Insight Into Two Frontrunners *Open Thread*

by

Last night, the wife of Senator Ted Cruz, Heidi Cruz, was on The Kelly File for a lengthy interview, one which offered a lot of insight into one of the Republican frontrunners.

If you haven’t seen it, or if you would like to see it again, here it is:

I knew some things about Heidi Cruz, but I admit, not a lot. I knew she was a hotshot businesswoman and very  successful in her own right. But I didn’t know much about her life story, how and where she grew up, and all of that.

One of the things that struck me about her, besides her obvious intellect, is how humble she is. And she talked about the importance of humility  in the interview, of “doing a job, no matter how big or small,” or words to that effect. That she and Ted fell in love at first sight was endearing, as was her disclosure of just how much Ted likes to play games and watch movies. Clearly, he is not the man the media has portrayed him as being.

There was a lot in that interview, though too much focus on Trump and what Trump has said for my taste. I am sick to death of every interview having so much focused on whatever assholic comment, insinuation, or downright attack, Trump has made lately. Ugh.

Since Kelly mentioned at the end of the interview about going to her Facebook page, I decided to take a look, especially because of all the down votes on Facebook for what I thought was a lovely, revealing interview. Naturally, the Trumpanzees were there en masse to denigrate and demean this woman. It was truly stunning, and disconcerting, including from some people I know who have become Trump supporters. One attack on her was that, “No one is that HOLY.” Well, I never heard her claim she WAS holy, but her faith is clearly at the center of her life, her marriage, and her family. The two are not the same, but it sure makes for a nice little condescending sound byte, or so that person thought.

In any event, I thought the interview with Heidi gave a lot of good insight into Ted Cruz the man, the husband, the father, and friend. As I noted, it was in stark contrast to how the media, Democrats, and Trump like to portray him, but her comments about Cruz fit in with the Texans I know who have experience with him. So there’s that!

And speaking of Insight, and since I mentioned Trump, a SuperPac has a new video out about him that isn’t talking about him, but simply showing what Trump himself has said:

I realize Trump supporters don’t care about what Trump has said, claiming that was then, this is now, even including statements he has made during Republican debates (single payer health care, for example). But others of us DO care because we believe in VETTING out candidates.

But you know who else cares? Democrats, that’s who. David Brock of Media Matters and American Bridge claims to have a TON of “insight” into who and what Trump is. From the Daily Caller:

Hillary Clinton minion David Brock told a secret cabal of liberal donors on Monday that he and his team of opposition researchers have enough derogatory information on Donald Trump to “knock Trump Tower down to the sub-basement.”

Brock, who spoke at an annual gathering of the Democracy Alliance in Santa Monica, Calif., told members of the group that Trump “was not properly vetted by his rivals — or by the press,” Politico reports.

[…]

“We sat on it all so as not to help the candidates who might have been stronger general election candidates,” read Brock’s prepared remarks, which his group American Bridge provided to Politico. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

No kidding Trump wasn’t vetted by the media, by Trump’s rivals, and most definitely not by his supporters. Many of us have said from Day One that there was a LOT about him that was unsavory, and a LOT that was not the least bit Republican since he is essentially a Democrat.

And it is not a surprise at ALL that the Democrats are sitting on all of this material just waiting for Trump to be the nominee. Then they will let fly with both barrels. If you think Trump has been pitching a hissy fit over losing Colorado, just IMAGINE what he will be like when the Democrats start lobbing not the softball questions he has gotten from the media, but real attacks on Trump. He will blow his stack.

Yep, the Democrats know who the weakest candidate is to go up against Hillary, and they will not hold back like the media has up to now. I am guessing we will see a whole lot more along the line of the “Untruth” video above, and the Republicans will have, once again, snatched defeat from victory.

That’s my insight for today. What are your thoughts? This is an Open Thread.

Here’s a little more insight into Donald Trump – he gave NOTHING to charity for FIVE YEARS (h/t Facebook friend): https://www.yahoo.com/tv/donald-trump-gave-0-charity-past-5-years-141420238.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=fb

So the tech showed up a little while ago. After EVERYTHING I unplugged and all the buttons pushed, it turned out the dvr in Suzy’s office needed to have its button pushed. That was it. The tech has NO idea why it would have stopped working yesterday when it had been working earlier. No clue. It just decided to stop. But yeah – he explained that unplugging it is like putting your computer to sleep whereas pushing the button is like re-starting it. Good to know.

    Sigh.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And it went back out again – after an hour. The tech is having his manager review it to see what, if anything, can be done. I think what needs to be done is for us to switch to all-Wi-fi on Verizon, but I could be wrong…

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

No tv for another day. AT&T has to send an outside tech to deal with the line. The guy on the phone today said that he saw we had had U-Verse for a while, and i responded that we had and had had constant problems with it. I think he could see that – all the numerous times we have had to call and get someone out here. Just ridiculous.

