Do These People Ever Listen To Themselves? Tax Cheats And Top Tax Man *Open Thread*

Oh, this is rich (!). Truly, this is indeed a laughing matter, particularly because of the massive levels of hypocrisy it highlights (more on that below).

And just what would that be exactly? The increasing number of MSNBC hacks journalists being slapped with massive IRS tax fines. From Townhall:

When they blather on about the rich paying their “fair share,” they’re talking about somebody else. You knew about Al Sharpton. You knew about Melissa Harris Perry. Here are two more, via National Review:

Touré Neblett, co-host of MSNBC’s The Cycle, owes more than $59,000 in taxes, according to public records reviewed by National Review. In September 2013, New York issued a state tax warrant to Neblett and his wife, Rita Nakouzi, for $46,862.68. Six months later, the state issued an additional warrant to the couple for $12,849.87…Last month, New York filed a $4,948.15 tax warrant against Joy-Ann Reid, who serves as managing editor of and until earlier this year hosted MSNBC’s The Reid Report, and her husband, Jason. Reid has called taxes on the wealthy “a basic fairness argument,” also arguing for “smart spending and smart tax increases” to create economic growth. NR could not reach Neblett or Reid directly, despite sending e-mails to them directly and asking for comment through an MSNBC spokesperson. Representatives for Neblett and Reid said their tax debts were in the process of being resolved.

C’mpn, that is funny, isn’t it?

It is made even funnier by the video Guy Benson included in that piece (you can read the rest of it here, and it is well worth your time! Oh, and Benson gives a hat tip to David Rutz of Free Beacon for the video):

I admit, I couldn’t even make it through the minute and a half of Perry and Sharpton’s “blather” about taxes and the duty of people to pay their taxes knowing those two are MASSIVE tax cheats. That Sharpton continues to be invited to the White House with such regularity when he should be in prison speaks volumes.

And speaking of tax cheats, I think that title should really go to the top Tax Man, John Koskinen, chief of the IRS. Mr. Koskinen has been spending some time on the Hill being grilled about the abysmal manner by which the IRS is being run under his direction. Not only would I put him up there as the top Tax Cheat, but when it comes to the issue of taxes and money, let’s go ahead and nominate him for Biggest Hypocrite, too.

Why? Because Koskinen is whining that the IRS doesn’t get enough money from Congress to do its job. But let’s just look at some of the ways the IRS is SPENDING our money. From Washington Examiner:

[…] “Spending decisions entirely under the IRS’s control led to 16 million fewer taxpayers receiving IRS assistance this filing season,” said the report, which was prepared by majority staff of the tax-writing House panel chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc.

“Other spending choices, including prioritizing employee bonuses and union activity on the taxpayer’s dime, used up resources that otherwise could have been used to assist another 10 million taxpayers,” the report said.

Budget cuts that Congress has imposed on the IRS in recent years resulted in part from “waste and misconduct” at the tax agency, including nearly $50 million spent on employee conferences that critics say were extravagant and unnecessary. Congress has reduced IRS funding by $1.2 billion since 2010.

The IRS collects nearly $500 million in user fees each year, which it can then spend freely without congressional approval.

However, instead of applying that money to its floundering customer service unit or to enforcement efforts, the tax agency chose to spend that money on “other priorities,” including more than $60 million in lavish employee bonuses and $23.5 million on union activities, the committee report said.

Despite the supposedly crippling cuts, the IRS was the federal government’s second-highest spender on union work in 2014.

Can you believe that? Over TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS spent on UNION costs. How the hell is that even legal, I would like to know? Why should our hard earned dollars be going to pay for someone else’s union dues/activities? That is crap, if you ask me.

But then there is the issue of the BONUSES Koskinen has been giving out like candy. The IRS has handled itself poorly over the past six years, managing to find the money to target hundreds of tea party and religious groups with which the Powers-That-Be disagreed politically, have shelled out all this money to their employees and unions, but somehow can’t bother to answer the calls of the people who PAY THEIR SALARIES??

But wait, there is more:

[…] IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has claimed his agency will lose $2 billion in uncollected revenue due to resource constraints.

