Guest Post By KenoshaMarge: “How Dare We Say What We Think?” *Open Thread*

I am back in the States now, and happy to be with my babies again, who were well cared for in our absence, but happy to see us nonetheless. And happy to see our horse, Jordan, whom I got to see on Sunday. It is amazing how beautiful, healthy, alert, bright, and HANDSOME he still looks for a horse who is in his mid-thirties AND who has EPM (thank heavens the barn manager pays such close attention to him. She caught it early, and he was treated so that it essentially goes into remission).

All that said, this piece by KenoshaMarge is another home run. And I am more than happy to post whatever she writes, or any others of you who have something to say. Thank you SO much, Marge, for this great piece! Now, here’s Marge:

“How Dare We Say What We Think?”

A very small percentage of the population in this country is wagging the whole damn dog. The “transgender” population is about 0.3 percent of the entire population yet what we read and hear from our pathetic media about the Bruce Jenner drama makes you think it an issue dear to the hearts of every American. Newflash to the newsies, it isn’t.

The world is on the brink of we know not what. POTUS lies with impunity because of a biased media. Congress, including the men and women we elected to stop this kind of behavior, are huddled in secret to make bills secret from the public. Bills many of them, Republicans that is, haven’t even read. While these things should be front and center the media is addicted to the latest 3 ring circus, wasting millions of words and dozens of hours of air time on the identity crisis (?) of one narcissistic celebutard.

For me and many other Americans, this whole Jenner nonsense is silly. We don’t happen to think Bruce Jenner worth much/any of our time. In fact most of us, other than the sleazy and voyeuristic find the problems of Bruce Jenner incredibly boring.

We tend to agree completely with this article by Brent Bozell. Brent Bozell – Bowing to the Big Lie of Bruce Jenner

Many people will remain silent about the issue of transgender because to say anything that doesn’t accept the latest  gender/sex reality earns you attacks from the left too numerous to count. Stating an honest opinion has become too much trouble. Isn’t it a shame that in the “land of the free and the home of the brave” it has simply become too much trouble to say what you think lest you be the recipient of a well choreographed attack from the left?

Another take on the same issue: “Jenn[d]er and Other Confusions,” by Clarice Feldman.

I like to think I am an open-minded person but these freak shows are a bridge too far for me. Call him what you like, Bruce Jenner is a man.  A man using all this unwarranted publicity to make a ton of money on his new “reality” show. I don’t “blame” him for that. I blame an idiot media that makes it of more importance than important issues. I also blame the tacky Americans that watch this kind of swill. Get some class people! IMO Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner is just “Honey Boo-boo” in a bustier  and just as interesting. As in not at all.

Do I think him brave? I do not. Crass and greedy with an inordinate desire to be in the spotlight is the way I see it.

The wonderful Jonah Goldberg has a great take on this issue. Jonah does it with his usual common sense and wit, reminding me once again why I am such a Jonah Goldberg fan: “Left Plays Fast and Loose With Issue of Gender Identity.”

People on the left see this issue in a way I can’t begin to understand. Do I want Jenner to be subjected to discrimination because of what he’s said and done and is? Of course not. the left always tries to make every issue an either/or and life is not that simple. I do want him held to the same standards as everyone else. What’s wrong with that?

I also don’t happen to think that just because a man says “I am now a woman” that’s all it takes to welcome him into any public women’s restroom.  Thus far Jenner hadn’t had any body parts removed but even if he did, as Jonah Goldberg pointed out, ” Figuratively speaking, removing the spigot won’t change the rest of the plumbing.”

I believe that we have a right to say what we “think” about him. The idea that some segments of the population are immune to the same treatment as the rest of us is unfair and un-American. I believe that thinking this whole media blitz is disgusting is my right. I believe that I have a right to say I find the whole topic of transgender off-putting, uninteresting and just a little repugnant. If that makes me a bigot, so be it. It happens to be what I think and feel.

Somewhere along the way the left and the media began teaching that people have to agree with them or be considered bigots, racists, sexists, homophobes or whatever.

