Big Money Reward, The Seven IRS Dwarfs, And Weekend Open Thread

by

By now, we have all heard about the destroyed hard drives and missing emails of six IRS employees and of course, the woman at the heart of the IRS scandal, Lois Lerner. Of course, no one is buying what the IRS and Obama are trying to sell that these emails simply vanished, and the hard drives coincidentally were smashed to smithereens, or whatever the hell they are claiming happened to them.

And it is this alleged loss of emails that has driven two US Representatives to craft a bill, that would offer a MILLION DOLLARS to anyone who can produce these emails. From The Hill:

The Identify and Recover Sent E-Mails Act from Reps. Bill Flores (R-Texas) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) would also offer a $500,000 reward for information that leads to a criminal prosecution over the missing emails and would cut the pay of IRS employees by 20 percent until they are found.

“Lois Lerner’s involvement in the planning and execution of beliefs-based IRS targeting can only stay hidden for so long,” said Flores in a statement. “By providing these incentives we can get people to reveal the hidden truths behind this egregious cover up.”

“I find it very hard to believe that the emails from Lois Lerner are lost and unrecoverable,” he added, calling the agency’s claims “convenient.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

I think MANY of us find it hard to believe that these emails are lost, mainly because we know it is not believable. I would be ALL for this act passing, absolutely. Sure, it is taxpayer money that would be shelled out, but according to The Hill, the money would be allocated from the current IRS budget, so it would have to figure out where to cut back. Maybe those stupid Star Trek videos would be a place to start. Or maybe cutting back on their conferences that cost, according to WaPo, TENS OF MILLIONS of dollars. Just a thought.

Seriously, though – I imagine this is just a ploy to highlight the issue, and not something either one of these Representatives really expects to pass…

And along those lines, the Democrats can shut the hell up about how much these hearings are costing. Had the IRS not acted inappropriately, and what appears to be ILLEGALLY, at the behest of high ranking Democrats like Levin, Schumer, and Cummings, we wouldn’t have to be HAVING these hearings. Seriously. What pieces of work these men are. I hope THEY get their comeuppance along with Lerner, the smug, arrogant Koskinen, and all the others involved in this very real scandal.

Oh, why did I feel compelled to add that this is a real scandal? Because of this claim by President Obama on Thursday (h/t Facebook friend):

The numbers Bozell put forth about how much the MSM has reported on, say, the IRS, is particularly funny (read: idiotic) for Obama to then complain about negative coverage. Then again, how DARE they report the news instead of talking points?? In case you don’t have time to watch the video, here are the numbers on JUST the IRS. From Fox News:

[…] The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held hearings on June 23 and 24 about the news that the hard drive of former IRS executive Lois Lerner had been destroyed. The “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was the only broadcast evening news show to cover them.

That’s a trend. CBS is the only one of the Big Three to even attempt honesty in its IRS coverage. CBS’ Nancy Cordes also explained that the “head of the federal archives testified that the IRS was supposed to notify his office three years ago when Lois Lerner’s hard drive crashed.” That’s pretty big news. But ABC and NBC didn’t mention it. […] (Click here here to read the rest of the article, and for the numbers of underreporting on other scandals by the MSM.)

Uh, yeah. So you can see why Obama is complaining about ALL the negative coverage of late, all few minutes of it. Ahem.

And speaking of that coverage, the Daily Caller has more information on just who those Seven Dwarfs from the IRS are whose hard drives inexplicably spontaneously combusted (hey, it’s as good a theory as any of the others they have mentioned), ALL within days of each other. I am leaving out Lois Lerner because we already know a lot about her. Here are a few of the others, from The Daily Caller:

[…] Nikole Flax, former chief of staff to IRS commissioner Steven Miller: Flax was a busy bureaucrat during her tenure at the IRS, where she worked for Lerner in the exempt organizations division among other roles. Flax made 31 visits to the White House between July 12, 2010 and May 8, 2013, according to White House visitor logs. Flax’s visits started in the early days of the IRS targeting program and ended just two days before the IRS scandal broke on May 10, 2013. Flax met twice in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building with Jeanne Lambrew, a top adviser to President Obama who exchanged confidential information on conservative groups with Lerner.

[…]

Michelle Eldridge, IRS national media relations chief: This 23-year IRS veteran was tasked with defending the IRS when it came under scrutiny in 2012 for whistleblower reprisal from its inspector general and from Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who Lerner tried to target, and when it was revealed in 2013 that the agency leaked confidential information on conservative groups to the liberal nonprofit ProPublica. Eldridge visited the White House on March 22, 2010, to meet with Vice President Joe Biden’s scheduling director Alex Hornbrook.

[…]

Kimberly Kitchens, agent: Kitchens, who donated to President Obama’s 2012 campaign, worked in the IRS Exempt Organizations Rulings and Agreements office in Cincinnati in 2012, according to IRS documents. The IRS’ plague of computer crashes, therefore, was not merely confined to Washington, D.C., but also ensnared the Cincinnati office that Lerner oversaw and initially tried to blame the entire scandal on. […] (Click here to learn more about the other IRS Dwarfs.)

Uh, yeah. Lots of that blame thing going on, from Obama to high-ranking Democrats to those at the heart of the IRS scandal. Sure will be interesting to see what comes of all of these hearings, won’t it?