But the IRS has ignored dozens of recommendations for ways to save money from the Government Accountability Office, the National Taxpayer advocate and its own inspector general.

For example, the agency handed out $17.7 billion in improper Earned Income Tax Credit payments last year alone, which is more than any other federal program except Medicare.

Other sources of waste included the IRS’s hiring of an outside law firm — Quinn Emanuel — to assist in its review of Microsoft, despite having an extensive in-house network of tax law experts and access to an additional team of tax attorneys at the Department of Justice.

Quinn Emanuel lawyers cost taxpayers roughly $1,000 per hour, the report found. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Wow. Just freaking wow.

Here is what I do not understand. Why was Koskinen not fired on the spot when before Congress yesterday? Seriously. His arrogance, cockiness, and dripping condescension alone should have landed him on Unemployment. If not that, his total mismanagement of this agency while demanding MORE money to waste certainly should have.

This kind of waste and mismanagement is PRECISELY why the Government has no business being in charge of things like our HEALTH CARE. They cannot be trusted to act efficiently, effectively, or with integrity. That much is clear.

That’s what I think, and this is an Open Thread.

this is good. wish we had more of this.
reporters no longer do the jobs they should on investigating candidates and giving the public information so they can make an informed decision on who to vote for. If it takes books like this authors, so be it

WHOA this is a NYT reporter on MSNBC

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I think we all knew from the way the MSM treated HRC when she had the audacity to run in a primary against the anointed one – Barack Obama. Back then his color trumped her gender with his adoring fans in and out of the media.

Still I didn’t actually think that many in the liberal media wouldn’t bow down and kiss her feet since she was a good girl and waited her place in line – men first and women after just like getting the vote. After all black men had the vote many years before women of any color. See a pattern of hypocrisy here?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely, Marge – that is the way it has been done for centuries, it seems. The DNC is by no means any different. Now that I see them with clearer eyes, it is abundantly obvious how they REALLY treat women. Heck, all one has to do is look back to 2008 and see how they treated one of their OWN, and Palin, too.

Yeah, I am not buying what they are selling.

Helen, I imagine Peters might be looking for a new job soon! Ahem…

Just watch the minions carry the water. NYT or not, they will do what they are told to do.

Leona Helmsley said it so simply…”taxes are for the little people.” Guess the MSNBC creeps think they have made it big time and are no longer “little people.”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Good one, mcnorman! Yes, it sure seems that way, doesn’t it? Even with their sanctimonious preaching and disparaging of neighbors as Perry did, THEY don’t have to pay. Just the rest of us, dontcha know.

      • mcnorman Says:

Look no further than HRC and the foundation redoing their taxes because some contributions were underreported.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no doubt. A Facebook friend had this piece up abt the companies that got State Dept awards that just HAPPENED to be Clinton Donors:

          • mcnorman Says:

Shocking, huh? I’m not too surprised at anything that the Clintons do these days. I’m just curious as to what made the DNC dump HRC over the idiot…must have been something really good.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You said it, mcnorman. It was something, that’s for sure. Still cannot believe the WOMEN, so-called feminists, who threw themselves at, I mean, behind, Obama, the inexperienced, unqualified man. It really said so much, didn’t it?

But yeah – it had to be good. I said years ago that I figured they were going to go with him then and Hillary now to keep a lock on the White House. And with the way Dems are falling in line no matter how outrageous or radical the Party is becoming, I sure hope they will not be successful…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ugh. What a shock – not.. So sick of spineless politicians…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I expected this. Now we will have to listen to cries of both “racism” and “misogyny” every time anyone dares disagree with her.

And no, we will never have a Department of Justice so long as Obama is in office. Laws mean nothing to the left.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, no doubt, Marge – that is exactly what will happen becaues it is NEVER abt policies, or decisions, or actions (or lack thereof). It is all abt IDENTITY, and nothing else matters.

  8. kenoshamarge Says:

Great Daniel Greenfield article on immigration!

IMO Scott Walker doesn’t “fit” the establishment mold so the establishment wants Jeb Bush. Therefore they feel the need to attack him.

The more the establishment attacks him the better most Republicans will like him. Except for the dimwits that vote on name recognition and believe that somehow another Bush in the White House would be a good thing. Especially a Bush with more in common with Hillary than with the majority of voters in his party.

That means that Walker, who is gaining some traction, must be destroyed. By the right. Far right won’t like him either because he isn’t a flame thrower. They willfully ignore what happened to unions in Wisconsin on his watch.

Immigration is the 3rd rail because a vast majority of Hispanics are more concerned about their ethnicity than their country. More in love with the Mexican flag than the stars and stripes.

The mystery is why black voters go along with this and these illegal, criminal immigrants will take jobs, and food, out of their mouths. Ain’t no cure for stupid and allowing your ideology to harm your country, your community and your family is stupid beyond belief.

Why Scott Walker Is Right on Immigration

Immigration has become the third rail of American politics.

At a time when the labor force participation rate has fallen to 62 percent and the employment growth for the last 15 years has gone to immigrants, opposing the Super-Amnesty of 12 million illegal aliens is still considered an extreme position… in the Republican Party.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

How telling is it that Walker’s position is considered EXTREME because he want sto focus first on AMERICAN WORKERS and not ideology?! That is just insane to me that people would characterize it so.

What in the hell is going on in this country, and how in the hell did a large bunch of people who aren’t even citizens had such sway in it?? Stunning…

Yep – like that Walker. This country sure needs someone like him at the helm…

  9. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yeah, what he did was NOTHING compared to what Hillary did with her private server. Heck, at least his mistress had high security clearance, too. His problem was having it unsecured, and that was a few documents comparatively speaking. So WHY hasn’t Clinton been charged yet?

  13. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And then there is this little doozy abt a Clinton Foundation employee of FIVE YEARS. It just begs the question how the hell did someone who was/is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood get a job at the Clinton Foundation in the FIRST place?!? Wth?! Sheesh. Here’s the news:

  14. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And this is just one of the reasons why I like and respect Sen. Scott:

  15. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Marge, did you see what else your Senator is trying to do? God, I hate these people sometimes:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

No I hadn’t seen that. Ron Johnson, like so many others, has learned to do the Potomac two-step. He was once someone I respected. Now? Not so much. Problem is the way things are going it will be a choice between him and Russ Feingold. That’s going to get most members of the GOP to vote for Johnson. As well as many of us Independents. Feingold is pure poison IMO.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, dear – yeah, that choice isn’t much of a choice, is it? I usede to respect him, too. Amazing how fast people change once they have been in DC for a while, huh? Sigh…

Here’s another Hillary logo lampoon for your morning chuckle

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ahahahahaha! I saw that Branco had a good one on Clinton’s logo today too (thanks to a friend):

      Branco - Hillary

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I saw that one too. It’s a goody!

How could the Clinton campaign, and the supposedly “brilliant” Hillary Clinton not see how easy her logo was to lampoon?

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I reckon she’s as “brilliant” as Obama…Nah, she probably is smarter than he is – she can at least talk without a teleprompter – but yeah, really. How could they not have seen this coming?

  18. kenoshamarge Says:

Strange how the same media that “reports” on every perceived flaw in Scott Walker just don’t find the time or space to report about the misdeeds of Tammy Baldwin.

Another instance of those pesky Democrats and their problems with ethics. Baldwin learned well from those who went before: call every scandal against her a “political hit job”.

Wisconsin senator accused of cover-up of lack of action in Tomah VA scandal

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Baldwin is another one who has really shown her true colors. I had really liked and supported her when she first came on the scene. But it seems that, once again, the MSM failed to do the least bit of investigation into her. And, I was still a Dem then, so I believed the BS the DNC spewed abt her.

Ethics and morality seem so passe now, don’t they? Wow…

  19. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This truly made me sick to my stomach when I saw it reported this morning. I simply do not understand what is going on with uur young people these days, what they are being taught at home and school that allows them to show such callous disregard and disrespect for both our wounded warriors, and for our flag:

  20. HELENK3 Says:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Spot on. It amazes me how many women refuse to see the countries and people with whom Clinton has engaged, taken MONEY from, and how they treat women/girls. Astonishing.

      Branco is a genius…
