Kerry Isn’t Clueless; He’s Dangerous *Open Thread*

I know that may not be news to many of us here, but what Kerry tried to pull in this recent Israel/Hamas ceasefire was likely worse than many of us thought. I don’t mean being inept, but rather consorting with the wrong kinds of people in our name while selling out our allies.

Legal Insurrection has a great piece on this abdication of allegiance by Kerry, and also his duplicity toward Israel. This video is one of the starting points:

The people involved with Kerry, on his left and his right, are significant, as the article points out:

[…] There is something dangerously incompetent about Kerry. He is seeking to bolster Hamas, while bringing the lunatic Turkish leadership — which hates Israel with a passion — into the fold. […]

Yeah, it’s not incompetence – it is worse than that. From Legal Insurrection:

[…] Sure enough, Barak Ravid, a well-regarded reporter for the left-wing Israeli Haaretz newspaper presents a chilling tale of John Kerry’s complete incompetence in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, Kerry’s latest cease-fire plan: What was he thinking?

The draft Kerry passed to Israel on Friday shocked the cabinet ministers not only because it was the opposite of what Kerry told them less than 24 hours earlier, but mostly because it might as well have been penned by Khaled Meshal [the political head of Hamas who lives in Qatar]. It was everything Hamas could have hoped for.

The document recognized Hamas’ position in the Gaza Strip, promised the organization billions in donation funds and demanded no dismantling of rockets, tunnels or other heavy weaponry at Hamas’ disposal. The document placed Israel and Hamas on the same level, as if the first is not a primary U.S. ally and as if the second isn’t a terror group which overtook part of the Palestinian Authority in a military coup and fired thousands of rockets at Israel.

There is much, much more in this article, and I cannot reprint it here. But I do want to highlight this one Op-Ed Legal Insurrection highlighted, “John Kerry, The Betrayal”:

[…] But none of those episodes, though deeply troubling and relating to issues central to Israel’s well-being, provoked the kind of outraged disbelief at Kerry’s performance that has been emanating from the Israeli leadership in the past 48 hours. Leaked comments from unnamed senior government sources to Army Radio, Channel 2 and other Hebrew outlets have described the secretary as amateurish, incompetent, incapable of understanding the material he is dealing with — in short, a blithering fool.

But actually, it’s worse than that. What emerges from Kerry’s self-initiated ceasefire mission — Israel had already accepted the Egyptian ceasefire proposal; and nobody asked him to come out on a trip he prefaced with sneering remarks about Israel’s attempted “pinpoint” strikes on Hamas terror targets — is that Jerusalem now regards him as duplicitous and dangerous.

Contrary to his public claim at his press conference in Cairo that his ceasefire proposal was “built on” the Egyptian initiative, it manifestly is nothing of the kind. As indicated by the unconfirmed text reported by Issacharoff, by other subsequent reports of its content, and by the cabinet’s outraged rejection, it is a proposal that, to quote an unnamed official cited by Channel 2, “tunneled under the Egyptian initiative,” a document, to quote from another of those leaked comments, that reads like it was drawn up for or even by Hamas’s Khaled Mashaal. […] (Click here to read the rest. Again, H/T to William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection for this Op-Ed, as well as a number of other excellent resources in his post.)

Uh, yeah – our ally Israel sees our Secretary of State as “dangerous.” Now THAT is problematic.

Heck, even WaPo gets it about Hamas, as this Editorial, “The U.S. should push for the disarming of Hamas in Gaza-Israel cease-fire,” evidences (h/t’s Ed Morriseey):

THE DISTINGUISHING feature of the latest war between Israel and Hamas is “offensive tunnels,” as the Israeli army calls them. As of early Wednesday, 28 had been uncovered in Gaza, and nearly half extend into Israel, according to Israeli officials. The tunnels are the reason that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu decided last weekend to launch a ground invasion of Gaza, and they explain why that operation has strong support from Israelis in spite of the relatively heavy casualties it has inflicted. Most significantly, the tunnels show why it has been difficult to reach a cease-fire and why any accord must forge a new political and security order in Gaza.

Hamas’s offensive tunnels should not be confused with the burrows it has dug under Gaza’s border with Egypt to smuggle money, consumer goods and military equipment. The newly discovered structures have only one conceivable purpose: to launch attacks inside Israel. Three times in recent days, Hamas fighters emerged from the tunnels in the vicinity of Israeli civilian communities, which they clearly aimed to attack. The concrete-lined structures are stocked with materials, such as handcuffs and tranquilizers, that could be used on hostages. Other tunnels in northern Gaza are designed for the storage and firing of missiles at Israeli cities.

