More Idiocy From Obama Administration Post-Paris Attack *Open Thread*

by

Honest to pete, every time I think this President cannot surprise me with the offensive, condescending, downright false statements he makes, he finds a way. I reckon I am going to have to stop saying that nothing Obama says or does surprises me because he does keep finding a way. I think it is just that I am not capable, than HEAVENS, of thinking the way he does at all, so there is that.

To what am I referring? Well, after the idiotic comments Obama made at the press conference in Turkey, he then went to the Philippines and continued his idiotic statements. Jamie Weinstein highlights those comments in this Daily Caller piece:

[…] Considering what he said at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in the Philippines Wednesday morning, it doesn’t sound like it.

“When individuals say we should have a religious test and that only Christians, proven Christians should be admitted, that’s offensive,” he declared. “I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric that’s been coming out of here during the course of this debate.”

The president’s comment is stunning for a couple of reasons. For starters, it’s not true. It’s hard to imagine that a single person will join ISIS mainly because of the debate in the U.S. over whether we should accept Syrian refugees, or what type of refugees we should accept.

But it also suggests we should change our actions just because ISIS may be able to use them to recruit more members. Should we stop educating girls because it offends ISIS and may help it with recruitment? Should we abandon Israel because it offends ISIS and may help it with recruitment? Should we shut down Hollywood because the movies it produces offends ISIS and may help it with recruitment?

No freaking kidding. It seems if Obama has his way, we wouldn’t do a host of policies or activities lest it offend ISIS. Weinstein continues:

Should we not stand up for the Christians ISIS is slaughtering or the Yazidi girls ISIS it is enslaving because those stands probably offend the terror group and may help it with recruitment?

Should we stop drone strikes against terrorists because it offends ISIS and may help it with recruitment?

Are we now going to run our lives and control our debates over what may or may not theoretically help ISIS with recruitment?

In reality, one of the most potent recruitment tools for ISIS is the perception that it is winning. The more successful terror attacks it is able to stage, the longer it is able to control vast swaths of territory, the more radical Muslims will want to join what is perceived to be a winning team to create the first Caliphate in nearly 100-years. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

That is exactly right. That is PRECISELY what aids in recruitment for ISIS and other radical Islamists – the belief that they are WINNING.

And when you have idiotic statements from not just the President of the United States, but the Secretary of State too, that just adds to that belief for ISIS. From The Hill:

[…] Speaking about the Paris attacks to staff and their families at the U.S. embassy in Paris, Kerry said “there’s something different about what happened from Charlie Hebdo, and I think everybody would feel that.”

“There was a sort of particularized focus and perhaps even a legitimacy in terms of — not a legitimacy, but a rationale that you could attach yourself to somehow and say, OK, they’re really angry because of this and that,” Kerry said.

“This Friday was absolutely indiscriminate. It wasn’t to aggrieve one particular sense of wrong. It was to terrorize people. It was to attack everything that we do stand for. That’s not an exaggeration,” he said.

Kerry came under immediate criticism on social media for his remarks, which seemed to imply a “legitimacy” to the Charlie Hebdo attacks, where terrorists had gunned down 12 employees of the paper, known for its satirical portrayal of the Prophet Muhammad. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

That, Ladies and Gentlemen, is our Secretary of State, the top diplomat of the country, referring to the attacks against Charlie Hebdo as having a “legitimacy” or “rationale…” THAT kind of thing is music to the ears of radical Islamist terrorists. And it is beyond idiotic.

Meanwhile, in Paris, there was another major event that occurred Tuesday night as more explosions rocked the city which exemplified what happens when a country declares war against ISIS. The Hill has the story:

French police killed two suspected terrorists and arrested seven more Wednesday morning following a tense raid in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, according to multiple reports.

Law enforcement officials say the sweep targeted the alleged radicals because they were “about to move on some kind of operation,” according to CNN.

The network reported Wednesday that one of the dead suspects is a woman who allegedly detonated a suicide bomb.

Five police officers are receiving treatment for minor wounds, it added, and a police dog also died during the operation.

Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said that Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged mastermind of the Paris attacks, was one of the raid’s targets. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Good on them for going after these terrorists and taking them out. France is not playing in their response to this horrendous attack on their homeland. They are not the least bit concerned that their attacks might increase membership for ISIS, unlike Obama.

