IRS Lies Revealed, And Canonization Complete *Open Thread* *Updated*

Update at the end of the post.

Burial-Grounds (Link:

Yet another great cartoon from Branco, but there was a big one missing: the attempted burial of Lois Lerner’s emails by the IRS.

You may have heard the most recent revelation from Judicial Watch regarding the BS excuse that Lois Lerner’s emails had disappeared that paints the IRS, including IRS chief, John Koskinen, as the huge liars they are. Judicial Watch did a FOIA, and found out – SURPRISE – that Lerner’s emails were backed up after all.

Well, no freakin’ DUH. Of course they were. We all knew this to be the case from the get-go, and that there was NO WAY those emails, in this electronic day and age, could be completely gone. Turns out, we were right. Here is more from Judicial Watch (h/t

That necessarily raises the question in my mind of perjury by Koskinen all those times he appeared before Congress and kept claiming the emails were destroyed, poof, GONE. Liar. Rep. Darrell Issa has the same take on Koskinen’s testimony, it seems as Breitbart reports:

[…] Issa said there is a “cover-up, delay, denial, even now there appears to be a false statement from the new IRS commissioner in which he said he moved heaven and Earth to get Lois Lerner’s logs and e-mails.”

“We’re going to call him back,” Issa said. “This time I intend to call him back for a deposition behind closed doors, where we can ask him extensively what he knew and when he knew it. We can go through day by day, how much time he spent getting briefed for his hearings because he either lied under oath, or he chose not to know a critical fact. When he said heaven and earth was moved, and in fact somebody, many somebody knew that Lois Lerner’s emails apparently do exist, and they simply haven’t bothered to go get them from what they’re calling disaster recovery documents.” (Click here to read the rest and see the interview with van Susteren.)

Uh huh. They exist, get them together already. Act like adults and not petulant children trying to hide a bad report card, for pete’s sake. Oh, and how about a legal comeuppance for these bozos like Koskinen who have wasted SO much time and money trying to keep these emails from those who have oversight?? Just a thought.

Now we turn from the profane to what some are trying to make sacred. That would be the canonization of Saint Michael Brown. As you likely know, Brown’s funeral was held on Monday with a huge number of attendees, and lots of pontificating from the pulpit, including this astonishing comparison by one of the ministers present who is also Brown’s great-uncle. From the Daily Caller:

[…] Brown’s uncle, Pastor Charles Ewing, gave a passionate eulogy and made parallels of his nephew’s life and that of the life of Jesus Christ.

“Michael Brown was 18 years old. He was shot around noon. Our Lord and Savior hung on the cross — now compare our time frame 12 o’clock to the Jewish time frame which is at the sixth hour. Michael Brown died on August the 9th. Jesus hung on the cross between the sixth and the 9th hour.”

Pastor Ewing continued his Jesus comparison by tying the St. Louis area’s geography to biblical numbers.

“If you look at the demographics of St. Louis, Missouri, we are known for the Gateway to the West. Now Holy Spirit said ‘well, look at 12 gates of Israel.’ The East gate that Jesus is going to walk to is shaped like an arch. Look at Interstate 70 rides 2, 153 miles from Maryland to all the way to Utah. Jesus spent 70 hours. Israel went into captivity for 70 years.”

[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

Wow. Just freakin’ wow. Now I appreciate that Pastor Ewing is in pain having just lost his grand-nephew. But comparing what happened to Brown to what Jesus endured?? Holy smokes. That is really pushing the envelope, to put it mildly. As far as I know, Jesus was not a strong-arm robber, nor did he physically assault a civil servant. From another Daily Caller article:

[…] Wilson has reportedly claimed that the gun went off in the cruiser during an altercation with Brown in which the 18-year-old shoved him into the car, assaulted him, and struggled to grab the weapon.

It was initially reported that the altercation and shooting followed an argument after Wilson ordered Brown and Johnson to get out of the middle of the road. But it later emerged that Brown had stolen cigars and shoved a store clerk just minutes before he encountered Wilson. Wilson reportedly says that seconds after their first encounter, he received the police dispatch call reporting the strong-arm robbery and then doubled-back to confront the two. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Yet, those pesky details continue to elude the majority of those who are ranting and raving about this evil white police man gunning down the poor black, saintly, child. Oh, yes, one of Brown’s family members made THIS claim:

[…] “Michael was a big guy, but he was a kind, gentle soul, and before he left this Earth, the day that he was killed, he was out spreading the word of Jesus Christ,” a family friend said. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Um, did the person making this claim not know there was videographic evidence of exactly what Brown was doing that day?? Did this family member not see the reports about how Brown broke the eye socket of a police officer after committing a crime?? If this is their idea of “spreading the word of Jesus Christ,” I have to question just what they are being taught about the life and words of Jesus. Sorry if that sounds judgmental, but holy crap, enough with the canonization of yet another young man who was far from walking the “straight and narrow.” Once again, a tragedy is being used for nothing more than grand-standing and political fodder. It is abhorrent.

