So About Those Terrorists In The Homeland… *Open Thread*

Sadly, very little has been made of the killing of a young American, Brendan Tevlin, by a home-grown jihadist. The jihadist, Ali Muhammad Brown, killed him just because he was an American.

But Tevlin was not the only man Brown killed (more on Tevlin below). Oh, no. From TPNN:

[…] Ali Muhammad Brown, 29, was charged with the murder of 19-year old Brendan Tevlin on June 18th. Brown also confessed to killing two people, Ahmed Said and Dwone Anderson-Young, in Seattle on June 1. In addition, he was also charged with shooting another man, Leroy Henderson, in the Skyway area of Seattle in April. All of the men were killed with a 9 mm handgun.

There is consistency in Brown’s statement to police in both King County in Seattle, and Essex County, N.J. He told authorities that he was doing his small part as vengeance for U.S. actions in the Middle East.

Q13 FOX in Seattle reports that Brown described the killing of Tevlin to authorities in New Jersey as a ‘just kill’ which he defined as as a target that was an adult male, not a woman, child or elderly person. Brown stated, ““My mission is vengeance. For the lives, millions of lives are lost every day,” he reportedly said. “Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, all these places where innocent lives are being taken every single day … All these lives are taken every single day by America, by this government. So a life for a life.”

The lack of outcry in this country is just stunning. Absolutely stunning. And we really only know about this because of a New York talk show host:

Todd Pettingill, radio host of The Todd Show in the Morning, on 95,5 in New York, discussed this jihad killings on his radio show. He said, “If there was ever a reason to riot in the streets in the name of humanity, it would be for this case. But, has that happened? No. And I’m not suggesting that it should. What did the friends of family of Brendan Tevlin do? They had a candlelight vigil. What I am suggesting should happen is that this should be talked about and written about and the American people should know. Why is Eric Holder not visiting the Tevlin family? Why is the President not going to mention Brendan Tevlin tonight? He was a young boy who was killed…for being an American.”

In addition to calling out Holder and Obama for their failure to give any attention to these jihad killings that were done on American soil, Pettingill also said, “It was in fact an act of jihad, perpetrated by a fellow American who sympathized more with those who want to annihilate us than with his own country and its people.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

I’d sure like to know where Holder and the DOJ are on this. Where is the media? Why aren’t they storming this area following every note and nuance of this case? And where are the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton? Oh, how about Louis Farrakhan speaking out about this heinous attack by a jihadist in the United States? Yeah, don’t hold your breath for them to acknowledge what has happened on our soil. I know I am not.

As to Brendan Tevlin, he was a remarkable young man – an honor student, a Eucharistic minister, and more. His parents spoke with Greta van Susteren Wednesday night:

Their heartache is palpable, as well as their shock. It is completely understandable. Again, where is the acknowledgement, the outrage, the demonstrations, the SUPPORT, for this young man and his family? Where is the hue and cry for this 19 year old, slaughtered, along with three other men, by this jihadist?

As concerns grow regarding homegrown terrorists in this country, there is another concern, one voiced here before. And that is about terrorists crossing our border. Rep. Jason Chaffetz told Megyn Kelly that FOUR men with ties to terrorists were nabbed at the border on September 10th. From BizPacReview:

[…] At a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, questioned Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson about a report that four men with known ties to Middle East terrorist groups were apprehended on Sept. 10, as they tried to cross the Texas border.

“I’ve heard reports to that effect, but I don’t know the accuracy of the reports or how much credence to give them,” Johnson said nonchalantly, while scratching his nose.

Again, this is coming from the man whose task is to “secure the nation from the many threats we face,” as the department defines its mission. […]

Uh, yeah – sorry, but I don’t have a whole lot of faith in Jeh Johnson. I have more in Rep. Chaffetz, who went on to say this to Kelly:

[…] Chaffetz noted that 466,000 people have been caught illegally crossing the U.S. border over the last 351 days, with 157,000 getting away, according to Homeland Security — those captured came from 143 different countries, including Syria, Iraq and Iran.

“We have a porous border […] I’m worried about [Islamic State militants] actually coming to the United States and crossing that porous border and getting into the homeland,” he told Kelly. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

You and me both, brother. Especially when ISIS is making “trailer” videos warning Obama of the violence they will rain down on our troops. It is not a huge leap to imagine they are here now, either having crossed our borders or as homegrown terrorists like Brown, or the man from Minneapolis who joined ISIS (and who worked at the airport with unlimited access to planes).

I wonder if our government would act the same way they did in Australia when they used a MASSIVE show of force rounding up ISIS members before they could wreak havoc? I’d sure like to think so, but I have my doubts.

How about you?

Cuz—great post! But chilling and disgusting news!

I was just thinking that the appeasing and cavalier attitudes that were shown Hitler in his early days, by England, especially, produced horrific results……Much like the liberals’ appeasing and cavalier attitudes re: sharia law, terrorists, and muslims, in general.
We are now reaping what the Dems have sown, and it’s chilling.
And now they’re all wondering how we got to this point…HA! Guess!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      Thanks, Cuz’n!

