Obama’s Immigration Executive Action A Threat To The Constitution *Open Thread*

by

As Obama continues to threaten to push his Immigration plan at the beginning of December, the Constitutional difficulties this presents continue to be raised. One such person sounding the clarion call is George Washington Law professor, Jonathan Turley.

You may recall that it was Professor Turley who testified before Congress several months ago, and was declaring Obama’s actions were bringing this country to a Constitutional tipping point:

It is powerful indeed coming from this man, a noted liberal, who is declaring for all to hear that Obama is acting in a manner that is a threat to our government.

Well, he isn’t done yet. Now Professor Turley is taking aim at Obama’s intentions regarding Illegal Aliens. Here he is from an appearance on Megyn Kelly’s show recently (h/y Facebook friend for alerting me to Turley’s appearance):

Clearly, Obama has decided he doesn’t have to listen to clowns like Turley.

Maybe Obama should just listen to himself from a few years ago:

Or maybe he can go look at some of his old campaign pledges:

Clearly, he will NOT obey the Constitution, no matter if he “taught” it or not (and for which he received many poor evaluations from his students, ironically going down consistently in popularity over the years). Then again, it seems Obama didn’t teach a lot of classes:

[…] At the school, Mr. Obama taught three courses, ascending to senior lecturer, a title otherwise carried only by a few federal judges.* His most traditional course was in the due process and equal protection areas of constitutional law. His voting rights class traced the evolution of election law, from the disenfranchisement of blacks to contemporary debates over districting and campaign finance. Mr. Obama was so interested in the subject that he helped Richard Pildes, a professor at New York University, develop a leading casebook in the field.

His most original course, a historical and political seminar as much as a legal one, was on racism and law. Mr. Obama improvised his own textbook, including classic cases like Brown v. Board of Education, and essays by Frederick Douglass, W. E. B. Dubois, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, as well as conservative thinkers like Robert H. Bork. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Gee, what a surprise – two out of three classes were focused on Racism. Shocking – that NEVER comes up with him. Ahem.

* And about that title of his. Seems Obama was not as awesome as the title would imply considering he was never offered tenure, according to this Daily Caller article. Seems that there was just a bit of embellishment by a NY Times “journalist,” according to the article. Shocking, I know.

No wonder Sharyl Attkisson claimed that “Attkisson: Faith In Government Has Declined Due To Obama Administration Lies [VIDEO],”laying some of the blame squarely at the feet of the media. She ain’t only kidding, is she? Here’s more from the Daily Caller:

[…] “They (the public) are getting a really skewed picture of what is happening in government and the news,” she claims. “They are getting narrow slices of propaganda,” she added, admitting that America is starting to resemble regimes who manage the news for their citizens.

In this video, she compares the deeds of President Richard Nixon to those of President Barack Obama, and the different treatment by the press in each case. In her opinion, the Obama administration’s offenses are just like the Watergate burglary and Nixon’s dirty tricks, “whereas there has been loss of life – Benghazi and Fast and Furious” during the Obama tenure. Beyond the press pressure though, she notes that senior Republican public defections played a major part in Nixon’s downfall, something she does not see happening within the Democrat party today for Obama.

She admits that Obama gets special treatment, but leaves it to others to decide why exactly that’s the case. […] (Click here to read the rest and watch the video.)

Uh, yeah – between the media and the Democrats who seem to forget why they are there other than to do Obama’s bidding, I’d say people have lost faith in the government. And worse, Obama doesn’t seem to care.

Bottom line, I do not think Obama was quite on the same level as someone like Jonathan Turley, and does it ever show. I suppose it is a possibility that even if he was a true Constitutional scholar, he might still attempt these un-Constitutional ventures, especially since Democrats seem to have abandoned the Constitution. But if he truly had a love for the Constitution, and our form of Government, I would think he would work harder to uphold it, not shred it. But that’s just me.

Oh, and Professor Turley. Perhaps Obama could take just a minute and listen to a real Constitutional Scholar. Just a thought, especially since Obama took an oath to uphold it and everything. I know, picky, picky…

So, how about you? What’s on your minds today? This is an Open Thread.

    Spot on Amy.
Obama is a Dick Tater. 👿

To me it seems that Obama is A. determined to get his own way no matter what and B. intent on provoking the GOP into doing something stupid that will bring the public back to Obama’s side.

His deliberate tactic of provocation can work if the right isn’t smart enough not to take the bait. I hear the flame throwers out there insisting he be impeached. Not gonna happen! There aren’t the votes and that will only alienate the Independents and some AA voters who are starting to see that he does not have their best interests at heart.

IMO the left is seriously divided right now and trying to impeach Obama would only unite them. And that would not be in the best interests of anyone. JMO. Believe me I would love to see this arrogant POS impeached and sent on his way, humiliated and rejected. But it will not happen. We have to be smarter and more patient.

At least that’s how I see it.

I agree, Marge. It is up to the Republicans to not catch the hot rock Obama is throwing to them.

Rep. and Senator-elect James Lankford addressed this very issue yesterday in terms of a shutdown of the gov’t to rein Obama in:

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Kurt Schlichter had a column about that this morning. I watched that section yesterday and liked what that Congresscritter had to say. I thought Tom Cotton sounded kind of mealy mouthed but maybe that’s just me. But I was impressed with Lankford. I hope Cotton is better than he appeared yesterday.