I have a right to think what I want but I’d rather not think about Jenner at all. Quite honestly if they didn’t try to shut us all up about this and other sex identity issues I wouldn’t care and I certainly wouldn’t be writing hundreds of words about an issue that interests me not at all. It’s the attempt to silence that interests and outrages me.

Bruce Jenner and his Vanity Fair cover and his white bustier, will not receive any applause from me. I’m too busy searching for some actual journalism in the media. It may take me some time. It may take me a lot of time especially if I, like Diogenes, am searching for the truth.

“Do I want Jenner to be subjected to discrimination because of what he’s said and done and is?”

You know what drives me nuts? The guy is wealthy, connected, an award winning athlete, somewhat attractive, on the cover of Vanity Fair…and yet he is allegedly a victim, oppressed, a wounded bird who has suffered from all this discrimination. WTH? It’s like calling the leader of the free world flying over in his private jet a victim of racism. None of these so called celebturds would know the first thing about what it means to be oppressed and yet the left rallies around them as if they were wounded birds and orphans.

In truth they are simply victims of their own affluence and narcissism and there are some sad aspects to that, but nobody did it to them, nobody has persecuted them.

    Welcome home RevAmy.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

You are exactly right – he is not a victim and yet he plays one so well. That’s the liberal way.

IMO the victims are those who are attacked for speaking their mind. That is a victim. Wealthy narcissists like Jenner? Not hardly.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, insanity, and thanks for the great comment to Marge’s excellent post.

I agree completely – Jenner is NOT a victim. Frankly, I just do not understand what all the brouhaha is abt. All he really did was grow out his hair, dress up like a woman, have some facial surgery, breast surgery, and take hormones – he is still genetically and physically MALE ( How does this make him courageous??? He has all the money in the WORLD, apparently has a lot of support, and is getting more publicity than he EVER could have paid to get. It is just astonishing to me.

Even more is that he was awarded the ESPY Award for Courage. Give me a BREAK. Seriously?!?! When there was a university basketball player with a BRAIN TUMOR playing this past year? Oh, she subsequently lost her life to that cancer. But yeah, Jenner is SO courageous. Please.

This article really nails it, I think, and raises a lot of good issues abt what makes a woman:

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, and I don’t mean to sound heartless or anything, and what Jenner has done is certainly his/her choice. I don’t care what one decides to do with their own body. But as Davis points out, this has been made EVERYONE’S business by Jenner putting him/herself on Vanity Fair’s cover and having the big interview with Sawyer. (Btw, my partner is convinced that is why Jenner won the ESPY award – in exchange for the interview since ABC owns ESPN.)

But while Jenner is all most news outlets were discussing, there were actually some important events going on in the world. Oh well – Jenner’s designer dress was surely more important. Not.

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

Of course I could always go to the NYT and read about Senator and Mrs. Rubio’s traffic tickets. That’s of national interest I’m sure. Not.

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

Branco cartoon that lampoons Obama to a tee.

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      nailed it

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, SNAP!!!! Love it, Marge! That really sums it up, doesn’t it? WOW…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Branco is a genius! He had several really great cartoons today and I had a hard time deciding which one to share first.

This one is a fantastic comment on the situation in Baltimore IMO.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You are so right – I got this a few minutes ago in my email alerts from LI. It is spot on. Thanks for posting it!

  4. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Are you kidding me with this? Farrakhan slamming obama for calling thugs in Baltimore thugs, claiming blacks there are so put upon – you know – with their majority of citizens, with their mayor, with the majority of their City Council, with their State’s Attorney, and with their spending more money on educating each student than almost anywhere else in the country. WOW. Spare me:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Holy moley! Well, Obama did reiterate as you noted that there are no plans, though I just saw on Special Report that the Pentagon takes umbrage with Obama claiming there are no plans, saying they have sent him a BUNCH of them, and he has CHOSEN not to do anything.

That is a big, big difference.

      Thanks for the link!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Proving once again that if Obama’s lips are moving – he’s lying.

Although I think in some cases it isn’t so much “lying” as he’s just delusional. Isn’t that a lovely thought about the leader of “our” country.

