Liberal Use Of The Race Card And The Consequences *Open Thread*

Oh, great – more outrage over a police action involving a young black man, this time a UVA student who was bloodied during his arrest.

What’s that? What did he do? Well, he was not just walking down the street before being taken down, if that is what you are wondering. Nope – he tried to use a fake ID to get into a bar, and then resisted arrest. He ended up having a bloody face after twisting his head back and forth while being held down as he was being cuffed. So naturally, now the GOVERNOR of Virginia is demanding this case be investigated.

Good grief. Are we going to have to go through this EVERY time a black kid does something he shouldn’t be doing, resists arrest, and suffers consequences for it?? Really?? The GOVERNOR is demanding an investigation? This kid was breaking the LAW, DRUNK, and was charged with breaking a couple of laws. But I guess since he was black and ended up with an injury, it doesn’t matter that he was committing crimes.

Now, I do not condone excessive police force in any way, shape, or form, and if there WAS some used, well, that needs to be handled. But why in the hell do these events become NATIONAL events, with the Governors demanding investigation, and with huge rallies in support of someone who was BREAKING THE LAW??? It is all based on race, and that does all of us a disservice.

But this mindset comes from the top, including an action by US Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois who did his level best to paint Republicans as racists for the time they have scheduled the vote on Loretta Lynch for AG. From Hot Air:

Who’s up for some more abhorrent racial demagoguery from the second-ranking Democrat in the United States Senate? Illinois’ Dick Durbin has already played the Selma card during the Loretta Lynch confirmation fight, but perhaps that was just too subtle for his tastes (and subtlety isn’t his forte, especially when it comes to discussing the troops). Next up on his rhetorical roster is a flagrant segregation smear:

Alex Bolton ✔ @alexanderbolton
Dick Durbin says AG nom Loretta Lynch is being “asked to sit in the back of the bus when it comes to the Senate calendar.”

The slow-walking of Loretta Lynch’s nomination as Attorney General has nothing to do with her race or gender, and her “plight” bears zero resemblance to the institutionalized bigotry Rosa Parks bravely defied. To imply, or openly state, otherwise is cheap and disgusting. Back in reality, Republicans have held up Lynch’s confirmation because of her endorsement of President Obama’s immigration lawlessness, and more recently, as leverage to force Democrats to stop filibustering an anti-human-trafficking law. Yes, that’s actually happening:

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell dug in on Tuesday, demanding the chamber finish work on an anti-human trafficking measure before considering Lynch. The Kentucky Republican said the Senate would hold repeated votes on the bill in the coming days. That leaves the Senate in a bind because Democrats have promised to filibuster the trafficking bill unless an abortion-related provision is stripped out. On Tuesday, 43 Democrats voted to block the measure on a procedural vote — denying Republicans the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation for final passage. “We’re going to stay on the bill,” McConnell told reporters. “I’ve said all along I thought that the president’s nominee to be attorney general is entitled to be considered on the Senate floor. And she will be considered as soon as we finish this very important bill.”

Wow. Just wow.

Hot Air had an update, though, and it was a doozy. Wanna talk about consequences for throwing stones, that would be this response from my Senator, Tim Scott:

A fun Durbin fact, via Sen. Tim Scott, the black Republican overwhelmingly elected by an extremely conservative electorate: “It is helpful to have a long memory and to remember that Durbin voted against Condoleezza Rice during the 40th anniversary of the March [on Selma]. So I think in context it’s just offensive that we have folks who are willing to race bait on such an important issue as human trafficking. Sometimes people use race as an issue that is hopefully going to motivate folks for their fight. But what it does, is it infuriates people.” This is an elegant way of sending the message I linked above. (Click here to read the rest.)

About that glass house in which you live, Sen. Durbin – maybe you should stop pulling out the damn race card now, whaddya think??

