“Just Stick It,” Year In Review, New Year, And Weekend Open Thread

Many of us are glad that it is now 2015 since it means just one more year marked off on Obama’s reign. As we begin this new year, there are still some mighty good reviews of the year just passed.

One such review comes courtesy of Legal Insurrection, and that would be the Top Ten Bumper Stickers of 2014. I have the top Five below. Enjoy:

5. Pure Genius

Bumper Sticker - Portland OR - 1984 1776

4. Really Ready for Hillary

Bumper Sticker - High Springs, FL - She Lied 4 Died Close Up

3. Not falling for that one again

Bumper Sticker - Worcester MA - Bend Over

2. Hope is gone, progressives feel …

Bumper Sticker - Oakland - Betrayed

1. I EXIST, therefore I am

Bumper Sticker - Roswell NM - Exist (Click here to read the entire list.)

Aren’t those good? The other five are also good, and there is a Bonus one at the Legal Insurrection post as well.

But it is a new year, and with that comes some changes in laws about which we are hearing: minimum wage up in 21 states; ID for Illegals in California (where else?); And Government Hand in Our Pockets (aka, Obamacare or the misnamed Affordable Care Act), to name a few. As this Hill article points out, there are still many issues brewing with Obamacare. No freakin’ kidding. Has it ever NOT had major issues?

This is merely the tip of the iceberg for this New Year since this is also when potential presidential candidates start ratcheting up, too. Awesome. Yes, we are hearing ALL about Gov. Jeb Bush and SoS Hillary Clinton, among numerous other potential candidates. Fantastic. We just got done with one election, and now we are already being thrown into the next one – almost two years away. Sigh.

And, there is the sad news for many of the passing of former NY Governor, Mario Cuomo. Cuomo was apparently liked by members of both parties. Sad news, especially for his son, who had a bittersweet day yesterday. He was sworn in for his second term and lost his dad within a couple of hours. How very sad for the Cuomo family. My heart goes out to them, and to those who knew him well.

As always, there is more going on, but I will leave it to you to bring up what you wish. Oh, and since this is the Weekend Open Thread, I would be remiss in not mentioned a whole bunch of good football games this weekend. Well, many of them will be good, but I have to say, even though I am from Charlotte, I have real issues with a team making the playoffs when they have a LOSING RECORD (Carolina Panthers). But that’s just me…

I leave you then with this version of, “A New Year’s Carol”:

Lovely. Okay, your turn!

That is good news indeed! So thankful for these people like Attkisson and groups like Judicial Watch for their oversight. I wish we had many more like them…

TGIF and the Sun is shining. 😀

    • kenoshamarge Says:

The sun is playing peek-a-boo here but I’ll take what I can get.

For me its TG the Holidays are done. I love the lights and the music until I don’t. Then it seems like it’s gone on forever.

And old crabass that I am I think standing in the cold to watch a ball fall in Times Square is, well I best not say what I think it is, just not something I would ever do.

Add standing with Bob Beckel and it becomes disgusting and that big smooch by Guilfoyle is something I can’t even find an adjective repulsive enough to use. Ugh!!!!!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL abt the holidays. And abt watching the ball drop in Times Square. Even though I lived in NYC for a number of years, that was the LAST place I wanted to be on New Year’s Eve. Are you kidding me?! Yeah, no…

OHMYGOSH – wasn’t that awful?! I don’t know if there are enough vaccinations in the world Kimberly could get…

  6. HELENK3 Says:

backtrack issues executive order increasing sanctions on North Korea. using the sony hack as one excuse.

better hope it was not a sony insider that did the attack

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Wait, I thought they had already figured out that it wasn’t North Korea who hacked Sony, and may have been an inside job. Did I miss something to make Obama think for sure it was North Korea, or was he just getting bored out on the Links and wanted to use his pen?