  10. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So, Marge, of course they were talking abt Caitlyn Jenner today on The Five. Melissa Francis nailed it when she said Jenner was a marketing GENIUS, out-marketing his wife in a big way. And, now he has his OWN reality show, thank you very much, and won’t have to share it with any one else. Uh, yeah…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I stopped watching “The Five” some time ago. Too many discussions like the one you reference above.

Plus after the one program where Dana Perino and Kimberly Guilfoyle were drooling over George Clooney I lost all respect for them.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I can appreciate that. I think, for KG, at least, it is because she knows him personally.

As for Francis, I thought what she was saying was right along the same lines as what we had been saying – that this is a marketing boondoggle for Jenner, and Jenner has played this perfectly. As in, Jenner has used the media in a big way, and is reaping major rewards for it financially.

  11. HELENK3 Says:

a feel good story about the past and the present

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a great story! I have been to the USS Yorktown a number of times – it is an amazing piece of our history.

Thank you for this incredibly story. That these boys were so involved with this man, wanted to hear his stories, were so enamored of him and what he did was just beautiful…

  12. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Here’s another good article on the whole Jenner thing revolving around a “joke” Clint Eastwood told for an awards show that will be cut because – well, just because, you transgenderist! Ahem. Here’s the story:

  13. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So abt this pool party thing – BizpacReview has two good articles abt it. What those cellphone videos DON’T show is everything leading UP to the moment captured on video (and we have already heard from one witness, who refused to be shown on camera, that the young woman was repeatedly ordered to stay where she was and was going to be handcuffed, yet she kept resisting arrest. Gee, funny how that isn’t the lead.):

And Megyn Kelly takes it on, too:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

According to what I’ve read a bunch of thugs invaded a semi-private pool party by climbing over a fence, proceeded to drink and smoke pot. When the residents of the community called the police it somehow became all about those evil racist cops.

However one article I read had quotes from a black resident which states it wasn’t about race. Okay, it’s a good think it was a black resident because we know all those white residents are racists and liars.

This crap infuriates me. The media drums up a racial issue and large numbers of blacks believe it in spite of actual evidence to the contrary. If they didn’t how could they believe that they are the “victims” of those terrible racist cops?

And horror of horrors a police officer drew his weapon. Did he shoot someone? Was anyone injured? So in the midst of what was shaping up to be a riot he drew his weapon. Good for him. Maybe that’s all that kept him from being attacked as so many police officers have been.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Exactly, Marge – there was fighting, there were way too many people there, with calls apparently going out on Twitter for people to show up, all of that. And yeah, the quote from the black resident in the BixPacReview article says it all – that the media has been had, and this was NOT abt race.

I can’t remember the guy’s name who was subbing in for Greg Gutfeld yesterday, but he said when someone charges a police officer who is in the process of handcuffing someone, hell yes they are going to draw their weapon! Those two guys were larger than the police officer, after all.

What people continue to forget is that these things happen so quickly, there is no way to gauge what is going on just from one snippet of the event, that police are trained to do things a certain way (a former police officer said this morning that was NOT excessive force), and they are people, too. Things can change in a SECOND, and it can mean the difference between life and death for the officer.

But this insistent battle cry of racism over every single little thing is beyond tiresome.

        • kenoshamarge Says:

For me once someone starts saying “racism” I lose all interest in the “victims”. I don’t care anymore. I once cared. When you are called names, when truth is ignored and when thugs rule our streets and a corrupt media cheers them on, I confess I have stopped caring what happens to most blacks.

I have enormous respect for the likes of Thomas Sowell, Walter Russell Mead, Ben Carson, Tim Scott and a host of other black men and women who made something of themselves without whining and blaming. For the whiners and blamers? I just don’t care what happens to them.

          • HELENK3 Says:

I sing this a lot lately

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

So right there with you, Marge. That is exactly how I feel. The marches, the demands for people to be fired, all with NO facts taken into consideration, demonstrates that mob rule is becoming more the norm than the exception.

And yeah, I am sick to death of RACISM!!!!!! always being called out. It has gotten to be absurd.

            ROTFL – love it, Helen!!

  14. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This is the best rake on the whole McKinney event I have seen yet and makes clear that the response was not some crazy power trip by the police:
