Barack Vs. Bibi On Iran And More *Open Thread*

The difference between these two leaders could not be more stark, in my opinion. For instance, as Obama wrapped up the “anti-terrorism summit,” which really seemed to be a “Muslim Self Esteem” conference, his parting comments to the citizens he leads were, what’s the word, hmmm, oh, I know: offensive. I can add to that: condescending, patronizing, condescending, and unbelievably misguided.

But don’t take my word for it. Read it for yourselves from the Daily Caller:

[…] Peaceful criticism of Islamic culture is bad, he suggested. ”When people spew hatred toward others — because of their faith or because they’re immigrants — it feeds into terrorist narratives. … It feeds a cycle of fear and resentment and a sense of injustice upon which extremists prey,” he said.

So “we have to ensure that our diverse societies truly welcome and respect people of all faiths and backgrounds,” said Obama.

He insisted the conflict between Muslim and Western cultures is not caused by fundamentally different attitudes about freedom and religious solidarity. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

In other words, it’s all OUR fault that these jihadists exist and wish to do us harm. Because even “peaceful criticism” is too much for Muslims to bear, so we must not say ANYTHING lest we upset them and bring their revenge down on our heads.

WOW. Are people actually BUYING this?? Never mind that our President is painting us as a bunch of xenophobes who treat people like crap simply because of their faiths and are a bunch of intolerant yahoos, but we should not even dare to criticize ANYTHING about Islam. Never mind that this is an ASTONISHING call for censorship and a violation of our First Amendment rights, but the mindset behind it is even more telling. Never mind that religions like, oh, I dunno, say, Christianity, are routinely criticized without any fear of deadly retribution.

As for the “fundamentally different attitudes” as not being a cause for conflicts, again, I would refer President Obama to Grame Wood’s excellent piece in The Atlantic. Perhaps Obama would actually learn something and at the very least, stop attacking US and stop depicting Muslims as victims of our collective bullying. It is beyond offensive.

And then there is this Administration’s insistence upon negotiating with Terror-sponsor, Iran. This just defies logic, even with Valarie Jarrett’s personal connections to Iran. But what is worse is that this President has dug in his heels in opposition to Israel and her Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The most recent bit of petulance from Obama is the REFUSAL to share updates with Israel on what the USA is caving in on, um, capitulating on, negotiating on with Iran. From the Jerusalem Post:

[…] Channel 2 reported that the White House is incensed over the Israeli government’s conduct in recent weeks regarding the Iranian issue, believing that Jerusalem has taken a sensitive issue with implications for national security and used it for political gain. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

The sheer juvenile response of this Administration to the one and ONLY Democratic ally we have in the Middle East is astonishing anyway, but even more when we are talking about a VERY dangerous regime for both nations.

Prime Minister Netanyahu recently addressed these very issues in an address to the Conference of Major Jewish Organizations, as United With Israel noted with the complete text of Netanyahu’s speech. Here is part of that speech:

[…]Tonight I want to address some important questions that have undoubtedly been on your minds. First, why am I going to Washington? I’m going to Washington because as Prime Minister of Israel, it’s my obligation to do everything in my power to prevent the conclusion of a bad deal that could threaten the survival of the State of Israel. The current proposal to Iran would endanger Israel. It would enable Iran to breakout to its first nuclear device within an unacceptably short time. And it would allow Iran to build an industrial capability to enrich uranium that could provide the fuel for many bombs in the coming years.

A regime that openly calls for Israel’s destruction would thus have finally the means to realize its genocidal aims. Now mind you, I’m not opposed to any deal with Iran. I’m opposed to a bad deal with Iran. And I believe this is a very bad deal. I’m certainly not opposed to negotiations. On the contrary – no country has a greater interest, a greater stake, in the peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear question than does Israel.

But the current proposal will not solve the problem. It will perpetuate and aggravate the problem. It would provide a path for Iran to become a nuclear power. And therefore it’s very important that I speak about this in Washington.

Second question: Why am I going to Congress? Because Israel has been offered the opportunity to make its case on this crucial issue before the world’s most important parliament; because a speech before Congress allows Israel to present its position to the elected representatives of the American people and to a worldwide audience; because Congress has played a critical role in applying pressure to the Iranian regime – the very pressure that has brought the ayatollahs to the negotiating table in the first place; and because Congress may very well have a say on the parameters of any final deal with Iran. That’s why I’m going to Congress.

