A Ten Point Plan I Can Back *Weekend Open Thread*

As we have all heard by now and discussed here on Friday, Obama has his “10-Point” plan to essentially provide a “get out of jail free” card to millions of illegal aliens currently in our country. There is much hue and cry on the Hill about Obama’s unlawful intentions, especially since Obama is blaming Republicans for the need to act outside the Constitution. This despite the fact that the Democrats held the Congress on their own for TWO YEARS and did nothing. So much easier to demonize the other side than for Obama to actually lead. That is his MO, after all. As well as ignoring that the House HAS passed Immigration bills that just sat in the Senate under Senator Harry Reid. Thank heavens that come January, we won’t have to worry about Reid stonewalling hundreds of bills lest they be difficult for Obama.

But I digress. So, Obama has prepared HIS list of “10 Points” to make sweeping reforms unilaterally. But so has the Heritage Foundation. And honestly, I like THEIRS a whole lot better than HIS. Here is their “10-Point Immigration Plan Obama Should Follow“:

[…] Instead of this arbitrary and harmful plan, The Heritage Foundation has a better 10-step plan for the executive branch–one that upholds the rule of law, faithfully enforces current law and is the right first step to fix the U.S. immigration system.

Infographic: Kelsey Harris/The Daily Signal (Click here to read the rest.)

Am I right? Those are some pretty good points. I’d say they are a far cry better than the ones Obama has concocted, but that’s just me. At the very least, let’s hope Congress stands fast against Obama’s intended lawlessness.

But hey, this is a Weekend Open Thread, so I have to share this great story with you. With so much animus toward police officers, ratcheted up by the Department of Justice and the President in Ferguson, Missouri, and while police officers are literally coming under attack by Lone Wolf Islamist extremists, the following video is a welcome reminder of what relationships with police officers can be:

How sweet was Officer Logan to those three boys? And how ADORABLE were those boys with Officer Logan? It just brings a smile to my face, and reminds me of how I learned as a child that police officers were our friends, and were to be respected. Not that there aren’t some bad seeds here and there – they are people, after all. But for the most part, the work they do, the sacrifices they make on a regular basis, should be valued. These three little boys have, without a doubt, been impacted by the kindness of this police officer, his willingness to spend time with them, to show them his motorcycle (I mean, really – who among us wouldn’t want to check out that bike??), play with his radar gun, all of that, will surely stay with them for years to come.

Finally, since Winter seems to have come in like a Lion, a classic Winter tune for you, Vivaldi’s Winter:

As always, feel free to share stories, news, music, whatever moves you this weekend. This is you Weekend Open Thread.

When people are taught to disrespect the law that will usually evolve into disrespecting the people who enforce it.

Thank God for policemen like Officer Logan! There are now 3 boys who will think twice when someone tells them how bad “cops” are. Because they know better from personal experience.

I also prefer the 10 Points from the Heritage Foundation. They speak more to who and what kind of a country we used to be and could be again with people in government that actually believed in the Constitution and that we are a Nation of Laws. I get almost sick to my stomach when Obama mouths those words. Another lie he tells and no one calls him on it.

And thanks for the Vivaldi! One of my favorites.

Here’s a cartoon I would like to share with you:

    • foxyladi14 Says:

I love the Police they have always been good to me. 🙂

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Indeed, Marge – I would not be surprised if at least one of those boys became a police officer himself after that experience. And like Foxy, my experiences with the police (when I have had any interactions with them – like when I was working with prisoners) has generally been good. I generally have a good impression of them, especially when you consider what they do on a regular basis, much less on dire occasions like 9/11. And when they go that extra step, like Officer Logan, or the police officer who stopped to play catch with a kid who had no one else to play with him, it makes a huge difference:

How we have morphed from having BEEN a Nation of Laws to where we are now continues to boggle the mind, and with such willingness on the part of Democrats. I just don’t get it. I hope we can restore our nation to BEING one of laws again, but it won’t happen as long as a Dem is president, it seems.

Anyway – great cartoon – that sums it up nicely, doesn’t it?