I am really getting to like this Kurt Schlichter. He’s tough but not stupid like some of the neo-cons and he’s also patient, unlike some of the bomb-throwers.

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Putting this down here because sometimes wordpress punishes me for having too many links. Any way here’s some information about Schlichter I wasn’t aware of but makes me like him even more.

Oh, yeah – that was awesome! And he has a great point. It makes me so mad when people think they are entitled to what others earn who have worked hard to get to where they are.

            Yep – he’s something, that Schichter! 🙂

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a great article, Marge! Thank you for that. Yes, he has a good sense of humor as he makes clear that Republicans need not shoot themselves in the foot, and just step back. Perhaps some popcorn is in order.

And he makes a great point that not reacting to some of these measures is not the same as doing nothing. It IS doing something – it is not engaging on their level, and allowing them to expose themselves for who they are.

Now to read more abt Schichter! Thanks!

          • kenoshamarge Says:

I was struck by his point about “not reacting to some of these measures is not the same as doing nothing” too. I look for his posts now.

this is the time to give backtrack enough rope to hang himself. just sit back and watch Congress can start doing the job they are paid to do. As far as the dems, with all the lying, bad bills and insulting videos coming out they are about to go the way of the whigs.
The gruber videos are the one step over the line

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I agree Helen. The Gruber videos are making the rounds in spite of most of the MSM trying to ignore them This is why I am so much against the so-called “Net Neurtrality”. I don’t want the government involved. I don’t want them to be able to decide what we do and do not know. I don’t trust them!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Exactly, y’all. Great cartoon, too. Did you see Branco at Legal Insurrection today? It is spot on:

And yeah – serves the media right that we are all figuring out how to get around their pathetic bias and refusal to report the news.

          • kenoshamarge Says:

I missed Legal Insurrection this morning. Thanks for sharing. I saw another cartoon somewhere about the “net” not being broken. Just another way to try to control us and keep us from getting the information we need to make informed decisions.

Love that Branco! He’s always on top of it.

not the sharpest tools in the shed are they? so when the businesses they attack leave the area and open somewhere else, and they are out of work and then homeless because they can’t keep up the mortgage payments will we have to listen to them cry and claimed they are owed?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What the hell is wrong with them? What the hell does the salary of the power company’s CEO matter in this situation? What do ANY of those business have to do with a police officer having to shoot someone who was a criminal?? So, they are advocating MORE criminal behavior as a result?? This is just ridiculous, and I blame the WHITE HOUSE for this reaction. This is ALL on them.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      That says it all!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

It sure does. And sadly, all too true! Who could have imagined a president of the United States inciting riots? I never thought to live to see the day. We’ve had bad president before but this is a whole new level of bad.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding, Marge. I could have lived my whole life happily without having a President like Obama. What he has managed to do to this country in 6 short years is appalling. I blame the Dems for letting him get away with it all, AND for jumping in gleefully to support him in his endeavors.

There might never have been an “emergency” if Nixon had done his damn job from the beginning instead of hanging the cop out to dry. He’s a stupid POS and a lot the problems are on him. His job was to try to calm the situation not play his liberal b.s. and make things worse.

  15. kenoshamarge Says:

Good Morning all. It is a frosty 11 degrees with a strong wind here in my little corner of paradise. Brrrrr… And it’s expected to get worse before it gets better. I think November and December decided to skip their appearance this year. So Happy New Year folks!

Still found a cartoon to make me smile through my frozen tears.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, BRRRRR, indeed, Marge! That is pretty nippy.

We are at 36 right now, very cold for us anyway, but especially at this time of year. Heck, I still have roses blooming, for heaven’s sake! And an azalea bush that decided to bloom! Sigh.

The cartoon is absolutely perfect – just perfect!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

My white climbing rose and the lovely coral Camelot rose were also blooming just last week. Both are on the south side of the house and quite protected. Even a hanging basket was still going strong. Now all is devastation.

The big maple tree in the neighbor to the norths yard, which over hangs my yard and deposits most of it’s leaves on my side of the fence, still has leaves, lots of leaves on it.

Yesterday we were able to watch snow and leaves falling at the same time. Very strange sight indeed.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, dear – I am so sorry to hear that, Marge! Good grief. What a strange sight that must be!

    • foxyladi14 Says:

Same here Marge. But look on the bright side we are one day closer to Spring. 🙂

coming cries about GOP disrespect presidency.

    bob beckel does it now

    • kenoshamarge Says:

That would be funny if it wasn’t such b.s. Respect for the presidency? Where was the respect for the office when Bush was in office. As for Beckel there is nothing he says that matters. His brain died long ago and his body and mouth have lived on. I do not understand what “The Five” thinks he adds to their program. I quit watching and don’t miss it a bit. Especially his big mouth!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

NO KIDDING!!!! It is astonishing to hear the sheer breadth of hypocrisy coming from the Left demanding respect for the office of the President after the way they went after Bush, Bush, and Reagan. Just absurd.

And Beckel – the same one who said yesterday that of course he had to believe Obama abt not really knowing Gruber. REALLY?? Maybe he should read my new post for today (up now).

I am so sorry to learn you have had to deal with this too, Marge.

It is heartbreaking. What a lovely, accomplished young woman she was…
