Blame, Shame, And Should Be Ashamed *St. Patrick’s Day Open Thread*

This sure does feel more like Ground Hog’s Day than St. Patrick’s Day. Why? Because you might think I was trying to slip a fast one by you by re-posting a piece I did six months ago, “Eating Crow…” In that post, I highlighted a speech President Bush made back in 2007 in which he warned quite clearly about the dangers of leaving Iraq too early.

You may recall what it was President Bush said:

You can’t get much clearer than that, can you? I don’t think so, but it sure didn’t stop President Obama from making this astonishing claim on Monday:

Yep. It is ALL Bush’s fault, according to Obama. That is why ISIS was allowed to rise to such heights so quickly. It is all Bush’s fault. Never mind that OBAMA is the one who has been President for the past SEVEN YEARS. And never mind that HE was the one asleep at the switch – no, wait – worse than that, refusing to do anything about them as he claimed they were the “Jayvee team.” Shame on him for continuing to act as if he is a hapless bystander in the rise of this militant Islamist terrorist group. It is shameful on a number of levels.

What else is shameful about this Administration is this little newsflash abou tjust how transparent this Administration is. Get this headline from BizPacReview: White House office exempts itself from FOIA regs – announces on National Freedom of Information Day! There really is little more to say about that, or little more I can say since I am shaking my head so much in sheer disgust at this Administration. But you know I won’t leave you hanging. Here is more from BizPacReview:

The self-proclaimed most transparent administration ever has taken another step to make itself less transparent.

USA Today reported Monday that the White House is removing regulations that subject its Office of Administration to Freedom of Information Act requests.

The announcement came on National Freedom of Information Day, the day after the beginning of “Sunshine Week,” a seven-day period that celebrates open government and freedom of information.

The White House claims the move is consistent with court decisions proclaiming the office is not required to obey the transparency law. Critics aren’t buying it.

“The irony of this being Sunshine Week is not lost on me,” Anne Weismann from the liberal group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said Monday.

“It is completely out of step with the president’s supposed commitment to transparency,” she added. “That is a critical office, especially if you want to know, for example, how the White House is dealing with email.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Yeah, the “irony” isn’t lost on me, either, that the Administration that has continued to tout that faulty claim would make such a move on National Freedom of Information Day or during Sunshine Week. That is about par for the course, as far as I can tell.

And if I can be a bit cynical, I have to wonder if this latest move might be because – SURPRISE! – the Administration now has all of Lois Lerner’s emails. From the Daily Caller:

[…] The Daily Caller has confirmed that the Treasury inspector general’s office has received the special software and is in the process of using it to match the emails.

Camus is now perfectly capable of matching those emails and handing them over to Congress in a timely fashion. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

My bet is they are going to try and find a way to deny these requests and claim some sort of privilege or sheer refusal to fulfill the requests. But that’s just me.

But there is more shame to be had by this Administration than its lack of transparency regarding information in this country. As the Daily Caller reported some time ago, it seems this Administration, despite claims to the contrary, appears to be working against the re-election of a staunch ally of the United States in the Middle East. That would be Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing a stiff challenge today in Israel. As the Daily Caller reported, a top aide of Obama’s was working with a group in Israel to this end. That article was from January, but as of just a few days ago, it seems that group is still hard at work to bring down our staunch ally according to NewsMax:

If rumors that the Obama administration has helped efforts in Israel to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are real, the U.S. has crossed “a red line,” says Danny Ayalon, former Israeli ambassador to the U.S.

Jeremy Bird, a top operative in President Obama’s 2008 and ’12 campaigns, has been mobilizing a get-out-the-vote effort for Netanyahu opponent Isaac “Bougie” Herzog, leading to speculation that the White House is linked to it.

“If this is true, this is really crossing a red line because a democracy does not interfere with other democracies’ democratic process,” Ayalon said Monday on “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

No kidding it crosses a line. It just amazes me the lines Obama is willing to cross, like one which involves a staunch ally of our nation, and the ones he refuses to cross, or even acknowledge exist (like acts committed by Islamist terrorists, for instance). Just astounding. He should be ashamed. If he is capable of feeling shame, that is.

But wait, it gets worse. It seems that Obama may have been messing around in Israel’s election via the State Department and funding. As a result, the US Senate has a BI-PARTISAN committee looking into it. From the Jerusalem Post:

A US Senate investigatory committee has launched a probe into an American nonprofit’s funding of efforts to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the State Department of US President Barack Obama gave the nonprofit taxpayer-funded grants, Fox News reported on Saturday.

According to the news outlet, a source with knowledge of the panel’s activities told it that the probe was underway and was bipartisan in nature.

According to the source, the probe is looking into “funding” by the OneVoice Movement – a Washington-based group that has received $350,000 in recent State Department grants, Fox News reported. […](Click here to read the rest.)

Uh, yeah – there is no way to spin that as anything other than what it appears to be if true: interference in the free and fair elections of an ALLY.

Oh, and if you want to know how the election is going in Israel, Legal Insurrection is doing regular updates.

As much as this feels like Ground Hog Day, it is, in fact, St. Patrick’s Day, a day celebrated by those of us who have Irish blood, and those who have it for a day. In acknowledgement of this day, you know what is coming next – a video from the group I love so much, Celtic Woman:

Oh, I do so love Irish music, don’t you?

Okay, one more from Clannad, whom I also love:

And with that, I wish you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and Éirinn go Brach!

Someone needs to tell Obama and the damn Dems that the statute of limitations ran out on blaming Bush some time ago. I was not a Bush fan but this is beyond ridiculous. Time has proven Bush right in ways I would not have believed. Time will prove Obama wrong in ways that are obvious.

I know – it is hard to believe, isn’t it? But yes, I have to admit, Bush was right and I was wr..Um, Wrroo…Ah dangit – WRONG – I was wrong!!! Sheesh.

You are so right – the statute of blaming the previous president is long gone now. Obama owns EVERY BIT of blame for what is going on with ISIS and their being able to rise to such great heights so quickly. His refusal to address this serious issue in a timely fashion is what allowed them to skyrocket, not what Bush did.

I think the dems might be finally getting it. backtrack doesn’t give a damn about them either. a little slow on the uptake but may they are waking up

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it, they are a bit slow, but I guess better late than never, huh? Now are they going to take back all of the awful things they said abt Reps when they complained abt Obama’s tactics? Yeah, I didn’t think so either.

      Thanks for this!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Exactly. It is ridiculous that, once again, they are trying to blame Reps for this when it is because of THEM it has not been passed. Seems the Dems have a reading problem – either they don’t know how, or they can’t be bothered, since this bill was around for 2 months for them to review. Jackalopes.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank heavens. I had heard on Special Report that Bibi was claiming the win. I would have been pretty mad had he lost thanks to taxpayer money funneled through the State Department toward that end…

      Good news!

    Netanyahu statement

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is a major victory indeed – thank heavens Netanyahu and his party persevered.

  19. mcnorman Says:

Can’t they come up with something more original than to blame Bush? They must think that the public has a nanosecond of memory.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It seems not. Unfortunately, it seems to work still with his minions. Just astonishing.

  20. kenoshamarge Says:

Thomas Sowell is at his common sense writing again. I learned something and do every time I read something he’s written.

Those on the left unfortunately never will learn. That is their great loss and great vulnerability. When you are so very sure that you are always “right” it becomes difficult, or impossible to see the unintended consequences of your actions.

If their arrogance harmed only the “brilliant” liberal thinkers that would be fine. Let them wallow in their own self-congratulatory hogwash. When it harms others, and harms them for years its time, way past time, to rein in their delusional poppycock!

    Ruinous “Compassion”

It is fascinating to see brilliant people belatedly discover the obvious — and to see an even larger number of brilliant people never discover the obvious.

A recent story in a San Francisco newspaper says that some restaurants and grocery stores in Oakland’s Chinatown have closed after the city’s minimum wage was raised. Other small businesses there are not sure they are going to survive, since many depend on a thin profit margin and a high volume of sales.

It’s Official: Netanyahu ‘Soundly Defeats’ The Israeli Left

I guess that means that “Bibi” soundly defeated Obama too!

  22. kenoshamarge Says:

    Is this perfect or what?

  23. kenoshamarge Says:

Then there’s this from Michael Goodwin…

There’s more than a little irony in the prospect that Arab turnout could tilt Israel’s election. Arabs in the democratic nation enjoy a right to vote they wouldn’t have if they lived in the Palestinian territories. Hamas rules Gaza with the gun, while in the West Bank, Mahmoud Abbas is in the 10th year of a four-year term that officially ended in 2009.

Or is that the Jews’ fault, too?

If it isn’t the Jew’s fault, maybe its George W. Bush’s fault. After all the left seems to have no Statute of Limitations on that.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it, Marge, and thanks for the quote from Goodwin. I just saw on Fox and Friends the reaction from National Barack Station and Central Barack Station – they were dour and pessimistic since Bibi won.. WTH???

  25. HELENK3 Says:

Iran and Hezbollah suddenly MIA from US terror list
    funny how that happened

  26. HELENK3 Says:

this is something we had better pay attention to. there is enough blame to go around, parents, kids, teachers, school boards, government all play a part in this. we are cheating our kids and the future of this country

  27. HELENK3 Says:

does Netanyahu need to call backtrack first?

I really do not know how I feel about this article. guess that is why I could never be a politician.
giving backtrack more credit than he is worth would turn my stomach. But for the good of my country I guess I would do what is necessary than take pepto bismo

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Why in the HELL would Bibi give a nod to Obama who did EVERYTHING in his power to knock Bibi out? Just on the face of it, this is an absurd claim, IMHO…
