A Kelly Smackdown, And A Heartwarming Update on Caitlyn *Weekend Open Thread*

Generally, I try and stay away from politics on the weekend just because I know I need a break from them, and assume others might want a break, too. But I saw a video of Megyn Kelly taking it to the Democratic radio host, Richard Fowler, that is just too good not to show here. The point of the segment was the silence of the Obama Administration on the Kate Steinle murder and recent funeral. Kelly is, in short, AWESOME (h/tBizPacReview):

If you prefer not to have to hear Fowler blather on with his usual Democratic talking points no matter the question, a feeling I completely understand believe-you-me, here is some of the exchange. From BizPacReview:

[…] Kelly observed that the president was only too willing to speak out on the Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Freddie Gray killings, but was noticeably silent on Steinle, who was killed by an illegal immigrant who’d been deported five times and had seven felony convictions.

“When asked repeatedly this week to speak to this case, White House spokesman Josh Earnest declined to weigh in, other than to refer folks to the Department of Homeland Security,” Kelly said. “A stark contrast to what we saw after Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson [Missouri], a man we now know was attacking a police officer at the time of his death.”

Liberal talk show host Richard Fowler made the ridiculous claim that the woman would be alive today if Congress had passed immigration reform legislation.

“Stop that! Stop that! Stop that! Answer my question please,” Kelly said. “Give an answer! You can’t! … There’s no excuse for it! He picks and chooses the victims he wants to highlight. And apparently, this victim wasn’t deemed worthy.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Kelly wasn’t done since Fowler wasn’t done, and laid into him about making unsupported claims and dancing around the question.

Kelly’s question was a good one: where the hell is Obama after this tragic death of a beautiful young American citizen at the hands of an illegal alien who had committed a number of crimes? Why has he not spoken out loudly about what happened to her? Why has he not dispatched the FBI, DOJ, or any officials to HER funeral??

I think we all know why, and what it says about this President and his ideology ain’t pretty. Good for Kelly for hammering this point home, along with Obama’s spokesweasel blaming REPUBLICANS for Steinle’s death. That takes a whole helluva lot of gall, and not a little bit of duplicity…

One a much lighter note as befits the Weekend Post, it is time for the Caitlyn update. And I am most definitely not referring to Jenner. Rather, I am referring to the adorable Pit Bull Mix who was so brutalized a couple of months ago. Not only has she made a miraculous physical recovery, but her overall recovery is going so well, she is going to be featured in the next Charleston Animal Society Firefighters’ Calendar to support Toby’s Fund, the fund that pays for medical treatment for abused animals.

And it seems Caitlyn has a crush on one of the Firefighters, Joshua Allen, the one who appears with her in the calendar. That according to Caroline Eller who coordinates this event and who received credit for the following photo:

Caitlyn and Joshua Allen

Look how happy she looks! Joshua too, for that matter. I think this crush thing goes both ways, especially when you hear him talk about Caitlyn as he does in the video below:

Isn’t it wonderful to see her running around with such a joyous look on her face? And to hear Allen talk about her, the time they spent together, and the importance of what the sales of this calendar enable. It is important, that is for sure. Caroline Eller has more to say about all of this. From HuffPost:

[…] “I do have a fun job, don’t I?” says Charleston Animal Society’s Caroline Eller, who organized the calendar and took some of its especially memorable behind-the-scenes shots.

Eller says that on top of raising much-needed funds — medical care costs the Charleston Animal Society some $500,000 per year — she hopes that this calendar encourages folks to adopt their next pet.

“I’m a firm believer that an animal knows they have been rescued,” she says. “I hope these images show the true bond between a rescue and their rescuer.” […] (Click here to read the rest, which includes a very nice interview with Joshua and Caroline, as well as more photos of firefighters. You’re welcome!)

It is truly inspiring to see Caitlyn do so well, to see her be a part of this important fundraiser, and to see the genuine care these firefighters have to this great cause. It speaks volumes, and all of it is GOOD.

Anyway, that’s it for me for the weekend. There is tons to talk about, I know, so please feel free to discuss whatever, or just post videos of cats, or something. Whatever you want.

