Giving Away The Store To Iran *Open Thread*

The “talks” with Iran continue with the illustrious (cough, cough) Secretary of State, John Kerry, representing this Administration on doing whatever the hell Iran wants them to do just to claim they MADE A DEAL!!! Woohoo! Ahem.

Check out what this Administration is prepared to do just to get this deal (h/t Facebook friend). From the Washington Beacon:

[…] U.S. negotiators are said to have given up ground on demands that Iran be forced to disclose the full range of its nuclear activities at the outset of a nuclear deal, a concession experts say would gut the verification the Obama administration has vowed would stand as the crux of a deal with Iran.

Until recently, the Obama administration had maintained that it would guarantee oversight on Tehran’s program well into the future, and that it would take the necessary steps to ensure that oversight would be effective. The issue has now emerged as a key sticking point in the talks.

Concern from sources familiar with U.S. concessions in the talks comes amid reports that Iran could be permitted to continue running nuclear centrifuges at an underground site once suspected of housing illicit activities.

This type of concession would allow Iran to continue work related to its nuclear weapons program, even under the eye of international inspectors. If Iran removes inspectors—as it has in the past—it would be left with a nuclear infrastructure immune from a strike by Western forces.

“Once again, in the face of Iran’s intransigence, the U.S. is leading an effort to cave even more toward Iran—this time by whitewashing Tehran’s decades of lying about nuclear weapons work and current lack of cooperation with the [International Atomic Energy Agency],” said one Western source briefed on the talks but who was not permitted to speak on record. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Oh, what could POSSIBLY go wrong with allowing Iran to continue running centrifuges UNDERGROUND???

And it still begs the question, why does a country that can pump out over three million barrels of oil a DAY need nuclear energy, huh? Yeah. Exactly. It is all smoke and mirrors.

But then there is the whole issue of Iran’s involvement in Yemen. Hint: they are on the opposite side from us, and our allies like Saudi Arabia. From Fox News:

[…] The sudden internationalization of the Yemen conflict brewing for months throws a new convolution in the twisted threads of conflict in the Middle East. The new tension puts the United States, a traditional ally of Saudi Arabia, in a precarious situation with Tehran as it tries to negotiate a nuclear deal before the end of this month.

In Iraq, the U.S. and Iran are implicitly on the same side — both helping the Shiite-led government in Baghdad battle Islamic State group militants, though Tehran and Washington are intently avoiding any actual contacts. In Yemen, the U.S. is backing the Gulf and its allies against Shiite rebels allied to Iran — while at the same time, Al Qaeda’s branch in the country is also fighting the Shiite rebels.

Saudi Arabia and fellow Sunni-led allies in the Gulf and the Middle East view the Houthi takeover as a move by Iran to establish a proxy on the kingdom’s southern border. Iran and the Houthis deny that Tehran arms the rebel movement, though Tehran says it gives it diplomatic and humanitarian support.

In a pre-dawn statement as the airstrikes began, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain said their action aimed to “protect” Yemenis from Houthis who are “a tool in the hands of foreign powers.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Yeah, we know exactly who that tools “foreign power” is. The same one John Kerry is doing his damndest to ingratiate himself, and the USA, to just to claim that a deal was made. Brilliant. Just brilliant, Kerry and Obama. Good grief.

And it naturally begs the question raised by William Jacobson from Legal Insurrection, “Grandpa, what did you do to stop Iran building the bomb?

The possible response? Well, I am sure you can guess:

Not enough, dear, not enough.

I could imagine such a conversation some decades in the future, if and when I have grandchildren and they are old enough to comprehend the historical mistakes of prior generations.

The deal being discussed does not eliminate Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons, it enshrines the process by international agreement so long as Iran does not take the last step. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Oh, I am SOOOO sure we can trust Iran to not take that final step, right? Because they have proven themselves to be so trustworthy in the past, dontcha know (that is sarcasm, in case you are wondering). Iran has NEVER acted as an honest broker, and to expect them to do so now on such a critically important issue is just insanity.

I have a deal I’d like to make with this Administration: stop capitulating and enabling our enemies, and the enemies of our allies, and start focusing on protecting the people you were elected to represent. Maybe, just maybe, that might help both Obama and Kerry not go down as some of the most ineffective, pathetic, inept Secretary of State and POTUS we have ever had in Foreign Policy if nothing else (and we know there is much else that would fit into that category).

I want to leave this on a positive note, though, and that is to highlight the announcement by Senate Minority Obstructionist Leader Harry Reid that he will NOT be seeking re-election. This is my reaction:

How about you? This is an Open Thread.

Oh, that should be good. I still don’t get all the love being showered on Warren. She is just as bad as any of the rest of them, a hypocrite and liar from the word, “GO!” Just boggles the mind…

Neither one is good for the country. 👿

Jonah Goldberg asks the question I’ve asked myself many times.

Can Jewish Americans Support Both Democrats and Israel?

“I don’t understand how Jews in America can be Democrats first and Jewish second and support Israel along the line of just following their president,” vented Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Boston Herald Radio last week.

It was a small controversy in the grand scheme of things, easily overlooked during a week when: a German pilot turned a routine flight into a murder-suicide mission, Ted Cruz drove the media batty by announcing he will run for president as Ted Cruz, an Army sergeant and Taliban captive the White House touted as a hero was charged with desertion, and America joined forces with Iran in Iraq to kill Sunni jihadists while allying with Saudi Arabia in Yemen to kill Shiite jihadists (who are backed by Iran).

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Marge, that is the question many of my Jewish friends have been asking on Facebook – more like, how in the hell can any Jews support the Democrats. Thank you so much for this Goldberg piece. I am going to go share it with my friends right now!

Much as I am happy to see the end of Harry Reid, Schumer will, IMO, be worse. Not to mention that the “smarmy” factor will go up by 100%.

Can’t understand the “love” for Elizabeth Warren – Fauxcahontus is hardly my idea of a leader.

However both Schumer and Warren do fit my idea of Democrats – corrupt and dishonest.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it abt Schumer. I couldn’t/can’t stand Reid – never did like him. But Schumer strikes me as the kind who will stab you in the back quick as not. At least Reid would do it to your face…

    Anyone surprised?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Not one bit, mcnorman! (This is funny – I just finished putting in a little bit abt this in my post for tomorrow since we are going to be out and abt all day. Great minds and all that!)

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

This is the arrogance of someone who truly thinks they are above the laws and rules governing mere mortals. The arrogance and dishonestly of someone not fit to hold ANY office in a Democracy.

Ditto the lying POS Elijah Cummings. There is no low too low for him to go.

The “timing” of the “wiping” is very interesting. No wonder her poll numbers are dropping. Only truly dedicated Dems and others lacking any ability to see the truth could continue to support her. But many women will simply because she is a woman. As if women cannot be just as crooked and despicable as any man. Worse actually because I think woman have more range.

Benghazi chairman: Clinton wiped private email server ‘clean’

The head of the House Select Committee on Benghazi says former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has erased all information from the personal email server she used while serving as the nation’s top diplomat.

“We learned today, from her attorney, Secretary Clinton unilaterally decided to wipe her server clean and permanently delete all emails from her personal server,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a statement Friday.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is precisely the article I link to – again, great minds! 🙂

And the cartoon is SPOT ON. It reminds me of these Hillary “Super Volunteers,” spearheaded by some woman in Texas, who have put out a list of words they deem “sexist” and will react if they are used to describe Clinton by the media. The thing is, most of the words on the list I saw are NOT sexist: out of touch, elitist, entitled, for example. Those are NOT sexist terms.

      What is WRONG with people?!?

And I am RIGHT there with you abt Elijah Cummings. That man should have already been brought up on charges for threatening a private citizen like he did the Rock the Vote founder. He is mighty low, no doubt abt it.

This move by Clinton, to wipe her server AFTER these emails were requested, has GOT to carry some kind of punishment, doesn’t it? Those were OUR emails, after all, and she clearly did it to hide information.

I still cannot believe I supported this woman SO much, with so much dedication, effort, time, and money. Ugh.

Michael Walsh of PJ Media points out some facts that the MSM, for the most part, prefers to ignore.

Obama’s Middle Eastern Flameout Has Dems, Media Starting to Panic Alas, we are all prisoners of L’il Barry’s coming of age.

Don’t take it from me, take it from one of the major Democrat Party house organs, Politico:

Barack Obama faces a slew of Middle East crises that some call the worst in a generation, as new chaos from Yemen to Iraq — along with deteriorating U.S.-Israeli relations — is confounding the president’s efforts to stabilize the region and strike a nuclear deal with Iran. The meltdown has Obama officials defending their management of a region that some call impossible to control, even as critics say U.S. policies there are partly to blame for the spreading anarchy.

“If there’s one lesson this administration has learned, from President Obama’s 2009 Cairo speech through the Arab Spring, it’s that when it comes to this region, nothing happens in a linear way — and precious little is actually about us, which is a hard reality to accept,” said a senior State Department official.

I imagine it is hard for the Barry Hussein administration to understand that not everything is about Barry Hussein. But wait — it gets worse:

    Not everyone is so forgiving.

“We’re in a goddamn free fall here,” said James Jeffrey, who served as Obama’s ambassador to Iraq and was a top national security aide in the George W. Bush White House.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      GREAT cartoon!

And yes, it sure says something that Politico is reporting this kind of thing. Again, what took them so damn long?! It just infuriates me the way this media failed us so completely, and now they are finally waking up and realizing how dangerous Obama’s policies are.

But I don’t think Obama will ever think everything is all abt him. He has bought the hype of his PR team that he IS The One. He will plow forward regardless of what everyone else says or demands because he is Omniscient, dontcha know.

Yes, isn’t that incredible abt the “freefall” comment. I had a link to it from Western Journalism above, but didn’t spell it out enough, so thanks for including it. It is a powerful indictment indeed!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Politico, along with most of the MSM took sides and their bias “allowed” them to ignore facts and print feelings. That leaves them with zero credibility and they know. Once they allowed their bias and ideology to keep them from any journalistic standards they put themselves between a rock and a hard place.

Now when they do an honest piece of reporting the reaction, from most people, is exactly like yours – “What took you so long.”

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That sums it up beautifully, Marge – they have lost good will, and worse, TRUST in what they have to say. Let’s see if they can actually keep up the facts or if they backslide into their propaganda puff pieces in support of Obama , or other Dems they want to protect…

          • kenoshamarge Says:

Not to mention that when they “now” tell the truth they look stupid and corrupt for their previous “reporting”. Rock and a hard place indeed.
