“Unhinged” *Open Thread*

That is what Gov. Bush said of Donald Trump and his latest rantings, that he is “unhinged.”  I am inclined to agree, especially as Donald is threatening to sue Ted Cruz for his “dishonest” ads pointing out what Donald has said and done in the not-so-distant past, all while slandering and assassinating Cruz’s character with his own claims of “unhinged” when it comes to Cruz, adding “liar” to that attack.

Now, Trump is threatening to go third party – AGAIN. I know, what a shock, right? Gee, who could have seen THAT coming? Just about everyone who acknowledges what an incredible liar he is, saying whatever pops into his head at the time, even if it is the antithesis of what he said the day before. And yet, Trump continues to enjoy a good deal of support, and WAY too much air time. I can barely stand to watch Fox News, or even Fox Business Network. If they aren’t having Trump on relentlessly, they have a family member. UGH.

Let’s put it this way – I am watching a whole lot more Hallmark Channel these days than the news. Well, what passes for news now, which is basically the Trump show. I am so sick of him, so sick of hearing about him, so sick of his base persona, his ridicule of others, his unceasing attacks/character assassinations, his petulance, his rudeness, his pettiness, I can barely stand it.

But even worse is what the support of Trump, and Sanders, says about where our country is. I know people are angry, but grow the hell up and figure out how to fix the problems instead of  going with scorched earth-style candidates. Here we actually had the chance to elect some really decent, good, hard-working people, who care first about the country, not their own egos. Instead, we get The Donald And The Bern. We have serious issues facing this nation, and the world. We need serious people to deal with these issues, not a buffoon or a Socialist wanting to spend everyone else’s money and grow the government even larger.

I admit, I am feeling a bit down and disturbed by what I am seeing in this country. I am disturbed to see friends whom I considered reasonable and rational throwing their support to Trump because they are angry, and despite all evidence to the contrary, pick him. Heck, I have lost someone I considered a dear friend because she is a Trump supporter and cut me out of her life. She was one who used to decry and denounce Obots for their personality-driven cult-like following of Obama, and now, she is supporting someone who is nothing more than a personality with no real substance to him other than his massive ego.

And I am sick of the media insisting that if Trump wins SC, he is essentially the Nominee. Gee, I don’t remember Newt Gingrich being the nominee when HE won SC. Yet, this is the meme the media is pushing constantly, and I am just so sick and tired of it all, I could scream.

I am worried about this nation. I mean, seriously worried about this nation. I worry about a citizenry that, faced with good, decent, proven leaders, choose a reality star who talks crassly, who is rude, sexist/misogynistic, egotistical, loud mouthed, and a flip-flopper on a major level. That is on the Republican side. On the Democratic side, that the majority of people are picking a Democratic Socialist, hoping he will be a bit more to the middle once he is elected as one Democratic woman strategist stated this morning on Maria Bartiromo’s show. Seriously?? You vote for someone trusting they don’t mean what they say?? Really?

What the hell is WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

Sorry, I know this is a bit of a downer, but after the deplorable behavior of Trump this past weekend, I had yet another friend throw his support to Trump, coming out of the shadows to announce it on Facebook. Again, someone I thought was a smart, reasonable, rational person. I simply cannot wrap my head around this move toward a man who is such a liar and buffoon, someone who is a liberal in just about every way, something he vocalized quite loudly and rudely just Saturday night, joining the ranks of Code Pink and Michael Moore in his attacks. Yet, Republicans are declaring he’s their guy to take over the White House from another Democrat whom they claimed to detest.

I have to hope, and pray, that the adults in the room will persevere, that we will get someone in the White House with the temperament, abilities, and intellect to rectify the very serious damage Obama has done to the economy, to any semblance of Immigration laws, to race relations, and more. That is not Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders, not by a long shot.

We must not surrender our nation to either of these men, or Hillary Clinton, for that matter But like Trump, the main candidate the media is pushing is Sanders. All of a sudden, they are all upset about the Superdelegates throwing their support behind Clinton when they took great delight and glee when the very same Superdelegates threw their support behind the untested, unvetted, Barack Obama. Just more hypocrisy from the media as they work very hard to determine the outcome of this election. Sadly, too many people are allowing them to do so. We cannot surrender to them, either.

That’s enough of a rant from me for today.

Rant on Rev! I feel the same way. Since I no longer have anything to do with friends and family that are/were Obots it is distressing to have to lighten my circle by eliminating Trumpkins. As you say, people who couldn’t say enough bad things about Obots are completely besotted with Trump. Sorry, I just don’t get it and what’s more I don’t want to. Trump is a boorish clown and I’ve come to the conclusion that anyone that can support him – is too.

In the meantime, I have got to get me one of these:

Thank you, Marge. Honestly, I am upset by the continued support of this man even after his despicable performance Sat. night. Jonah Goldberg was just on a few minutes ago claiming that Trump’s comments were, “dishonorable, and dishonest,” along with another word he used to describe the Trump performance. He lies, lies, lies, including the pledge he signed, apparently, and yet his believers are SO sure that what he said before isn’t what he will do now. It is truly mind boggling.

And yes, sadly, I’ll be lightening my load, too, though it seems some have decided to lighten THEIR load of those who aren’t True Believers, and fail to see the irony.hypocrisy. Sad, truly sad.

LOL abt the bumper sticker. Perfect!

This isn’t all that funny when you consider that something like 10% of college kids thought she was all ready on the Supreme Court.

