Democrat Disaster ** Open Thread **

Although the media would not have you know it the Democrats are in as much disarray as the Republicans. They started with fewer candidates in their primary but no one ever doubted for a minute that Hillary was inevitable. A few debates and a little polite bickering, just to show that were some choices.

Along came Bernie Sanders and did more that put up a fight. From time to time. He had Hillary on the ropes in the first debate and decided not to throw a punch. He stated that he was “tired” of hearing about her e-mails. Oops, file that under chances lost.

The fact that a septuagenarian Socialist is still in the fight is amazing. He’s older than I am by 2 years and I not only am too old to cut the mustard, half the time I can’t even find it.

Owing perhaps to both a lack of interest in the Hillary candidate and a large interest in the old Socialist “outsider” who promises the moon to his supporters with the bill going to others. What’s not to like?

What’s with that “outsider” nonsense anyway? A little investigating shows that:  After settling in Vermont in 1968, Sanders ran unsuccessful third-party campaigns for governor and U.S. senator in the early to mid-1970s. As an independent, he was elected mayor of Burlington—Vermont’s most populous city—in 1981, where he was reelected three times. In 1990 he was elected to represent Vermont’s at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1991 Sanders co-founded the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He served as a congressman for 16 years before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006. In 2012, he was reelected with 71% of the popular vote. He is currently Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs from January 3, 2013 – January 3, 2015.” Outsider my aunt fanny.

Although the old socialist is putting up a good fight and in many cases drawing bigger crowds than Hillary, does anyone really think he will be the nominee? Seriously?

But what about all the articles and cartoons of  Hillary being one step ahead of the FBI and an indictment, with the FBI closing fast. Lovely dream isn’t it? To think that the law would be the same for a Clinton as for lessor folks just might restore some of our confidence in our system of justice. It’s JMO but I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

I don’t think an Obama “Justice Department” will indict a former Obama SoS. I don’t think an Obama Administration will allow it to happen to another Dem and a Dem that is most apt to carry on his agenda since she needs him, at this point, far more than he needs her. Michelle might like to see Queen Hillary miss the White House throne but I doubt she’ll fight to see it happen. Jarrett, who is smarter and more powerful knows it would be a mistake.

I doubt most of the Washington crowd on either side of the aisle want her indicted. If she’s vulnerable, then so are all of them. And there are, again this is my opinion, too many with skeletons in their own closets to want to see another insider get their just deserts. A small fish is thrown to the wolves periodically just to pretend their is justice for all. A token sacrifice to keep the crowd happy.

Hillary has a lot of baggage, is a poor campaigner, isn’t well liked by the media and has far too many ties to Wall Street that the left claims to abominate.

Everyone knows it, the media reports on it only if they have no other choice and the hypocrisy is so blatant that even many Dems are disgusted by it and her.

She also has the Benghazi baggage although the Dems pretend that its nothing. Just the GOP playing politics. It seems like they will get away with it and that the Republicans have lost every chance they had to nail her for her lies and perfidy about this topic and then she opens her mouth and sticks her foot right in.

As an Independent, a woman without a party and certainly no respect for either I don’t know which pile of incipient compost smells worse.

Liars to the left of me, liars to the right. And in the end, we the voters may well be left with a choice we simply cannot make. For those who simply vote party it will be easy. For those with a conscience – not so much.

Democrats Are Worse On Israel Than Donald Trump Is

An organized movement of AIPAC supporters has arisen to push AIPAC to rescind its invitation to Trump. A growing collection of conservative and reform rabbis, almost all of whom identify overtly with the Democratic Party and its progressive philosophy, are leading the effort. This incident says fairly little about Trump, but it speaks volumes about AIPAC, its supporters, the Jewish community, and the differences between the political left and right in this country.

I have never been shy about expressing my loathing for Trump. I find the very idea that anyone would even consider him fit to be president ludicrous. But the man has a right to speak. Whenever and wherever you seek to silence a voice you are anti-Constitution. Much as I loathe him and his supporters let him speak. If not you are worse than he.