  2. foxyladi14 Says:

    Good Morning Friends.
It is coooold here in Ohio.
But it gets that way sometimes in November. 😆

  3. foxyladi14 Says:

    h/t Motus 😀

  4. foxyladi14 Says:

I agree with your great post Amy. ❤

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, Foxy! You stay warm up there in Ohio! (I know, Marge – you are probably laughing at us considering how winters are in Wisconsin! 🙂 )

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Got out my gloves, my furry hat and my boots. I was ready for it. Too early but WTH can ya do about it?

It is usually much milder this time of year in Wisconsin but we’re ready from Labor Day on.;)

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I bet y’all are, Marge! Good thing, too.

I knew they were full of it when they said this winter would be milder than the last one…

          • kenoshamarge Says:

Acutally the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a colder than usual winter. I take their opinon over the “Global Warming” crowd anyday. Especially since they are giving to using “Global Waming” oops now known as “Climate Change” for everything including my toaster no longer working. They have a “new” religion called “Global Warming” and like most newly converted they are fanatics. I especially love it when pinheads like Bob Beckel, who doesn’t even understand how to turn his damn phone off before going on the air, pontificates about a subject as complicated as the warming of the earth. It’s liberal dogma so he believes. Isn’t smart enough to do otherwise.

Oh and just FYI, there is snow on the ground this morning here in Kenosha. Not much, about an inch but NOT a happy sight. My leaves are not all raked, hell all the leaves haven’t fallen and now snow?

  5. piper Says:

    Good thread Amy
Will write more later on my knitting group discussion yesterday. However, my question is directed more at Marge – where the h*ll did the WI dems come up with Mary B. and think that she was a credible candidate for the governorship. Mayor Barrett had more experience and talked a better game plan than her.
Off to class – 70% chance of snow today Al Gore.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I haven’t a clue what made them think she could beat Walker. But they are completely off their rockers in their hatred of him. And you’re right, Barrett was far more credible. I think maybe they were going to use the old “war on women” meme but Walker didn’t bite and the whole thing fizzled right about then. DWS coming to Wisconsin and saying the Walker gave women “the back of his hand” didn’t help her either.

We’ve had nothing but flurries here in Kenosha and I’m glad of that. I like a few days between raking leaves, actually vacuumming them up, and shoveling snow. 😉

Yea, I could sure use a little of that “Global Warming”. (Yes I know that “climate” and “weather” are not the same but the “climate” still doesn’t seem to be warming much, if at all.)

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

My pleasure, piper! And it is a GREAT question. I wondered that myself abt Burke.

      Thanks for answering, Marge!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Without a doubt we should have. Well, many of US did, but yeah, for those who were too blinded by his “brilliance,” this is surely news to them.

mrs brown wants a double standard of justice

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I’m still struggling to understand how the parents of a thug who had just broken the law, then broken a police officer’s face as well as went for the officer’s gun, end up appearing before the UN. It is absurd that these people have been propped up so. Not that I don’t have sympathy for their loss – I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a child, especially to have him meet a violent end.

But – this family has demonstrated that they don’t exactly walk the straight and narrow in their own behavior, and that of their son’s. That isn’t intended to take away from their grief, but there has to be some recognition of the facts at hand.

It amazes the people we turn into martyrs and heroes, isn’t it?

      • kenoshamarge Says:

She is a bit of a thug herself if you read about how she attacked Michael Brown’s grandmother. Not verbally – physically! Guess the apple didn’t fall far from that tree.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, she did – beat up the grandmother. THEN went to the UN. It is just amazing to me that THESE are the people being promoted in this country. WTH?

Dem Senator vs. CNN’s Tapper on ‘Irrelevance’ of ‘This Guy Gruber’

Tapper managed to make a fool of the guy named Deon along the way too. Not that it was difficult given what Deon said.

I dont’ “do” twitter but I do enjoy reading some of them from time to time. And I do enjoy watching someone like Tapper skewer the fools who think they can go toe to toe with him. They proved they cannot.