Why Are Liberals So Racist When It Comes to Clarence Thomas?

Here’s an interesting piece, by Charles Mudede. It seems that the death of Antonin Scalia brought to mind the cinema!

These thoughts occurred to me the day after the death of the hyper-conservative Justice Antonin Scalia. I first recalled, as I walked down Beacon Avenue South (the squirrels there have clearly been fattened by the warm winter), the strange thing that happens at the end of Ride with the Devil, an underappreciated Civil War epic by the Taiwanese American director Ang Lee (Eat Drink Man Woman, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and, most famously, Brokeback Mountain).

Huh! I wonder why this called Scalia to mind?

The film has a black man, Daniel Holt (Jeffrey Wright), who is a member of a Southern-identified civilian militia called the Bushwhackers.

Oh boy. This is about to go off the rails, isn’t it?

    And there’s more:

There’s something endlessly fascinating about the left’s insistence that Clarence Thomas is not “authentically” black—that this descendant of slaves, this grandson of sharecroppers, this hardworking man who rose to the grandest heights of the legal profession, is a traitor to his race and his class. I don’t know what it is about Thomas that drives the left so nuts, but it’s there, and it’s very real. Could you imagine what would happen if someone on the right described a brilliant liberal African-American of being no more than a slave controlled by white devils?

I hate to say this—the charge is offered all too often with far little in the way of support—but that shit is racist as hell.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I was reading a comment on another blog where it was claimed that Scalia was NOT the most conservative Justice – that both Thomas and Alito were more so and Scalia was only in 3rd place. Of course his discourse and dissents were brilliant so perhaps that’s why people got the idea he was the most conservative. Or maybe because he referenced the constitution the most.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Excellent question abt why the Left is SO racist toward Thomas. And the point abt if the Right demeaned and belittled the rise to the heights Thomss did, and Condi Rice, for that matter, the Left would be going BALLISTIC. Yet somehow, it is okay for them to trash Thomas and the amazing rise he has made in his life.

I have to admit, I fell for some of the BS early on abt Thomas, but having paid more attention to what he has to say, I realized I had been had again…

Thanks for the good piece, comment, and the tribute to Scalia, Marge.

Projection: Loretta Lynch ‘Likely’ To Be Obama’s SCOTUS Nominee

And if the GOP doesn’t knuckle under to Obama make a member of his administration a member of the Supreme Court all the little liberals will wail and whine and claim both racism and sexism. A twofer whine – how divine.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I would not be one bit surprised if Obama nominated Lynch. Our concerns and suspicions of her have, sadly, been confirmed and then some. She is actually worse than Holder, if that is possible. If they clear her a path to SCOTUS, our nation is in for a world of hurt. The Dems will never be held accountable for their in-Constitutional actions, and that is unacceptable.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Supposedly their thinking is that the GOP would look bad because she has all ready been confirmed as AG. Of course the idea that the GOP would confirm a member of the Obama Administration is about as likely as Bush getting his way about Harriet Meiers. But then his own party was a against that as the Dems so maybe that doesn’t count.

All in all the left has lost all credibility when it comes to confirming someone who is eminently qualified. Just think Robert Bork and how they smeared and refused him.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, yeah – I totally get that is their thinking. But there is a helluva big difference between an AG who serves at the pleasure of the President, and a lifetime appointment to the bench, a WORLD of difference.

You said it abt their credibility, too. They have NONE.

Pinocchios: Fact-Checking Hillary’s Tweets on Scalia Vacancy

Yesterday on the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton went on a riff about how wonderful it would be if there were such a thing as a real-time political fact-checking mechanism that would sound an alarm (she suggests and mimics a dog barking) every time Republicans say something false.

It garnered a laugh from her audience, but I’m…not convinced this sort of running truth detector would benefit her, given the frequency and effortlessness of her own lies.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That’s just it – they lie with impunity. Obama lied through his TEETH abt Obamacare, as did the rest of the Dems (sorry, I am particularly cranky abt that right this minute since I just had to shell out a god bit of money for an epidural I am getting tomorrow, the price courtesy of the ins. we now have to have thanks to Obamacare). They didn’t care. They lied abt Benghazi. Meh, shrug of the shoulders, it’s all the Republicans’ fault.

They just do not care, no matter how bald faced the lie is, it just doesn’t matter to them.

This was in our paper the other day – I LOVED it! Thank you so much for putting it up here.

  8. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

This is a misleading article. I am pretty sure they were saying Trump was up in the 30’s in % BEFORE the debate. Now Cruz and Rubio are very close to him, especially considering the margin of error. So I’d say the debate hurt him pretty much: http://dailycaller.com/2016/02/16/poll-trumps-attacks-on-george-w-bush-not-hurting-him-in-south-carolina/

  9. piper Says:

SMH, the hypocrisy is beyond belief. I can see where people like that Trump is yelling out non PC sound bites which they wish they could use but can’t because of work, family and neighborhood pushback. However, T-rump has no legislative experience including school board membership so how do we know how he will actually govern. Look at how our current p-resident governs and he supposedly was a member of Illinois legislature. Supposedly refers to his ‘present’ type of votes which were probably casted by his staff.

Keep on ranting – you’re speaking for many of us.

  10. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

A friend had this story abt “Trump Voters In 2016 Are Not So Different From Obama Voters In 2008.” Yep, that’s what we know: http://www.epictimes.com/vincecoyner/2016/02/trump-voters-in-2016-are-not-so-different-from-obama-voters-in-2008/
