“Strange (Make that Illegal) Bedfellows,” And States Unite! *Open Thread*

While the country has erupted over a police action first in Ferguson, then in NYC, there have been some other major developments occurring in Washington, DC. I know, SHOCKING that the media and White House would work to distract the American citizenry from actions in which they are engaging.

Oh, and no, I didn’t mean the Media and the White House being “strange bedfellows,” though bedfellows they most certainly are. I am referring in this instance to the IRS and the White House. You may have heard in passing stories about the White House requesting, and RECEIVING, thousands of pages of confidential taxpayer information. Yep – the IRS and the White House have been colluding together, and beyond what we already know about the IRS, Lois Lerner, and targeting certain groups.

Greta van Susteren has a major issue with this, as we all should. She spoke with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) Wednesday night on what the Congress is doing about this illegal activity:

Uh, yeah, good points there. And it begs SO many questions, as van Susteren raised, including WHY is the White House requesting this information? WHY is the IRS providing this information to the White House? And WHY does the White House refuse to show us what they got from the IRS?? There is something very wrong here. The Daily Caller has more on this in the following article, Obama Administration REFUSES To Release Documents About White House Role in IRS Scandal:

[…] Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew, Obama’s former White House Chief of Staff, took the documents that were set to be released and now refuses to ever turn them over. His rationale? Lew cannot release information about improper disclosures of confidential taxpayer information because that would be an improper disclosure of confidential taxpayer information.

The Daily Caller reported that the Treasury Department’s inspector general found nearly 2,500 pages of documents that chronicle investigations into the confidential taxpayer information that the White House exchanged with the IRS. (RELATED: Thousands of Documents: IRS Gave Taxpayer Information To White House).

The documents were found pursuant to a lawsuit that the legal advocacy firm Cause of Action filed against the Treasury Department’s inspector general.

The lawyer for the inspector general, Gregory M. Miller, told Cause of Action this week in a letter that Lew seized the documents.[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

Once again, we learn about this from some outside group doing the work that needs to be done. But WHY does it take them requesting this information for us to learn about it?

Just infuriating. And on this point, I will let Greta van Susteren have the last word:

Well said, Ms. van Susteren. So many questions, so few decent responses or actions…

Speaking of actions, there are now 17 states that are moving to sue President Obama over his massive power grab with amnesty for illegal aliens. Most of the time, the Governor-elect of Texas is mentioned, but as noted, there are a total of 17 states involved, including South Carolina. From Greenville Online:

[…]”This causes direct harm to the state of South Carolina,” Haley said. “Look at the signal you’re sending to the rest of the world that we are now a country that doesn’t follow the law. And when they see we are a country that doesn’t follow the law, we can expect more illegal immigrants to come into South Carolina.”

The case was filed Wednesday in Federal District Court in the Southern District of Texas, according to Wilson’s office.. The multistate coalition includes Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

“While we are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation founded on the rule of law,” Wilson said. “Immigration reform is long overdue. However, immigration reform must come through responsible measures passed by the people’s representatives, not unlawful strokes of President Obama’s pen which ignore the Constitution.” […]

Good for Gov. Haley, and good for the state of South Carolina. The states MUST stand up to this Executive power grab since Congress can’t, at least not yet. Gov. Haley’s remarks continued:

[…]”President Obama is attempting to do through executive fiat what Congress has not legislated. In doing so, he is refusing to faithfully execute the laws that were duly enacted by Congress,” Wilson said. “Instead, he is attempting to rewrite our nation’s immigration laws – which on numerous occasions he previously said he lacks the authority to do.”

South Carolina and the other 16 states allege that the executive action on immigration conflicts with the President’s constitutional duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” The Take Care Clause, according to Wilson, limits the scope of presidential power and ensures that the chief executive will uphold and enforce Congress’s laws – not unilaterally rewrite them under the cover of “prosecutorial discretion.”

The states also allege that the order fails to comply with the Administrative Procedure Act’s required notice and comment rule-making process before providing that legal benefits like federal work permits, Medicare, and Social Security be awarded to individuals who are openly violating immigration laws. […]

Yes, Obama’s executive action certainly is an affront that act, and so much more:

[…] Governor Haley continued: Haley said there are at least 588 undocumented children in the state but federal officials have not informed the state “who they are, where they are, where they are going, who their sponsor is.”

“We are required to educate illegal immigrants,” Haley said. “We are required to give heath care to illegal immigrants. How much more are you going to require the states to do for people who are not citizens of South Carolina?”

Haley said Obama “has decided to violate the law.”

“We are saying this is wrong,” the governor said. “We’re pushing back. We’re not just pushing back as one state but as 17 states. We have to show him, if there ever was a time in this country where the rule of law matters, it’s now.”
[…] (Click here to read the rest.)

There is more to this story, including the response of our Attorney General, Alan Wilson, as he enunciated the numerous ways in which Obama’s overreach was a illegal. But I think Haley summed it up perfectly: what Obama did was wrong. Plain and simple.

