Just Whose Side Are We On?? *Open Thread*

by

This has been building and building and building since Obama has taken office. It started with Obama calling Cambridge police “Stupid” back in 2009. It continued when Obama REFUSED, and continues to refuse, to call the Fort Hood attack terrorism, literally requiring an Act of Congress to provide the honorifics and compensation for those who were killed or injured in that attack.

It didn’t stop there, of course. It continued when Obama, with the alleged deserter’s parents by his side in the Rose Garden, announced that he essentially exchanged a number of very senior terrorists in order to bring home the deserter, Bowe Bergdahl (and possible ally to terrorists).

Then there was the jumping on the bandwagon of Michael Brown against the police by Obama and AG Holder, sending White House representatives to HIS funeral, but sending not ONE to the funeral of US General , Harold Greene, assassinated in Afghanistan. Not one. Obama and Holder then weighed in on the Garner case, calling for calm, but doing NOTHING to stop the inciting of anger and animosity toward ALL police officers. In fact, Obama ratcheted up that animosity by going around claiming the disparate treatment of black people at the hands of cops completely denying the fact that in both Brown and Garner’s cases, THEY RESISTED ARREST. Instead, it is ALL on the Police, and how they need to change their ways to accommodate black people (and brown, Obama had to throw in, lest his base get pissy with him).

That support of protestors hyped up on nothing more than lies, rumor, hearsay, and inciting of violence by the likes of Al Charlatan, have now led to this in our streets (h/t Facebook friend):

WOW. Just wow. If I was a NYC police officer, I would insist that NO police officers take the streets to do their jobs, and let de Blasio, Obama, Holder, et al., reap the benefit of the animosity and violence they are sowing. But those folks who are willing to defend us from criminals won’t do that. They won’t allow their city to descend into chaos despite the threats against them because they have something Obama, Holder, de Blasio, and Sharpton cannot even begin to fathom: a sense of duty, and an integrity to protect.

Just recently, of course, we had the very flawed, very biased, US Senate report regarding the actions of the CIA with terrorists held somewhere abroad. As a result, we have a US Representative declaring we should APOLOGIZE to these terrorists for being mean to them, a la Hillary Clinton’s call to “empathize” – EMPATHIZE – with them.

And then, I saw the following story this morning. I was stunned when it was revealed just who withheld critical evidence in this Army Lieutenant’s trial. First a little background: Lt. Clint Lorance was sentenced for 20 years for ordering the shooting of Afghans racing toward his platoon on a motorcycle. At the time of his trial, it was claimed these men had NO ties to terrorists, and claimed it was a wrongful death. Just look at the comments people are making about Lt. Lorance in the comments at this News Military article. The attitude toward him is one of repugnance, anger, and hostility.

Not so fast though. This young man, this highly decorated Airborne officer, appears to be yet another victim of this Administration’s “Appeasement Campaign” toward Muslim extremists. Why do I say that? Because apparently, the Army withheld evidence that the two men who were killed did INDEED have ties to terrorists. Lorance’s attorney wrote the following to the Airborne Commander, Gen. Clarke, asking for clemency for his client as a result. From Military.com:

[…] “In plain language, this is not a case where a depraved soldier intended to kill indiscriminately. This is the case of a patriotic and loyal infantry officer who zealously sought to protect his paratroopers,” wrote the lawyer, John N. Maher of Chicago, in a clemency petition dated Aug. 15. Maher is a civilian lawyer in this case, but also is a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve.

Maher’s arguments include contentions that the evidence presented at the trial doesn’t support the convictions. He says the judge gave incorrect instructions to the jury and that the lead defense lawyer at the court-martial did an inadequate job of presenting Lorance’s case.

The fatal shooting happened while Lorance was leading a foot patrol in a grape field. Berms in the field limited the Americans’ ability to see around them, Maher said.

One of the soldiers reported seeing three Afghan men heading toward them on a motorcycle. Lorance, who could not see the approaching men, ordered two soldiers to shoot.

[…]

After the shooting, soldiers searched the bodies but found no weapons, radios or cell phones, such as would often have been used by the Taliban to attack and coordinate their movements.

In an interview, Maher said that Army investigators were blocked by soldiers when they sought to visit the dead men’s village to try to learn who the dead men were and to examine the bodies.

In a follow-up letter to Clarke, dated Nov. 15, Maher said his review of the record and evidence indicates that the prosecutors failed in their legal responsibility to share all the collected evidence with the defense lawyers. The unshared evidence could have been used to undermine the credibility of witnesses who testified against Lorance, Maher said. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

In other words, the Army lawyers withheld evidence that was VITAL to the defense of Lorance from these charges. Why was it withheld? Given the track record of this Administration and Democrats, from how they treated the Fort Hood attack to releasing of terrorists from Gitmo to calling for apologies and empathy to our “enemies,” to how they are treating our police officers across the country, and more examples of all of the above than I have time to list here, just begs the question:

WHOSE SIDE ARE WE ON ANYWAY??

If you ask me, it is getting harder and harder to tell.

This is an Open Thread.

I know whose side I am on. I know whose side most of the people I know are, and that includes all who come to this site, but I’ll be damned if I know whose side our government is on. I’ve been observing and commenting and complaining about government for a very long time. But I cannot ever remember thinking that the majority of the government was corrupt and not interested in what was best for the country or her people. A government aimed only at the parasites cannot last. You “take” from the productive long enough and many will decide that being productive isn’t worth the effort.

