Benghazi Hearing Today *Open Thread*

by

Thanks to Marge for another great post for this long-awaited hearing!

After all the hype, hoopla and spin, today is the day Hillary Clinton is to testify before the House Select Committee on Benghazi. The cartoon that I started this post with expresses my opinion about Hillary Clinton perfectly. Another reason I love cartoons.

Thanks to two idiots in his own party, Rep. McCarthy and Rep. Hanna, Trey Gowdy will be the  person who has to answer for his actions not the reprehensible, corrupt and dishonest Clinton.

A man of integrity will be scrutinized for everything he says and does and be blamed for every word and action by other members of his party. While she, the scumbag POS will sit smugly knowing the media will turn everything to her advantage and hide as much of the truth about her as possible.  To such depths have we sunk in this country.

Media has worked tirelessly over the past week or so to portray the Select Committee as a partisan witch hunt. Actually as the image at the right side says, they didn’t need to hunt out the witch, they knew exactly where she was all the time.

Modern media, for the most part, doesn’t seem to comprehend it’s job – they are supposed to be the public’s watch dog not the Clinton’s/Obama’s/liberal lap dogs. It appears that as they were and are Obama’s lap dogs so they will be Hillary’s. They don’t “like” her as much but what the hell, she’s liberal of sorts so she’ll do better than any honest or decent member of the GOP. Some logic. Some moral compass. Some watch dogs.

On another topic, Joe and Webb are out of the Dem running. Cartoonists were seen to be moved to tears when Joe decided not to run. They try not to think of all the material he would have given them once he hit the campaign trail.

That leaves two old farts and a long shot wannabe. Since Bernie has already taken a bullet for Hillary, at the “debates” no less, that leaves Hillary and O’Malley. Not to sound too cynical, but I don’t like O’Malley’s chances. But then I don’t like O’Malley either.

One funny thing is that although O’Malley hasn’t a snowball’s chance of taking down Hillary, he and his incessant whining about more debates may put a dent in DWS. And that would be one of the few public services he’s ever done for his country. Go figure.

The hearing begin in a few hours and I am praying that Trey can hold it all together and make the facts speak for themselves. We know the media is not an honest broker and we know Hillary Clinton is a liar. Those are the things we know right now. Let’s see what else we know at the end of the day.

And to end with one of A.F. Branco’s wonderful cartoons from Legal Insurrection, thanks for the tip from the Rev,

Hillary Cackling

Elijah Cummings has already made me nuts, beginning with his claim that this Committee was designed to go after Clinton to drive down her poll numbers long before she ever declared she was RUNNING. Ugh.

I think it was Chris Stirewalt who said if the Reps were smart, they would give all their time to Gowdy. But no…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

      Chairman Gowdy’s Opening Statement

      http://benghazi.house.gov/news/press-releases/chairman-gowdys-opening-statement

    • mcnorman Says:

That man is gross. If he were defending a hoodlum from black lives matter I could understand all of the pandering, but this?

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Cummings is a prime example of what happens when you vote based on race. The only reason AA vote for him is because of his color. He’s done nothing but pillage since he entered congress.

Now the left wants to do the same with gender. The vagina voters will vote for Hillary no matter how corrupt she is, no matter how much she lies, and no matter how unworthy she is. Thus proving, at least to me, that they are no better than she is.

The moral bankruptcy of this country frightens me more than the looming national debt. Without the first there is no one to care about the second.

        • mcnorman Says:

He’s Sheila Jackson’s counterpart. Gross, highly negligent and most certainly ignorant people kenosha. I am a hispanic that has never relied on that affirmative action helping hand. I was taught that barriers are in place for reasons. Either you know what you are doing or not. These to are pathetic excuses for leaders. They glorify victimhood. I also am saddened by the decay that has taken place in this country in the last few decades.

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

I would like to see Gowdy do all the questioning too. He is the most talented at it. However, remember that he chose the Republicans on the committee and starting with him they include:

Gowdy who is a former federal and local prosecutor.

Roby is chair of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, and led that body’s investigations into military activities during the events in Benghazi. She is a former lawyer.

Roskam was chief deputy Republican whip when the committee was formed, making him the fourth-ranking House Republican behind Boehner.

Westmoreland is a member of the House Intelligence Committee.

Brooks is a former U.S. attorney.

    Jordan has a law degree.

    Pompeo is a former lawyer.