Okay, that’s it for me. I reckon I could have just said that I am disgusted by this Administration and its lawlessness, but there are just so many reasons why, I had to share some…

The states suing the Obama administration are Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

    Good for Governor Walker!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Oops, should have included this in comment about:

Wisconsin is one of the 17 states joining the suit, and Gov. Scott Walker requested Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to join the suit. Van Hollen complied, saying it’s clear that Obama exceeded his authority. Walker said in a statement the immigration system is broken but should be addressed through collaborative federal action.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No worries (the states are listed in the post above, btw), and I am thrilled that Wisconsin is one of them, too. That does not surprise me one bit considering how much Walker has demonstrated he cares abt the overall health of your fine state.

I like Abbott a lot, and maybe it is because he has already successfully sued the Obama Administration, but it is interesting that they aren’t talking to some of the other excellent governors who are in on this suit. Just curious to me.

Anyway, that is outstanding for Wisconsin, and glad van Hollen concurred with Walker’s assessment. That is great news, Marge!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I read the post and somehow missed the list. Another damn senior moment!

Sometimes when reading about what is happening in this country and watching the dishonest and downright stupid media I wonder if we’re all stuck in a senior moment that goes on and on…

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL – no worries, Marge – I missed it the first time I read through the article myself! No doubt there was a “squirrel!” or something that diverted my attention. So I totally get it!

And oh, my – that carton is SO good!!

Great post Amy I stole one of the Videos. 🙂

I am so proud of Walker too Marge as well as the rest of them. 🙂

He keeps proving himself to be the man I had hoped he would be. I thought he must be because the hate the left has for him is so off the charts insane.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank heavens for that, huh? And yes, no doubt that is precisely why the Left is so fearful of him…

it is about time and long overdue

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I don’t understand why there was ever a question about this. Oh wait, our idiot President and AG called it “work place violence” of some such b.s.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding!! Good grief, how ANYONE ever went along with this when the FBI had been investigating his radical ties and allegiances, when he was basically preaching jihad to his fellow officers, and was yelling out to Allah WHILE gunning down his fellow soldiers, is just astonishing. Honestly, it is pathological, IMHO. There is just no other way to describe it. Obama and Holder twice victimized those poor people at Fort Hood.

Thank HEAVENS they are finally going to get their due. It is about damn time.

  7. kinthenorthwest Says:

Sorry about that Amy–I posted this on the last page.
Great post and run down of what is happening with all this Obama Crap.
I said on yesterdays that my favorite video was the one of Trey Gowdy taking down Marielena Hincapie ….Still can’t believe our taxpayers money goes to pay people like Hincapie
You are so lucky to have Trey as one of your reps….

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No problem, Kin – I am glad you brought it forward. It was an EPIC questioning by Rep. Gowdy, especially as he held this putz to account for calling him, and all Republicans RACIST for disagreeing with Obama. Dang, that was some smack-down, and richly deserved.

Thanks so much – and yes, we are very lucky to have Trey, Tim, Nikki, and more! 😀

      • kinthenorthwest Says:

I was just a cheering away–Good thing we had a 2 hour ice delay today..Cause if I had seen that at work I might had to Contact Trey for a new job.
I mean it Amy I was just a stomping and a hooting listening to Trey…
Trey has to run in 2016….So I can hear him speak and maybe shake his hand..I know he would make mincemeat of Hillary…

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL, I hear you, Kin! He is really something. But honestly, I think he should be the new AG – he is one of the few who will right the ship that Holder has done his best to wreck and make anything but just.

Or how about 5 year old Laylah Petersen who was sitting on her grandfather’s lap in the living room of a home . on Nov. 6 when unknown suspect(s) walked up to the house and fired several shots, striking her in the head.

  10. kinthenorthwest Says:

Do we Say Thank You Obama yet…It would take me all day to list the items that we are supposed to be thankful to Obama for so I will just post a snippet from this article . In the 70s and 80s we would call this comical, but its true.

It’s official: America is now No. 2
Hang on to your hats, America.
And throw away that big, fat styrofoam finger while you’re about it.
There’s no easy way to say this, so I’ll just say it:
We’re no longer No. 1. Today, we’re No. 2. Yes, it’s official. The Chinese economy just overtook the United States economy to become the largest in the world. For the first time since Ulysses S. Grant was president, America is not the leading economic power on the planet.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

UGH. Just freakin’ UGH. Bad enough that our national debt has escalated SEVENTY PERCENT under Obama, but that our nation is now behind China under his “control” is appalling.

The U-Va. Rape Case and Feminist Confusion

I would like to see every rapist behind bars. Actually I would like to see much worse things happen to them but I try to remember that I am civilized whereas a rapist is not.

I think rape is one of the most heinous of crimes. But when rape is yelled not because someone has been brutalized but to make some kind of a feminist point I am beyond disgusted.