Savvy or not – I’ll let people decide – Donald owes at least $250 millions to bank. One interesting paragraph

“Scott Butera, a former UBS banker who Mr. Trump hired to help restructure the casino business, recalls the fraught situation between the company and a group of about 30 creditors including several banks. “But for better or worse, Wall Street has a short memory,” said Mr. Butera, who is supporting Mr. Trump in the presidential race. “All of Donald’s difficult situations were eventually resolved.”

Thus we end up past the primaries with 2 rich, cheating liars as our choice. I say that because I don’t think there’s any stopping Trump now. Too many fools support someone with no principals, no character, no honesty and an ego the size of his bankroll.

      Then there’s Hillary…

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

Don’t you wonder how all those “early” voters feel now that their candidate is no longer in the running? Early voting is, IMO, beyond foolish, especially when there is such a large field. They wasted their vote when it could have, if they’d waited, meant something.

I still hope for Cruz but I know in my heart he has little to no chance. I don’t think he’s perfect and I don’t slobber about him like a hormone filled teenager. I just think he’s the best of the choice left to us.

A police officer called the station. “I have an interesting case here”, he said. “I have an old lady that shot her husband for walking on a floor she had just mopped.”

    “Have you arrested her?”

“Not yet”, as the response. “The floors still wet”.

    • mcnorman Says:

Sounds like my grandma…he wouldn’t have dared walk on a wet floor. Now, the dumbell I married would. Then again, that is but a small reason why we are divorced now.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

My husband sent that to me in an email. He has a bad habit of walking on a wet floor even when warned it’s a wet floor.

He says the look on that old lady’s face is the same one I get when he does that. I haven’t resorted to firearms. Just deadly looks. So far.

Everyone says that Obama is a narcissist and he sure looks like one to me. Also a major league whiner. But can he also be a masochist? Because he seems to like being insulted and dissed by little tin pot dictatorships after he’s treated them like they were worth a hoot.

First Iran and now Cuba. The hits just keep coming. And he seems to like taking it. This man does not love this country.

Another great post and comments! Thank you, Marge, for all your great work and wonderful writing, and for keeping comments out of Purgatory (sorry, Justine!)!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And today should be another big day. I saw a brief clip yesterday of the many, many Rabbis who are coming out to oppose Trump. We will see if that makes any difference…

And like you, Marge, I am not in love with Cruz, but he would be a far cry better than Trump or Clinton…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Looks like Arizona is going Trump and Utah big for Cruz.

Kasich is just a spoiler for Cruz now. He can’t hurt Trump but he can harm Cruz beyond his ability to win. He’s never been a favorite of mine but he’s fast becoming someone I really, really dislike. And his pathetic flip-flop on allowing Obama’s Supreme Court nominee a hearing, saying perhaps he’d nominate Garland himself was beyond absurd. Then telling people to take a “chill pill”?

Good News! Hollywood Is Fair to Us Now!

    By Andrew Klavan

Well, protest no more! Through the miracle of Donald Trump, left-wing Hollywood can no longer insult or debase us enough to actually describe us. Our long battle against Hollywood bias is over! We have defeated them by becoming exactly what they said we were.

    It’s the Character

    By Mona Charen

I first became aware of Donald Trump when he chose to make cheating on his first wife front-page news. It was the early ’90s. Donald and Ivana Trump broke up over the course of months. Not that divorce is shocking, mind you; among the glitterati marriage seems more unusual. Nor is infidelity exactly novel. But it requires a particular breed of lowlife to advertise the sexual superiority of one’s mistress over the mother of one’s children.

That was Trump’s style. He leaked stories to the New York tabloids about Ivana’s breast implants — they didn’t feel right. Marla Maples, by contrast, suited him better. She, proving her suitability for the man she was eager to steal from his family, told the papers that her encounters with the mogul were “the best sex I’ve ever had.” It wasn’t just Donald Trump’s betrayal that caught my eye, nor just the tawdriness: It was the cruelty.