Kurt Schlichter has an amusing “what if” column at Townhall today. Amusing and yet…

Oh, wow – what a GREAT article by Schlichter. I can so see that happening, sadly.

Right there with you, Marge. I know whose side I am on, too. I have never seen a party, an Administration, so distant from the people it has sworn to serve, so willing to turn their backs on the nation they have the privilege to represent. And to apologize – APOLOGIZE – to our enemies, to those who have attacked us, to care more for those who were harshly interrogated than those who were MURDERED by those people, speaks volumes (again – not supporting torture, but some perspective is in order to offset the partisan blindness of Senate Dems).

      So disturbing.

Thanks so much for the cartoon, too. That sure says it, doesn’t it?

I have to comment on this whole hostage attack in Australia. First, why in the HELL did the judge allow a man who had a LAUNDRY list of horrible crimes and who was charged with MURDER be out of jail??? That astonishing decision cost the lives of TWO INNOCENT PEOPLE, not to mention a number of other issues, not the least of which is the terror the hostages sustained for hours and hours, no doubt a long-lasting impact that will be difficult to overcome, to put it mildly.

And then there is the hesitancy of EVERYONE involved to call this what it was: Islamic TERRORISM. The man wanted a freaking ISIS flag, for pete’s sake! WTH did they THINK that meant? As one friend on Facebook said, next thing you know, the PM of Australia will call this “workplace violence.” Ahem.

Terrible what those people went through, and my heart goes out to them. Especially to those families who lost their loved ones as a result of this – and yes, I will say it – TERRORIST.

Great Article Amy–It seems that the outrage agains LEOs is spreading to even prison officers..This morning I read where a New York prison counselor/psychologists really verbally attacked the officers, hanging them all out to dry..(as hard as I try I can’t seem to find the article any place again.) This happened to be one of the people who was there to help officers when they needed help with stress or other issues. This will very much hurt LEOs all over; for it will be hard for them to trust their counselors when they need help.
Every Christmas I do something enhance my persona Christmas spirit by spreading some Christmas Spirit. On the way home from this year’s project I realized that it probably meant more after hearing that even prison officers are being cremated in the news.
This year I delivered cookies to the officers of the prison where I work; 5 trays of cookies so that there were enough trays for each of the 3 shifts.
I was actually thinking this might be a good time to reach out to our Law Enforcement and/or Vets even if it’s just a simple Merry Christmas and/or Thank You Card to one or more of the various Law Enforcement and/or Vet/military institutions.
Just think if each of us send out only one card, or even more to one of these many organizations…Especially Ferguson and New York.

Thanks, Kin! And thanks for sharing your story of taking cookies to the officers at the prison. I am sure they appreciate it, and I have no doubt other LEO would appreciate a little kindness at this time.

Hey, sorry I was AWOL last night. Both of our computers had gotten infected with viruses, and we were running all kinds of spyware to get rid of them. Never mind that we both have good software to protect out computers, or that I didn’t just buy one the other day because it was supposed to be better. UGH. At least now it won’t take me twice – three times as long to write posts as it has been for the past couple of weeks. Whew!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Believe me I feel your pain! No matter how many “firewalls” and other software we use to protect our computer sooner or later a click on some link and bam we are back in virus land. Then to make matter worse when I run a “scan” the damn software tells me everything is just dandy.

Sometimes I can fix on my own and sometimes not. That’s when the computer goes into the “shop”. I feel like I am cut off from the world at that point. We have another, older computer but it’s so slow I get impatient and just say to hell with it. Grrrr,

I hope there is a special place in hell for those malicious individuals that infect us with viruses for their own sick amusement.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I was thinking of you SO much while dealing with all this crap, Marge. Mine had been having problems for a few weeks, so I got a new security software which found some stuff, but the slowness, the not finding regular sites I visit (including THIS one), and stuff went on and on. Suzy’s became unusable yesterday, a MAJOR problem since she had a demo to do and had to cancel (her computer is a work-owned one, and it is CRITICAL to her work). She found a virus software that knocked it out, but yeah – what a PAIN!!!

I hope so, too. What is WRONG with people?!

    • foxyladi14 Says:

Glad you got it fixed Amy.
Them bugs are a mess. πŸ™‚

    • kinthenorthwest Says:

After finally taking my desktop to even a professional, my daughter told me kaspersky and believe it really works. It does a root scan that others do not do.
Its cheaper not to buy it from their site..you can find it at Amazon, best buy and other places for around $25 which covers 3 computers for a year.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good to know. The AVG is good for the day to day in general, but yeah, the thing we got to take care of the virus wasn’t too expensive. The time it took was the worst part, especially because of Suzy’s work. Both of our laptops are humming along now, thank heavens!

  15. kenoshamarge Says:

And another “toon” in the spirit of the season:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Oops, that was supposed to say “not” in the spirit of the season. Was that a Freudian slip?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

        LOL – still, it’s a good one!

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Once again a “toon” that says what it would take me a hundred words to say – and still not say it as well.

“Jonathan Gruber, the gift that keeps on giving” , is pretty good but I can’t take credit for that, much as I would like to. πŸ˜‰

      • kinthenorthwest Says:

Strange keno–not or n’t seem to be my biggest typos I dont know why..