As far as I can see just in the few “tweets” in this post by Bridget Johnson the score is Tqpper 2 – dimwits 0.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I don’t do the Twitter thing myself, but yeah, there are some Tweets that are really good. Tapper highlighted just how foolish these people are with his logic. Funny how that happens, huh? Thanks for this!

Review: David Wolpe’s “David: The Divided Heart”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely fascinating, Marge! Thank you for this. I love this kind of biblical study (shocking for a minister, I know – ahahaha). Very interesting indeed – I have passed it along to friends already!

  23. kenoshamarge Says:

Daniel Greenfield hits another one out of the park IMO. But perhaps I am just smitten. Then again I’m not sure my “smitten” even works anymore.

Obama is So Committed to Net Neutrality He Appointed a Cable Lobbyist to Head the FCC

    more: http://www.frontpagemag.com/2014/dgreenfield/obama-is-so-committed-to-net-neutrality-he-appointed-a-cable-lobbyist-to-head-the-fcc/

Let’s face it folks, everything about this POS POTUS is bogus. He is pathologically unable to show any signs of integrity. Perhaps his own self-worship is the cause. If you are you own God you can commit no sin? n’est-ce pas?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFL abt your “smitten” still working! I can appreciate that you are smitten by Greenfield, though – he is one sharp cookie as this article evidences.

And you are so right – as I watched Obama flat out lying in response to a question by Ed Henry abt Gruber this morning, so easily and cavalierly, then watching his response abt his plan for amnesty, it just makes me wonder how int he HELL so many people fell for this charlatan…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I always tended to be attracted to a good mind and a great sense of humor. A pretty face doesn’t hurt but what’s between the ears has always mattered more to me. Because of that I remain disgusted with the way so many women are more concerned with what goes on between their legs than between their ears. But then if they’re fans of scumbags like Lena Dunham there isn’t much going on in the little gray cells anyway as Hercule would say.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So, so true – it really is remarkable to see what the focus is of so many women these days. I swear, I just cannot believe where we are now. Talk abt the pendulum swinging back – except that it was the freakin’ “FEMINISTS” who did the swinging. Ugh.

And not a doubt – far more important what is going on in the gray matter…Being funny is a big plus, too!

  24. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Marge, in response to your comment abt climate change becoming a religion, very well said. That is precisely what is has become. Actual facts seem to have less of an impact than the rhetoric, something that seems to be the hallmark of the Dem. party. Again, as I have said a thousand times, we should definitely take care of our planet, and try not to harm her as much as possible, but to distort facts as many in the scientific community have, and have ADMITTED, and still act as if this is “settled science, ” as Obama proclaimed, is ridiculous.

Unfortunately, so much of this has become simply politics, that when those who highlight that the scientific models are incorrect or that there has not been any change in almost 20 yrs (despite Gore’s Chicken Little schtick that we were DOOMED in just a few years), are called “flat earthers,” and ridiculed, it puts ACTUAL science on the back burner.

And yeah, I’d go with the Farmer’s Almanac myself! Yikes abt the snow, especially since the leaves aren’t gone yet.

  25. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks to BizPacReview for providing Judge Jeanine’s excellent opening from last night:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Do any of you remember back when MSNBC got rave reviews over Olbermann’s statements? I actually was a Dem back then and watched from time to time. Since I was very much against the war in Iraq and George W. Bush getting us involved I watched Olbermann sometimes. In time he became repetitive and boorish as well as boring.

Judge Jeanine could teach Keith Olbermann a thing or two. She’s never boring, never boorish and if she repeats something it’s because it needs repeating not because she has nothing else to say.

I guess I came to be bored with Olbermann because it was apparent that after his first few “rants” were popular the others were just to get viewers.

With Judge Jeanine you have the feeling her passion is fueled by her beliefs and if she was alone in a room she would say and think the same thing. She’s athentic. Him? Not so much.

She’s exactly the kind of strong, smart, accomplished woman that feminists always claimed they wanted. They lied.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I used to be a big fan of Olbermann’s, Marge , but you are right. He became more boorish, and I might add, he became pretty mean, too.

Judge Jeanine is not boorish in the least, and I concur – she is fueled by passion and convictions, not ratings or adulation. I think Olbermann, like Obama, believed his own hype.