    • piper Says:

Yesterday, someone told me that Megan Kelly’s rejection of Donald’s romantic advances toward her is his typical way of seeking revenge. He apparently sent her flowers and romantic notes indicating his interest in pursuing her. Not sure of time line – before or after marriage to Melanie.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

That would explain a lot. A would-be-lover scorned.

Funny how all the little Trumpanzees that thought Obama’s obsession with FOX was sick don’t feel the same way about Trump’s obsession with Megyn Kelly.

‘Starting to lose it’: Donald Trump says Megyn Kelly should give him ‘at least half of her salary’ [video]

Watching the man’s obsession with Megyn Kelly I can only come to one conclusion: The. Man. Is. Insane.

    • piper Says:

Another drumpf revenge story. Apparently Donald thought he win Princess Diana just like Onasis courted and married Jackie K.

“Presumably impressed by Scott’s upmarket track record, Trump offered her unprecedented access.

Unfortunately for the man with the most ridiculous comb-over since Bobby Charlton, the portrait that emerged proved to be a devastating exposé.

And it turned out that hell hath no fury like a billionaire scorned. Trump launched a campaign of vicious vitriol during which he accused Scott of being “unattractive”, “pathetic” and “boring”.

He also accused her of being “desperate for a man”, “totally uptight and insecure… not at all very smart” and “obnoxious”.

The flow of letters gradually petered out only to be resumed eight years ago after activists protesting over Trump’s plans to build a golf course on a beautiful stretch of the Scottish coastline near Aberdeen sent DVDs of Scott’s documentary to all the local councillors.

While the countryside-loving Scott is “passionately opposed” to the golf course, she was not responsible for the distribution of the DVDs. Such a nicety meant nothing to a furious Trump.

“Selina Scott was a third-class journalist who is now ancient history and she treated me unfairly,” he said.

“It was a boring story then and she has since faded into oblivion where she belongs.”

He also resumed his poison-pen correspondence and the letters only stopped after Scott threatened to get lawyers involved.”

      • kenoshamarge Says:

The man is sick in the head. As is anyone that ignores stories like this and wants to put him in the White House.

I usually just regard Trump and Hillary as the evil twins I couldn’t vote for. Now I see they aren’t twins. He’s nuts and evil – She’s just evil.

        • piper Says:

This will be the first time in my 46 years of voting that I absolutely refuse to hold my nose to vote for either candidate. Enough – both parties to need to pull their heads out of the sand (being kind here) and vet realistic excellent people to run for our highest office. Garbage in translates to piss poor governance which we and the rest of the world can’t afford now and in the future.

Although I’m upset about the latest terrorist attacks, we have seen terroristic attacks before and how leaders of various countries have dealt with them. Wondering if we have leaders with stamina and realistic perspective to handle the current crises. Need more than a few words and pats on the head.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of all terrorism and their families.

          • kenoshamarge Says:

If our “leaders” were as concerned with the victims and their families as they are with our supposed “Islamaphobia” the world would be a safer place.

At the same time out of the other side of his mouth

“‘This is going to happen in the United States’: Donald Trump calls for surveillance of Muslims and advocates waterboarding terror suspects after Brussels attack
Donald Trump commented on the attack in Brussels which killed at least 34 individuals and ISIS has claimed responsibility for on Tuesday
Trump said in that interview on Fox & Friends that the US needs to ‘shut the borders’ and stop allowing Muslim refugees into the country
He advocated the use of waterboarding on terrorist suspects, saying he would go further if the laws allowed him
Trump said Paris terror suspect Salah Abdeslam probably knew about the attack Tuesday and that had he been tortured it could have been stopped
He told CBS This Morning; ‘This is going to happen in the United States’
Trump also called into FBN’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo saying the US must have surveillance of Muslims in this country, particularly at mosques”