This trivializes the trauma of every rape victim. This makes future accusations of rape suspect. I don’t believe there was a “Jackie” or if their was that things happened the way she said they did. And Rolling Stone has done the feminist cause no good with it’s shoddy reporting.

And I don’t have the stomach to even go into the despicable Lena Dunham’s “I was raped by a Republican” b.s. Who, other than a scumbeotch like Dunham even says something like that? Do you check the party affiliation of rapists now? Is it relevant in some way? WTH is wrong with women like her? And why does anyone, listen to her? Ugh, I need to go wash my mind out and sanitize my brain after even thinking about that POS!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank you for this commentary, Marge. I could not agree more abt rape being a heinous crime.

As for “trivializing” it, that is precisely what happened in the case of the Dem Senate Aide I mentioned in comments who got ZERO jail time after raping TWO women. TWO!!!! He’s on probation. And my Obot sister added that he has to register as a sex offender, so there’s that (she mentioned that TWO sites covered this, WaPo and HuffPo, as if that was sufficient given what happened to the GOP aide you mentioned yesterday who lost her job for acknowledging the TRUTH abt the Obama girls. WOW.).

It is deplorable. It is deplorable that Dunham makes those kinds of comments, or that Sandra Bernhardt hoped her “black brothers” would rape Sarah Palin, and on and on.

I am so disgusted with where things are now. Disgusted with the ratcheting up of racial violence and division, the sheer disdain and disregard for the rule of law, including by some whom I respect (Napolitano, for instance, who by his own admission on Special Report last night said he had seen NONE of the Garner evidence, but that didn’t stop him from questioning their decision and calling it wrong. Never mind that bit by bit, it is now coming out that it was NOT a chokehold – you cannot TALK when you are being choked!). I am just sick of it, and sick of what the Dems have done to our country,,,

      Anyway – great comment!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I too was amazed at what Napolitano said. And many/most of the others who are commenting on this at FOX. Do they have some special insight? Do they know something that the rest of us do not know?

I wonder why the fact that the “laws” about these untaxed cigarettes are not in question. You send cops out to enforce laws that are not harming anyone but the cities ability to collect more taxes and then blame them when things go wrong.

If NYC needs more money go collect it from tax dodger Sharpton.

And finally, Garner should not have had to die over a silly law like the one for which he was being arrested. But who made the law? And since he had been arrested for the same “crime” many times before why did he resist arrest this time?

Larry Johnson at NQ says that what the officer used was not the infamous “choke hold”. So perhaps the fact that the man was extremely overweight and more than likely had a problem with apnea, like most extremely obese people do may have contributed to his death. We don’t know. And unless someone in the DA’s office spills the beans we probably won’t ever know.

Meanwhile those who don’t know any more than we do pontificate on television and in print and the liberals storm the streets in search of relevance. JMO.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Napolitano, and even Krauthammer did EXACTLY what we were telling people not to do – make assumptions on facts not in evidence. As Dietl said, it was the MEDIA that claimed it was a chokehold. They have lied abt SO many of these events – why in the hell would they be taken as Gospel on that? It is clear when you watch the video that the officer did NOT have his arm on Garner’s throat. But why these folks are jumping on this bandwagon, after just cautioning people that we are a nation of laws, these people see all the evidence, and it is arrogant of us to assume we know better, is beyond me.

Kirsten Powers was saying yesterday that the Grand Jury in NY is notorious, and usually indicts EVERYONE. Then Napolitano raised questions abt the Prosecutor (I think it was Napolitano). But then I heard someone later on who said the DA, who is elected, not chosen, has a stellar record and tremendous support, has just been great, something they haven’t been saying.

But when Napolitano said he had seen NONE of the evidence, but was claiming it was the wrong decision, I lost respect for him, especially as a jurist. WOW.

a good article on Scott Walker.
right now he is the man I would vote for as president.

I want Trey Gowdy as Attorney General. somebody has to straighten out that pocket of puke that holder has created

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I agree with the article in many respects although at times it is difficult for me to see it being deep in liberal country down here in the SE corner of the state.

I’ve seen, up close and all too personal, the nasty tactics the Dems play nationwide used, and abused here in Wisconsin. The Dems in this state have devolved into disgusting people and I have cut any ties to people I once thought were good and decent citizens. If you accept and even applaud the foul tactics Dems in this state have used against Governor Walker, and his supporters, then you are no longer a “good” person in my opinion. And I don’t want to know you or interact with you in any way. Once ideology overtakes integrity I lose all interest in having someone as a friend.

Thus I have fewer friends than I once did and am even not particularly well received by many of my family. I no longer care. I have many things on my conscience from the 70+ years I have spent on earth that I will have to explain to my creator someday soon. I don’t want to add hypocrisy, lies and a lack of integrity to the mix.

Having been a Dem for a long time I can now honestly say, that IMO, I was blind and now I see. And that means I see GOP miscreants too!
