Major Cuteness, Heartwarming Call, More Cuteness, And One More Heroic Act *Weekend Open Thread*

The weekend is here, and with it a chance to step back from the atrocious Planned Parenthood goings on and the response of the government going not after THEM, but those who exposed them (h/t KenoshaMarge); yet another deadly attack at a movie theater; the sheer disrespect of elected officials falling asleep – FALLING ASLEEP – during the testimony of a mother who lost her son to an illegal immigrant and others; Hillary’s petulant responses to the IGs who are clamoring for an investigation; and so much more lunacy out of DC. Whew, exhausting.

It is difficult to keep up with it all, I know, but at least for now, it is time for a break.

And so, I have some stories to give you a break from it all. First off, via Huffington Post, is a trio of baby hedgehogs. Now, that would be cute enough all on its own, but wait – there is more:

Aren’t they ADORABLE? And so cute when they sneeze! As a total bonus, you can help this organization just by subscribing to their Youtube channel.

Now, you would have to live in a cave to not have heard of the smash Disney movie, “Frozen>” The voice of one of the main characters, Anna, was provided by Kristen Bell. And frankly, I never got why all the hoopla was about Elsa since Anna was the dominant character throughout the movie. And I have a niece who looks just like her (except with brown eyes instead of blue). But I digress.

I’ll let the Daily Mail tell the story:

[…] Kristen Bell surprised six-year-old cancer patient Avery Huffman, a Frozen superfan, with an in-character voicemail showing her support.

The 35-year-old actress reprised her role as Princess Anna as she passed along an encouraging message to the young girl and even made her an honorary Princess of Arendelle.

In June, Avery was diagnosed with a rare form of inoperable brain cancer – DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).

And thanks to a friend of the family, Bell was notified about Avery’s fondness for Frozen and sent the young girl the heartfelt message. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Here is the message from “Anna”:

The sheer delight and joy on this little girl’s face is so touching. Good on Bell for calling, and for helping to make these memories for the parents. I cannot imagine how hard this is for them, but to see that joy on Avery’s face must mean so much…

One more animal story for you, and that has to do with J50, a young Orca. From HuffPo: J50

Afternoon: Six-month-old miracle baby J50 had energy to burn, breaching more than 60 times, often in belly flop form like this. Look carefully and you’ll see the rake marks on her back and at the base of her dorsal fin. Researchers believe she had a difficult birth and was likely pulled out of her mother, Slick (J16) by another whale, most likely Slick’s daughter, Alki (J36).

Isn’t that amazing? Breaching over SIXTY times?! Wow! I have been on whale watches before, and to see a whale do this once or twice is magical, but over SIX+TY times??? That is just astonishing. Here is a bit more from the story that might explain her joie de vivre:

“Maybe the other members of her family realize how precious she is, and how close she came to never making it into this world,” Harris told Global News. “Perhaps with all of this love surrounding her, this baby orca is just bursting with happiness.” […] (Click here to read the rest and see more photos.)

I can imagine how very exciting this was for all involved to witness such a thing. Having watched a LARGE pod of Orcas while on our cruise in Alaska a couple of years ago, as well as having seen Humpbacks on previous watches, it is a magnificent sight to see these majestic creatures. But this – this was something extra-special.

Finally, for one more heroic act this week, I have to share what a group of folks did in Dallas, TX. Their combined efforts to help a motorcyclist were Herculean:

Isn’t that incredible? Their quick action likely saved this woman from more severe injuries. What Good Samaritans they all were. How lucky we are to have people like that in our midst…

Okay, my friends – it is your turn. This is the Weekend Open Thread.

    This is my goal:

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

    Here’s an idea:

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

Not cute but I laughed. But then I’m a little strange.

  4. kenoshamarge Says:

Okay just this one and then I’ll stop.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL – that is too funny!

And you need not stop – these are great!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

After the week we’ve had and after getting so obsessed with Planned Parenthood, I still am by the way, I needed some laughs. And I found them. I feel better. And Lou said it was nice to hear me laugh again. Didn’t realize it had been a while. That’s something to work on. The world won’t be a better place if we forget to laugh and smile and enjoy life. We can still fight evil. We can rest a bit and then take up the cudgels again renewed and refreshed. Or at least that’s the plan.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It has been quite the week. I am still focused on Planned Parenthood, too, especially given the way Dems are acting abt it all.

But I am glad that you are laughing again. In case you didn’t see this one at my post yesterday, I wanted to move it forward here (a Facebook friend had it):

    • foxyladi14 Says:

      More more 😀

Marge, since you are obsessed with the PPF scandal, I thought you would appreciate this cartoon that comes via Daily Signal:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I do appreciate the cartoon. I think cartoonist provide a great service in that people that don’t like being “preached” to will look at a cartoon and not feel they’ve been “preached” at. And the cartoonist are covering themselves with glory with the Planned Parenthood issue. The Conservative cartoonists that is. The left in all its iterations if showing it’s true colors and they aren’t pretty!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

What a great way to look at it, Marge. Yes, you are so right – they can say a lot without sounding “preachy.” I am glad so many cartoonists are covering this, and so poignantly, too…

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yet another reason to really like Gov. Walker:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I read about this earlier. I know the despicable biased media will make this all about politics. I think it shows that under this politician there still lives a good and decent man. Makes me proud I voted for him 3 times. Good for Walker!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I figured you probably had, but it bears repeating. It really shows what kind of man he is, and where his priorities lie. It says so much abt him that he is doing this – and so much abt those who would politicize this.

A friend at Facebook said in response to my posting it that Obama could learn a LOT abt being compassionate and doing the right thing from Walker. No kidding!

Love the cartoon, and you SHOULD be proud of voting for him! 🙂

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

Stole this from John Frank at NQ – thought it worth stealing.

  8. kenoshamarge Says:

I call me tenacious – others say stubborn. Either way I am determined to get that Mother Teresa image to show. I said I gave up – I lied. Could I have a future in politics?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFLMAO – well, you would have MY vote any day of the week! Oh, wait – I’d have to become a Democrat again to do that. Ahem. (Did you see the article abt the woman CONVICTED of voter fraud getting a hero’s welcome at a Dem. event recently? Uh, yeah:

Anyway – that is a GREAT saying. Thank you for that. And thanks for sticking with it!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Isn’t it amazing that the Dems say there is no voter fraud and yet when they find it in their party, they applaud it.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It truly is, Marge. There have been so many instances of it – all on their side, I might add – so of course, they want to downplay it and claim that Reps are just racist for wanting Voter ID. But then, they celebrate those who have managed to engage in it successfully, thus helping sway the vote. No doubt, they will have a monument to her soon…

  9. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This story had me in tears. It is about loss and love, between a woman and a chimpanzee as they sympathize over losing a child (h/t Facebook friend):

  10. kenoshamarge Says:

A very good article by Jonah Goldberg – my favorite little stud muffin. ♥ ; ) Actually it’s a toss up between Jonah and Stephen Hayes. I’ve grown so fickle in my old age.

Why Blames the Right for Everything

From forcing nuns to pay for birth control to suggesting at the Supreme Court that churches might lose their tax-exempt status if they refuse to officiate gay weddings, the Obama administration seems keen on imposing its vision on everyone.

Perhaps this attitude toward Americans the president once described as bitter clingers explains why pollsters say we’re more polarized than ever.

Of course, listening to Obama and his defenders, the polarization is all one-sided: The president’s opponents are dogmatic ideologues and racists — even the ones who voted for him in 2008 and then came to their senses in 2012.

That strikes me as delusional nonsense, a transparent and pathetic attempt to put all of the blame for the president’s failure to fulfill his mission on others.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I can understand that fickleness though. They are both so smart, so articulate, and so thoughtful. And with Stephen, you also have a Native Son, so I can appreciate that!

And thank you so much for this Goldberg column. I hadn’t seen it yet. He really sums up the lunacy of placing ALL the blame on the Right. Poor little Obama – if it weren’t for all the Haters, huh? Sheesh.

      Thanks for this!

  11. kenoshamarge Says:

  12. piper Says:

Thanks for all the cartoons – we all need laughter on a daily basis to survive the storm outside.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

You are so welcome piper. I know that if I don’t get a laugh or two I will, as you so aptly put it, not survive the storm outside”.

I think sometimes that my search for cartoons, and the finding of really good ones, keeps me sane in an insane world. I like to share because what is better than shared laughter?

  13. kenoshamarge Says:

One last cartoon before I go fall asleep in front of the television set:

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROTFLMAO – good one! And thank you, Marge. Like Piper, I very much appreciate the humor you bring here. Laughter, and the camaraderie here, helps so much with all of the insanity going on…

  14. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

To go along with the animal aspect of this post, check out this foal’s absolutely unbelievable markings:

  15. kenoshamarge Says:

Only in my dreams do people like Hillary Clinton pay the penalty for their actions that the rest of us do. But I can still dream.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

AHAHAHAHA – that’s a good one! And check out who Michael Goodwin thinks is the insider who leaked info abt the emails:

      • kenoshamarge Says:

The Night Stalker? That would be my guess too. But she wouldn’t do it, as Goodwin says, without Obama’s consent. Bill and Hill maybe weren’t so smart when they helped Obama back in 2012. They probably made some deal with him that he would back her for 2016. Did they learn nothing from his lies? Or are liars like Hillary convinced that they are smarter and can tell when another liar is lying. Either way, she’s getting punked by the White House. And perhaps Obama wouldn’t have even still been residing there without Bill’s help at the 2012 Dem Convention. Or the angst they must be feeling!

Val Jar should remember as she plays her little power games that while Obama will always be “Mr. President” 😦 , she will soon be nothing but an ex presidential advisor. She’s rich and she’s arrogant but she will soon be just another in a large crowd.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL at “Night Stalker” – good one for ValJar.

And no doubt she doesn’t do anything without informing Obama that she is GOING to do it.

I agree that the Clintons were foolish in thinking Obama could be trusted in ANY way, and that he would stand by any agreement he made with them. You’d think they would be smarter than that…

  16. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And to go along with this theme – Hillary emails – Branco does it again:

  17. kenoshamarge Says:

Hadn’t seen this one yet – it’s perfect! I cannot get over the genius of Branco. He manages such perfect commentary in one cartoon!