  7. HELENK3 Says:

US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on North Korea sanctions: ‘The actions taken today under the authority of the President’s new Executive Order will further isolate key North Korean entities and disrupt the activities of close to a dozen critical North Korean operatives. We will continue to use this broad and powerful tool to expose the activities of North Korean government officials and entities’ – statement

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Sanctions? North Korea has NO economy to speak of, the vast majority of citizens are on the brink of starvation at any given moment. The scum that cause all the trouble will never feel the pain of the sanctions. Does Kim Jung Un look like he’s been missing any meals lately? I’m not sure that I think “sanctions” are a good thing. The people who suffer the most had nothing to do with causing the problems. I know the idea is that the citizens will have finally have had enough and will thrown the scum out and all will be well. Where has that ever worked?

    • GinaR Says:

I think we need to quit bashing N. Korea. I mean, Kim Jong-Un is just a poor misunderstood dictator who really wants to start a new year off the right way! SMDH

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh. MY. GOSH. Are you kidding me with this?? I never liked Richardson, even when I was a dyed-in-the-wool Dem, but I dislike him INTENSELY now.

WTH is wrong with these people??? Hillary, Richardson, Obama, all these people wanting to make nice, and who treat our enemies far better than many of our fellow citizens.

There is something seriously wrong with this…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Does Bill Richardson never get tired to sounding like an ass? And why does anyone pay any attention to him other than the fact that he often spouts the liberal drivel. Never mind I answered my own question. Duh.

  8. HELENK3 Says:

    interesting statement today
34% of employees today are contract workers not permanent employees. Highest number ever
businesses do not pay benefits to contract workers,

  9. kenoshamarge Says:

Where Lou works they are replacing all the permanent workers who leave or retire or whatever with temps. There are now more temps than company/union employees. And the union doesn’t like it. Funny now all the money the unions in forced unionization states like Wisconsin were all for the Dems and ObamaCare – even spending millions to re-elect the big Zero. Now they are whining. Is this what you call unintended consequences? Or just too stupid to figure out what would happen? Either way the American worker will get screwed.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Wow, Marge – that is truly disconcerting, though I think ALL of us here KNEW this was going to happen. We knew there was NO WAY employers were not going to pay for this monstrosity of a law. We knew they would lay people off, cut their work force, or cut the hours of the employees. Hiring temps or contract workers over permanent employees is PRECISELY what we thought they would do rather than be saddled with the insanely high costs of Obamacare. (Gruber acknowledged that, too – how expensive this program was going to be. Hell, it is simple arithmetic – you cannot add more people to a program and expect it to cost LESS. Not only is it costing more, but people are getting less for more. Here’s the link: http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Jonathan-Gruber-Obamacare-healthcare/2014/12/30/id/615642/)

And you are spot on – regardless of the intent, the outcome is the same.

what really happened to Harry Reid

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Now THAT makes more sense (that it was ValJar)! 🙂

    • GinaR Says:

I think he was drunk…again…look at all the accidents he’s had in the past few years. Tripping? Falling? Exercising? Yeah…right…hey, there goes a pig flying by my window!!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFL – well, that would sure explain things, wouldn’t it? Too funny abt the pig. Hmm – maybe that explains the whole unicorn thing… 😉

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I wondered about the drinking thing too since he fell back in 2011 while jogging and bumped his head and dislocated his shoulder. Maybe trying to keep “fit” isn’t healthy for Harry.

And right now I cannot get the image of Harry Reid falling off a flying pig while a unicorn watches. Is this another of those senior moments or just reality in liberal land.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFLMAO – now THAT is an image! Teehee!!

And hey, considering all the crap these folks make up, I can sure see them selling that as the explanation. The MSM will gladly spread it as truth and attack anyone who dare question what happened to Poor Harry Reid as heartless, cold-hearted, unicorn-deniers…

  13. kenoshamarge Says:

Interesting post by Keith Koffler IMO.

The Obamas Dine with the .01 Percent

President Obama vowed to make reducing income inequality the focus of the final years of his presidency. But first, dinner.

None of us expect the President and First Lady to dine out at Burger King.

However we can, and should, expect them to do a little of the “walking the walk” if he is gonna “talk the talk”. Hypocrisy, his own that is, doesn’t seem to bother this man at all.

That’s the way narcissists roll donchaknow. Rules and honesty, as well as integrity and character, are for others. Something both the Obamas seem to live by every day. And incidentally, live very well.

    Great, IMO, Jonah Goldberg piece.