Worked me up, I’ll tell you. And now it’s your turn. What’s on your minds today?

UPDATE: So here’s the thing about this newsflash (cough, cough) with the Lerner emails actually existing, and the DOJ. The Daily Caller has this follow up to this “revelation”: “House Committee: DOJ Lawyers Have ‘Conflict of Interest’ In IRS Case.” Shocking, just shocking. Not…

The attempted cannonazation of Michael Brown is repulsive. Speading the world of Jesus? By knocking a store owner around and stealing from him? I don’t find that very “Jesuslike” myself.

Anyway, this is a new storyline – one of the first was that he was little red riding hoodie off to see grandma.

And if you’re riled up, read this:

Michael Brown Funeral: Cop-Lynching Pep Rally

The parents that let their son’s funeral become a 3 ring circus should be ashamed. I find my sympathy diminishing day by day.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Oh, and Branco is brilliant – as usual!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

GREAT cartoon from Branco – truly a genius.

And thanks so much for that article. It ties in perfectly. Verdun’s comments abt Sharpton are spot on. Of course he wants a movement – he wants to milk this victimhood for all its worth, conveniently ignoring facts and realty to try and make himself relevant. He is a hate monger, no two ways abt it. How he can claim he wants peace when ratcheting up aggravation, distrust, and animosity, is just one big lie perpetrated by a false prophet.

Then there were the stars and politicians who showed up. What a bunch of narcissistic, self promoters. Are they going to show up at the funeral of the 9 yr old little boy who was executed in his OWN backyard in Chicago the other day? Yeah, didn’t think so. They might actually have to look at things going on they want to keep sweeping under the rug.

Here’s John Kass on the subject:

  2. Katherine B Says:

I only caught glimpses of the funeral because I figured it would be a circus and I was right. Three administration officials dispatched to represent Obama while, as FOX News pointed out, he couldn’t be bothered sending one official to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral. So the thug who robbed a convenience store and assaulted the clerk is somehow more important than a former Prime Minister of Great Britain. Well apparently, if the uncle can compare him to Jesus!!!!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Just amazing, isn’t it? And not only was he a strong-arm robber, but he assaulted the cop enough to break his face, basically. That takes some doing.

It seems the world really has gone mad…

    • Cindyindie Says:

“….as Fox News pointed out, he couldn’t be bothered sending one official to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral.”

Hubby just told me that the WH sent NO ONE to Jim Foley’s mass, as well!!!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

He didn’t send anyone to the memorial service for Foley either or for the General murdered in Afghanistan. Easy to see where his priorities are.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Nope, couldn’t be bothered. World leaders (Thatcher)? Nope. First general to be killed in combat (4 bullets to the back, btw) in abt 50 yrs? Nope. Photojournalist beheaded by Islamist extremists? Nope. Funeral for a criminal just because he was shot by a white cop? Yep. Oh, and send the head of the DOJ down to see if the police officer can be further prosecuted for “Civil Rights” violations, as in violating Brown’s “rights” after Brown assaulted him, tried to get his gun, and was charging him. Yep, yep, yep.

That’s how we roll now, apparently.

  3. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Cuz’n CindyIndie sent the following she picked up at NQ. She asked me to put it up for her. That does seem to be the mindset – they don’t really mean it when they stand against everything for which liberals claim to stand…

    • Cindyindie Says:

      Thanks, Cuzin!
And I agree with you. Indeed, the world has gone mad……and getting worse

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

        My pleasure!

It really is upside-down-world now. I just cannot believe the things Dems are supporting now. I know for a fact my party left me. And now I am glad for it. I would not want to be a supporter of some of the things they are doing these days…

        • Cindyindie Says:

Agreed, Cuz–Also, have you noticed that the ones (Dems) who are defecting from the Obama Kool-Aid stand are acting as if he JUST began acting like this?? Are you kidding me? Those of us with foresight, insight, common sense, and clear consciences knew exactly how he was in 2007-2008!! He’s the same! Nothing new to us, right?!

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It really is remarkable, isn’t it? Uh, yeah, he didn’t just start acting like this. This is WHO he is. Not the Messiah-lite that the Davids (Axelrod and Plouffe) depicted him as being, not the Chicago politician who was above Chicago politics, not the one to bring Change! and Hope! and stop the rise of the waters. No. He is the superficial, shallow, detached, indecisive, mediocre man he was all along before Emil Jones and the Davids played “Kingmaker.”

