That’s Some Legacy, President Obama *Open Thread*

How many times have we heard about Obama’s “Legacy”? How important his “legacy” is to him, and why the Democrats shoved through Obamacare despite the will of the people they were elected to serve, among other terrible decisions Obama has made.

It is to Obama’s “legacy” in terms of the recent election that Kathleen Parker penned an article recently for WaPo. And is it a good one. Here are some of the highlights:

[…] Next we visit the clueless camp where professional pundits gather. The consensus here is that the election wasn’t a mandate for Republicans to overhaul government. I confess that I was one of these, but (mark your calendars) I was wrong. There is a difference between warning victors against the end-zone prance, as many of us wrote , and denying that Republicans were hired to do a job.

There’s also no denying that the midterms were a referendum on President Obama. The president prefers to say they were a referendum on his policies, which is perhaps an easier pill to swallow. But Obama is his policies, which happen to rub many Republicans (and at least a few Democrats) the wrong way.

Moreover, people don’t like being insulted and misled, as many feel they have been by this administration. This is not just a feeling but a demonstrable fact, especially vis-a-vis the Affordable Care Act. And it’s not just the far-right fringe who object to the strategic misrepresentations along the way.

Well, Parker sure has THAT right. We do NOT like to be misled, lied to for our own good to shove some law through, and treated like idiots by the arrogant elites. Nothing will get people riled up more than being told they were duped for their own good, and that the ends justify the means in lying, lying, and lying some more by those who claim to be THE most “transparent EVAH,” especially President Obama:

And the lying is continuing now by Democrats trying to claim how AWESOME Obamacare has been for the country since it became law. Where they come up with their information is a complete mystery to me. And it seems to be to Megyn Kelly, too, judging from her response to this Democratic hustler shill pollster, forcing the usually even-keeled anchor to get aggravated as this video, via BizPacReview, demonstrates:

Uh, yeah – I feel her pain trying to have a discussion with someone like Bernard Whitman, or other professional Democrats.

And let’s just clear up that very first lie by Whitman: health insurance costs have not gone DOWN, despite Obama’s claims to the contrary. They have risen DRAMATICALLY, as this article highlights, along with a HOST of other articles that come up when a search is done. Moreover, I can tell you from my own wallet. Our premiums have gone up over $2,000 a year since Obamacare, with our deductible rising tremendously, too. Oh, and we are set to have our premiums increased another 30% in December as a result of Obamcare. So spare me the complete and utter BS claim that costs have gone down. Newsflash: we really are NOT stupid.

But they surely do think we are. Back to Parker’s WaPo piece:

These obfuscations include telling the American people that they could keep the insurance they had if they liked it and also writing the law in such a way that the ACA’s mandate to purchase government-approved insurance was not a “tax,” despite the Internal Revenue Service’s role in policing its compliance.

The keep-your-insurance ruse is history now, but the memory still lingers in the minds of voters, who, contrary to what the Obama White House thinks, are not stupid. There’s no dishonor — and it certainly isn’t stupid — to not understand the ACA. The then-Democratic-controlled Congress that passed the thing didn’t even understand it. I’d wager that most still don’t.

Punditry aside, there’s no mystery to the midterm shellacking. It was a loud, clear shout-out to Congress to Just Stop It. Not only stop Obamacare, which more likely will end up being tweaked, but to stop executive overreach and disinformation to sway votes while betraying voters.

Those who feel defrauded by their own government got third-party confirmation recently when remarks by one of the ACA’s chief architects, MIT economist Jonathan Gruber — invoking the stupidity of voters and lauding the political advantage of a lack of transparency in government — went viral.

It is a beautiful thing when Truth trots out the door before Oops can catch him. […]

Isn’t that a great way to phrase it? But yes, that is exactly what happened. The truth will out, and many of us were vindicated in what we knew and have been saying ALL along. We know a tax when we see it, after all:

[…] The irony is that the very thing the White House was trying to conceal (because the truth was just too complicated for regular folks), the Supreme Court essentially confirmed. Enforcement of the mandate constituted a tax, not a penalty. Thus spake Chief Justice John Roberts.

This ruling, indeed, was the reason the ACA was able to go forward, which is why so many Republicans were apoplectic with Roberts’ siding with the liberals in a 5 to 4 ruling. In other words, Obama’s obfuscation was simultaneously revealed and rewarded by the court. And the American people were smacked with a health-system overhaul many more would have rejected had they known the truth. […](Click here to read the rest.)