It is a bit disconcerting, isn’t it? And with the appeasement of “all things Muslim,” insisting people are Islamaphobic if they dare to mention something happening that is not, um, kosher, it has really set us up, I think.

Excellent point abt how England reacted to Hitler/Germany. One would have hoped we would have learned our lesson from that, but nooooo…

  2. Katherine B Says:

I’ve been thinking about my own reactions to Muhammad Brown, who confessed to killing Tevlin as some sort of Jihadist revenge and to the guy in Rochester, Mufid Elfgeeh, a pizza parlor owner, who was arrested for soliciting ISIS supporters. I have to confess I look at these two and see nothing but two pathetic losers. I don’t see them as great threats. I think Brown rolled out the Jihadi story to make himself seem more important than just a run of the mill killer. That doesn’t make Brendan Tevlin any less dead nor do I think it offers any comfort whatsoever to his parents. What horror they must be experiencing. They raise this wonderful son and then in an instant he is gone.

So I ask myself, what would me take the likes of these two seriously? I guess the sad answer is I’d take them seriously if they were more successful.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Sooner or later one of these murderous scum will be successful in killing enough people that the MSM will not be able to cover up for them. That will make the media, IMO, co-conspiriters. It is their job to warn the public about those who would harm us. They are failing the citizens of this country miserably in the name of a political ideology. How sick is that?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I can appreciate your point, Katherine. Though Brown was able to kill 4 men before he was captured, apparently as a jihadi. If he considers himself to be that, and considering the numbers of people in this country who are becoming self-radicalized, I think we do have to take him, and the other man you mentioned seriously, if for no other reason than THEY take themselves, and their mission, seriously.

That is to say, the only reason the 12 ISIS terrorists arrested in Australia were apprehended was technology. They planned on beheading people one at a time. Know what I mean?

And Marge, I know exactly what you mean. Even now, the media is downplaying the connection between the Boston Marathon bombers and radical Islam. Never mind that their own mother is radicalized, or that they indicated this was their intention. It just makes me wonder what the media hopes to gain by ignoring the reality of what pushed these young men to kill innocent civilians (here’s the link: Just to make your point abt their ideology interfering with their reporting.

That is all to say, I think we ignore those who are becoming self-radicalized at our peril. As Captain Nash was saying earlier today, people don’t have to go to Syria and fight under the flag of ISIS to be terrorists here – they can become terrorists while they are here, and we have seen that already (Hasan can be added to that list).

        • cindyindie Says:

Cuz—SPOT ON about the Boston marathon bombers…What the hell do they (MSM) think that was?? It scares me even more just thinking back on that…and what a pre-cursor it now seems to have been for things to come: ISIS.
This is getting scarier….. And being within a 4 hr. drive of the Mexican border doesn’t help! Militias are forming down there, which of course are being rebuffed by the Left……
I just love the way the liberals in the NE make fun of us wanting to protect ourselves. Gee, it must be nice sitting on the veranda of a home in the Hamptons, mocking at all us rednecks in Texas being afraid of the Southern border…!!!

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, Cuz’n – I know it has to be mighty scary for y’all down in Texas. Talk abt being on the front lines! Not only do you have to worry abt the diseases and impact on local resources, but you have to worry abt people with terrorist ties, too.

I totally hear you abt the NE Liberals – mighty easy for them as they sit in their Cambridge coffee shops (like I used to do – ahem) and make fun of people who are going through things they can scarcely imagine happening. They have no idea the scope and scale of the border there and with what y’all are dealing. No clue. So much easier to be sanctimonious and condescending to people who are dealing with a tremendous influx of people who have no business being here.

And heck, the feckless way the Administration has responded to the border crossings, one can hardly blame people for taking matters into their own hands. I mean, really – we aren’t a country of laws any more, are we? Not the way the president has been acting. Come to think of it, it is PRECISELY because of his lawlessness that y’all are having to deal with border lawlessness in the first place…

            • cindyindie Says:

Exactly! Of course, the administration DOES abide by the laws of fashion, social standing, etc……oh, and of course, the sacred rules of golf and basketball are fiercely observed!
That’s funny about the Cambridge coffee shop—But I’ll bet you were a very kind liberal and not a meanie.

The View From Hell: Nicole Wallace And Hostility To Conservative Women

    By Mollie Hemingway

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

OHMYGOSH – that is who Nicole Wallace is?? That explains her Palin bashing the other day, then. And what a WEAK choice for The View to have picked, but they have already shown that : a. they are not objective; b. not well informed (Goldberg had never heard of Krauthammer, but proceeded to bash him anyway); and c. cannot tolerate smart, informed women period, never mind their party affiliation.

      Thanks for this, Marge!

    • cindyindie Says:

Thanks Marge—-Nicole used to be a very fine young conservative woman….But, when she had a little cosmetic surgery done, she changed…IMHO. She thinks she’s hot stuff now. Pity.

  4. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL abt being a meanie, Cindy – I am afraid I could look down my nose at those ignorant conservatives with the best of them back then, sadly. As for the rednecks, though, being from the South, I took umbrage at the constant correlation between the two, especially since some of the biggest rednecks I ever encountered were from the NE states. 🙂

And yes, the laws of Golf are SACROSANCT, don’t you know?! I think golf has become Religion Number One with Obama…

  5. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a HUGE surprise. Looks like after all the claims, snide comments, mentioning this at every single turn every single time Christie’s name was mentioned, that – SURPRISE – there is no there there:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I meant to add, regardless what one thinks of Christie, the reason why this charge was ever levied against him was blatantly obvious: he was becoming too popular, and too much of a threat for 2016. Now, even if he is completely exonerated, this has been attached to him, and will follow him all along the way. Typical. We have seen this kind of thing time and time again. It is deplorable, and ad hominem attacks at their worst…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

And isn’t it amazing that the same DOJ that finds no reason to investigate the IRS, which impacks every person in the USA in one way or another, but can spend a year investigating Chris Christie, rising star in the GOP, who by the way is rising no more, for something that did little more than inconvenience a small number of people in New Jersey and New York?

Nine Senate Dems Vote ‘No’ On Syria, Shocked That Dingy Scheduled A Vote.

This makes the mid terms interesting.

Nine Democrats, 12 Republican and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) voted against the government-spending measure that includes authority for the president to arm and train Syrian rebel groups.

The measure was approved in a 78-22 Senate vote.

Here is the list of “no” votes.

    Tammy Baldwin (Wis.)

    Mark Begich (Alaska)

    Sherrod Brown (Ohio)

    Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.)

    Patrick Leahy (Vt.)

    Joe Manchin (W.Va.)

    Ed Markey (Mass.)

    Chris Murphy (Conn.)

    Elizabeth Warren (Mass.)

Bernie Sanders (Vt.) (caucuses with Democrats)

    Independent my ass!

    John Barrasso (Wyo.)

    Tom Coburn (Okla.)

    Mike Crapo (Idaho)

    Ted Cruz (Texas)

    Mike Enzi (Wyo.)

    Dean Heller (Nev.)

    Mike Lee (Utah)

    Jerry Moran (Kan.)

    Rand Paul (Ky.)

    Jim Risch (Idaho)

    Pat Roberts (Kan.)

    Jeff Sessions (Ala.)

Never thought I would be in agreement with the likes of Tammy Baldwin (ugh), Mark Begich, Sherrod Brown, Kirsten Gillibrand (ugh), Patrick Leahy (ick), Joe Manchin, Ed Markey (double ick), Chris Murphy, and Fauxcahontus herself, the despicable liar Elizabeth Warren. And Bernie Sanders Independent? My aunt fanny!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I think Sanders is just whacky, but apparently, there are many on the Left who just love him. One of my cousins has been putting up quotes from him on Facebook, and her Lefty friends just think he’s great. Good gracious…

And I know it is hard to agree with some of these folks. I question the wisdom of spending half a billion dollars “training” a bunch of people who cannot possibly be fully vetted. Add to that, the rebels have already said they will use what we give them on Assad. I thought the point was to repel ISIS. But what do I know. Here’s the link:

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I agree about Sanders, how anyone can vote for these lunatics is beyond me. But I believe it is past time to call out those who call themselves “Independent” when they are just liberals with an “I” after their name.

I try to tell myself, about agreeing with those I loathe sometimes, that even a blind pig finds and acorn occasionally. Problem is who is the pig, me or them?

He may be doing well on Facebook but the Dems are not doing quite so well on Twitter, at least in one section:

Democrats Hold #AskDems Twitter Townhall. It Goes About as Well As a Savvy Twitter User Would Expect.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding, huh? It seems Sanders claims to be an Indie because the Dems don’t go far enough for him. I reckon those are the folks on Facebook who just love him, too.

ROTFL abt the Dems Twitter Town Hall. That was hilarious! And the people asked GREAT questions, too. I would love to know the answers to a lot of those questions, like wow the kowtowing to illegals rather than what citizens want? Why the ACA has to be a law if its so great? And on they went. Excellent find, Marge!

          • kenoshamarge Says:

I thought the people asked great questions – which they usually do when given a chance. Funny how those who oppose the Dems are capable of asking about issues instead of just regurgitating talking points or cheap shots, or smears like so many on the left do.

  10. HELENK3 Says:

    why I love Megan Kelly

    • kenoshamarge Says:

And why the libs hate her. She strong, she’s tough, she’s smart and to top it all off, she’s beautiful. All the things the left would cheer if she was on MSNBC.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

She . Good for her for speaking up for herself and also for making it clear who Ayers is despite the Libs’ attempts to remake him as nothing more than an educator. Right.

  11. HELENK3 Says:

wonder how the American media would have reported this?

  14. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Marge, great point abt the questions people asked the Dems via Twitter. They were thoughtful and dealt with REAL issues facing us, not just the, “oh y’all are so great, how do you stand working with Republican terrorists?!!” that seem to be their bread and butter responses these days.