But I have to share a hilariously funny outcome to someone trying to use the race card with arrogance and condescension. The result was, well, I’ll let you judge for yourself. From Legal Insurrection:

[…] Hayes brought guests Nancy Giles of CBS Sunday Morning, and culture commentator and DJ, Jay Smooth to share their thoughts on Starbucks’ latest social endeavor. Smooth is the founder of the longest running hip-hop radio show in New York City.

Conversation ensued, then Hayes played a previously recorded clip of Smooth discussing the best way to discuss race.

After watching the clip, Nancy Giles turns to Smooth, begins gyrating her shoulders and says, “I can’t help but tease Jay about the kinda like, brotha way he was trying to talk, like “hey” with the rap music in the background and like, down with people.”

“Well, I’m a rap guy,” says Smooth smiling.

“But it’s another interesting, funny thing about race,” Giles goes on, “like, there would be some people who feel that you co-opted something like that and other people might feel “well that’s his background and that’s really cool, too” these are conversations that are really interesting.”

“It’s also interesting because I’m actually black, but you assumed otherwise. And this is the sort of awkwardness you can look forward to at Starbucks.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Yep, just like our president, Jay’s mother is white, and his father black. How’d that race card work out for you, Nancy? Ahahahahaha…

Finally, I want to leave you with the remarks by ESPN commentator, Stephen A. Smith, as he discusses the issue of black people and politics:

You can read his remarks at this Daily Caller article. He makes some great points, does he not?

If nothing else, maybe, just maybe, it will make some folks out the brakes on before playing the race card again. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

And now, it is all yours. What is on your minds today? This is an Open Thread.

Doncha just love it when fools like Durban and his demagoguery are shown for the hypocrites, not to mention race-baiters, that they are? And doncha just love Tim Scott and his long memory?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes I do! And I love when people like Giles make a fool out of herself being so smug and arrogant, talking down to this guy who is just as black as Obama is, as if he is some white guy trying to be black. Serves her, and Durbin, right.

Thank heavens for Tim Scott on so many levels!

Great Piece and I still just keep wondering why…If not for the race card I do believe that Obama would never have won. The race card was abused so much that no one dared to vet Obama the way he should have been. Now, too many Non-Whites are using it to excuse doing anything they want to. All one has to do is look at the FBI stat reports and cringe at not only the % of murders and crimes by Blacks, but the overall increase in crime since Obama was sworn in. Actually since Obama was sworn in the number of slanderous murders/slaughter of innocent people has increased in the World; mostly by Islamic Terrorists .
Did you know that guy Williams who shot the two Ferguson police officers is claiming he got beat up now. Turns out there is some really nice video of Williams about 30 mins before the shooting fighting with another black man. The video is of the protest that he shot into. Isn’t video so neat at times!!! Video has not only shut down Williams on this but all the major protests players who have been trying to disassociate themselves with Williams. There is not only video of Williams with some of the top Protest leaders/organizers but also of Williams looting some of the stores.

Thanks, Kin – and no doubt you are right abt the race card being used to great effect in 2008. That is how the DNC justified, no doubt, selecting the candidate instead of going with the will of the people, using all the shenanigans they could to push Obama over the threshold. It was appalling behavior, and really showed them for who they are.

It is remarkable to see the reaction whenever a young black man is held to account these days after breaking the law. I don’t care if he is a UVA student or not (my partner’s alma mater): if you break the law, and resist arrest, you are going to receive harsh treatment. That’s all there is to it. And all these rallies and protests in support simply elevate people who have broken the law, and encourage the belief that some people are ABOVE the law. No one is, including Obama, though he has gotten away with it more than other presidents have, that’s for sure…

OHMYGOSH – are you kidding me with this Williams guy?? So glad there is evidence of his actual behavior to counteract his lies to try and get sympathy.

WOW, what is this country coming to, I ask you?!

It is hard to feel sorry for the people who kept voting for him. I mean, sorry for the worker involved, but it isn’t just that person losing their job, thanks to Obama.

      IOW, you are spot on!