So while the others may not be as talented as Gowdy, they aren’t slouches either. I don’t think he would have chosen them if they were. But then I don’t think he expected McCarthy and Hanna to stick knives in his back either.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Excellent point, Marge. No, none of those folks are slouches by a long shot. I like Roby, Jordan, and Roskam quite a bit anyway (don’t know as much abt the others, though I assume Westmoreland is related to Gen. Westmoreland). Gowdy just has such a way with words it would be informative and interesting to hear what he has to say.

Unfortunately, I missed his questioning of Clinton. I am hoping to catch it on his site, or on Youtube.

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

While I thought the entire opening statement by Trey Gowdy was wonderful the last paragraph was the most powerful of all. His statement in it’s entirety was an indictment of those who don’t want the truth to come out. And he did it, IMHO, brilliantly.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

      Oops, here’s that paragraph:

We are going to write that final, definitive accounting of what happened in Benghazi. We would like to do it with your help, but we are going to do it nonetheless. Because understanding what happened in Benghazi goes to the heart of who we are as a country and the promises we make to those we send into harm’s way. They deserve the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The people we work for deserve the truth. The family and friends of those killed representing this country deserve the truth. There is no statute of limitations on that truth.

  4. kenoshamarge Says:

    Hillary closed by insisting,

“Unless you believe the United States should not send diplomats to any place that is dangerous, which I do not, then when we send them forth, there is always the potential for danger and risk.”

Sending diplomats to dangerous places means providing them with adequate security.

Hillary’s State Department failed to do that. Even the whitewashed report of her cronies admitted that much. Benghazi’s compound was being protected by “moderate Islamist” terrorists who overlapped with the other “moderate Islamist” terrorists who attacked the diplomatic compound.

Sending other people to dangerous places seems to be something political folks are all too willing to do. The people that do the fighting and the dying while the political people do the talking. Something about that just don’t sit right with me.

    • mcnorman Says:

These should be placed on a monitor until they are answered. Possibly tattoed on Cummings forehead backward so that he can see them in the mirror every morning.

  6. kenoshamarge Says:

Sadly after all is said and done I find myself agreeing with Charles Krauthammer. It was all for naught. Given Clinton’s Academy Award Class performance, especially the part about how she’s lost sleep worrying about the death of the four in Benghazi that will be played over and over again by the media and the left. And the media will also play the spat between Cummings and Gowdy repeatedly. Those sound bites will be the takeaway of the entire hearing.

Unless the FBI can get her this corrupt woman will get off scot free for what she’s done.

No matter how hard she tries she just cannot hide her arrogance.

Note her response to Him Jordon: “I wrote a whole chapter about this in my book Hard Choices, congressman; I’d be happy to send it to you,” she said.

That’s pure, unadulterated, elitist Hillary. That’s the greedy, dishonest, arrogant entitled woman the left wants to put in the White House. Along with her randy spouse who will do all he can to hog the spotlight. If she thinks otherwise she’s lying to herself as well as us.

Obama: ‘Gloomy’ Republicans ‘Down on America’ Like ‘Grumpy Cat’

President Obama today accused Republicans of being “down on America” like “Grumpy Cat.”

That, of course, is a reference to a Siamese named Tardar Sauce who became an Internet celebrity thanks to her underbite and perpetually grumpy expression.

Obama was talking to the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum Annual Issues Conference in Washington, where he was giving his standard stump speech gloating about his administration’s accomplishments.

“Today, America is leading the world in confronting new threats — making sure Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon. America is leading the world in global action on climate change. America is leading the world to write smarter and stronger trade rules for the 21st century. We’ve begun a new chapter of engagement with the Cuban people,” he said.

“…But we’ve got a lot of folks who are attacking the right of women just to have basic health care in this country and to be able to make decisions about reproductive freedom without having some member of Congress or some governor or some other elected official try to intrude.

    http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/10/23/obama-gloomy-republicans-down-on-america-like-grumpy-cat/

How like Obama to say that Republicans are “down” on America when what they are “down” on is him and his plan to socialize this country.

About ½ of this country is Republican or leans right. The POTUS insults them every chance he gets. Will we ever get a POTUS again that represents all the people in this country not just those in his party? And note, those in his party that walk the line.

I am also disgusted, once again, by the mantra about women’s health. As if Republicans wanted unhealthy women walking around. The divide between left and right isn’t about women’s health care. It’s about abortion. It’s about perfectly healthy women having their child ripped from their body and sliced and diced like sushi for sale.

Well, we are paying for our great trip with some total travel hell, ALL of American Airlines’ doing, I might add. They were waiting on a flight attendant who never showed, and instead of calling the on-call attendant in a timely fashion, they waited, and waited, and waited. Naturally, we missed our flight home, the last one to Charleston. Thankfully, our pet sitter was willing to drive the 45 minutes BACK to our house tonight. But we are currently out over $200 since there were no more hotel vouchers and they only gave us $75 for a Sat, night on a weekend the Panthers are in town. Grrrrrr.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

So sorry to hear you had a lousy ending to your wonderful trip. What is the world is wrong with American Airlines? Have they ever heard about customer service? Jeez Loueeze!

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I think they heard PLENTY abt it, and will hear more. Suzy plans on writing them as someone on the Executive Platinum level (she is almost at 1 million miles – seriously. HEY! She could be President!). She said terms like, “self-inflicted,” “poor decision making,” and “poor management” would be in it. 🙂

But we are home now, I finally got my computer up and running, AND we got to see Jordan on our way home. Now to upload all of my gazillion photos!

Obama fuels the flames of the anti-cop movement

    By Michael Goodwin

At a White House discussion about improving the  relationship between police departments and  black Americans, President Obama declared that “the moment is here.”

He meant a chance for big change, and that’s the problem. The change he and his allies are achieving is like throwing gasoline on a raging fire.

    http://nypost.com/2015/10/24/obama-fuels-the-flames-of-the-anti-cop-movement/

The fact is that since Obama took office this country has become the most divided I’ve seen. Racial relations have certainly deteriorated. I didn’t vote for Obama and I don’t “like” his politics, but I would have applauded him if he would have used the bully pulpit to try to bring this country together. AA citizens would have listened to him as they never would listen to a white man. Which is very racist but never mentioned.

He could have worked with the police and the people that live in dangerous neighborhoods so that children could walk the streets in more safety than they do now. No , he couldn’t have solved the problem, no one man can even if he is POSTUS.

Instead he chose to embrace the lawbreakers and attack the police. I don’t know if any of this can ever be repaired now that he’s given legitimacy to the radical #BlackLivesMatter movement. I’m not disappointed because I thought he was a big bag of wind from the gitgo. I am disappointed that so many of my fellow citizens don’t seem to care.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely. I know a number of us predicted that Obama would set back race relations DECADES but I, for one, would have been glad to eat some crow on that predictions. Sadly, he has made things so much worse, and now he is deteriorating respect for Police Officers as well. What a piece of work. He has done untold damage to this nation…

  17. kenoshamarge Says:

I sometimes think I must have the word “bias” stuck in my brain.
That’s because I, and many other Green Bay Packer fans feel that the national sportscasters don’t seem to “like” our team.

    Here’s a good for instance:

Green Bay Packers ready to heal up during bye

    http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2015/10/20/Green-Bay-Packers-ready-to-heal-up-during-bye/2161445316699/

After reading the article I turned to Lou and said, damn I thought they won.

The writer managed to say they are unbeaten this season but brought up:

By averting their first loss since the stunning road defeat in overtime at the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game nine months ago, the Packers are assured of staying perfect for at least two more weeks.

Seriously, he had to bring up a loss from last season?

    Then there was this:

the Green Bay Packers squeaked by the San Diego Chargers

Notice that they didn’t “win”, they “squeaked” by SD. Oh and I shouldn’t omit that the Chargers were “feisty”.

Packer fans have heard this kind of dreck for years. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t surprised to find no honesty or fairness in the media about politics. It’s simply become a part of the fabric of this country that some jerk gets to trash something, or someone or in this case a team he doesn’t seem to like. He should remember what all people who follow sports know – A “W” is a win no matter how it happened.

Or am I just being overly sensitive?

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No, I don’t think you are being sensitive. I say that as a Yankees’ fan who frequently has to endure the sportscasters going on and on and on and on abt whatever team is playing the Yankees AND bringing up the Red Sox at some point even though they aren’t there. So yeah – I totally get the frustration!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Well that shoots my theory that they just didn’t like the Packers because they were owned by the people of Green Bay and because Green Bay is such a small town compared to where most teams play.

I would suspect that the Yankees have to deal with the New York press and they seem to be, for the most part, hateful.

And why bring up the Red Sox? What’s with that? It’s like bringing up the loss the Packers had last season, WTH?