Just ask the people who were in his district. Or the people who got thrown off the ballot so he could run unopposed. Or the two US Senate candidates whose divorce records were unsealed by Obama’s team so he essentially ran unopposed for the US Senate seat.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg…

  4. mcnorman Says:

They lie. Joe Wilson will always be remembered for his spunk, but he forgot to include the gang. Just for giggles, how much does our prudent government spend on elevator posters a week?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding, huh? I guess he figured they’d throw him out if he went on. But was he ever right…

Good grief abt the use of taxpayer dollars for POSTERS. WTH?!?! It just never ends, does it?

  5. Cindyindie Says:

Sunday mornin’ we took our grandsons to the “early ” service at the Episcopal church, which is attended by (mainly) young people and young families.
This is the song the church “country band” played and sang for communion…It was terrific!
Also, our boys, along with other children, received a “blessing” by Mother Lisa, the priest….not only for communion, but for their school back packs, which they were asked to bring.
It was a wonderful experience….and a welcomed one, after so much national heinous news ….!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I absolutely love this version of this song. Alison Krauss is fantastic anyway, but she and the band do a wonderful job with this.

How cool that you took the boys for the early service, and that there was a blessing not just for them, but their backpacks! I am sure it was a GREAT experience!

Thank you for sharing this piece of beauty…

      • Cindyindie Says:

My pleasure, Cuz! It was a very poignant experience to watch those two little boys, arms crossed on their chests, walking down the aisle to receive a blessing with those Sponge Bob back packs on their backs, and with that song being sung…Just precious.
As you know, the three yr. old isn’t in school yet, but we bought him a back pack, since he comes to my house and attends “Granny School”…… LOL.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I bet it was poignant, Cuz’n. And it must have been ADORABLE watching those kids, too. So cute that you got the little one a backpack since he goes to “Granny School”! He is a very lucky boy – they both are!

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I am sure many of you also heard the news of Lois Lerner’s Blackberry being wiped, too. How corrupt can one Administration be? I think we are getting a good idea:

    • Cindyindie Says:

Can you imagine what Lois is like in her private life, if she’s such a bottom-feeder in her professional life? Personally, I’d be afraid of her!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, boy – I hadn’t even though of that! You ain’t only kidding abt her being scary!

  7. HELENK3 Says:

one of the best summations of backtrack I have seen yet. Victor Davis Hanson nails his performance as president and how it was there in 2008 is only more people had looked harder

  8. HELENK3 Says:

maybe this is how we got backtrack

  9. HELENK3 Says:

a good site for a little just because pause

  10. HELENK3 Says:

    more people should see this

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, they should. The Archbishop’s comment abt his/their neighbors was particularly powerful, and sad…

  11. HELENK3 Says:

interesting but will it change any thing?

  12. Cindyindie Says:

Because of the Ferguson fiasco, based on untruths, I’ve been thinking alot lately about how really good race relations were back in the day before political correctness. How did that happen???Here’s what I posted over on NoQ (I’m too tired to re-type..LOL.)

—In the early ’70’s, I taught in a school that had been all black until that year—it was exciting to see “inaugural” integration firsthand…and to see and experience everyone getting along with each other to make it succeed… We were living Dr. King’s “dream”…and it was wonderful and exciting! Black and white, we were all proud of how far we had come, culturally, to get to that point! Damned proud!
Then when the ’90’s came along, political correctness ruled (for reasons unknown to me) and that’s when the liberals decided that “whiteys” hadn’t suffered enough for their forefathers’ sins. Common sense evaporated. Race-baiting replaced racial harmony……. A true American tragedy. And so, here we are today.

  13. Cindyindie Says:

Forgive me if I’m repeating the telling of that teaching experience—I probably am!! But I’m still SO mystified as to how political correctness negated and ruined such incredible strides we all made, racially….Just mystified!!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Not at all, Cuz. It really is remarkable to see how much has changed over the past few decades, and not for the better. I think I have mentioned that the church that sponsored me for ordination in the Episcopal Church was predominantly black. There was none of that kind of animus back then. People ranged in educational and class levels from poor neighborhood to doctors, lawyers, and teachers. No one was treated any differently, regardless of education, class, or skin color. No one. People were friendly, worked hard, and expected nothing more from each other than kindness and respect.

But you are right – since political correctness hit the scene, things have changed dramatically. Not just with race, but other areas, too. Like that ridiculous decision of a restaurant in Vermont to take down a sign because it had the word “Bacon” on it, and was offensive to ONE Muslim woman. WTH?? I don’t eat pork, either, but I sure as hell don’t care if I see the word or if others eat it. That kind of immaturity and irrationality should NOT win the day, but it seems to do so far too often. We see the same thing with the demands of atheists who expect there to be NO mention of any kind of religion lest it offend their delicate sensibilities.

What has happened to people? What happened to “live and let live”? Seems to be a thing of the past now…
