And They Are Sinking Lower *Open Thread*

Yes, that would be Democrats again.

Honestly, this next example just blew me away on a number of levels from the race baiting to the complete lack of ethics and morals. This latest example comes to us courtesy of the Georgia Democratic Party, and Hot Air has the story:

[…] One of the fun subplots of this campaign is watching Democrats, starting with The One himself, feign anger at Republicans for using fear to gain an advantage while they scaremonger in increasingly cartoonish ways themselves. Mark Udall went so nuts with his “Cory Gardner hates women” message in Colorado that the Denver Post finally threw up its hands in disgust and endorsed Gardner. Now, with two weeks to go and red-state Democrats desperate to survive, it’s kitchen-sink time.

What does Ferguson, Missouri have to do with electing Michele Nunn to the Senate and Jimmy Carter’s grandson to the governorship in Georgia? Nothing and everything. The Times previewed the strategy behind this week’s multifront Democratic racial clusterfark on Sunday:

The confidential memo from a former pollster for President Obama contained a blunt warning for Democrats. Written this month with an eye toward Election Day, it predicted “crushing Democratic losses across the country” if the party did not do more to get black voters to the polls…

“Anybody who looks at the data realizes that if the black vote, and the brown vote, doesn’t turn out, we can’t win. It’s just that simple,” said Representative Marcia L. Fudge of Ohio, the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, referring to African-American and Latino voters. “If we don’t turn out, we cannot hold the Senate.”

African-Americans could help swing elections in Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina and possibly Arkansas, a New York Times analysis of voter data shows, but only if they turn out at higher-than-forecast rates. They will also be important in Kentucky, where Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democratic Senate candidate, refuses to say if she voted for President Obama — a stance that black leaders including Ms. Fudge fear will depress turnout.

Isn’t that flier just unbelievable?? It would seem they are implying a white Democrat would never let something like this happen, oh no. And if you want to make sure a black kid (who just broke the law, broke a police officer’s face, and was threatening the cop again) doesn’t get shot by a white cop, vote Democrat!! Just heinous.

But wait, there’s more and it includes similar machinations in other states:

Again, that was Sunday. One day later, the mysterious pro-Kay Hagan “lynching” flier warning about the GOP impeaching Obama appeared in Fayetteville, North Carolina. (As Noah noted earlier, the local NAACP chief defended the imagery as reflecting “what the community feels.”) One day after that, Georgia Democrats are hinting to black voters that their children might very well end up shot by white cops unless they turn out for Nunn and Carter. Wendy Davis’s dopey attack on Greg Abbott over interracial marriage yesterday was also aimed at terrifying minorities, although in that case it’s Latinos who are the target. There’s no reason to think Democrats won’t replicate this tactic for Landrieu, Pryor, and Grimes too in the next 14 days. It’s effective, and the media’s not going to shame them over it. The media agrees with them. If it really is racist to support Republicans, how can it be “scaremongering” to emphasize that point, even in ridiculously demagogic ways? Sadly, that it is too true. But it isn’t just race baiting coming into play. Here in my own state of South Carolina, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate came out with a doozy in September as Red State highlights, Vincent Sheheen Blames Nikki Haley for Kids’ Deaths, Then Walks It Back:

The Democrats sure are desperate this year. Over in South Carolina, the Democrats’ gubernatorial nominee, Vincent Sheheen, is accusing Nikki Haley of killing kids. Three children were killed by their guardians within the Department of Social Services. Sheheen wants everyone to know Nikki Haley was actually the murderer.

Except Sheheen got basic facts wrong to make his case. He ran with the ad, then had to run away from his ad. Again, he got basic facts wrong trying to pin three deaths on Governor Nikki Haley. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Except a variation of that same ad cropped up again this month. When I saw it for the first time the other day, my immediate response to my partner was, “did he just accuse Haley of killing children??” Judge for yourselves (around the 20 second mark):

So, yeah, apparently my governor is singlehandedly responsible for the deaths of children. Wow, that is quite a charge. I guess he decided not to walk that one back after all, huh? (Oh, and as for the other charges, Sheheen played fast and loose with the truth as this fact checking article highlights.

And then there are places like Cook County, IL, where a vote for a Republican automatically becomes a vote for a Democrat, as this Republican Candidate, Jim Moynihan, found out, much to his surprise. And just HOW did he find this out? He was trying to vote for HIMSELF when the switch was made.

Vote for Democrats or cause a Ferguson! Vote for Sheheen so babies don’t die! Get Out The Vote For Democrats! And if you DON’T vote for a Democrat, we’ll just change it so you do!

Good grief, there really are no depths to which these folks will sink, are there? Just deplorable, and offensive as all get out. Tell me what your policies are, what you will do to make the state better, don’t make crap up and sling it around, using race baiting or implying someone is directly responsible for the deaths of children or changing votes alrogether. That should be beneath EVERY politician, shouldn’t it? It’s a shame that apparently it isn’t…