Oh, and if you have some time, I highly recommend this very good documentary by HRTV, “The Ponies Of Chincoteacgue.” It is a 24 minute documentary, and just a wonderful view of the annual swim for Assateague to Chincoteague. I bet it will make you want to read, “Misty of Chincoteague,” again, or maybe even for the first time. Heck, at our age, it might FEEL like the first time – bonus!

And since I ended up talking about horses (shocker), I will leave you with this Templeton Thompson piece, “From These Hills”:

Have a great weekend, friends!

I was rather disappointed in Megan Kelly. She didn’t try very hard to stop the liberal POS from his filibustering and at the end she called it a “good” debate. I don’t think so. I think she gave the liberal POS a platform to spout his propaganda and make excuses for the Dems and lay the blame back on the GOP. Disgusting. So long as the left does this and gets away with it they can spew their crap endlessly. I am very disappointed in Megan. She can, and should do better to stop this kind of crap. Saying “stop, stop” while he continues to talk over her is pathetic.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I appreciate your take on this, Marge. I thought Kelly was pretty angry with him and tried to stop him from talking NUMEROUS times because he was doing exactly that – spouting party platform talking points instead of answering her question. Honestly, when people like that are on, they make the Dems look REALLY bad – rude, condescending, and unthinking as they regurgitate talking points rather than actually answer the questions that are asked.

So, yeah – she seemed pretty irritated with him to me, and forcefully told him to stop it and answer the question already. I reckon we just see it differently! 🙂

Straight out of the park on both topics! It is truly a rare privilege to see someone–ESPECIALLY a media person!–speak out against obfuscation, equivocation, fabrication and the rampant corruption–financial, legal & spiritual–‘that pervades our society.
And our beloved Caitlyn! Thank you so much for this joyous update. Having adopted, rescued and creating a retirement home for breeding stock, I can well attest to the fact that, without question, the four footers we bring into our lives through those means are indeed grateful. Their gratitude & devotion are palpable to the point of tears. Most of my beloveds come to me through any of the means above mentioned, and are my greatest joy because they truly appreciate the love, peace, health & safety i give them. My devotion to supporting the breed commits me to a purebred puppy every 10 or 15 years though, and it is also good to be able to raise them from puppyhood in a safe, loving home with an easy life of fun & rest, suffering no trauma, hunger or fear. They love their safe happy home & their pack with their ‘Mimi,’ but having been “born to the purple,” they are blessedly clueless about what so many dogs suffer & endure out there in the other world. Again, please do keep us posted on Caitlyn & let us know if she’s going to her Forever Home with her soecial firefighter!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, thedametruth! As I noted above, I thought Kelly was very forceful with Richard – and really showed him to be the pompous jackalope he is (IMO, that is).

And GOOD ON YOU for running a retirement home for rescued breeding stock! That is fantastic! What kind of dogs are they, or is it a variety? Regardless, feel free to list them! (All of our animals, including our horse, are adopted rescues, too. Where our horse, Jordan, lives is an Old Horses’ Home. The woman who cares for him is devoted to him – actually, he is OBSESSED with him, and as a result, has caught some health issues very early on, which has made his life even better. He is in his mid-30’s, but you would never know it!)

Anyway – that is just wonderful that you do that. I am in awe!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh – and so glad you like the story of Caitlyn and the Firefighter! From what I gather, it seems the medical foster family she has now will probably end up adopting her. She is living the life now, and is a happy girl. 🙂

  4. foxyladi14 Says:

Too late it has already killed it’s self. 😡

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Ain’t much of a party if one gasbag can “kill” your party. I think it’s more the members of the party that ignore the voters and go their own damn way that are “killing” the party. And good for the voters who feel that way. On the left they seem to forgive the corruption, lies, and incompetence. Good for the right if they don’t!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No kidding. They are hurting themselves by rolling over for the Dems and Obama, not because of Trump.