Obamacare was indeed “revealed and rewarded.” That is what made so many of us angry at the ruling as it came down.

Parker concluded her piece by writing about trust in our government, and what happens when it is broken. And broken it surely has been by this Administration. THAT seems to be Obama’s legacy. I hope he’s happy, because we sure aren’t…

The ins. rates are going soon too.
This will bankrupt a lot of people Amy. 😡

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That they will, Foxy. It is just ridiculous, especially considering Obama’s claim that insurance premiums would go DOWN $2,500 a year. Um, no, that would be UP. Since this law has passed, our ins. has gone up tremendously, and will almost a THIRD more in Dec. Just incredible.

And ALL thanks to the Democrats.

      • mcnorman Says:

I had an zerocare crapcare plan holder bail on me for the third time on a surgery date. I can’t wait until the turd’s premiums go up. Then again, we will still be subsidizing the schmuck.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, NO, mcnorman – that is terrible!! I am so sorry to hear that on both counts – that you need to have surgery AND that ins. didn’t come through. That is just awful.

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

The rates go up. People who were quite content with their plan can no longer have that plan. You CANNOT always keep your doctor. Thousands of doctors are heading for the exits rather than try to practice medicine with the government looking over their shoulder. And for seniors? Of the remaining doctors many are making it clear that from now on their will not accept Medicare patients.

Oh yeah, Obamacare has been a boon to the nation all right. In what alternative universe do these people live? I can see someone believing at one time that the ACA might be a good thing. What I cannot see is people insisting that it’s terrific when it is so obviously not. What is wrong with these fools?

Former AP Chief Ron Fournier Laments ‘Obamacare’s Foundation of Lies’

Fournier seems genuinely surprised that the left cares so little about Gruber’s remarks and the fact that Obamacare was a giant deception from the gitgo. He never noticed? He never noticed the arrogance on “his” side of the fence that thinks it’s just dandy to do whatever to the rest of us as long as their motives were pure? Where the hell has he been all his life?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it, Marge. There are SO many things wrong with this law, including the astronomical cost of an ill-functioning website, and all you noted. Sure, some folks may have really believed it was going to do all that Obama said it would, but many of us – the majority of us – all knew it was a BAD idea for the Government to take over the most private, personal aspect of our lives – our healthcare.

And really – forcing people to pay for things they DON’T need, like birth control, and maternity leave, especially for those of us beyond childbearing age, is just ludicrous. That is just the tip of the iceberg, though.

Never mind all the doctors who have left, and the length of time for care now being imposed. Again, if people want to see what this law will do for us, we need look no further than the VA for a good indication.

As for Fournier, I am genuinely surprised at the naivete he so often evidences. It is shocking to me that he continues to extend so much faith and trust in those who deserve neither, then acts all surprised when they, naturally, do not come through. The same can be said for the MSM and its refusal to report on matters that will negatively affect Obama. This morning, I learned that NONE of the top three network news channels have reported on Gruber’s words AT ALL. Not at all.

The thing is – they are using OUR airwaves for FREE, and the least they can do is actually stop being a propaganda arm or else take out the “news” from their headlines. They should also have to start paying for the airwaves they are using since they have failed so miserably as journalists.

Anyway, thanks for the great comment!

    • foxyladi14 Says:

My Doctor is one not accepting Marge. 😡

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no, Foxy – I just cannot like your comment. That is terrible!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Mine too. Just another reason I am so outraged. Thus far I am just paying all the bills myself. How long I can manage that I don’t know.

      • mcnorman Says:

Foxy that is terrible, but if you only knew how bad this plays on the part of the physician it would infuriate you. 0care has come between the patient and the doctor. That should never have happened. If I could tell my doc to just charge me cash pay 1970s ratios, I would. Unfortunately, I know that he cannot do this without dropping all insurance including Medicare and Medicaid. He’s stuck between the rock and the hard place. It’s just horrible for everyone except those like Grubby the know it all.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I agree – the gov’t should never have inserted itself into our healthcare int he first place, but especially not putting themselves in the middle of a healthcare relationship. UGH. Hate this stupid law…

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

Once again a cartoon says it all:

  4. HELENK3 Says:

here is another part of the backtrack legacy that is going to hurt this country badly
his threatened executive orders on illegal aliens

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, wow – that is sure a powerful response to Obama’s promised lawlessness.

And here’s the thing – I keep hearing people like Judge Napolitano, and even Dem. Steny Hoyer, who is encouraging Obama to do this, say that EOs are NOT law. So WHY are they always treated as law?? That is my big question. If they AREN’T law, then why are our ICE officers being told to stand down??

So many questions, so few decent answers…

  5. Paige Says:

My son’s BCBS premium which was raised to $450 per month for 12014 has just been increased to $575.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good grief, Paige – that adds up. Did his deductible go up as well?

What a cluster this whole thing is. I can appreciate making sure that pre-existing conditions do not preclude someone from getting insurance (like it did me for 10 yrs after having had ovarian cancer – cured with surgery, thank heavens), but there are few other things that seem to be good abt this law. It is definitely wealth distribution, though even people who are getting subsidies cannot afford to use the insurance because of the expenses.

It is just ridiculous. And don’t even get me started on things like the medical excise tax, which covers things from pacemakers to Q-tips.

  6. foxyladi14 Says:

The heads of the departments treat them as law Amy. 😡

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That’s just it, Foxy. They DO treat it as law, and it makes no sense. All Congress has to do is shut down any monies for this lawless action on Obama’s part. That is how they can deal with it IMMEDIATELY.

  7. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

OHMYGOSH – delusional Nancy is at it again. Now she is claiming she doesn’t know Gruber after talking abt him all the time:

How in the WORLD do these people say this crap without just bursting into flames?!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

And yet the Dems, like lemming over the cliff, just re-elected her as minority leader. It is supposedly because she can raise more money than anyone else except Obama. Also shows that being rich ain’t necessarily being smart. Why would you keep giving money to this putz?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Isn’t that just nuts?? It says soooooooo much abt the Dems that they kept her and Reid. Wow.

And no kidding abt the rich, too. Good grief.

    • mcnorman Says:

Next we will hear Botox claim dementia.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no – she is too busy playing the victim card, acting as if questions abt her staying Minority leader are because she is a WOMAN and not because of the SHELLACKING Dems have taken under her “leadership.” What a piece of work.

        • mcnorman Says:

They are all a mess. There is not much indication that Alinsky ruling will stop though. He doesn’t care whether he burns the Dems in Congress or not. It’s his way and no other way.

  8. HELENK3 Says:

backtrack officials bash America at the UN for not living up to our values

does the US state dept work for the people of the USA or backtrack? Do we pay their salaries or does he. If we are paying them we are getting really cheated

  9. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And now there is a FOURTH video of Gruber insulting Americans regarding Obamacare:

  10. HELENK3 Says:

    this makes me sick

  11. mcnorman Says:

    Brenda put this up today.

  12. kenoshamarge Says:

Shock journalism: Jonathan Gruber scandal makes CBS Evening News

CBS had a report on what Gruber said about ObamaCare on tonight’s CBS EveningNews

Late to anything that doesn’t benefit their boss Obama CBS finally mention the Gruber fiasco. Makes them late to the news and looking sadly incompetent once again. Scott Pelley is a wonder as managing editor of the CBS even news isn’t he?

  13. kenoshamarge Says:

Oh- oh, now that their is a whole in the MSM silence dam will they be forced, gasp, to report the news even if it doesn’t make their hero look good? If it in fact shows him to be the liar he is? Stay tuned.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Actually I don’t think the Donks will care that Obama lied – I do think they will be pissed that his pal Gruber called them stupid.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, this is great – thanks for this, Marge!

And yeah, that’s probably what will matter to these people who think they know better than we do – being called stupid.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

They didn’t care that we thought they were stupid but how can they accept that their leaders think so? Or are they really just that stupid? It is a puzzlement.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, I think they all arrogantly, condescendingly, thought they were LOADS smarter than we were/are. Never mind that we were absolutely right abt everything regarding this law. And Obama, come to think of it. 🙂

Indeed, you might think that would have an effect on them. But I am thinking abt how women have allowed Democrats to tell them they cannot take care of themselves, they cannot even handle things as simple as paying for birth control, and more. They have bought it hook, line, and sinker, so who knows how this will impact them?

  14. HELENK3 Says:

    is there any difference?