The resources devoted by Hamas to this project are staggering, particularly in view of Gaza’s extreme poverty. By one Israeli account, the typical tunnel cost $1 million to build over the course of several years, using tons of concrete desperately needed for civilian housing. By design, many of the tunnels have entrances in the heavily populated Shijaiyah district, where the Israeli offensive has been concentrated. One was found underneath al-Wafa hospital, where Hamas also located a command post and stored weapons, according to Israeli officials. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

And Kerry wants to kowtow to THESE people?? To those who use hospitals and schools as stockpile facilities? Who use women and children as shields, the weak cowards that they are? Who are hell-bent on destroying Israel? Who are TERRORISTS? It really does beg the question why Kerry would bend over for them, doesn’t it?

Yep, Kerry is a dangerous man to Israel, which makes Obama dangerous, too, since Kerry could not be doing ANY of this without the implicit or overt approval of the President. None of it. And that really says it all, doesn’t it?

This is an Open Thread. Have at it!

I began nodding my head the minutes I read the title. He and his boss both are a menace to the safety and survival of Israel. And yet most American Jews are Democrat voters? What’s with that?

    Branco cartoon from Legal Insurrection

I had to laugh abt the cartoon, Marge – I had put that up at the post from this weekend for you! It is SPOT ON, isn’t it?

I don’t know how so many Jews have supported Obama, Marge. It makes no sense to me. As I was just listening to the news and Chuck Schumer standing up for Israel, I couldn’t help but be struck by the incongruity. He is an Obama sycophant, and yet Obama is calling for ISRAEL to chill out, not HAMAS. The plans put forth by this Administration have been heavily on the side of the Terrorists, not our ally, as you know. So yeah- I simply do not understand the logic (maybe that’s the problem – it isn’t logical)…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Don’t know how I missed your post of the cartoon, but I did and it just proves great minds – yes?

did you see this article by Roger Simon?

        Israel’s Most Dangerous Enemy

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no worries, Marge, I just did it this morning around 9:15 or so. I immediately thought of you when I saw it – knew you’d like it!

And no, I hadn’t seen the article yet. Going to read it now. Thanks!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a great piece, Marge – Simon echoes a lot of what Jacobson was saying. I think he is right – Obama is trying to show how tough he is to our ALLY, Israel, since he refuses to do so with our ENEMIES. How that makes any sense is beyond me, but as Simon highlighted, as it is, Obama and Kerry are aligning themselves with radical Islamists, despite their “professional” political claims to support women and gays. Never mind that they swore an oath to protect the United States in its entirety…

          • kenoshamarge Says:

The gutless little POS knows he can get as tough as he wants with allies since they won’t fly airplanes into buildings in our cities or bomb someone.

He sides with those who would do, and have done, just that.

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      😆 Marge thanks

  2. foxyladi14 Says:

    Fire Kerry!!!! 😡

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Kerry should have never been hired in the first place. His only qualifications are that he’s a liberal from Massachusetts where they elect and re-elect Dems no matter what they do, how incompetent they are, or if they have even a smidgen of integrity.

The fact that they continued to elect Ted Kennedy to the Senate after Chappaquidik told me all I needed to know about the voters of Massachusetts.

Ditto that they elected a phony POS like Elizabeth Warren and will no doubt re-elect her again and again unless they try to shove her into the White House. Will that be historical on two fronts, first woman and first Faux Native American?

I realize that my cynicism is depressing and perhaps even boring to some. But I cannot, will not accept the trash that sits in the Senate, the House and the White House without calling them as I sees them. Garbage people who aren’t fit to govern anywhere including a deserted island.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ain’t THAT the truth, Marge? I realize that there is a presumption to allow the POTUS to have the people he wants to have, but for a job that important, that serious, that requires a sober, thoughtful individual, that KERRY was confirmed is disturbing.

And you are spot on abt MA. I lived there for 8 yrs, and there is no doubt that women, including myself (since I was a left-wing Dem then) justified re-electing Kennedy even though he treated women like CRAP. And we kept electing that mental lightweight (probably from all the pot his partner had – ahem), Barney Frank, too. At least then, these folks were balanced out by having Republican governors. Not any more.

And Warren – ugh. I have a favorite uncle who is now smitten with her. Why? His daughter, who went to Harvard Law, said she was okay, and that was enough. He has completely bought the whole Cherokee thing, despite it being completely anecdotal, and the Cherokee Nation saying it’s a lie. He is not an ignorant man – he was a university professor in Greek and Latin for DECADES. But, he has been taken in as so many have by this poor little rick woman who extols the virtues of OWS while being a multimillionaire.

Yeah, I don’t blame you one little bit for being cynical. It is pretty hard not to be at this juncture.

But your point abt Obama being able to safely rail at allies is absolutely SPOT on, Marge. Very well said!

  3. foxyladi14 Says:

    And his BOSS too 🙂

  4. GinaR Says:

I’m late to this post, but nothing epitomizes where Obama stands more clearly than this:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Can you BELIEVE Obama said this crap?? Not that we don’t have Muslims here now who are contributing citizens, but to what, exactly, is he referring, hmmm?

      The revisionist history marches on…