That’s it for me. This is the Weekend Open Thread. Talk about any of the above, or anything else on your minds!

I don’t know if anyone else caught it, but Ed Klein was on Fox and Friends this morning discussing his ner book, “Blood Feud,” abt the Clintons and Obamas.

I haven’t been able to find the interview from this morning, but he was on “Hannity” the other night, and he mentioned the same thing I found so telling. That would be abt Benghazi.

Bottom line, Hillary KNEW the video was BS, and Bill even told her she couldn’t spew that crap (I am paraphrasing), but she decided it would hurt the Party and her future chances. And there ya have it: Party Over Country. Here’s the video:

Thought you might find this article interesting. FYI, Senator Ron Johnson is “my” Senator, the one who sent Russ Feingold to the showers. He’s also the one who was questioning Hillary Clinton when she made her infamous “what difference does it make” remark. I’ve always thought she was angry that this freshman Senator dared question HER. A kind of noblesse oblige moment.

    Anyway, here tis:

Restoring balance among the branches of government in Washington

By Senator Ron Johnson and Jonathan Turley

Ron Johnson, a Republican, represents Wisconsin in the Senate. Jonathan Turley is the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University.

I found it interesting that a Republican businessman and a liberal law professor see things the same way on this issue.

I applaud Jonathan Turley for an integrity that does not allow his liberal leanings to get in the way of what’s right. Damn few like him on the left.

What an OUTSTANDING piece, Marge. And what an indicator of how serious a situation this is that these two came together to write this, two men for whom I have respect.

And I remember when Sen. Johnson was questioning Hillary – his one direct question provoked the sound bite heard ’round the world (“What difference at this point does it make??”), a question which spawned outrage by feminists across the land that the little lady was being hounded by this white male. Ahem. Never mind that MOST hearings are far, far more contentious, and the SoS should be able to handle a direct question without women having to rush to her defense as if she is helpless (all to say – what a bunch of hypocrites).

Yep, I know who your senator is, Marge, and you are lucky to have him!

Again, excellent piece. I have already shared it at Facebook! 🙂

Glad you are spreading it around. I don’t “do” social media and it’s times like this I almost wish I did.

I think it’s important to show that two men, with vastly different philosophies, ideologies and life experiences can come together because of something they both feel is important to the health and well-being of the country they both love. It gave me some hope that there are others out there who can also do that.

Ron Johnson was a businessman most of his life so I don’t think “politics” has tainted him too much yet. If he keeps running until he can no longer totter into the Senate Chamber I’ll change my mind. And if he starts speaking “talking point” instead of ordinary English I will be very disappointed.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

And furthermore, ;), I also find it astounding that the same feminists who think Hillary would make a wonderful POT
US and was a fine SoS think she’s too fragile a flower to answer a few tough questions. What b.s. If she can’t take the heat…

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

EXACTLY, Marge – I could not believe the way “feminists” were reacting to her questioning. If people weren’t fawning at her feet, they were being mean to her. How does THAT stack up for “equality”?? I have watched a NUMBER of these hearings, and Johnson was polite, but he was direct. If a POTUS cannot handle that because she’s a woman, as these feminists seem to believe (I suppose riding in on their stallions to save her like a damsel in distress), then they are not helping their cause to elect a woman president.

And my pleasure for spreading it around on social media! At least one friend has already shared it on (she lives in MN), so it will hopefully make the rounds. It is important, no doubt abt it. Heck, I’d say it is CRITICAL.

I hope Johnson can continue to rely on his business roots and keep centered that way…

  5. foxyladi14 Says:

That is what is wrong here in the US today we have a Sissy for POTUS. 😯

    • kenoshamarge Says:

And if the liberals have their way they will make sissies of women. They want the government to take care of us as if we aren’t quite capable, most of the time, of standing on our own two feet. Give us a hand up not a hand out and then get the hell out of our way. We are smart and competent and capable of making a life that is astounding!

But if the left has there way most women will have either a child at their knee when they are too young to care for themselves, let alone a child, or else will have had the soul-destroying experience of having killed their child to be. Either way that young woman will never be the same. Some are strong enough to move on and up – most, not.

I have always laughed at beign called the “weaker” sex. If you are talking about the ability to bench press 200 pounds – then yes. If you are talking about mental strength – then not only no but hell no! Most men would wither at what women have to go through just because they are women. Yet we accept it as SOP.

So yes Foxy, Obama is a sissy and a whiner and that isn’t much of a man. I just fear that his party, and his kind of ideology will make just such a sissy out of women. If Michelle allows him to do so that is. Cause there ain’t no sissy in that woman – whiner maybe, but no sissy.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is what continues to boggle my mind abt “feminists” today, like wanting others to take care of their birth control for them, the whole “Life of Julia” thing. Somehow, we have gone from “Our Bodies, Ourselves,” to “Our Bodies, The Governments,” and WILLINGLY. That is what I just don’t get.

What happened to the women who wanted to stand on their own two feet? Who wanted to be independent, show they were strong (in your SOP sense of the word)? Where have they gone, and how in the HELL did we get here?

Disturbing. Very disturbing. But there does seem to be an entire wussification of the culture. Truly disconcerting.