You are SO right abt what feminists said they/we wanted vs. what they actually want. Pirro, Palin, Kleefisch, Haley, the list goes on of strong conservative women who have been TRASHED by feminists not for anything else but being conservative women.

        Great comment!

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      Sharing Amy thanks 😀

  26. foxyladi14 Says:

    Yes she is Marge .
    I love the Judge . 🙂

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I do too. Exactly the kind of woman I would like to see as a role model for young women instead of some dim celebutard like the butt obsessed Kardashian twit.

  27. kenoshamarge Says:

Derek Hunter has a brilliant, IMO, post up at Townhall this morning. The problem is getting black people to listen. It’s like they, for the most part, have Stockholm Syndrome.

Dear Black People: The Democrats Are About To Break Up With You

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a GREAT article, Marge! It should be so obvious just what the Dems have done to this community, how they have used them at their own expense. Perhaps this amnesty thing will finally break through, because yes, the way “progressives” have “taken care of” this community in cities like Detroit is the kind of help they could do without, it seems.

IOW, it would be a good thing for the black community if the Dems did break up with them; better yet if they broke it off first…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Detroit and Chicago are perfect examples of cities that have been run by Dems for generations. Cities where decent people of any color are not safe. And yet still they vote in people who enrich themselves at the expense of the very people they claim to help. There really are none so blind as those who will not see. You can’t help people who cannot or will not face the facts.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Wells aid, Marge. Perhaps it is the old “frog in a pot” thing – they don’t realize how bad it is until the water is boiling. But even then, those responsible just blame the other side, engage in constant ad hominem attacks, and get people to blame those who had no control over the situation. Like you said, “none so blind…”

  28. kenoshamarge Says:

I’m baaaak, and look at what I found…

If the arrogance of Jonathan Gruber has you knashing your teeth perhaps you shouldn’t read Byron York’s column. It made my blood pressure rise and made me mad at ex-Governor Doyle all over again.

Not surprising that Scott Walker scrapped the report, and took heat for doing so. Now he’s looking pretty savvy as more comes out about the despicable Gruberwweasal. And Gruber, he did very well for himself promoting a bill that made him a whole lotta money.

Grubergate shines spotlight on Obamacare profiteers

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, yeah – Gruber has made a TON of money from the government over the past few years, not just for Obamacare. He has made almost SIX MILLION DOLLARS: http://dailycaller.com/2014/11/14/gruber-has-made-at-least-5-9-million-for-government-work/

So, yeah, I ain’t so happy that this bozo has gotten filthy rich off of our taxpaying dollars. Grrrrr.

Thanks for the York article. He is another one who often has good things to say.

And good point abt Walker – that should be another good selling point for him should he choose to run for President.

Btw, thinking of you and Helenk as your two teams battle it out right now! 🙂

backtrack takes time to meet ferguson activists. he does have odd priorities

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is astounding the people with whom Obama WON’T meet, isn’t it? You’re right – he has some mighty odd priorities.

Sure would like to know what “stay the course” means to him…

  30. HELENK3 Says:

congratulations on your team’s epic win. they did a really great job.
my team needs a lot more practice

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Thanks Helen. I almost hate to see the Packers win by so much. They’ve scored over 100 points in the last two games and that can make a team cocky – and that is not a plus. It should narrow the gap on the MVP race for Aaron Rogers since Manning threw two interceptions in a losing game. I can only hope since so many had counted him out. He didn’t listen and look at him go now!

By the way, the losing Dems could learn a lot about class from you my friend!

  31. HELENK3 Says:

here goes gruber again. now it is seniors who are stupid.

Is there anyone in his tiny little mind that is not stupid? Considering that he keeps opening his mouth and inserting feet, seems to me he is the stupid one

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Arrogant fools like Gruber never seem to understand that he is the fool for not keeping his big yap shut. A closed mouth gathers no foot.

And right on schedule the other big liar in the news, that would be our dishonest POTUS, tossed him under the bus. Gruber who?

