies, that is what we have gotten from Obama and his Administration as they betrayed these brave Americans, their families, and us.

And the betrayal continues with the refusal by the Obama Administration to assist in Iraq as Jihadis take over one city after another, hoisting their flag. Now, like others here, I opposed the Iraq invasion from the get-go. But there is one VERY different factor here, and that is the Iraqi Prime Minister ASKED for our help, and Obama refused. The New York Times, while unable to call these jihadists by that name, still had the story, “U.S. Said to Rebuff Iraqi Request to Strike Militants“:

As the threat from Sunni militants in western Iraq escalated last month, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki secretly asked the Obama administration to consider carrying out airstrikes against extremist staging areas, according to Iraqi and American officials.

But Iraq’s appeals for a military response have so far been rebuffed by the White House, which has been reluctant to open a new chapter in a conflict that President Obama has insisted was over when the United States withdrew the last of its forces from Iraq in 2011. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

All the time, the treasure, and the lives lost by Americans in Iraq is now being made a mockery of by this president.

And the betrayal continues.

For a narcissist like Obama, if he says it, then it has to be true. And without a competent and honest media many people will never know the truth. But then since they don’t bother to try to find out the truth they don’t deserve it. Living your life as a potted plant should have, and does have consequences!

Thank you for posting the interview with Maj. Stahl. I had missed that completely. I’m sure the rest of the MSM has picked up on this story, or maybe not.

I am sick to my stomach at what is happening in Iraq. I actually supported the war in the early days. I had Kurdish friends in the U.S. who had had family members killed by the chemical attacks by Saddam Husein and I was influenced by their stories of death and displacement. I believed Saddam had WMD because he had used them on the Kurds. But I remember listening live to Sec. Powell’s presentation at the U.N. and a little voice in my head said, “Is that all the administration has in the way of proof?” It seemed a little slim.

But whatever the truth of our reasons for going in to topple Saddam and the ultimate value of that war, you have to support the sacrifice of our troops, those who died and those who have come home injured. If Iraq falls, what a complete and utter waste of American lives.

I have come to conclude, just based on my personal observations of places like Iran, Iraq, Egypt & Pakistan that Moslem societies have no internal impulse for Democratic government and that they do best when ruled by a strongman. Once we meddle in their governmental structures by trying to remove the strongman (Mubarak, Saddam, etc) and impose our values, it just doesn’t work.

Whatever my philosophical musings at this moment, I cannot begin to grasp what the fighting forces of our country must be feeling as they see their efforts in Iraq crumble away.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Very, very well said, Katherine – whether one supported the Iraq War initially or not, supporting the troops and their sacrifice there is critical. Indeed, what must those in the military, or those who fought there, feel seeing these cities they fought so hard to secure, be feeling now? My guess is what I have at the top: betrayal.

As for Saddam, he was a very bad man, no doubt abt it. And I am sure for your friends who lost people under him that it would most definitely influence your opinion. Totally understandable.

It sure seems like that abt these countries and democracy. Great observation – yep, sounds abt right…

Here is an interesting posting at CNN World that lays out mistakes by Bush’s people in Iraq and by Obama’s administration in pulling out completely. American foreign policy at its worst.

Thanks so much for this, Katherine. It was absolutely an interesting read, and the predictions seemed to be right on the money…

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So Obama claims they have been watching what’s been going on in Iraq for several months now? But he is considering all of his options?? A bit late for that, Mr. President. How abt when the Iraqi PM asked us to help go after the terrorists when they were all amassed on ONE AREA?? Lt. Col. Peters spoke abt this at length today (video below). Now those same people are spread out all over, much, much harder to get them now. Ugh. Here’s the link:

And here is Lt. Col. Peters:

  12. Katherine B Says:

There are reports of American military personnel and contractors being pulled from an airbase back into Baghdad. I saw another report saying all Western diplomats “are in trouble in Iraq.” This source says ISIS has weapons that make an air evacuation very risky. I wonder if Obama will lose another Ambassador. I hope not and I fervently hope all our remaining people in Iraq will be safe.

  13. mcnorman Says:

We have a Marine sitting in a jail in Mexico that has no political gain appeal with this administration. That cra cra Bergdahl is a loon. (I understand it is just a matter of time and pharma refinement before they parade him in front of cameras to tell the story that the WH wants.) Stoopid is still getting his info from the news. What else can go wrong?

If we are lucky, one of those bad solar flares will zap stoopid out of his pants today. This country can now anticipate the crisis before the dumbell can. Community organizing is useless in the real world.

    • mcnorman Says:

      The clueless won.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

This cartoon seems to express what you are saying quite nicely. I stole it from someone at NQ

      • Katherine B Says:

Sometimes cartoons aren’t funny at all but painful. This one brilliantly captures the reality of a very sad situation. If we can get one military person free from our sworn enemy the Taliban why can’t we get another home from our best friend Mexico?

        This administration is pathetic.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It’s just amazing, isn’t it, mcnorman? To see the responses people have given abt the Marine in Mexico are startling – he made a wrong turn. Greta van Susteren showed exactly how that happened – a sign down on the ground, construction, concrete barriers, and nighttime. It happens. But we go through all this to get this guy back giving up dangerous criminals to do so? Wow.

And not for nothing, but WHY do they keep saying they have to wait to see if any charges are filed? The Pentagon already established in 2010 that he was, at the very least, a deserter. That he should be court martialed isn’t even a QUESTION, or should be, anyway…

Funny abt Obama – I was thinking today after the way Gross pushed Clinton on and on abt her stance on gay marriage that NO ONE did that to Obama. NO ONE went after him when he flipped his “belief” (because the major gay donors stopped giving him money). And while I have a hard time reconciling this Clinton with the one I supported so ardently back in 2008, that she is still being treated differently than Obama by the press is glaring. He can continue to make stupid, asinine statements like the ones above abt watching what’s going on in Iraq for the past several months – doing nothing even when the PM requested it. He gets away with crap like that ALL the time.

That said, as Monica Crowley pointed out, had Sarah Palin made the same gaffe abt Lincoln that Clinton did, that is ALL we would be hearing from the MSM…

  14. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

OHMYGOSH – you are not going to believe what the IRS is trying to pull now. I swear, all this says to me is that there was something there:,8382