Yes, France and her President are making ISIS pay for what they have done rather than cow in an unbelievably disturbing twisted political correctness that would have us say or do nothing lest it upset the terrorists. And for Obama to attack members of the opposition party rather than attacking terrorists in his rhetoric is appalling on so many levels, I scarcely know where to begin.

So I will leave that to you. This is an Open Thread.

Even amid Paris carnage, U.S. ties own hands in ISIS fight

Obama announced the U.S. campaign against the Islamic State on Sept. 10, 2014, pledging to “redouble our efforts to cut off [Islamic State] funding.” Given that the oil-stealing business is the terrorist group’s financial lifeblood, why has it taken until now to hit the Islamic State’s oil transport capability in a significant way?

The answer, apparently, is that Obama was worried about civilian casualties. What if even one civilian driving an Islamic State truck, or near a truck, was killed in a U.S. attack? That concern, apparently, was enough to stop American forces from attacking a critical part of the Islamic State’s support system.

Yes, a civilian like this? The kind that bozo releases back into the public sector?

Karakrah is a logistics and transportation operative for militant Islamists in the United States, according to high-level law enforcement sources. He moves people, weapons, explosives, drugs, money, and other materiel to terrorist cells operating in Chicago, Brooklyn, New York and Saddle Brook, New Jersey, among other locations across the United States. More than a decade ago Karakrah smuggled drugs and weapons for the Juarez drug cartel in Mexico. In July of 2014, he was on a supply run to a militant Islamist cell operating out of a basement in Brooklyn, law enforcement sources told Judicial Watch. Before moving to Chicago sometime in 2011, Karakrah lived in Anthony, New Mexico and a suburb of El Paso.

Marge, I have been hearing more and more abt this – how this Administration won’t bomb anything if there is a chance a civilian can get hit, even after they have dropped pamphlets and all of that. I guess it hasn’t occurred to them that maybe ISIS makes sure there ARE people around just to make sure nothing can happen…

And mcnorman, I am just infuriated abt this Administration, this FBI, releasing a KNOWN ISIS terrorist. THAT is the worst thing abt him, but he is a bad, bad man even taking out the ISIS connection. He raped a child, he engages in trafficking, all kinds of things – and they do a PLEA deal with him?? Are they INSANE???? Wow. Just wow. Way to look out for the people of the US there…

Panetta: Islamic State Shouldn’t Be Contained; It Must Be Defeated

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Yes, “containment” is not a decent strategy, as we are seeing. So when the Petulant Toddler in Chief yells at reporters complaining abt “half-baked ideas” on how to deal with ISIS, he is showing off how failed his policy is.

Such an arrogant, condescending, patronizing man he is. NO ONE else’s idea is as good as his no matter the sorry outcome…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

I respect Panetta for trying to keep from being “political”. But there comes a time when telling the truth gets you into “political” territory. And saying that ISIS must be defeated, not just contained, puts Panetta at odds with The Bubble Boy in the White House.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

True that. Lucky for Panetta he no longer works for Obama or it could be bad for him. Ahem.

I am glad he is speaking out, though. It seems the chorus of those highlighting how failed is Obama’s strategy is growing…

Rival Campaigns Starting to Notice the Potential Staying Power of Ted Cruz

He has more cash than any other Republican candidate. He is organized in every county in the first four voting states. And he has served up one strong debate performance after another.
Now, not three months from primary season, rivals concede they have begun to fear Ted Cruz has an increasingly clear path to the Republican nomination.

“Anybody who thinks differently,” said an operative with a rival 2016 campaign, “is lying to you.”

Quinnipiac: Voters Give Hillary a ‘Chilly’ Reception in Colorado

A key swing state is giving Hillary Clinton the cold shoulder. Quinnipiac surveyed 1,262 Colorado voters from November 11-15 and discovered they want anyone but her.

The former Secretary of State’s favorability numbers, the poll finds, are worse than Donald Trump’s. She has a negative 33-61 percent favorable rating, compared to Trump’s negative of 34-58 percent. Her honesty numbers are even less flattering. While 30 percent of Coloradoans say Clinton is honest, 67 percent say they don’t trust her.
