I could easily just leave this post at the above summation. It is short, succinct, and tot he point, something for which I am not exactly known (hey, I’m a Southerner. We tell stories, not speak in sound bytes! Oh, and h/t to a Facebook friend for sharing this summation.).
But you know I’ll give you some more detail. From The Daily Wire:
So you’re suckers.
Yes, you conservatives who keep waiting for Donald Trump to turn into Ronald Reagan, who hope to unify behind him thinking that he’ll surround himself with good people and that they will guide him to all the best decisions. Yes, you conservatives who bought into the Trumpian nonsense that he would blow up the system and change things in politics. In the last 24 hours Trump has indeed pivoted – directly against all of his supposedly conservative positions. Here are four examples:
[…]
Trump Won’t Be Self-Funding. Remember that time Trump said he’d self-fund, unlike his rivals? Even as donors signal that they won’t be opening their pocketbooks for Trump, Trump announced that he won’t self-fund his campaign. “I’ll be putting up money,” he said, “but won’t be completely self-funding.” Instead, Trump said he would build a “world-class finance organization.” So all that talk about how people who take donations are being bribed to shill for donors – yeah, all that was patented Trump garbage.
Trump Hires A Former Goldman Sachs Fundraiser Who Managed Money For George Soros. Remember that time Donald Trump suggested that Ted Cruz was in the pocket of Goldman Sachs (“I know the guys at Goldman Sachs, they have total, total control over him”)? Remember Snaggletooth The Trumper™ who told Ted Cruz that Cruz should be wearing his “Goldman jacket”? Now Trump has hired Steve Mnuchin, chairman and CEO of Dune Capital Management LP and former Goldman Sachs partner, to head up his fundraising team. Mnuchin also worked at Soros Fund Management LLC. Yes, that Soros. George Soros. Mnuchin also donated thousands of dollars to Hillary Clinton, among other Democrats; since 1998, he’s donated twice as much money to Democrats as Republicans.Trump Bashes His Own Tax Plan. Remember that tax plan Trump touted as supremely conservative? Yeah, that’s out the window now. Today, asked on CNBC how he could propose tax breaks for high earners, Trump simply dumped his plan. “I am not necessarily a huge fan of that,” said Trump. “I am so much more into the middle class who have just been absolutely forgotten in our country.” Instead, said Trump, his tax plan was merely a starting point for negotiations – just like his position on amnesty. “You know, when you put out a tax plan,” said Trump, “you are going to start negotiating. You don’t say, ‘OK, this is our tax plan, lots of luck, folks.’ There will be negotiation back and forth. And I can see that going up, to be honest with you.” […] (Click here to read the rest.)
Hey, we tried to tell them, did we not? How many times did we tell them he was a Democrat? Until we were blue in the face and sick of being bludgeoned and attacked by people who decided to check their brains at the door this time around, doing their very best Obot impression. Didn’t take long, did it?
Here’s the thing: Trump isn’t the official nominee YET. That doesn’t happen until the Convention. Perhaps the rest of the states who have yet to vote will come to their senses and NOT vote for Trump. And, maybe, just maybe, the DELEGATES will vote for some decent candidate, like Ted Cruz, on the second ballot.
Heck, there is already a list of Third Party candidates being bandied about, which DOES give me some hope. Here are a couple of names from The Hill:
[…] Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.)
The 44-year-old freshman senator from Nebraska has been one of the most vocal opponents to Trump on Capitol Hill.
On Thursday, Sasse penned an open letter on his Facebook page about why voters should not settle for either Trump or Hillary Clinton, and outlined the qualities he wants to see in an independent or third-party candidate.
“Why are we confined to these two terrible options?,” he wrote. “This is America. If both choices stink, we reject them and go bigger. That’s what we do.”
Unfortunately for anti-Trump conservatives, Sasse, who has a young family, says he won’t run himself.
Anti-Trump Republicans are holding out hope he’ll reconsider. Three different people mentioned his name to The Hill on Thursday.
General John Kelly
Anti-Trump conservatives spent months trying to convince Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis, a revered, straight-talking four-star retired Marine Corps general, to launch an independent bid.
Mattis officially took his name out of the running last week.
Now they have their eyes on another tell-it-like-it-is military man: Former U.S. Marine Corps general John Kelly.
Kelly retired in January after more than four decades of service. He spent years in various leadership posts in Iraq and lost a son, former Marine Robert Kelly, to combat in Afghanistan.
Kelly has not spoken publicly about the presidential race and a spokesperson did not return a request for comment about whether he’d be interested. […] (Click here to read the rest.)
There are some more good options in The Hill article. Hell, MOST other options at this point would be far superior to Clinton or Trump.
Like I said- we TOLD them Trump was a Democrat, and every single thing he has done, just in 24 hours, proves we were right. Cannot spell it out any clearer than that. Hell, we don’t even need to do so – Trump is doing it FOR us.
There is still time, right? Gotta hope so, anyway!
This is an Open Thread. Have at it!

Never cared much for Mary Matalin but she shows that she has integrity. Much more than her husband who is still beating the drum for Hillary.

