The US DOJ And CA DOJ Have The Same MO, And The Best Debate Ever *Open Thread*

Yes, both the Federal Department of Justice, and the head AG for California have one thing in common: underhandedness.

The DOJ of the USA has now been found to hide some pretty important information from us about – wait for it – IRAN. And the issue they kept secret is mighty important, too. That would be hackers and the Nuclear Deal. From the Daily Signal:

On March 24, the Department of Justice indicted seven Iranian hackers for two cyber-crimes. The charges result from the individuals’ attacks on U.S. bank websites and the breach of a New York dam’s control systems.

Even though the indictment was just released to the public, it had originally been announced but then immediately sealed the same week the U.S. and Iran were implementing agreements regarding Iran’s nuclear program—in addition to negotiating the release offour American prisoners and compensation of $1.7 billion back to Iran.

Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch statedlast week that “the Department of Justice is sending a powerful message: that [they] will not allow any individual, group, or nation to sabotage American financial institutions” and that the charges illustrate cyber-hacking or attacks of any sort will not be tolerated by the U.S. government.

While that may be true, it also appears that the Department of Justice wanted to keep the public in the dark on Iran’s cyber-crimes while the administration pursued building a relationship with the regime. If the Justice Department truly desires to make its point known on cyber-hacking, it should shine a light on Iran’s misdoings—not delay the truth as a favor to the administration. Isn’t that special? Bear in mind, this is the “Mission Statement” of the DOJ:

To enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.

So about that whole “to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic” thing. Apparently, AG Lynch, and President Obama, forgot about that little bit of the Mission for the DOJ. This kowtowing to a state sponsor of terror (Iran) which has killed a number of Americans all to get a HORRIBLE deal is appalling. That this government would hide information about these hackers speaks volumes about both where our Federal AG is, and where our country is.

And that same mindset is reflected by the California Attorney General, Kamala Harris, who, by the way, is running for re-election. It turns out that AG Harris has some major connections to Planned Parenthood. Why does that matter? Because she is pursuing the filmmaker who revealed the horrendous practices of Planned Parenthood, David Daleiden, and doing so in a way that is shocking. From The Federalist:

California Attorney General Kamala Harris, whose Department of Justice raided the home of a pro-life activist Tuesday afternoon, has financial ties with Planned Parenthood.

Harris, who is running for U.S. Senate as a Democrat, has a petition on her campaign page asking visitors to sign in support of preventing Planned Parenthood from being defunded. She also received $15,000 in campaign donations from the nation’s largest abortion provider during her re-election campaign in 2014.

Kamela Harris

Harris’s office controls the California DOJ, which recently raided the home of David Daleiden, the journalist behind the undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s scheme to sell organs harvested from aborted babies. During the raid, authorities reportedly seized damning, yet-to-be-released video footage that would expose more of Planned Parenthood’s organs-for-cash setup.

Last year, Harris publicly spoke out against Senate Republicans for attempting to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider, and applauded Planned Parenthood’s work. She also supported a California bill, which was signed into law last year, that forces crisis pregnancy centers to inform their clients of where they can get an abortion. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Uh, yeah. I think it is safe to say that any elected official who has a Donation link to Planned Parenthood on her website, has an agenda and is not going to be an impartial arbiter of the law or justice.

But did you catch the part about what happened to Daleiden?  From The Stream:

[…] Agents seized all video footage from his apartment, along with his personal information, David Daleiden said in a Facebook post. Daleiden, the founder of a group called the Center for Medical Progress, said agents left behind documents that he contends implicate Planned Parenthood in illegal behavior related to the handling of fetal tissue. […](Click here to read the rest.)

Yes, the CA DOJ raided his home like he was some member of a drug cartel or something. Wow.

That is where we are in this country now. As if we didn’t already know how important this election is, this makes it that much more important. When the Federal DOJ conceals critical information from the people, and the CA AG goes after someone for what is clearly an ideologically motivated reason, it is clear as day that there is a LOT at stake.

