Well, I guess that is ONE way to deal with information you do not want to accept – don’t just shoot the messenger, kill it.
That is PRECISELY what Sen. Jeanne Sheheen wants to do with the House Panel that has unearthed facts about the abhorrent practice of selling baby parts.
But I am getting ahead of myself. This week, a House Panel proved that, yes indeed, abortion clinics are hauling in more money by selling fetal parts, according to a former Federal Prosecutor. The Daily Caller has the story:
Former U.S. prosecutor Brian Lennon told Congress Wednesday “there is proof without a reasonable doubt” abortion clinics and a procurement company illegally profited from the sale of aborted fetuses.
“I believe a competent and ethical prosecutor could determine probable cause that both the abortion clinic and the procurement business violated the statute, aided and abetted one another in violating the statute and likely conspired together to violate the statute,” Lennon testified before the House Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives. “In fact for five or six elements in the subsequent defense, in my opinion, there is proof without a reasonable doubt.”
His statement was based on his review of new exhibits compiled and released by the panel, which was created to investigate the fetal tissue industry in response to allegations Planned Parenthood violated fetal tissue laws banning profit from the exchange of fetuses. As you know, and as the DC article highlights, it is against Federal Law to profit from selling baby parts, BUT – and this is where Planned Parenthood has some wiggle room – clinics can get paid for the parts. Ugh.
As abhorrent as this whole conversation is, there is a difference between compensation and profit. A different Daily Caller article has the charts used by the House Panel:

Frankly, this whole discussion makes me want to simultaneously throw up and cry. Whether one is Pro-Choice or Pro-Life or somewhere in between, discussing buying FETAL PARTS like ordering a new part for your washing machine is appalling.
And then we have Senator Sheheen’s take on the new revelations presented by the House Panel. From Townhall:
A new report from the U.S. House Select Panel on Infant Lives, a committee spearheaded by Rep. Martha Blackburn (R-TN), released a shocking reportTuesday that confirms the Center for Medical Progress’ investigative findings into Planned Parenthood, which was released last summer. The pro-abortion organization is profiting from fetal tissue procurement.
According to Republicans involved in the investigation, a researcher paid a middleman procurement company $3,340 for a fetal brain, $595 for a “baby skull matched to upper and lower limbs,” and $890 for “upper and lower limbs with hands and feet.”
Despite the evidence, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) appeared to testify during Wednesday’s hearing on the report to demand the panel’s disbandment.
“This panel was formed with political motivations,” Shaheen insisted. Blackburn and her fellow panelists have “little interest in unbiased investigation” and are only using the committee as an opportunity to attack health care providers, she continued.
The senator wasn’t quite done, accusing the panel of “undermining women’s access to health care” and being an “inappropriate, misuse of federal resources.”
Or MAYBE, Sen. Sheheen, the House Panelists care about the LAW and this despicable practice of selling baby parts like going into a butcher’s shop and asking for your preferred cut of meat. Honest to God, I have NO idea how in the world we ever got to this place in this country, that fetuses are treated as nothing more than commodities to be cut up and sold off.
And yes, I know about fetal stem cells, of their use in research and possible cures. But I also know that adult stem cells have tremendous efficacy as well, and do not require unethical, immoral, illegal harvesting of cells. So there is that…
Thankfully, Sen. Sheheen did not have the last word in her demand to disband the House Panel for having the audacity to reveal just what Planned Parenthood and other clinic are doing. Sen. Ben Sasse had this to say:
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) followed Shaheen’s testimony and exposed her faulty accusations. The evidence shows Planned Parenthood is profiting from the sale of fetal issue and that “matters.”
“It matters,” he said. “We’re talking about people. It matters because we’re talking about the tiny limbs of little babies.”
On fetal procurement websites, Sasse explained, interested parties can find just about every baby organ for sale.
“Our humanity should be repulsed,” he said.
“Here on this, we can and should agree: Babies are not the sum of their body parts,” he concluded. “They’re meant to be welcomed and nurtured.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)
Yes, our “humanity SHOULD be repulsed.” That it is not is just beyond imagining to me. Especially from a woman.
Personally, I was not able to have children. A bout of ovarian cancer saw to that. That certainly did not prevent me from having a love for children, quite the contrary. I cannot imagine anyone who has had children, or who has wanted children, could see this barbaric practice of ordering baby parts off a list as anything but abhorrent.
But Sheheen was blessed with THREE children, and she can it there testifying that those who are standing up for the law, standing up for these fetuses, are “undermining women’s access to health care.” That is quite a logical leap she is making. Holding these clinics to account for their behavior in no way impedes a woman getting HEALTH CARE. And it certainly undermines her statement on just who is Playing politics here. That would be Sheheen.
It is unfathomable to me that I even have to write a post on this topic, that this kind of thing exists in this day and age. Sadly, it does. And sadly, too many women, especially in the Democratic Party, are going right along with this “industry.”
Frankly, it just makes me sick. How about you?
