More Dirty Secrets, And A Change Of Pace(s) *Open Thread*

Oh, boy, talk about some revealing information coming out of the IRS hearing on Wednesday. These people never seem to disappoint in making clear just how far they have sunk in the muck and mire. And how.

So, now we know, courtesy of some emails that Lerner no doubt HOPED would stay lost, but didn’t. Oops. From NewsMax:

Former IRS supervisor Lois Lerner emailed colleagues urging them to be careful about what they put in their own messages because the information could be discovered by congressional investigators.

But her caution came back to bite her Wednesday as Rep. Darrell Issa released her email that warned about the dangers of such electronic communications.

“I was cautioning folks about email and how we have several occasions where Congress has asked for emails,” Lerner wrote on April 9, 2013. “We need to be cautious about what we say in emails.”

Lerner’s message was written 12 days after she read a draft report on the targeting of tea party and conservative groups by the IRS inspector general and suggested that top agency officials communicated among themselves via an instant-messaging system that was not regularly archived.

Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, released the email at a hearing with IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. The documents were turned over to the panel last week, more than a year after the Oversight Committee subpoenaed all documents relating to the targeting scandal that began in 2010 and continued through the 2012 presidential election. […]

Oh, but wait – it gets better (read: more indicative of Lerner’s motives):

[…] Lerner apparently was concerned about whether such messages were regularly saved and could be part of any subpoena for data by congressional investigators.

“Someone asked if OCS conversations were also searchable — I don’t know, but told them I would get back to them,” she said in the email, which was sent at 1:50 p.m. “Do you know?”

“OCS messages are not set to automatically save as the standard; however the functionality exists within the software,” Hooke responded at 2:45 p.m. “That being said the parties involved in an OCS conversation can copy and save the contents of the conversation to an email or file.”

Hooke then noted that such conversations could be saved — and included in a congressional subpoena.

“To date, OCS conversations are not specifically identified as part of the Electronic Data Request … for information, however, if one of the parties saved the conversation as an email or file they would become part of the electronic search.

“My general recommendation is to treat the conversation as if it could/is being saved somewhere, as it is possible for either party of the conversation to retain the information and have it turn up as part of an electronic search,” Hooke concluded. “Make sense?”

“Perfect,” Lerner replied at 2:51 p.m. […](Click here to read the rest.)

There ya have it – “perfect.” That is the attitude with which the IRS dealt with this issue.

And speaking of attitude, that is with what Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) had to deal with both Koskinen and Rep. Gerry Connelly (D-VA) during the hearing:

Oh, yeah, no need to lament missing fireworks on July Fourth when you have hearings like this. Nope, I think this pretty much lit things up.

Like I keep saying, truth will out, and it continues to work its way out from underneath the rug. Thank heavens we are getting to the bottom of this, no thanks to the “Most Transparent Administration E-VAH!” Can’t wait to see what shakes loose next…

But now for the change of pace(s). Since I have family in town from Mississippi for a couple of days, I’ll be away from my computer a bit, doing fun things like going on a boat ride with a local captain to see more of the island on which I live from the water. Plus, my brother loves boats, so it seemed like a fun thing to do. His two daughters, teenagers both, will likely want to go see the horses. Who wouldn’t, am I right?

So along that vein, I have to share a little bit from our time in Kentucky, which is also an homage to my sister-in-law, who is from Kentucky. First up is my finally getting to meet, in person, Little Silver Charm at Old Friends Equine Retirement:

Isn’t he ADORABLE??? How cute is that Little Silver Charm?! What a thrill that was. Sure, I met a whole bunch of retired thoroughbreds, including the one below, but oh, my – that sassy little mane and his overall cuteness is too much. Oh, and the one below? That would be Popcorn Deelites, aka, “Seabiscuit,” from the movie of the same name:

Popcorn Deelites, "Seabiscuit"

It was so cool seeing all these champions there. Old Friends is a great organization. If you ever get the chance, please do check it out.