It is discouraging, isn’t it? Considering some of the candidates from whom people are choosing, it is even more so. Hence the need for some humor – at their expense.

To that end, Comedy Central recently had an hour long debate between Trump and Sanders. Well, not really Trump and Sanders, but it might as well have been. The two actors were spot on in their depictions of these two men. I would put up the entire video except there are a few places that just go too far (here is the link if you want to watch the whole thing. I was cracking up a good bit of the time.). Instead, I will share some highlights with you. I recommend not drinking or eating anything as you watch these.

The first one isn’t on Youtube, unfortunately, but you can watch it on Facebook HERE. It is hilarious, and captures Trump and Sanders perfectly.

And then there is this response to one of the questions asked of the candidates:

Oh, my – funny, right? These two men routinely do these impersonations, and they have Trump and Sanders down pat.

Hey, if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry, right? That’s it for me. This is an Open Thread. What’s on your minds today?

I gave up all hope for the “J” in DOJ meaning anything when they refused to prosecute the Black Panthers and their intimidation outside a polling place.

Justice means nothing in this country anymore and neither does the law.

EXCELLENT video, Helen. Steve is so right abt Kasich. Seriously – what the HELL is it going to take for him to get OUT already?!?! He has won ONE state – his own – that’s it. Most of the time, he hasn’t even come in second! WHY is he playing spoiler for Trump???

I hope to God he gets out before CA so Cruz actually ha a chance to BEAT Trump there. But with his ego, I doubt he will…

    Say Cheese, Donald

    By Derek Hunter

Donald Trump does not lose well. He’s been losing a lot lately, and practice has not made for perfect.

In Wisconsin, Donald Trump lost by a lot. That did not sit well with him. The statement his campaign released after the humiliating loss was everything we’ve come to expect of him – petty, childish, whiny, etc.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No, he really does not lose well, does he? And it just ratchets up his arrogance, bullying, abusive language. His fans, of course, swallow it up.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

His crazy supporters don’t lose well either. As you noticed yesterday over a NQ the kin went completely batty after Trump lost Wisconsin. And if you compare her to some of the comments by Trumpanzees on other blogs they are worse than she is.

Can anyone see a chance that the Republican Party can be put back together again? As an Independent I can’t see it happening.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, yeah – she is much milder than some other Trump supporters I have known (I don’t know if you saw my comment to you the other day, but sadly, Ferd and Katmoon are also Trumpanzees now. That is shocking to me on a number of levels, especially the abortion issue and how Trump talks abt his daughter. Go figure.). So yeah – I guess Kin could be worse – too many others are.

I don’t see how the GOP is going to get put back together, either. When you have people who only operate from a position of anger and vindictiveness, it is hard to see them just letting that go. The same goes for the far left loonies supporting Sanders, their “outside the Beltway” Beltway insider. Facts mean nothing these days…

          • kenoshamarge Says:

Ferd and Katmoon? OMG! I am speechless.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Uh, yeah. Ferd even went after a mutual friend of ours not long ago telling her to “wake her as up” in terms of Trump and the election, on Facebook for all the world to see. The way he talked to her was stunning, but no more so than Katmoon unfriending me in “real life,” and on Facebook, going so far as to block me so she didn’t have to see my comments abt Trump. Seriously. I could not believe it, Marge. (Katmoon told me the only reason I liked Fiorina was because she was a woman – thereby lumping me in with those who support Clinton JUST because she is a woman, or Obama because he is black (biracial), as if identity politics is how I roll. Frankly, I was just a tad insulted by that characterization. Never mind that Walker was my FIRST choice anyway – but yeah, that was the beginning of the end for us.)

            • kenoshamarge Says:

They, like so many others have reached “cult” status and are no longer just supporters. Once that happens there is no reasoning with them. Sad. This election is not only going to destroy the Republican Party as we know it but a lot of friendships too. It’s their loss Amy.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, Marge. I admit, I was stunned by it all. People who have been to my home, and I to theirs, and this is where we are now. All because of Trump. That is truly a sad state of affairs, but yes, you are so, so right – it is a cult, and they will not hear a word against him, no matter what he says.

