A Goodwill Ambassador, And Other Good News *Weekend Open Thread*

by

As the inevitable attacks against Republicans from The Commander in Chief on down to the media continue to heat up with the 2016 elections on the horizon, and with the seemingly inevitable tide of support for Hillary Clinton no matter the lies, the distorted record, the missteps, and mistakes, I think we can all use a little goodness right about now.

And so I want to bring you the story of Mala, a Teacup Poodle, who is a Goodwill Ambassador at a nursing home. Here is her story, and her work:

How absolutely precious is she? I have to say, though, that unlike the USA Today commentator, I haven’t a DOUBT that dogs, cats, all God’s animals, end up in Heaven. Not a doubt in my mind on that one, I have to say.

In case you want to read about Nala’s story instead, you can click HERE to do so.

As we know, it isn’t just dogs who provide this kind of comfort and support. I have written before about the comfort, joy, and support the mini-horses from Gentle Carousel provide for seniors and the elderly, for sick children, and for those who have sustained tragedies. They are, of course, one of many organizations with therapy animals.

But what about when it is the animals who need comfort? Well, that is where Radamenes comes in. Radamenes is a black cat who lives in Poland (photo from Good News Network).

Radamenes comforts another cat.

This is his story, from Good News Network:

When a rescued two-month-old kitten named Radamenes was rushed into a Polish clinic last year, doctors didn’t think he would make it. Plagued with an extreme respiratory infection, they were planning to euthanize him – but, then he started to purr. It was the beginning of a miraculous recovery for the black kitty, and through it all he might have learned some tips about care giving.

He began seeking out ill animals that might need comfort or warmth. The staff noticed that Radamenes paid special attention to those, like himself, undergoing the most serious treatments. Whether hugging or grooming the patients, the “nurse cat” spends much of his day purring the sickest back to health. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Isn’t that just precious? I love that he is a therapy cat to other ill animals, both cats AND dogs. Apparently, he does not discriminate, according to the article. Radamenes was given a gift, and has chosen to repay it time after time. What a great cat!

Now on to a “Good News” story that involves people. You may have heard of one of them, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. From Instagram via SunnySkys:

Cool story to share on Easter.. After my workout I’m drivin’ in my pick up and notice these kids in the rearview mirror screamin’ & runnin’ after my truck. Thought to myself, “Should I stop or keep drivin’?” I stopped. I hop out of my truck and this kid runs up to me, hugs the hell outta me and says it’s been his life’s dream to meet me and tell me how much I’ve inspired him to fight cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma) and hard core chemo and stem cell transplant treatments. He was a little teary eyed and said for months and months all he’s wanted to do was find me and say this face to face. I told him what it meant to me to hear this story. I thanked him, hugged him (and his friends), got back in my truck and drove away. As I’m drivin’ I start shaking my head (and tearing up) at how fragile life is and how amazing and cool the universe was to make this meeting happen between myself and this special kid Nick Miller. Let’s always take a moment to count our blessings.. cause there’s always something to be grateful for. Happy Easter y’all – DJ

How cool is it that The Rock stopped for this kid chasing his truck? I mean, really – how many celebrities would do that? And not just stop, but listen to what the kid had to say. If you click on the Instragram link, you can see the two of them posing together. And hey, if Johnson can keep inspiring Miller to overcome his cancer, and I sure hope Miller does, amen to that, am I right?

I have one more story about a couple of people, one of whom you definitely know, Gov. Sarah Palin, and the “comedian,” Louis C.K. Personally, what I have heard of his humor seems misogynistic and ugly. Many liberals seem to like him, so much so that he has a show on FX. The event in question happened at the SNL Anniversary event recently according to The Blaze:

[…] “She says, ‘Hey, I think you’re terrific. I think you’re really funny and my nephew told me I have to say hi to you and you’re the one guy I have to meet.’” the comedian recalled. “Something came over me emotionally and I said, ‘Well, I owe you an apology.’”

Louis C.K. said he’s “never in a million years apologized for anything” he’s said before, and he made it clear he doesn’t apologize to anyone else who was offended by his remarks. However, seeing Palin in person moved him to make amends because he’s not an “insult guy.” If you wish, you can read his graphic tweets directed at Palin here. [Note: I chose not to retrieve the link and see any of his Tweets about Palin. If you wish to do so, you can go to the Blaze article via this link and retrieve the Tweets.)

After he admitted that he’d said some “bad things” about her, Palin apparently responded, “Well, you’re a vile person.”

“And it kind of made me laugh,” he said. “I said, ‘yeah, I hope I didn’t hurt you’re feelings and I’m sorry.’”