I think the real question that should be asked is how could any responsible Israeli prime minister refuse to speak to Congress on a matter so important to Israel’s survival? How could anyone refuse an invitation to speak on a matter that could affect our very existence when such an invitation is offered? […]

That is the crux of the mater right there: what kind of leader would NOT stand up and fight for his (or her) country on this level against a nation like Iran? Well, besides ours, that is. Fortunately for Israel, they have Netanyahu. And his speech continues:

[…] I don’t see this issue in partisan terms. The survival of Israel is not a partisan issue. It concerns everyone, all the supporters of Israel from every political stripe. The fight against militant Islamic terrorism is not a partisan issue. The battle against the Islamic State, which just beheaded 21 Christians, is not a partisan issue. And the effort to prevent the Islamic Republic from building nuclear weapons, that’s not a partisan issue either.

I think the pursuit of nuclear weapons by Iran is the most urgent security challenge facing the world. I think the greatest danger facing humanity is the possibility that any movement or any regime of militant Islam will arm itself with the weapons of mass destruction. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

There is more to his speech, and I urge you to read the rest, but you get the idea. And I think you get the distinction between these two leaders. Well, one is a Leader, the other one is an Apologist. Do I really need to say which one is which? Yeah. I didn’t think so.

Okay, your turn. This is an Open Thread.

Yes Yes Amy. I cannot believe what has been coming out Obama’s, Gutierrez, and several other Democrats Mouths.
These are not the words of people who supposedly represent America; much less took and oath to protect America and it’s constitution.
Giuliani is spot on about Obama; Obama doesn’t give a crap about Western Civilization or America.
To me, what Obama and other Obama cronies have been saying lately has stepped over the line of Treason against our Country and our Country’s Constitution and Ideals.

It truly is astonishing. Like I said, I don’t know how in the world an anti-terrorism summit ended up being lectures on how we need to treat Muslims so we don’t inflame them, or plan on how to give them jobs, etc., etc. What a waste of time and money of ours. And what an insult when the President basically blames US for everything bad these barbarians are doing and completely taking them off the hook. It is obscene.

It is still hard for me to believe what a diehard Leftie Dem I was for DECADES to see where this party is now. I don’t even recognize it anymore, and I am glad to be an Independent now, that’s for sure. WOW.

Thinking back to 2008 and how we all we such Die-Heart Hillary Nuts(Yes I say Nuts now). I don’t think America would be as screwed but do realize America would still be screwed if Hillary had won
Heaven forbid if she wins in 2016

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yeah, I don’t think Hillary would have been anywhere NEAR as bad as Barack has been. He has just been disastrous for this country on SO many levels. But no doubt, we cannot afford for her to win in 2016…

did you know that now the homeland security chief’s job is to give voice to the plight of muslims?

I had the silly idea that it was to protect America and try to protect all of us from another terror attack

    • kinthenorthwest Says:

      Damn Helenk===Stealing/Sharing Wow… 😮

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Isn’t that just ASTONISHING?? I could not BELIEVE when I heard him say that. The number of Muslims in the USA is small, and yeah, his JOB is HOMELAND SECURITY, not PR Spokesman for Muslims around the world.

This is just astonishing. The capitulation and appeasement to Muslims continues under this Administration in a big way…

Damn just had to share this with you all…Here is just a small snippet. Could not believe what I read… 😮
DHS intelligence report warns of domestic right-wing terror threat

Washington (CNN)—They’re carrying out sporadic terror attacks on police, have threatened attacks on government buildings and reject government authority.

A new intelligence assessment, circulated by the Department of Homeland Security this month and reviewed by CNN, focuses on the domestic terror threat from right-wing sovereign citizen extremists and comes as the Obama administration holds a White House conference to focus efforts to fight violent extremism.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Because they can cite THEM but not Islamist extremists…

Interesting that they claim that these people think they are above the law, because that is PRECISELY what we have seen from this President on down, and it is behavior that has been encouraged in Ferguson, NY, DC, a number of cities in CA, whether through OWS or the ginned-up race baiting of Sharpton, et. al. I am gonna bet they didn’t include any of THAT in their report…

I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist or anything, but what do you want to bet they will use this as a way to mandate certain behaviors in order to qualify for, keep, or BE REJECTED FOR, Obamacare?

I would not put it past them considering the other elements, like the “death panels” that turned out to be real. Another example would be that people think pre-existing conditions no longer matter, but they do in many instances.

I don’t even eat beef (though Suzy does), and this makes me mad…

OH – and the whole “plant based diet” is the new buzz word for VEGETARIAN. Just say vegetarian, for pete’s sake! Sheesh.