  5. foxyladi14 Says:

    Right!!!! 😀

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Exactly! And Donald Trump may voice his opinions in a clumsy way but more people agree with him than with the lefties and the gutless GOP.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

YES – it makes me NUTS when people like Geraldo go on and on abt how they are “law-abiding” and gee, just want to be reunited with their family (then move back to your country of origin), and poo-poohs that they are here ILLEGALLY. They are already criminals, each and every one of them, for not coming in the RIGHT way. This move to conflate “immigrant” and “illegal alien” makes me nuts. As does the latter thinking they have the right to DEMAND citizenship and benefits here. Uh, yeah, no – you don’t…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Someone needs to get Geraldo a copy of English for Dummies. If you are here “illegally” then you are by definition NOT law-abiding. What kind of muddled thinker even says such nonsense? I don’t like Geraldo anyway, something about him has always just rubbed me the wrong way, and this sure as hell isn’t changing my mind. And like you this kind of contempt for rational thinking just makes me nuts!

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, now THERE’S a thought. Of course, HE claims to be the “voice of reason” on Fox and Friends, and presumably, The Five, too (he has ruined that show. Can’t believe I actually miss Juan Williams). He is driven by ratchet emotionalism and nothing more. It is beyond irritating.

And speaking of being driven nuts, I am having a discussion on Facebook with my Obot sister. A friend had mentioned the story abt a man who had killed 7 people, one of whom was his cousin, in NJ and PA (http://www.ksl.com/?nid=157&sid=35425465#QJ3QI5hpt4vfY5wQ.01). He is 22 and black. I asked why there wasn’t a ton of press abt him. She said ABC News, Buzzfeed, and the Time Picayune had it. As if somehow, that was in any way, shape, or FORM, the same kind of wall-to-wall coverage we have seen when others have been killed. She said that it is because they weren’t “noteworthy.”

“Noteworthy”?? Like a drug dealer/drug user? Or a strong arm robber who attacked a police officer?? Or how abt the NAVY YARD shooter who killed 12 people?!

Ugh. The hoops people go through to justify the media circuses and protect the political machinations of the Dems is astonishing.

  6. foxyladi14 Says:

    I told you. 👿

  7. foxyladi14 Says:

    Rolling my eyes here!!! 🙄

  8. lyn Says:

    I despise Obama.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Right there with ya pal! I despise him, all he stands for, the idiots that support him and the corrupt media that covers and lies for him. The endless corruption from media and government is disgusting.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I concur. It is truly astonishing what has happened under him. Including this latest bit of lunacy abt the – wait for it – fleur de lis: http://dailycaller.com/2015/07/10/now-the-symbol-of-new-orleans-is-considered-racist/

Good. GRIEF. There is slavery still going on in the world, over 30 million people, in fact. So why are people focusing on something from 800 years ago??

And to make one more comment abt the Confederate Flag: my big problem with how this all came down is it seemed SO orchestrated. Now you have the Memphis Council wanting to exhume a Confederate general and his wife, petitions to change highways named for leading Confederates, and on it goes. It has just become sheer lunacy. And Obama has jumped on this bandwagon, too, which automatically makes it suspect to me. If people are focused on things like flags and highways, they aren’t paying attention to the BIG issues.

    • foxyladi14 Says:

A lot of us do. 😡

  9. kenoshamarge Says:

David Harsanyi nails the libs on their lawlessness. And the gutless members of the GOP that do nothing about it.

Sanctuary Cities Represent The Worst Kind Of Liberal Lawlessness

The debate over sanctuary cities is about far more than immigration; it’s about who has to obey the law and who doesn’t.

So let me get this straight: America is thrown into an overwrought political debate about the Confederate battle flag—a relic that has absolutely nothing to do with the shooting in Charleston—but is unwilling to engage in a conversation about the deliberate disregard of federal law that directly leads to the murder of at least one young woman?

That’s basically where we stand. After sending mixed signals, The Hill reports that Democrats will be making a concerted effort to defend San Francisco’s sanctuary laws and killing of Kathryn Steinle along the city’s famous waterfront. Most Republicans will avoid the matter altogether for the sake of political expediency. Soon enough, I imagine, it’ll be xenophobic to bring it up at all. One of these conversations, after all, is risk-free, jammed with self-satisfying preening about the right sort of evils. The other, morally complex—especially for the supporters of immigration reform (like myself)—and fraught with electoral consequences.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

YES!! That is precisely the problem. Your cartoons have been nailing it, btw. It is just astonishing this picking and choosing of laws, blaming the flag caught in one photograph of a deranged racist while ignoring that he was burning the American flag, or wearing a Gold’s Gym shirt, or any other things to grab onto rather than focusing on the person who did the killing. It is just STUPID.