I still cannot believe that his comments abt abortion, women, and his own daughter, haven’t had more decent people running away from him in droves. But no…

  4. kenoshamarge Says:

Brilliant piece by Steve Deace. I can’t believe that until a week ago I had never heard of this guy. Getting off NQ has been an eye opener for me in more ways than one.

The GOP Finally Turns to Conservatism to Save Itself

At long last, the only thing left to try now is conservatism. As the final non-white trash reality TV show presidential candidate remaining (John Kasich’s Bonfire of the Vanities doesn’t count as a real campaign), the results in Wisconsin prove the Republican Party is unifying behind Ted Cruz. Which means pigs will now fly, Hell has frozen over, and George Lucas will resume making good movies. There is hope for America, after all.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It’s amazing how that happens, huh?

Thanks so much for this excellent piece, Marge. It does rather seem like “pigs will fly” now that the GOP is getting behind Cruz. Truth is stranger than fiction, right? 🙂

  5. helenk3 Says:

    this could get interesting

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

FYI – Ted Cruz is going to be on O’Reilly tonight! And no, I don’t usually watch O’Reilly (or Hannity, for that matter), but I will at least dvr it so I can speed through to the good parts. 😀

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

The ignorance of the Trumpanzees about the delegates is stunning. They just scream that Trump is going to be robbed without even understanding the process. It’s very easy really:

The rules are clear – you have to win the votes of 1,237 delegates to win the Republican nomination. It’s like running a marathon – leading after 25.2 miles means nothing. To get across the finish line, alliances will have to be formed. In this, perhaps the most important aspect of accomplishing anything in politics, personal relationships and respect matter. Donald Trump has exhibited an unwillingness and inability to do either.

I would also call it a stunning ignorance. If you are going to participate in a top level game you had best know the rules.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I absolutely could NOT agree more, Marge. I am so sick of hearing them whining that it would be “stealing” the nomination from Trump, or thwarting the will of the people. Apparently they have missed that the VAST majority of “the people” DO NOT WANT TRUMP. Otherwise, he would have met the threshold!!

Same with all the whining Sanders people abt the Superdelegates.

Oh – and I saw an article earlier abt how Obama had fewer popular votes than Clinton did, but he knew how to work the delegate system. So, if Cruz has figured that out (no surprise to me), then he will be the nominee. And Trump can go back to his gold penthouse and sulk.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Helen, this goes right along with the post I have for tomorrow (I had to write it today since our internet/tv/phone service is messing up again, and the tech is coming when I usually write). It is really astonishing, isn’t it? Have you ever seen a President who cared less abt the opinions of those with the expertise? Just incredible…

  9. helenk3 Says:

    Charlie Brown

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

EXCELLENT piece, Helen. Walker absolutely nails it abt Trump and his constant complaints abt being treated “fairly.” It is absurd, absolutely absurd, for him to constantly levy threats based on whether anyone is treating him fairly. As the author noted, and many of us here, he has gotten WAY more benefits than ANY other candidates running, including Clinton. Not exactly “fair, “huh?

  10. justine Says:

I appreciate this website, especially these days.

As someone who is not thrilled with anyone running, and certainly resistant to several, I sit here, discouraged. What’s one to do? : (

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, justine. And I completely understand your dilemma. It is still hard for me to believe who is still standing, in BOTH Parties. I mean, really – SANDERS?!?! Clinton is right – he isn’t even a Democrat. And TRUMP?? For real?! Just boggles the mind.

Yeah, it has been quite a season, hasn’t it? Seriously, though – I am quite concerned abt this nation and the direction we are going considering the hatred and vitriol that seems to escalate with each passing election. Truly disturbing…

Whew. All that said, though – glad you are here! And thank heavens we have each other here! 🙂

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

My respect for Sen. Cruz has gone up given this bill he and 3 other Senators put forth. It is a shame it hasn’t been done before this, but I am glad they are doing it now. I hope it passes:

And Cruz got a better interview with Dana Bash of CNN:
