Wild And Wooly *Weekend Open Thread*

The fallout continues from the Mid-Term elections, though you’d never know it from some of the major Democrats, Obama included. We already knew that people like Pelosi were delusional, Obama arrogant and willfully unaccepting of the People’s voice. What else is new?

Well, the tone-deafness continues with Senator Mary Landrieu, who is still in a battle for her race. Now, I know I usually do something a bit lighter for the weekend, and this actually qualifies. Why? Because it is absolutely laughable how she is proceeding in her attacks on her opponent, Bill Cassidy. From the Daily caller:

Standing in front of a VA Medical Center construction site, Landrieu called Cassidy “wishy-washy, unreliable, undependable, not sure who he is, not sure who he was and not sure who he wants to be.”

Landrieu then proceeded to ask, “When this hospital needed a champion to build and rebuild, literally out of the rubble of Katrina and Rita, where was Sen. Landrieu? Standing here and fighting. Where was Bill?”

She even tweeted, “When the New Orleans #VA hospital needed to be rebuilt out of the rubble of Katrina & Rita, #WhereWasBill?” with a link to a press coverage of her news conference.

The attack was an odd one to make, considering Cassidy wasn’t involved in politics at the time. He wasn’t elected to Louisiana’s state Senate until 2006 and Congress until 2008, while hurricanes Katrina and Rita hit the state in 2005.

The next day, Rep. Bill Cassidy told Louisianans where he was. At the time of Katrina and Rita, Cassidy was a medical doctor in Baton Rogue, he wrote on Twitter. Moreover, immediately after Katrina hit, Cassidy took the initiative in setting up a makeshift emergency hospital in an abandoned K-Mart to administer aid and care for victims. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Ahahahahaha! Isn’t that hilarious? Here she thinks she is making a devastating blow against HIM, but since she, like so many Democrats, failed to check her FACTS, the attack is all on her. WOW. Too funny.

And now to move on from the absurd to the sublime, and that would be the beauty of Nature. As many of you know, I love on a tidal creek on a barrier island in South Carolina. Consequently, I get to see amazing wildlife every day. Yesterday and today, I have been visited by a Great Blue Heron on our dock first thing in the morning. I was able to get some shots of it, and want to share them with you now:

From Friday morning:

From a different view:

Isn’t he just glorious?

This morning, he was on top of the dock. You might notice there is a weather vane, also in the shape of a Great Blue Heron. Maybe the real one thinks the other one is real, too:

And then these little bandits made an appearance:

Here’s a close up of one of the masked bandits:

DSC_0011 (2)

I am so, so thankful that, in the midst of politicians acting poorly, like AG Eric Holder writing that people can “kiss my ass” for wanting to know about “Fast and Furious,” or the Democrats’ determination to “stick to (the) script,” despite the very, very clear message they were sent, I can look out my window and see the beauty of this earth. I can just pause from the craziness of what is going on in the United States and the world. I can just take a breath, and just be.

I hope these photos provide a moment of peace for you, too. A moment of solace before seeing what utter insanity is coming down the pike from Obama, or what “surprise” the Democrats have in store for us in this lame duck session before the new lawmakers come to town.

And if that doesn’t do it, how about this adorable little sleepy puppy:

Isn’t he ADORABLE?? Oh, just so precious.

I want to leave you with this shot I took of the little pony at Jordan’s stable:

I hope that made you smile! I love that little Peanut – he is SO cute.

This is your Weekend Open Thread. I hope it is a good one for you all!

This is the woman mentioned yesterday who was SO obnoxious to Speaker Boehner on Thurs.: http://www.bizpacreview.com/2014/11/08/cbs-reporter-asks-loaded-insane-question-with-a-smirk-that-could-anger-a-monk-157560

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Cordes is repulsive. And her masquerading as a reporter is equally so. I thought Boehner handled it very well. He looked professional and informed. She looked like a biases POS.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Honestly, I was stunned at the ay she addressed him. To say she was unprofessional is an understatement…

  2. foxyladi14 Says:

Maybe she has OBOLA Amy. 😀

  3. foxyladi14 Says:

Thanks Amy for sharing those Awesome pictures. 🙂 ❤

  4. kenoshamarge Says:

Thanks for sharing the wildlife photos. Loved them all! But I really love the racoons. I heard a racket on my back porch one morning and a very large, very angry racoon was on the railing trying to get at a very vocal squirrel who had evidently taken the last peanut from the dish I put out for them and the racoon wanted it. Racoon just looked at me at first, as if saying what do you want. After I scolded him for a minute he climbed down and waddled away. Took his time too. I looked for him every morning for a long time.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Lol, I can just imagine it. We hear the adult raccoons fussing at each other at night. It is fascinating to watch the deer, raccoons, squirrels, and birds as they interact. Generally, everyone is fine with each other. In fact, the birds hwlp out the eaccoons by knocking birdseed to the ground. 🙂

      • foxyladi14 Says:

My Son has a view of our big TV antenna and was laughing at two Squirrels up there having a long talk with each other 😀

    • kenoshamarge Says:

We have 4 birdfeeders and like you say the birds, and the squirrels knock lots of seeds on the ground. The Mourning Doves seem to prefer eating on the ground so that’s fine. I also cook rice for them – they love it! And popcorn for everyone!

Even though we live in town, and on a very busy street, we never know what we will find in our back yard. It’s rather closed in and quiet so we’ve had raccoons, groundhogs and skunks. No deer.

We also have a variety of hawks and that is not so good. They think my bird feeders are a smorgasbord. We chase them away when ever we see them. I know they have to eat too but they don’t have to eat my little ones right in front of me!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, dear abt the hawks thinking the birdfeeders are a smorgasbord! We have hawks here, too, as well as bald eagles (photo below), but yeah, we are pretty rural here, so there are lots of other things for the hawks to get. Thank heavens.

We have deer come through our yard every single late afternoon/evening (and sometimes the morning). The baby raccoons, like the ones above, come out all day long (this is abt the third litter we have seen this Summer/Fall.

We just love watching everyone, love when the fawns come through with their spots, the young bucks as their antlers develop, all of that. And then there are the big birds, like the Heron and the Snowy Egrets. Just beautiful.

So this eagle sits on this power pole in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway. I took this from the bridge from my island to the mainland (the only way on/off the island):

This will give you a laugh I hope:

After Michael Jordan recently criticized President Obama’s golf game, Obama responded by saying that Jordan should spend more time thinking about his basketball team, the Charlotte Hornets. Then Jordan said, “Do you really want to talk about whose team got crushed this week?” ~ Jimmy Fallon

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is so, so funny – and so glad Fallon is giving it back to Obama!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I was surprised, happily surprised, that Fallon didn’t turn out to be just another Obamabot. I don’t mind if comics make fun of politicians, it’s an easy joke for the most part, I just want to see it done in a bi-partisan fashion. 😉

Maybe that’s why I don’t care for Stewart or Colbert. Advocacy humor at it’s best and IMO worst. I don’t usually find either man funny. In fact most of the time I find both of them obnoxious. Not to say they don’t have their moments, but for the most part few and far between for me.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I was surprised, too. And I agree, as long as that humor is directed at both groups, fine! If it’s funny, it’s funny.

I used to like Stewart, but haven’t for a while. So much of his humor is juvenile at best. I never watched Colbert much, though there is great fondness for him in Charleston since he is from here (his sister ran for office here in 2012 – she’s a Democrat, I am sure you are shocked to learn). I’m not a big fan of using humor to put people down…

Cuz—great post! Landrieu is actually a bigger disappointment to me than Hillary—-I’m just amazed at all the gall on the Gulf by that gal— teeheehee
Thank you for the wonderful bird and animal pics/vids……Will show the boys tomorrow.
You should hear all the Dems down here talking about the election—Such language…..LOL!!

We are savoring this moment in history!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      Thank ya kindly, Cuz’n!

I totally understand abt Landrieu. She was highly regarded when she first got into the Senate, but now she has demonstrated beyond the shadow of a doubt that she will do and say ANYTHING to stay in. Sad, that…

Glad you liked the photos – hope the boys do, too! We were talking abt y’all earlier when we saw the Baylor score – WOW! They ROLLED today!! 😀

ROTFL abt the language there – I am so sure! Ahahaha. Savor away!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I hope Juan is, too. I think of Raffi whenever he goes off on the GOP being all white men. Wow…

And Raffi made a lot of great points. The NAACP needs to change its name to more accurately reflect what it is. I sure hope it isn’t a non-profit since it is CLEARLY partisan…

  9. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

IOW, she’s going to be like Holder. I hope the Senate says NO: http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/223425-obama-picks-loretta-lynch-for-attorney-general

CNN’s “War on Conservative Women” continues. Can you imagine the outrage if something like this was said about a liberal Senator? The cries of misogyny would echo throughtout the land.

Thank God we don’t have to rely on those biases bastards on CNN to get out news. I wouldn’t watch CNN’s skanky channel if someone paid me. Not even to see Jake Tapper who is usually a decent journalist on a very bad network.

  18. HELENK3 Says:

    today’s so-called feminists are a travesty

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

“Feminist” has become a bad word because of the deplorable behavior of professional Feminists, women who have besmirched the work that many of us did decades ago, now pushing the mentality that we ARE just our reproduction, and that we MUST be taken care of by a paternalistic government. Everything for which they now stand is PRECISELY against what many of us fought.

So, hell yeah, it’s become a dirty word, and they have NO ONE but themselves to blame for it.

Our Vets., deserve the very best Helen We owe them that.
and I know that you agree. 🙂

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is just deplorable how our Veterans are being treated by the VA. Not only do THEY deserve far better, but we ALL deserve better in terms of how our tax dollars are spent. They are set aside to take care of these precious people, and to squander their health and our money is simply unacceptable.

WHY is it so hard to just do the RIGHT thing instead of spending so much energy to do the WRONG thing??

  31. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Legal Insurrection brings us this quote from one of the architects of Obamacare: “This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that. In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed… Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass… Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.” (http://legalinsurrection.com/)

And here is that architect, Gruber, making the claim:

I would add, though, that the majority of Americans did NOT support the ACA. The Democrats alone rammed that down our throats. And Americans STILL do not support the ACA (it will get worse come 11/15 with increased costs). So, yeah – there are definitely “stupid voters” – the ones who voted for Obama twice.