Before their brief conversation ended, Louis C.K. said Palin invited him to go fishing if he was ever in Alaska, something he admitted he would do in a “heartbeat.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

How about that? Amazing what happens when these people who go out of their way to attack someone based on rumor, innuendo, and downright hatred based on nothing more than ideology actually meet their target face-to-face. Louis C.K. found out what most of us already knew: Palin is the real deal, and he bought a bill of goods that was nothing but a bunch of lemons. At least he admitted he was wrong. That’s something too many are incapable of doing, so there is that…

That’s it for me. This is the Weekend Open Thread, and you know what that means – share whatever stories, news, or music you wish!

**Programming Note! Rep. Trey Gowdy is going to be on Judge Jeanine’s show on Saturday night. Now THAT is a Dream Team!

Lucky seniors who have Nala to visit them. I want so much to get a dog and honestly believe that it would help me heal. However I cannot yet take care of a dog so it wouldn’t be fair. Soon I hope.

Thanks for sharing Nala’s story. It made me cry but they were good tears.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So glad you liked her story – made me cry, too!

I can certainly appreciate your feeling that way abt getting a dog. As we have discussed here, senior dogs often get overlooked for adoption, but they are sure out there looking for homes. Perhaps once you have mended some more, you and Lou could consider it? Walking her/him would be good for your heart, right? And the love would be good for your overall health, no doubt! 🙂

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Most definitely a senior/older dog. And the walking part is what I cannot do just yet – not with any regularity. Still have good and bad days and have a dry, hacking cough I cannot get rid of that makes my life miserable. We think the blood pressure medicine may be causing it. If it ain’t one thing it’s another! And I want my dog!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I am so sorry to hear that, Marge. I bet that cough makes you nuts. I hope that you can lick that and soon, as well as not being able to walk much (I totally understand the walking part. There is a reason we have 3/4 of an acre fenced in just for the dog!).

Sure hope you can get that doggy and SOON!!

I hear ya girl friend. ❤

Meanwhile back to not so feel good politics.

Even if I wanted to see a 3rd Bush in the White House in my lifetime, I don’t, I wouldn’t want it to be Jeb Bush. He’s way past “moderate” IMO and just slightly to the right of HRC. Nominate him and watch the Dems win the White House again as conservatives stay home. This is far too important an election to run Jeb Bush and like Clinton he seems to belong to yesterday.

Jeb Bush comes out for Loretta Lynch

It may just be that the biggest difference between the moderate Republicans whom conservatives do not support and those they do is this: whether or not a candidate understands that the left is playing hardball. Bush isn’t bringing a knife to a gunfight; it’s worse than that. He’s bringing a peashooter to a gunfight.

    http://legalinsurrection.com/2015/04/jeb-bush-comes-out-for-loretta-lynch/

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ugh. I do not want Jeb in the WH either. There are so many good choices coming along now, he is WAY down on the list in my book. This is just yet one more reason why I would not choose him.

  3. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

How about a hypocrisy twofer? That would be Academia and Hollywood. Talk abt no credibility or integrity (another twofer). H/t to a Facebook friend: http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2015/04/17/ben-affleck-pressured-pbs-to-edit-out-slave-owning-grandfather-in-ancestry-doc/

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      Pitiful 🙄

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Is that the same Ben Affleck that said he doesn’t want to just “play” a hero but wants to “be” one? Someone needs to tell this fool that heroes are honest folk. He doesn’t now, and probably never will qualify.

Of course him being the liberal Hollywood hypocrite that he is he can always pretend to “be” one. Pathetic little poseur!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it. And the hypocrisy of Gates and the others with their ginned up excuse for why they didn’t include it makes clear there are no depths these people will not go to to protect one of their own. It is so stupid anyway since this was quite some time ago, and Affleck had nothing to do with it. But we all know that isn’t how their narrative works…

  4. HELENK3 Says:

Is this what it has come to in this country?

  5. kenoshamarge Says:

Robert Tracinski asks, and answers some good questions on “Global Warming.”

I personally refuse to listen to any pinhead that says that “the science is settled”. The “science” is never settled. It is constantly changing.

These arrogant fools like to portray themselves as all knowing and the doubters as somehow anti-science. To me someone foolish enough to say “the science is settled” needs to sit down and STFU. And that definitely includes our current silly POTUS.

Like Tracinski the “warmists” haven’t even come close to convincing me.

What It Would Take to Prove Global Warming

I’ve gone on record a long time ago sketching out what stages would be required to demonstrate that humans are causing rising global temperatures, never mind the much more dubious proposition that warmer weather is going to be a catastrophe. Let me elaborate on it here.

    There are three main requirements.

    1) A clear understanding of the temperature record.

The warmists don’t just have to show that temperatures are getting warmer, because variation is normal. That’s what makes “climate change” such an appallingly stupid euphemism. The climate is always changing. The environmentalists are the real climate-change “deniers” because they basically want global temperatures to maintain absolute stasis relative to 1970—not coincidentally the point at which environmentalists first began paying any attention to the issue.

    http://thefederalist.com/2015/04/17/what-it-would-take-to-prove-global-warming/

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

YES! Exactly! Not only does the climate change all the time, but these people like our POTUS who insist that it is one thing despite evidence lacking to support their position while attacking those who choose a more fact/data/informed opinion are doing a great disservice to all of us. Heck, now you even have the POPE weighing in on this because of a POLITICAL push by those on the Left.

