Some Advice From The DHS Secretary; And Losing “The Ability To Think” *Open Thread*

by

Post “Anti-Terrorism” Summit, DHS Secretary, Jeh Johnson, has been continuing his Muslim apology tour on a bunch of the Sunday talk shows.

Oh, wait – you might not know what I mean by that. This is what Sec. Johnson had to say was his and the Administration’s job at the Summit:

We in the administration and the government should give voice to the plight of Muslims living in this country and the discrimination that they face. And so I personally have committed to speak out about the situation that very often people in the Muslim community in this country face. The fact that there are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and the Islamic faith is one about peace and brotherhood.

Huh – and here I thought it was to PROTECT THE HOMELAND and ALL of her citizens, not to give voice to one very small minority in this country above all else. Silly me! Clearly, I do not have a grasp on the Obama Administration definitions of words.

Well, Sec. Johnson has continued in his and Obama’s misguided, unfortunate, INCORRECT definition of just who these terrorists are. From Fox News:

[…] Obama on the same day defended his choice of words by saying the term “radical Islam” gives such groups religious legitimacy they don’t deserve.

“I want to be very clear about how I see it: Al Qaeda and ISIL and groups like it are desperate for legitimacy. They try to portray themselves as religious leaders, holy warriors in defense of Islam,” he said. “We must never accept the premise they put forward.”

Johnson, who appeared on all of the major Sunday talk shows, also made a similar argument.

“To refer to ISIL as occupying any part of the Islamic theology is playing on a battlefield that they would like us to be on,” he said. “I think that to call them some form of Islam gives the group more dignity than it deserves frankly. It is a terrorist organization.” […]

That is to say, pay no attention to what these self-identified Islamic terrorist groups say, or do, because despite their vehement claims to the contrary, despite the number of imams backing their terrorist activities, according to theologians Obama and Johnson, that is not true. Yeah. Okay. Because that is not just wrong and disingenuous, it does not SERVE us to refuse to identify these groups for who and what they are, as Rep. Gabbard made clear:

[…] “If we don’t identify our enemies, we cannot defeat them,” Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, told Fox News on Wednesday. “Unless you accurately identify who your enemy is, then you can’t come up with an effective strategy, a winning strategy to defeat that enemy.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

No kidding. No freakin’ kidding.

And this mindset is dangerous for us when we have this as the advice from the Secretary of Homeland Secretary in light of a credible threat against Americans:

Yeah, y’all be careful out there, m’kay? Because you can’t count on US to be careful FOR you since we absolutely REFUSE to even acknowledge the origins of these terrorists and what makes them tick.

Ugh.

It is precisely this mindset that former National Security expert, Stephen Coughlin, addressed with Ginni Thomas from Daily Caller this weekend. It is an extensive interview, and I urge you to watch the entire thing if you have time. Here are some of the points Coughlin made:

[…] Coughlin is an attorney, decorated intelligence officer and expert on Islamic law and terrorism. He says the “entire world, friend and foe alike, understands, that starting with the Bush administration and accelerating in the Obama administration, that our foreign policy community is absolutely incoherent and completely vulnerable. These people have lost the ability to think.”

He contends that government bureaucrats have become so focused on fighting “narratives” consistent with a post-modern, politically correct worldview, rather than the facts on the ground, that America’s war on terrorism has become a catastrophic failure.

Rather than be tethered to the professional canon requiring a “duty to be competent” and know the enemy, or their oath to support and defend the nation from enemies foreign and domestic, Coughlin argues the military has been persuaded, cajoled and perverted into fighting based on narratives.

“This country is in serious trouble,” he believes. “The people who hate us — and it’s not just radical Islam, it’s the Chinese, it’s the Russians, it’s the Iranians — they know that our leaders don’t know what they’re doing, because they’ve been kicking the tires.” […]

That is hitting the nail SQUARELY on the head: these bureaucrats are FAR more focused on the NARRATIVE, and not hurting the feelings of certain groups, than they are the actual SECURITY of the Nation. Coughlin continued:

[…] His greatest fear is that “we may be put to sleep, like the frog that boils to death, mired in the pollution of our own politically correct narratives that has created a complete inability for us to understand and further the truth, so much so, that we have to treat the truth as propaganda just to be heard.”

Discussing the 2009 Fort Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Hasan, Coughlin says this is a clear example that when you commit to a narrative, you can suppress the truth and undermine our national security. He says Hasan told us “at the Walter Reed and the Pentagon, over 20 times” to military officers that, “I am a Muslim. If you send me to war, I will become a jihadi.” […]

Coughlin continues, and what he says about the machinations of Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State are chilling, absolutely chilling:

[…] Coughlin describes the efforts by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to work with the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an international organization with 57 Member States (56 countries and the Palestinian Territories) concerning their 10 Year Programme of Action to make defaming Islam a punishable crime. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Just imagine what she can do if she becomes President…

Our National Security officials are letting us down in a big, big way, and all to focus more on the NARRATIVE than the reality. This must stop, and they must be held accountable. At this point, I think the Administration is shooting themselves in the foot with the continued insistence to not name radical Islam is the justification for terrorism, but sadly, too many of their followers will continue to swallow whatever they feed them. THis nation cannot afford that, and it deserves better from our leaders.

At least that’s what I think. How about you? This is an Open Thread.

Hey, if someone tries to harm you, just be extra tolerant! You wouldn’t want to make anybody feel bad about themselves would you? If you are about to be mugged, raped, or blown up, it is absolutely critical that you first address the feelings and needs of the one planing to harm you. They must feel good about themselves, their race, their religion, their gender, their socio-economic status, their job training skills, their childhood, their political persuasion.

Also lost in all this blather is the fact that anti muslim sentiment and hate crimes have not increased in this country. Believe it or not, Jewish people still take that title, most likely to be a victim of a hate crime. Native Americans still get the award for most likely to be poor. Black still take the title of most likely to be a victim of homicide. So when our leaders spew nonsense like this, “We in the administration and the government should give voice to the plight of Muslims living in this country and the discrimination that they face.” they are attempting to identify and solve a problem that doesn’t even exist. That’s absolutely maddening.

Exactly, insanity – that is precisely the mindset they are engendering. It is a dangerous, dangerous narrative, no doubt abt it.

Yes, I have written before, and just recently too, abt the FBI statistics that Jews are the target of religious hate crimes FAR more than anyone else in this country. Muslims come at LESS than 13% – Jews are WAY higher than that at over 63% (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2011/narratives/victims). That this Administration keeps acting like Muslims are being targeted by intolerant Americans left and right is the big lie of which Obama spoke, not the one HE claimed it was, though…

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I want to add that the numbers for these two populations are roughly equivalent with Muslims possibly having a million or more members than Jews. That Jews are the targets of hate crimes 4x+ more than Jews really puts to a lie these claims and implications made by this Administration.

Rep. McSally was on Megyn Kelly and had a lot to say abt how this Administration is handling these threats. Kelly nailed it — McSally IS a “badass”:

backtrack and his bunch have a dream of undermining this country. focusing on the implied insult to muslims instead of the protection of the country is just one example of them carrying out their dream

in this country now, if a muslim stabs a non-muslim for not being a muslim it is NOT a hate crime. good to know

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Can you believe that? I was stunned when I saw that article. It is just getting to be ridiculous the appeasement campaign going on now.

Well, THAT’S sure just abt right, isn’t it?? And when you learn how much money we are pumping into these businesses, and how very little we get on that investment, it’s enough to make you want to scream. As Eric Bolling says, let the free market decide on these things and move them along to become affordable instead of us subsidizing them all the time.