Truth is, There’s No One Behind the WheelThere’s an old joke in the newspaper business, now immortal on the Internet:

“The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don’t really understand the New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie chart format. … The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country, and they did a far superior job of it, thank you very much. …”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is a great piece, as always. Goldberg has such a way with words that even when the topic is disconcerting, it is enjoyable to read how he frames it.

John Ogle There’s no “hero” in politics ..
A HERO is someone who puts their life on the line to help another .

    1st they’re green
    Then they’re yellow
    Then they’re rotten

    this sounds good to me

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It would be a totally different House under Gowdy’s leadership, beginning with having LEADERSHIP!!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Problem is there just isn’t enough “Trey” to go around. Speaker takes a “politicker” and I don’t think that’s where Gowdy shines the brightest. In fact I suspect that although he is certainly smart enough to play politics he doesn’t like to do it.

For myself, I would love to see Trey Gowdy as Attorney General. It would take a man/woman of Trey’s integrity and legal ability to clean up the mess that has been made over at the “Justice Department”. I suspect not all members of the GOP would like the things he would do either since I believe he would be all about the “law” not the “party”.

I think Jim Jordan would make an awesome Speaker.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely, Gowdy would be a STELLAR AG. I think he is precisely the kind of person we must have to clean up the disaster the DOJ has become courtesy of Holder. No doubt.

Oh, I could get behind a Jim Jordan speakership. He is intelligent, direct, and sticks to his guns. Yep – I could support that.

  23. kenoshamarge Says:

According to Amy Miller at Legal Insurrection:

Important Keystone XL Vote Happening Thursday

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I heard that the chances are good that it will pass, too, since there are enough Dems who have supported it all along. I reckon we’ll see what happens.

Oh, wait – I know – what the cartoon below depicts! 🙂

  24. kenoshamarge Says:

And never fear, Obama intends to reach across the table to the new congress…

  26. foxyladi14 Says:

    I loove this Judge 🙂

  27. foxyladi14 Says:

    WE can always hope. 🙂

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Amen to that, Foxy – we can hope and pray he does the right thing this time around…

    • piper Says:

“but now the IRS will have access to the health records of every American, something that has been overlooked so far in the healthcare debate.”

wonder how the bots and dems will feel about this jewel.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That’s what we have been trying to tell them all along. That the IRS is going to have extraordinary powers over our HEALTH CARE. That is just absurd, and obscene! Bad enough that they are hiring thousands of agents to act as ENFORCERS, but they will see our health care records.

Then there’s the whole “Death Panel” thing abt which Palin was right (hence why they attacked her so vociferously)…

  28. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Marge, just want you to know that we were rooting for the Cowboys today in a big way. We did NOT want the Lions to go on considering their dirty play. Now, Rodgers and the Packers don’t have to worry abt Suh stomping on him/them during the game. (Still do not understand how he has not been suspended or kicked out considering his behavior over the years. What a piece of work he is.)

    You’re welcome! 😀 Ahahahaha…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Just hope that Rogers calf heals soon. Winning their division and having a “bye” was really important to them and shows how it can make a big difference.

We do love our Packers here in Wisconsin but if they do manage to go to the Super Bowl again, things tend to go a little “Packer” crazy here. And s/ much to our surprise people who never seemed to care anything about football are suddenly sporting Packer jerseys. Isn’t it amazing what winning does? Some people are so phony it makes me sick.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I should have explained better. Playoffs bring about a small phony frenzy. Super Bowl brings on a super-sized phony frenzy.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, I know exactly what you mean abt the bandwagoners. Hey, if you support a team, you gotta do it through thick and then.

I hope Rogers’ calf heals, too. What Suh did was appalling. But even in yesterday’s game, they were going on and on abt what they thought should have been pass interference on the Cowboys while ignoring the fact that the receiver was pulling on the facemask of the defender!! AND, the ball hit the defender in the back, so whose fault was THAT?? It was just ridiculous. Not one announcer, including Brian Kilmeade this morning, noted the facemask by the Lions’ receiver. WTH??

Anyway – I can only imagine how crazy it will be in Wisconsin should the Packers go on. But for you TRUE fans, I hope they do! 🙂
