What, No Golf This Weekend? *Open Thread*

Well, heck, there is no strategy to deal with ISIS, and a strategy to do nothing with Ukraine, so why no golf for the Golfer in Chief?

Oh, it isn’t what you think. He isn’t hunkering down with his National Security Team, or Foreign Policy Advisers. Nope. He is going to the wedding of the person responsible for Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign, Sam Kass, and a news host on the Mostly Sycophantic News (for) Barack Channel, Alex Wagner. When he’s not fundraising, that is.

No, seriously – he will be fundraising. Russia is invading Ukraine (again), ISIS is on the march, and just massacred over 160 Syrian soldiers, and Obama is attending a wedding and fundraising this weekend. The latter had Megyn Kelly mighty riled up:

[…] Stifling herself momentarily as White House Correspondent Ed Henry made the dramatic announcement, she sarcastically referred to it with her next guest, Marc Thiessen, by saying, “Really? He’s gonna take a time out from all the work he’s been doing in the Vineyard to go do some fundraising while we consider whether we need to bomb Syria?”

“What’s he doing going to a Democratic fundraiser when we’re going to bomb Syria?” she asked. When (PennyP Lee began to sputter that the White House travels with the president Kelly let loose, “Oh c’mon, stop,” inferring she did not want to hear that drivel.

Lee, smiled broadly, knew that she was in a pickle, and said that the optics weren’t great, but Kelly didn’t want to hear that bunkum either, and exhorted, “It’s the actual behavior! Get back and start governing!…What’s he doing?” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

What, indeed? That is the question, and one Rich Lowry raised as well in his NY Post piece, “Will Obama let Iraq become his ‘nam?”:

The Islamic State is a force for evil that poses an imminent security threat to the United States, but please, let us get back to you on whether we’re determined to defeat it.

That is the posture of the Obama administration toward the terror group that proudly demonstrated its malevolence by beheading American journalist James Foley in a propaganda video.

For the administration, the Islamic State isn’t merely a dire enemy, it is a dilemma.

President Obama must respond to a group that — with its resources, apocalyptic vision and Western recruits — is clearly a threat to the homeland, at the same time he wants nothing to do with Iraq in particular or any new military intervention in general.

The default Obama strategy, then, will be to do the minimum necessary not to be accused of allowing ISIS to run riot. […] (Click here to read the rest of this good piece.)

Uh huh. I think it is too late for that myself, but I get his point.

And so do more Americans as The Hill reported:

[…] Fifty-four percent of the public says Obama is “not tough enough” when it comes to foreign policy. The recent crises seem to have taken a toll, as that’s up 13 points from September 2012, and up three points from November 2013.

One of those crises is the spread of the militant group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Sixty-seven percent say the group is a “major threat” to the U.S.

That’s more than the 59 percent for Iran’s nuclear program, 53 percent for tensions between Russia and neighbors, 48 percent for China and 48 percent again for climate change. (Click here to read the rest.)

That is rather a large number for concerns over ISIS, not to mention the other threats around the globe. Yet Obama’s Foreign Policy, as evidenced by Thursday’s debacle of a press conference, could be summed up thusly:

what me worry (Credit: Flopping Aces)

Or maybe this:

Yes, that seems to sum up Obama’s press conference Thursday.

Meanwhile, I just finished watching PM Cameron go off on ISIS and the very real threat they pose.(Edited to add videos.) Suffice it to say, it is a STARTLING difference. Startling. Here is the complete video of Cameron’s speech:

If you don’t have time to watch the entire speech, this one sums it up pretty well:

What I wouldn’t give for a real leader for the United States instead of the Poseur in Chief we have now…

That’s it for me. This is an Open Thread, and it is all yours now!

the difference between David Cameron’s speech today and backtrack’s yesterday is amazing. even the obots have to be embarrassed by backtrack

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I doubt your average obot has the capacity to be embarrassed. That would take the ability to see the world as it is and their “hero” for what he is.

Good for Cameron for acting like a leader. Pity the USA that has a fundraiser instead of a leader.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Well, there is that, Marge. Ugh.