Obama Calls the Architect of Obamacare ‘Some Advisor Who Never Worked on Our Staff’

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Don’t you wish Ed Henry had said, ” well, Mr. President, he had several meetings in the Oval Office with YOU on this issue. But you don’t remember the man to whom you worked with to come up with the Cadillac tax??” Ahem.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

If the networks actually cover this, I am thinking the percentage of Americans who hate this law (already the majority) is going to grow quite a bit and demand this law be repealed. Hey, I can hope, can’t I?

Btw, I saw Melissa Francis this morning talking abt her experience at CNBC while this whole issue was going on. She was told she was being disrespectful to the office of the president, or something like that, but saying the numbers didn’t work. She told them it was not abt politics, it was abt MATH, and the numbers didn’t add up. She was called in a few times on this.

Yep – the media was completely complicit in promoting this hoax on us. They should be dismantled, too.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

It seems yours is not a forlorn hope. 😉

As New Enrollment Period Starts, ACA Approval at 37%

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

We know that it was NEVER approved of my the majority – EVER. That it was passed by the Dems in clear opposition to the will of the people, and especially learning how incredibly duplicitous, manipulative, and downright immoral the Powers-That-Be acted to get this through, I bet those numbers go lower.

I don’t give a DAMN how hard it is to repeal it instead of logistics – it needs to be repealed. The companies that took so much money for the crappy website need to return some of our money. There is no excuse for them profiting on a poor product at our expense.

Just because it is hard to set things right doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. And in this case, it definitely needs to be done.

  32. kenoshamarge Says:

I don’t know if you saw this clip from “Media Buzz” but I found it interesting. Of course I’m a big Sharyl Attkisson fan as well as an Ellison Barber fan so it was a twofer for me.

Sharyl Attkisson Discuss Bias in Media’s Coverage of Gruber Comments

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I had not seen this – thanks so much for it, Marge! She really is something, isn’t she?

One can hope that all of this, including the link Helen posted abt seniors, is going to avalanche and help get this terrible law undone.

And you’ll be happy to know that Sharyl has a part in my post coming up today. 🙂

The media in this country is pathetic. Seriously. Anyone who chooses to get their news from the networks in particular is just choosing to not know. Then again, how would they know, right? Sigh.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Glad to hear you will be posting more about Attkisson. She took a big hit in finance and being in front of the public when she left CBS. Evidently for her integrity meant more than money or fame.

Sad thing is that one of the people who helped push her out the door, Scott Pelley is doing well – at least financially. He’s a little man with little integrity and I cannot articulate how much I loathe him.

Funny how a little weasel like that knew that pushing Attkisson would make her decide to leave. Shows that he knows what integrity looks like even if he has none.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, I am sure she did take a financial hit, but that speaks volumes abt her, as well as reinforces what we know – she is a woman of integrity.

I hope her book sells like gangbusters. Still waiting on my copy, but I meant it when I said I would share with anyone here who wants to read it after me! 🙂

As for the little weasel, he will have his comeuppance some day, I hope…

  33. HELENK3 Says:

had a random thought this AM.
the dem voters found out through gruber the dems will not respect them in the morning

    • kenoshamarge Says:

They never did respect them and they never will. Too bad most Dems refuse to see that. I swear they are all suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. The term useful idiot comes to mind.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I think you are right – it is like Stockholm Syndrome. They will defend them no matter how much the Dems are hurting them, reaching into their (our) pockets, and making their lives worse. As long as they continue to blame the Reps (like I heard a woman do on American’s Newsroom this morning over Gruber), they will continue to support them…

  34. HELENK3 Says:

maybe backtrack did not proofread the book bomber billy ayres wrote in his name

    • kenoshamarge Says:

The number of times he says one thing, and then later says something else is too numerous to count. He’s a pathological liar who has been shown, repeatedly, to be a liar and yet the media still tries to cover for him. Their credibility sinks right along with his.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So, so true – and this is in large part on what my current post focuses – the lies and duplicity of Obama.

Not for nothing, but many in the black community are opposed to this whole illegal alien amnesty thing, too. So he is hurting blue collar workers, and the very people who helped propel him into the White House.