And the Reps are just as much to blame for letting these sanctuary cities go for so long…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Damn straight the Rep are just as much to blame! They cower in a corner for fear they might say something that the media can turn into a 3 ring circus. If they don’t know by now that their cowardice has gotten them no where they will never learn.

Do they honestly believe that their pandering to the Hispanic community will make them “like” them or vote for them? Hispanic voters that vote in favor of the invasion of our country by illegals will never vote for anyone of character, decency or honesty. They are racists who see only people of their own ethnicity and give them a pass to break the law.

Then they whine when the criminals in their communities prey on them. Did they really think the Hispanic criminals would only prey on whitey?

Will they just ignore the violence in their communities like the black voters who only get outraged when a white kills a black? All those hundreds, thousands of blacks killed by other black prove beyond any reasonable doubt that “black lives don’t matter.” Only black lives taken by whites that can be used to race bait matter. And that’s the real crime.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is ridiculous for them to pander like they are. The Hispanics who believe in law, order, decency, and all of that will vote for Republicans anyway. The ones who think they should be able to demand citizenship, benefits, etc., even while being here illegally, who criticize the US left and right, they will vote for the Dems.

The Reps really need to get a damn spine.

And the cartoon is absolutely spot on.

  10. kenoshamarge Says:

Oops, that wasn’t the cartoon I mean to post. Although its a good one and worth repeating. Here’s a good one from Glenn McCoy skewering the media. One of MY favorite targets.

Suzy and I had a discussion recently abt how the Democratic Party now is NOT the Democratic Party it used to be when I was a member (that is, I didn’t leave it, it left me). Seems Dem. 17. kenoshamarge Says:

Donald Trump may well be a gasbag and a clown and all the other things the left and much of the right has been calling him. I am no Donald fan. But the way he takes on the media and all the mealy-mouthed pols is resonating with many of the voters. They are tired of the PC candidates and the way they are afraid to talk out side of focus group tested talking points.

And CNN evidently just cannot get enough of candidate Trump:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

He is certainly getting a lot of air time, isn’t he? Even Fiorina said that he is tapping into the anger a lot of Americans have. No kidding many of us are angry. Regardless of what one thinks of him, he is saying things many people have wanted someone in power to say.

IOW, I concur with your assessment!

  18. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And here is another piece on the whole Confederate Flag thing. This woman is basically saying what some others of us have said abt the dangers of obliterating history. The difference with her is that she is a black Democrat Mayor in Texas (h/t Facebook friend): http://www.bizpacreview.com/2015/07/12/a-black-democrat-mayor-takes-a-stand-against-removing-confederate-flags-heres-why-223829

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, for heaven’s sake. What a STUPID thing to say. WOW. They really are desperate to keep ginning up the race card, aren’t they?

    • kenoshamarge Says:

It’s a good thing so many Dem voters/supporters are so ill-educated and foolish. Otherwise they would be ashamed to be connected to such a bunch of doofuses. Or is that doofi?

Thanks for posting this. I saw it yesterday and thought it was such a good thing that Walker accomplished this. Tenure is an old concept that clearly needs to be let go.

And this is also timely because the post I will be putting up later has to deal with Gov. Walker. 🙂

Hillary Clinton told CNN she was never subpoenaed to testify on Benghazi. One hour later, House Republicans produced the subpoena they sent her to testify about Benghazi. Democrats won the argument, saying it’s just like Republicans to make fun of a woman who suffered a head injury.

Old. old joke – but it fits so very well. How can you tell when Hillary is lying…

Oh, for heaven’s sake. What is WRONG with this woman? She ties the hands of the Police, then fires the Chief because homicides increase after she tied their hands. WTH did she THINK would happen after she shut them down the way she did?

And now this. She is seriously messed up this woman, and it speaks VOLUMES abt Baltimore that they elected her.
