Not A Right, And Not A Due *Open Thread*

by

So much gets lost in the craziness that is this Campaign Season. There is one thing that happened last week that I do NOT want to get lost, and that was a House Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on Immigration And Border Security. Probably didn’t hear anything about it, right? Yeah – that’s how the Media rolls these days. If it isn’t helping Trump or Clinton, seems it doesn’t get much play.

But it will here because it is a critical issue for our nation, and this election will matter in this regard. And what will get some play is the Opening Statement by the Chairman of this Subcommittee, none other than the brilliant former Federal Prosecutor, now-Representative from the great state of South Carolina, Trey Gowdy:

No, Illegal Immigration is NOT a “victimless crime.” Nor is coming to this country illegally a right, an entitlement, or a due on the part of US Citizens. So when illegal aliens are protesting outside the Capitol Building, they should all be arrested and deported, dammit. They have no right to be here in the first place, and they sure as HELL have no right DEMANDING that they be entitled to all the benefits and privileges of American citizens.

Moreover, illegal aliens have no right to what often amounts to more lax attention when they commit additional crimes while here, which is the primary focus of Rep. Gowdy’s Opening Statement. And he makes that point abundantly clear, as well as the completely illogical, irrational demands of pro-Illegal Immigrant activists like this Methodist Bishop, in his questioning of the Bishop:

Good for Rep. Gowdy for highlighting how idiotic are some of these arguments from the Pro-Open Border people like the Bishop above, who honestly, does not seem that bright, or at least rational. She just speaks in generalities, and flowery talking points…

Rep. Gowdy sums up these issues very well, and the idiocy of the expectations that our laws should not be followed in the cases of Immigration.

That said, one can hardly blame this Bishop and all the Open Borders people considering our own President, along with the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, she who has thrown her citizens to the ground in service to a MASSIVE influx of “refugees” taking over her nation. I mention these two specifically since they were busy pushing this whole Open Borders nonsense in the European Union this weekend (h/t Facebook friend). Oh, and people are pretty mad about it there, too (I don’t know if Germany has an impeachment clause or not, but they might want to consider one). From BeforeItsNews:

[…]  After talks in the northern town of Hanover where tens of thousands marched Saturday against the planned deal, Obama said the world’s largest trade pact could be finalised by the end of the year.

“Angela and I agree that the United States and the European Union need to keep moving forward with the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations,” Obama said. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

In other words, open borders.

Frankly, this whole mindset is troubling, especially from a US President whose MAIN job is the SECURITY of the Nation. In that regard, Obama has failed in a spectacular fashion, but that he is INTENTIONALLY doing so, especially in terms of throwing wide open our borders, including for criminals and terrorists, is appalling.

But for some reasons, Democrats are hellbent on obliterating what makes us the United States of America. And that sense of entitlement is glaringly obvious in this election season.

One area in which that is obvious is around the pandering to the electorate about jobs and employment. Mitchell Blatt has an EXCELLENT post in The Federalist on just this topic:

Donald Trump says if he were president, he would force companies that outsourced jobs to bring them back to America. Bernie Sanders says he would raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour to put more money into people’s pockets. Occupy Wall Street activist Harrison Schultz said we should all get free houses and he shouldn’t have to work a “menial” job as a dishwasher or a waiter.

All of them share a common viewpoint: Americans should be entitled to material benefits from somebody else. It’s time somebody told them there’s no such thing as a free lunch and no one deserves anything by virtue of his existence.

[…]

But many Americans and their elected officials assume government should do something to help find a job for us or take care of us in the event that we lose a job. Whether it is extending unemployment benefits indefinitely or threatening to slam 45 percent tariffs on imported products put together by people we don’t think deserve a job because they aren’t Americans, the idea is the same: Many want to try to use the government to solve an individual’s problems.

And that is the problem. These people have been taught that the Government should have to take care of every little thing for the citizens instead of citizens having the freedom to take care of ourselves. There is much, much more to this article, and I hope you read it all, especially the part about Mike Rowe, who knows that rejection is part of life, and that you must push on:

[…]  When Rowe was fired, he didn’t ask government to step in and give him “his job” back. He didn’t have the president promising he wouldn’t face competition from Jon Stewart at auditions. Competition is the hallmark of capitalism.

There will be struggles in life. Maybe you might even think it is unfair at times. Life is not a cakewalk. But we must work hard to overcome adversity. Throughout history humans have shown exceptional fortitude to survive and prosper in circumstances much tougher than having to change jobs and move. People can and do find new jobs every day. It’s a mark of bad character to demand the fruits of other people’s labor rather than fulfilling your responsibility to support yourself. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

The bottom line is, no one is due a job, or a house, or a free lunch. No one is entitled to the fruits of the labors of others. No one.

That our young people are being so WOEFULLY prepared for the work force or that so many Americans do not have the fortitude to do the very basics to keep a job (this article highlights both of these concepts, including the “soft skills” people lack of following instructions, passing drug tests, and showing up on time) is troubling indeed. Especially when they then make all kinds of demands they have no right demanding. Just like Illegal Immigrants.

This Election season continues to reveal why it is so important, and why it is so important to elect a capable, intelligent, sober thinker for this position. Our nation’s very borders and being depend on it.

This is an Open Thread.

I think that having Obama as president for 8 years has shown us as we never saw before what the Democrat Party has become. Not the champions of the middle-class or the working poor as they would have you believe. Not the champions of the downtrodden. They are the party that panders to the reckless, the feckless, the n’r do wells and the lazy. They work to make the minority populations both helpless and hopeless.

Sure the government will take care of you from cradle to grave. And there you will sit on the bottom of the food chain for the rest of your life. Free to envy those with more but not willing to do anything but whine about it. Or think that somehow someone that has money somehow took it from you. People that do nothing deserve nothing IMHO>

Marge, I swear to God we are on the same wavelength. I was thinking just this morning that this Dem. Party is NOT the Party to which I belonged most of my life, not even close. That my generation was the “Question Authority” people who have now morphed into the “cradle to grave” people is ASTONISHING, never mind that they are now teaching young people to be dependent on the Government, that they are entitled to a whole host of goods, and that there are apparently no limits to bad behavior. Just amazing…

      Excellent, excellent comment!

I went and fixed some of the typos. Sometimes when I get up on my high horse I type faster than my old fingers can keep up with.

Glad you agree because I am so sick of this crap. These panderers to the whiners are ruining this country.

No this isn’t the party I was a part of. We challenged authority not knuckled under to it for some freebies.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, I totally understand that, Marge!

And yes – I am sick of it, too. Honestly, I am glad my parents aren’t alive to see what has become of this country…

Liberals Want To Break You By Forcing You To Lie

    By Kurt Schlichter

Objective truth is irrelevant to the left. They need you to lie because when you lie you hand them power. And if you refuse to lie, if you try and rely on the fact that the facts support a different conclusion, then you will be hounded and persecuted. But if they can make you lie, then they have broken you.

Oh well. So we have a fight ahead of us, a fight pitting lies against truth, and comfort against our self-respect. So let’s fight.

GREAT article by Schlichter – he is SO right. If you don’t agree with whatever hooey they put out there, then YOU are the villain and must be beaten into oblivion. Again, how did we get to this place?!

And speaking of rights and entitlements, I am pretty damn sure this was NOT the intention of Title IX: http://dailycaller.com/2016/04/25/obama-appointee-to-activists-white-house-aggressively-engaged-in-transgender-fight/

    read this and weep

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Sadly, Helen, I am not surprised by this at all. Obama and the Dems seem hellbent on changing the very nature of our nation, and putting others ahead of Americans. SMH…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Like the Rev I am not surprised. Not even a little. The problem is that so few people know what is going on because the lap dog media refuses to inform them. Our media is simply propaganda for whatever ideology they are espousing at the present time. They are scum!

The anger that is simmering just below the surface, and I’m not talking about the idiot Trumpanzees, is going to erupt some day and it will not be pretty.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is just it, Marge – the media will not report these things more than just in passing. And that is those of us who actually FOLLOW the news. Never mind the majority of people who are too busy texting or following the Kardashians.

You are right – propaganda (via soundbytes) is what people get these days, and most are too lazy to do the least little bit of research to see if they are being told the truth…

I’m glad Trey Gowdy is still hanging in there. I went off him a bit when he endorsed Rubio. I just don’t know what to think about him anymore. To me a straight shooter like Trey should find straight-talking Cruz a natural fit.

The only thing I will not forgive is endorsing Trump. I forgive no one, no place, at no time for that.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I’m glad he is, too. He has such a brilliant legal mind, and I still have hope he will be our next AG. We need someone like him to whip the DOJ back into shape, if you ask me…

I appreciate your concern abt him. I liked Rubio, and saw them together at the Town Hall, so I wasn’t surprised abt the endorsement. There seemed to be a real camaraderie and respect between the two men (and Sen. Scott, too). I imagine that Gowdy, like our Governor, will endorse Cruz. Hope so, anyway.

But on this issue, a voice like his is priceless, and I am glad he speaks out (like “a voice crying in the wilderness…”).

Honestly, how could Cruz NOT be considering Fiorina as VP? I still think that she would be better as Sec. of State, though. She has SO much experience internationally, and is tough as nails, that she would serve the nation well: http://therightscoop.com/watch-ted-cruz-campaign-says-carly-fiorina-being-vetted-for-vp