And now for that change of pace. While at the Kentucky Horse Park, we were able to go to two different “Horse of the World” presentations, one of whiche involved two Friesians. It was quite something, and they did indeed change pace:

Isn’t that so cool? Aren’t those Friesians just breathtaking? Lucky for me, I had a chance to meet them, and pet them, both before and after the show. What magnificent horses they are – WOW…

Finally, I have to share with you an unbelievably beautiful horse. The breed is from Turkmenistan, and is a desert horse. This breed has tremendous endurance, is incredibly intelligent, and is devoted to its owner. It is also the only breed that has a natural metallic sheen to its coat. Here he is, and oh, what a beauty:

Beautiful, right? Click this link to see what a gold one looks like, or this one . WOW.

There’s more to share, but it will wait for another time. Meanwhile, feel free to comment on the Lerner bombshell, or any of the other goings-on this week. This is an Open Thread.

OHMYGOSH – I was totally remiss in mentioning seeing Katmoon and Ferd in this post (thanks, Cuz, for reminding me!). We had a GREAT time with them, albeit too short. Too much of our time was spent with a later departure waiting for a repair guy before we left. But it was a blast seeing them, meeting their cats and dog, and playing with KITTENS. We had so much fun – they are delightful, wonderful people, and we loved getting to see them again.

IRS staffer suspended for Obama cheerleading

100 day suspension? Seriously? This person should be fired and that done immediately! How can people have any faith in the IRS when this kind of behavior receives a slap on the wrist?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Are you kidding me with this?? That is reprehensible. I swear, Obama and his minions have so corrupted our gov’t in SO many ways. It will take ages to unravel all the crap they have pulled off…

Indeed Marge those agency’s are supposed to serve everyone!!! 😡

Hey Cuz and all—-Wonderful post and pictures! Welcome back!

Just wanted to say a quick word about the border CRISIS!!
We, here, in the greater Austin area are STILL in shock that idiot Barack snubbed the border! Even James Carville is upset.
The only thing good, if it’s even appropriate to use that word in the midst of this horrendous re-occurring disaster, is that our Governor, Rick Perry, is showing what he’s truly made of—We are SO proud of him. Go Rick!
And the Democrats keep saying how much they “care” about women, but I’ve gotta tell you, so many mothers down here, ( and grannies!) are extremely stressed-out over the rapid influx of THOUSANDS of sick, diseased children……Will they be thrown into our schools, grocery stores, cafes, churches etc, without being tested and/or quarantined???
My GOD! What are the Dems and that jack-a-nape Obama thinking???? They are putting us and OUR precious children at grave risk!! Not to mention the gangs flooding across the border, posing as “children”.
Honestly, they are about to give us a stroke, and have caused enormous emotional stress, already. The economic stress will soon arrive, also.
So, THIS is caring about women??? Dream on, you F**K Heads!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, Cuz’n, and good to *see* you again!

GREAT comment, Cindy – you have really hit the nail on the head in terms of the tremendous impact these children are going to have among communities all across the border states (and beyond). You nailed it.

And yes, your governor has really been stepping it up. Good for him, and good for Texas. I hope he continues to pressure Obama on this, despite Obama’s blaming the Reps for his own failed policies.

  8. kenoshamarge Says:

Do all of you folks remember after Katrina when this picture of George W. Bush was the outrage of the left? How it was supposed to show how little he cared about the people below?

Bad “optics” as they say in the political game.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Now look at this “optic” of Obama sitting across the table from Rick Perry. Perry and his people look very concerned while Obama and his people are just laughing it up. Wouldn’t you think the media would be intereted in being outraged about this? After all Obama himself called it a humanitarian crisis. Just before having a beer and shooting pool.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Holy SMOKES, Marge – that is huge – that one photo really says it all, doesn’t it?? Good grief.

And yeah – Obama has never met a photo op he didn’t like unless it is something real…

  9. Cindyindie Says:

Has anyone mentioned this and I missed it………….

….the fact that last year there were 1,210,000 abortions in the U.S…..and the bleeding heart liberals want us to believe that they “care” about these 60,000 illegal kids….(and that Republicans don’t? Really?)
I thought that was an interesting comparison!