I was just re-watching the beginning of Cameron’s speech, and his flat out insistence of what the threat is – radical Islamist extremism.

Meanwhile, as Helen pointed out below, our leader says we aren’t at war with ISIS, the embodiment of radical Islamist extremism…

The more we see of the Fundraiser-In-Chief the more it is apparent that the MSM that tried to tell us of his amazing brilliance sold us a bill of goods. He, and they, are not worth spit!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ain’t that the truth, Marge. It is really astonishing. I saw this morning that ABC, CBS, and NBC did not report at ALL abt the IRS scrubbing Lois Lerner’s Blackberry despite the fact she, and the IRS, were already under investigation. Not one word by any of them abt this clear violation of the law to cover up this scandal. Appalling.

I don’t know how we will ever get back to a decent media after this…

    • Katherine B Says:

Marge, that’s “spit” spelled with an “h.”

  4. HELENK3 Says:

per backtrack ” we are not at war with isis”. will someone tell the fool that isis is at war with us

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What in the hell is WRONG with him?? Seriously – that is just asinine for him to say such a thing. And it begs the question: Why AREN’T we at war with ISIS??? As you noted, they sure as hell are at war with us, and they are at war with American citizens all over the world.

There is something seriously, seriously wrong with Obama. He is endangering our country, and our people.

  5. HELENK3 Says:

nothing to stop return to the USA of the traitors that go to fight for isis.
    that needs to change NOW

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is a huge issue. I mean, it is bad enough that the borders are more porous than Swiss cheese. They can easily get in that way. But when they have PASSPORTS that allow them access, you know it is only a matter of time, especially since they are already agitating for lone wolves to target the US (Times Square being one of the places they listed).

  6. HELENK3 Says:

    isis second message to America.
these sickos have no redeeming value

  7. Katherine B Says:

Obama reminds me of the Aesop fable, the Grasshopper and the Ants. While the ants are industrious and go about storing food for lean times, the grasshopper basically plays all day. So while ISIS has been recruiting, training, invading and beheading, Obama is busy playing golf, partying with the 1% types at fundraisers and attending weddings. What could possibly go wrong?

    • kenoshamarge Says:

The number of things that could go wrong is mindboggling. For those of us who are able to think about them these are scary times. For the likes of President Grasshopper – not so much.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

By the way Katherine, thank you for my newest and most favorite appellation for Obama – President Grasshopper.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Such a GREAT analogy, Katherine – I meant to say that yesterday. Sorry!! Anyway, that is just spot on.

      Thanks for the visual, Marge!

  8. Cindyindie Says:

Great post…..”What-Me Worry” ?? Sgt. Schultz, etc…. INDEED!! LOL

And Megyn Kelly is the way reporters USED to be! Remember those good ol’ days?!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, Cuz’n Cindy! I appreciate that!

YES, she is like reporters used to be. And I do – I remember the Woodwards and Bernsteins, but where the hell are they now?? Where are those intrepid reporters who will go to any length, regardless of what the outcome is, to bring the news to the people? Not those bozos like we have now who run with rumors they don’t even bother to check on the internet. And who have a political agenda like the JournoListers. Sadly, they are few and far between. And even then, some oft he great ones, like Attkisson, lose their jobs BECAUSE they go where the information leads, not the political bent the higher ups want the stories to have.

      Anyway – thanks so much!

  9. Cindyindie Says:

Holy Shinola!! Have y’all read this??!!
Rick Perry and the rest of us common sense Texans have been warning about this!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, good grief – yes, you are absolutely right, you Texans and others of us KNEW this was going to happen as a result of Obama’s border policies.

And it really makes one wonder abt those border policies, doesn’t it? We aren’t at war with ISIS, apparently, and we have left the borders wide open for them to drive on through now. SURELY someone in the Administration had a clue abt this – surely. I mean, if the rest of us could see this coming a mile away, SURELY someone in the Administration said, “Uh, ya know, Mr. President, if you open the borders wide, that means all KINDS of people will be coming through, right?”

Of course, then he would have called them a right-wing Republican and thrown them out so I guess it wouldn’t have mattered anyway…

  10. kenoshamarge Says:

You knew it was coming – and this is just one of many…