There’s a Reason We Live in a Republic

As Ben Franklin said, “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.” Is that the kind of country we want to live in? The founders certainly didn’t, and they rejected it. They understood that a representative republic rooted in constitutional law is best. Our liberties are not determined by the fickle passions of the majority but by the steady rule of law. Under our system, a single sheep is armed with the Constitution to face off two ravenous wolves.

Although I am constantly surprised by the number of citizens of this country that don’t know that we are a “Representative Republic” it is beyond belief that a man that is running to be POTUS doesn’t know. But just chalk that up to one more thing, on a very long list, of the things Trump and the Trumpanzees don’t know.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It is truly astonishing, isn’t it? How in the world can SO many people, including the REPUBLICAN FRONTRUNNER, not know what our system of governance is??? Then these same ignoramuses scream and shout abt how “UNFAIR!!!!” the system is, how wrong it is, not realizing they are revealing their ignorance and stupidity with every yell.

I watched the interview and came away with the same opinion of Heidi Cruz that you did. I have seen her slurred like the Facebook comments you mentioned at NQ for weeks. It is vile.

I don’t particularly like Michelle Obama. But I don’t smear her or go on and on about her. Most of what I don’t like about her comes from differences in our general philosophy. I certainly don’t like the idea that her idea of what our children should eat for their school lunches becomes some kind of unwritten or unvoted upon law. I don’t like the idea that a First Lady has such power. ANY first lady. Especially since even her husband warns people not to get between her and a taco.

That said, those are personal observations and I see nothing vile about them. What many are saying about Heidi Cruz is. Vile.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks, Marge. And I completely agree abt Michelle Obama. I think it is wrong that she has so much power over what kids eat especially since kids refuse to eat the food she dictates to them. Having seen photos of what they get, I don’t blame them! No one should have that much power, as you said, especially when the People’s Representatives are not involved in the decision-making.

But yeah – policy, philosophy, and ideology are one thing. Attacks on who the person is, or who one THINKS the person is, without any substance or proof, says way more abt those making the attacks.

I am glad Kelly gave her the time. It enabled those of us who are thinking people the opportunity to see her for ourselves…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Nothing she says or does will change the minds of the Trumpanzees. Like any cult they cannot, or will not see that what they are doing is wrong. They hate and slander without reason or cessation. It’s ugly.

Many of these people are our former friends and neighbors. Just goes to show you what is buried within people we thought “normal”. Or is this rabid worship of some stupid “Reality Television Personality” the new normal? Who knows.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

In fact, Marge, one of the people being snippy abt Heidi Cruz is someone I knew from NQ. Sigh. And yes, just goes to show you that you just don’t know what really motivates people you thought were “normal.”

And you are right – nothing will dissuade them from their Trump Adoration. As I have said before, they thought it was a GOOD THING when he said he could kill someone and they wouldn’t care. Newsflash: that ain’t good…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That sums it up beautifully. Thanks!

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Ain’t it a pip? Cartoonists are so great! I’ve noticed a slow down of cartoons from Branco and I suspect part of the reason is that LI is under constant attack from Trumpanzees. Or maybe Branco is a Trump fan, who knows. He still manages to skewer Hillary frequently.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I had wondered abt that with Branco, too – why he has been so quiet of late…

And you are right – these cartoonists are just fantastic!

Then we have the usual Trump flip-flop.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I laughed out loud abt it, too – just ridiculous. And yes, it highlights how screwed up the thinking is out of the Trump camp…

  8. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Apparently, Alan Dershowitz was also on The Kelly File last night saying what he has said before: Cruz was one of his smartest students:

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Good for Dershowitz that he told the truth. And fine that he won’t vote for Ted Cruz, he’s a Democrat, I wouldn’t expect him to. Not many liberals would, he’s against almost everything they are for. But at least Dershowitz had the common decency to say that Cruz was brilliant.

I may get banned . posted this in answer to a trumpette

i have listened to the trumpettes here, while i do not agree with them, I try not to attack them.
maybe I have a low tolerance for excuses. For 40 years I have heard them. everything from I need a family leave day tomorrow because my 32nd cousin is sick and needs help. Of course the fact that there was a Raiders game scheduled had nothing to do with it. or I can not work today I have to take my jackass to a show and sell it. My answer was ‘Honey if you want to peddle your ass go for it”.
when trump wins all the delegates because he has 40% of the vote according to him it is because he is the great and powerful OZ. when he loses because he did not put the time or the work into getting delagates it is the party’s fault.
I can hear him now when he loses something to Putin, he is being mean to me.
This is 2008 all over again including the obot mentality

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, yeah – a level headed response like that should DEFINITELY get you banned for calling out the Obot similarity as well as speaking the truth abt Trump. Yep, that oughta do it! 🙂

      Go get em Helen!

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

A friend had this at Facebook. It is by two people who worked directly with Ted Cruz, and why he is the right choice: http://theresurgent.com/why-we-believe-in-ted-cruz-we-were-there/

  12. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

And then there is this well spoken 18 yr old CO delegate on the process in CO (h/t Facebook friend): http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/video/colorado-gop-delegate-trump-insults-voters/vi-BBrGWd6?ocid=sf
