After A Week Of Explosive Revelations, A Little Good News *Weekend Open Thread*

Whew, what an exhausting week this has been! More and more news is coming out about Hillary and Bill Clinton as the week has progressed, and their “Pay to Play” mentality (seemingly). Bret Baier of Special Report had an hour long expose Friday night, “The Clinton Tangled Web,” on some of the shenanigans that just HAVE to be illegal at worst, and unseemly at best. I am assuming they will re-play it throughout the weekend in case you missed it.

Oh, and why do I say some of these actions are likely illegal? Well, I am not an attorney, but Judge Napolitano is, and, clearly, a judge as well. This is what he had to say on the Megyn Kelly Thursday night:

No kidding these allegations should be serious enough that an investigation should be forthcoming. The continued stories coming out about her and Bill are FAR more grievous than the charges against Sen. Menendez and even General Petraeus. So, yeah – chop, chop, let’s get those investigations going.

Whew. But now, it is time to take a little break from the political insanity that has been going on all week.

First up is an adorable dance between a boy in his wheelchair, and R2D2 – yes, the robot:

How cute was that? You just know that made this little boy’s day. Heck, it would make MY day to have a dance with R2D2! Adorable, and sweet, too.

Next up is the story of an incredible young man, Jake Olson, and something amazing he has accomplished, which I will share with you after you watch the following video:

Isn’t Jake something else? What determination, what spirit, what – dare I say – vision, for what he wants to accomplish with his life.

But that isn’t all he has done. From the Daily Caller:

[…] We’ve heard countless stories of sports teams influencing the lives of children with disabilities, but none of them have come close to matching Jake’s inspiring tale.

After getting involved with USC football, Olson has gone on to post a 4.3 GPA, earn admittance to USC, write TWO faith-based, motivational books and raise countless dollars through his Out of Sight Faith foundation.

Oh, and he’s grown into a 195-lb 6’4″ football and golf letter-man, whom current Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian has granted a walk-on spot. “Someday, he’s going to snap in a game for us,” Sarkisian told the L.A. Times. “When? I don’t know. But it will happen… When that day comes, it will be awesome.”

Still, Olson doesn’t expect to be treated differently than any of the other players. He only wants the “opportunity to prove himself like everybody else,” and with an attitude like that, you can’t help but cheer for this young man to succeed. (Click here to read the rest.)

Isn’t that such a wonderful story? What a strong young man, what a young man of faith. What an inspiration he is.

Which leads me to this next story. This is a story of the compassion inspired by the mother of a ten year old girl with developmental issues due to a disease she has. BizPacReview has the story:

Mackenzie Moretter of Shakopee, Minn., suffers from Sotos syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that’s given her an enlarged skull and slows her development. As a result she finds it hard to make friends, according to local Fox affiliate KMSP.

Mackenzie’s mom planned a celebration for her 10th birthday and sent invitations to her daughter’s classmates. When everyone either begged off or didn’t even bother responding, she posted this heartbreaking message on Facebook:

Hello moms. I’m writing because I have a beautiful daughter named Mackenzie who is turning 10. I recently invited several girls to her birthday party this Saturday. I got cancellations or no calls at all saying whether they’re coming or not. My daughter has Sotos Syndrome which means she has development delays such as speech and learning. At school she struggles and is often alone on the playground. As a mother, it is heartbreaking being you want your children to be happy. I’m reaching out to moms who have daughters between the age of 9-11 that would love to come to a birthday party tomorrow from 11-1:30. You don’t have to bring gifts or stay long, just stop by and wish her a happy birthday. As of now, I have two girls coming which is family. She would be so surprised to have other girls just show up. If you are interested please send me a pm and I’ll give you my address. Thank you all for reading a mother’s wish!
The whole community sprang into action! Instead of getting the eight or 10 participants she’d hoped for, hundreds responded and the party had to be moved to a local park.

People donated food, gifts and party-planning services. The mayor even proclaimed Saturday to be “Mackenzie Moretter Day.” […] (Click here to read the rest and see some great photographs from this special day for Mackenzie.)

What a great story about a community turning out to support this little girl. The photographs of Mackenzie show a girl whose joy is clear, whose happiness and delight are just infectious. Good for her mom for putting herself out there for her little girl, and to the community for responding the way it did. I imagine this will be a birthday celebration Mackenzie never forgets.

Speaking of birthdays, yours truly’s birthday is Saturday. As always, I am grateful for the many blessings i have had in my life, and continue to have with family and friends, of which I count you all as members. Thank you for your continued contributions to this little blog, for the community that has formed here, and for sharing who you are with all of us. What a gift that is, and one I do not take for granted, or take lightly. So you all are a great birthday present to me, and I am indeed grateful for you all!

I think this says it all:

I am thankful, indeed…

Ohmygosh, I am abt to throw up my yummy pecan waffles and turkey sausage. Note to self: do not read anything more abt former AG Holder’s leave-taking from the DOJ:

To return more to the theme of this post, here is a powerful story abt the connection a couple shares:

Wishing you a joyous birthday. Celebrate your special day with good people who look at life with the attitude of being full of wonder and happiness instead of the media’s glass of being half empty or completely empty.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thank you so much, Piper – I appreciate it! What lovely birthday wishes!

Hope you are having a good day!

  4. kenoshamarge Says:

Oh my , didn’t know it was your birthday. Wishing you the very best one ever!

  5. foxyladi14 Says:

Happy Happy Birthday!!! Amy, May it be the best one ever. ❤

This is just appalling. How is it only THREE people have been fired from the VA after all the scandal, waste, fraud, and abuse?? Heck, one of them was really fired for taking gifts she shouldn’t have. Our veterans deserve so much better than this, and so do we:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Isn’t it amazing that our elected officials and the media spend so little time talking about this issue and so much time worrying about criminal scumbags who slithered across our borders?

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely – I never cease to be amazed at the issues on which they demand we focus, Marge. Great ‘toon…

Hillary on the brink of collapse

    By Michael Goodwin

A passage from Ernest  Hemingway fits the moment. In “The Sun Also  Rises,” one character asks,  “How did you go bankrupt?” and another responds: “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”

The exchange captures Hillary Clinton’s red alert. She’s been going politically bankrupt for a long time, and now faces the prospect of sudden collapse.

If she’s got a winning defense, she better be quick about it. The ghosts of scandals past are gaining on her and time is not on her side.

Only so many scandals before the dimmest of wits start to get the idea that maybe, just maybe, that Hillary person is corrupt. And perhaps always has been. It seems to be in her DNA. In hubby’s DNA too. He’s just better at “splaining” it away.

How long before people are just tired of this tiresome Hillary.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

One can only hope, Marge, but just yesterday, I got a Hillary appeal from a Facebook friend I “met” through writing. Oh, and it’s a woman. Ugh…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

The “willfully blind” will never see. All we can do is pity them. And distance ourselves less their foolish is catching.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Sigh, sad but true, I think. “None so blind,” and all that. But yeah, I have to hope that at some point, these people, Hillary, Holder, Obama, et al., will get their comeuppance.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I love the way Goodwin points out the hypocrisy of Governor Cuomo:

A reader makes a good point about Gov. Cuomo’s praise for the “courage” of Raul Castro in Cuba. This is the same governor who banned state travel to Indiana during a phony war over gay rights, but happily takes an entourage to an island prison that hasn’t had an election in 56 years.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

NO KIDDING – can you believe that man?? The “press” in Cuba, and the “freedom” of the press are literally some of the WORST in the world, like 164th or something in terms of freedom of the press. What an absolutely telling, and ASSHOLIC, thing to say…

And thanks for the Goodwin piece – he is something, isn’t he?

        • kenoshamarge Says:

I love my twice weekly does of Michael Goodwin. He has a way of making politicians look foolish that is priceless.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That he does – good writing and wit, made even more compelling by his former support of Obama (still don’t understand how so many seemingly intelligent people thought electing someone with relatively little experience or qualifications was a good idea, but there ya have it)…

            • kenoshamarge Says:

Perhaps just found themselves unable to support McCain. I know I found it difficult.

  8. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This morning is just glorious. After a day and night of massive thunderstorms, the sun is shining, it is 66 degrees, there is a lovely breeze, deer are in between where I am on the breezeway and the marsh, and it is just a lovely day.

And since it is Sunday, I want to share this beautiful version of The Prayer sing by Sandi Patty and her husband, Don Peslis (not Josh Groban as the title indicates):

    • kenoshamarge Says:

We are 20 degrees cooler here in Wisconsin but the sun is shining and that always makes for a better day.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That DOES make for a nice day for the sun to be shining! Right this minute, the Blue Jays are talking to each other, and one of the crows is caw-cawing. They have already eaten, but are still around. I also saw a red-bellied woodpecker this morning when I was on my way back in from feeding the birds. AND I get to see Jordan today. Yay!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, I lied – one of the crows is back!

        • kenoshamarge Says:

The crows were scolding me from the big maple tree as I slept a little later than usual and was late with their breakfast.

Jays were yelling for peanuts but they’ll have to beat the crows to them.

Chickadees are swooping and a bright red cardinal and his lovely mate are sitting on one of the feeders and stocking up on sunflower seeds.

Meanwhile 6 squirrels are racing around the backyard and making me laugh. One little one sits on the porch rail looking in the window at the nut bucket and of course I rush to give him/her one. Which brings the others scurrying up the steps for some of the largess.

Isn’t it funny how much people spend to be “entertained” when those of us with our back yard feeders are entertained royally for the price of some seeds and nuts?

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL – it was because the crows and the deer were out already this morning that I hurried up to get them their treats. I usually go out around 7:30, but since there are so many pregnant deer and young does around, they are coming earlier and earlier. Most of the year, they come at sunset, but in the Spring, they come all day long. Love watching them.

And I love watching the birds, too. We have cardinals, woodpeckers, black-capped Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, finches, red-winged black birds, blue jays, occasionally buntings, and then there are the BIG birds in the marsh.

You said it – it is worth every penny to feed them and much better entertainment than most of what’s out there!

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      Here too Amy. 😀

MSNBC Guest: ‘You Don’t Have to Have a White Person Around to Have White Supremacy Play Out’

    By Rick Moran

What makes the academic study of “white supremacy” and “white privilege” so perfect for racialists is that it requires absolutely no parameters of study. There are no standards of proof. There is no way any claims can be vetted in peer-reviewed journals because the “evidence” can be explained by other factors. Anything and everything can be pointed to as being a result of white supremacy or white privilege because of one’s personal worldview — looking at the entire world through a prism of race.

And apparently, you don’t even need a white person around for white supremacy to rear its ugly head.

The idiocy of Harris-Perry and her “guest” points out quite plainly why MSNBC has so few viewers. Even many on the left aren’t this stupid.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I had a completely involuntary response to this, “Oh, Jesus…” When will these people freaking stop with their race-baiting victimology?? I am SO sick of this crap, so sick of the divisiveness this Administration and the likes of Sharpton have wrought on this nation. UGH.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

They will never stop because they have nothing else. And there is that part of the black population, just as there is part of the female population, that just loves to play victim.

  10. foxyladi14 Says:

Race last time, Gender this time.
I wish they would get competence in there sometime. 🙄

  11. kenoshamarge Says:

If you were against the war in Iraq remember that…

  12. kenoshamarge Says:

The World Barack Obama and Eric Holder made

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No doubt abt it. Rep. Elijah Cummings, that schmuck who encouraged the IRS to target a private citizen because he didn’t like her politics, is trying to claim these were mostly out of town folks. The commenters at The Hill were not buying what he was selling:

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Elijah Cummings is a race-baiting POS! Where is the admission that the city of Baltimore is run by blacks for the most part and that a majority of the police are black. Or the FACT that most blacks in any city are killed by other blacks.

Facts mean nothing to these weasels because the facts do not support their position or their rhetoric.

People like Cummings are part of the problem not now and never will be part of the solution.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Couldn’t have said it better myself, Marge. Cummings is one of those sanctimonious law-breakers who refuse to hold people accountable who SHOULD be held accountable while attacking those who ARE trying to affect a solution. Can’t stand him.

  13. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And then there is the Mayor of Baltimore who not only praised the Nation of Islam (!), put said this:

What the hell????? So it is A-OKAY for some people to act violently and it is even SANCTIONED, it seems, by those in power.