As I have written abt before, the data has been skewed so often to fit a pre-conceived political opinion, it cheapens their argument anyway. Do they admit they are wrong? Nope – they double down and attack people more.

      Thanks for this!

  6. kenoshamarge Says:

My Sunday morning dose of Michael Goodwin does not disappoint. He seldom does. He is much further right than I am but this assessment of the direction the “mainstream” is taking seems spot on to me.

Also love the take on the financial shenanigans of HRC. Is anyone really surprised?

    Radicalism is going mainstream

We live in strange times, and they are getting stranger by the day. I have argued that America appears headed for a crack-up, and mainstream radicalism is both cause and effect of the potential chaos.

If the center doesn’t hold, nothing else can.

And then there’s the ever popular and usual Clinton corruption story pointed out so well in this column. And if “Reader Friedberg” is waiting for the MSM to bring this story to the public I hope he isn’t holding his breath.

Reader Barry Friedberg sees a big Hillary Clinton story waiting to be told.

“If she gives a speech for a fee of $300,000 and receives it directly, federal and state taxes take about $150,000,” he writes. “But if the same fee goes to the Clinton Foundation, she pays zero taxes, leaving the full amount available for private jets, hotels, meals, entertainment, etc.”

All she has to do “to reasonably justify travel and entertainment is show some relationship to programs and promoting the foundation.”

    http://nypost.com/2015/04/18/radicalism-is-going-mainstream/

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      LOL, love the cartoon!!

Goodwin is something, isn’t he? I admire that he admitted he voted for Obama, and saw the light. And he makes a great point. The level of radicalism in this country really is doing great damage to us. We cannot become another Greece burdened with unsustainable entitlements, forcing a small minority of people to pay for almost EVERYTHING for the rest (despite the attacks on those who have worked hard to become successful, the top 20% in this country pay 84% of taxes), and demeaning them when they won’t pay even more, as well as ALL of the social problems that are occurring as a result. Yes, the Center must hold…

Oh, and INTERESTING point abt Clinton’s speaking fees. That sure gives some food for thought, doesn’t it?

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

Ever wonder where all the “black lives matter” crowd was when Miriam Carey was shot? No outrage that this “black” woman was shot 5 times with her child in the car with her? Do the lives of “black” women matter less than the lives of “black” men?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Apparently, all lives matter less than black lives now. It is amazing to me that this whole meme has become so pervasive and widespread considering in EACH event, the black man was NOT an innocent bystander. But yeah – I always thought that all lives mattered, not one over the other. That is apparently SO last century thinking…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Also it seems that the lives of black men killed by white men are more important than those killed by other black men. The numbers of black men killed by those of their own race is huge. But no outrage or marches about that. The hypocrisy is a stink in the body politic.

        • foxyladi14 Says:

          Indeed Marge. 😦

          • kenoshamarge Says:

I don’t understand why the majority of people in the black community don’t seem to care. It makes no sense to me.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ain’t that the truth, Marge! How is that even possible? Not to mention he black children killed by black gangs in places like Chicago, or white babies killed by black teenagers in FL (I think it was). It is truly discouraging what is happening.

These narratives continue to be pushed out there by the media. Our paper today still had a front page article abt Walter Scott, “Friend. Father. Son.: NO acknowledgment of his behavior, or his part in his demise. Nothing. They continue to perpetuate the meme of “innocent black man killed by police officer.” No one mentions the unarmed white man killed by a black police officer in Salt lake City at the same time as Ferguson was going on.

And then there are articles like this one from Courtland Milloy that ignores the behavior of Scott, leaving out COMPLETELY his altercation with Officer Slager, AND perpetuating the myth that Eric Garner was choked, all while writing abt the education he received on police training: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/2015/04/14/793b65b0-e2c6-11e4-b510-962fcfabc310_story.html

          So sick of this.

  8. foxyladi14 Says:

The race card worked so well.
They are using a new one this this time?/ 😯

  9. kenoshamarge Says:

How did the fool that designed the Hillary logo and those who signed off on it not see this coming? And the many variations that are sure to come? If they didn’t see this coming its no wonder they cannot foresee unintended consequences from their actions and policies.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFLMAO – I have to say, when I saw her logo again last night, I couldn’t IMAGINE what they were thinking with that…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I have all ready collected 7 other variations on this theme and will share them soon. Don’t want to bury you in them.

Who thought this logo was “smart” politics? Wouldn’t Hillary have to approve it before it became her logo? How dumb was that?

  10. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

By all means, keep them coming! I just put up a new post, and they would be most appropriate there! 😉