Ryan Shows Trump There’s a Cost to How Trump Does Business
Yesterday Ryan, in publicly saying he will not at this point endorse the presumptive nominee called Trump’s bluff. When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper if he would support Trump, Ryan said “Well, to be perfectly candid with you, Jake, I’m just not ready to do that at this point. I’m not there right now.”
And, with that, maybe Trump is forced to finally start realizing the consequences of how he conducted his campaign, rotten in both personality and policy. There’s a steep cost to the way Trump’s campaign has done its business and he, not Ryan, is going to pay.
Others in GOP leadership should follow Ryan’s lead. They have “leverage “as Trump would say. Get on record now, stating your opposition to Trump and make a demand for him to change. If he doesn’t improve, which he won’t, you are free to run as far away from the Trump train wreck as your legs can carry you.
https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/05/paul-ryan-shows-trump-cost-of-doing-business#sthash.04uKPwi0.dpuf
Who knows, maybe tomorrow Ryan will cave just as McConnell did. But right now it seems to me he is giving the House members his permission to revolt if Trump doesn’t quit being so revolting. For some of us that ship has already long since sailed. And for those that rushed endorse their presumptive nominee it’s too late.
I suspect there will be penalties to pay for being a Trump supporter. Because he just cannot shut his ugly mouth or stop tweeting his insanities.
May 6, 2016 at 10:35 am |
Naturally, Trump is already firing back at Ryan: http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/278928-trump-punches-back-im-not-ready-to-support-ryans-agenda
And then there is this idiocy from a Trump aide, as if Trump already has the nomination and is President: http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/278975-trump-aide-ryan-not-fit-to-be-speaker-if-he-doesnt-support-trump
Trump and his “aides” are seriously screwed in the head, which is why it is so disturbing that he may well be the nominee…
May 6, 2016 at 11:49 am |
That man, Drumpf, is an abomination – any criticism of him warrants a nasty denigration. Paul Ryan is my rep. and there are some things I like about him and others that I disagree about. But this is still a free speech country and poor small hands Drumpf is going to get more and more bad press and disparagement before the month is up.
May 6, 2016 at 1:38 pm |
You ain’t only kidding, piper. And yeah, I would stand with Ryan ANY day before Trump.
You would THINK there was still free speech – except Trump does want to curtail that, so maybe not for much longer…
May 6, 2016 at 2:02 pm |
My rep too Piper. And basically all he said was he wouldn’t support Trump unless Trump shut his ugly mouth and tried to unite the party. All Trump is doing is tearing it further apart.
He’s only been the presumptive nominee for 3 days and the list of his flip-flops, attacks, stupidty and lies is already a mile long. The man is a disaster. I was, am and will be #NeverTrump!

Gee what took him so long to flip on his previous statements. At 9AM, says one thing then 2 hours later he contradicts himself, then in the afternoon goes on to another inane idea and in the evening has another cockamamie thought.
The poor widdle trumpkins are out and about saying if you don’t vote for Drumpf, it’s a vote for Hillary. Well too bad so sad out of the 2 horrible horrible, really horrible evil candidate, she actually looks better to me. However, dementia hasn’t claimed me yet and it’s time to score another first in my life – NOT voting for either presidential candidate this year although I’ll be voting down ticket.
Never means never!!!!!!!
May 6, 2016 at 1:37 pm |
Yes it does, piper. Trump and his minions give me more reasons every single day to not ever be willing to give that man my vote. Never.
My response to those people is that they never should have foisted such an unsuitable candidate on the nation if they really didn’t want Hillary to win. If it is anyone’s fault, it is THEIRS.
May 6, 2016 at 11:43 am |
Before I leave for my bike ride on this beautiful mid 70s day with no rain in sight – one more thought about why GOP allowed Donald to usurp their party – they want to not only get rid of the tea party but to destroy it along with all the legislators they helped to get elected.
May 6, 2016 at 1:33 pm |
Piper, I bet you are exactly right abt that. Wow, if that is true, it says so much abt those who are so entrenched they would allow this nation to go down such a dark road just for payback and to keep their positions…
May 6, 2016 at 2:04 pm |
By the time they get rid of the people they don’t want, and the people that don’t want them leave, there won’t be much of a party left. Some Trumpanzeez, a few white Supremists and the old homeless person just looking to get in out of the weather.

my country will always come ahead of any political party
May 6, 2016 at 2:12 pm |
I feel the same way. And my conscience and integrity are more important to me than any politician let alone a vulgar buffoon like Trump.
May 6, 2016 at 2:33 pm |
Amen to that!!
May 6, 2016 at 1:35 pm |
I say this with all due respect to Hucakabee: he can bite me. As you said, who does he think he is commanding obedience from not just one, but TWO former Presidents?? He has a helluva lot of nerve!
Not for nothing, but as far I know, we still have freedom of thought, speech, and association in this country, do we not? What an ASS he is.
Right there with you, Helen – country first.
May 6, 2016 at 4:32 pm |
Agree. No unity when you support a……………like Drumpf. I’ll wager a small bet that the GOP is seeing the disaster coming this fall and trying to herd everyone including the Bushes into supporting the buffoon.
Sorry Huck and all of the idjits who chose to run when they knew that they have no chance at all of winning the nomination and the WH – this is on you and your egotism.
May 6, 2016 at 4:53 pm |
Huckabee is looking for a payoff or pay back from Drumpf – running as his VP.
May 6, 2016 at 7:13 pm |
I agree, piper – he is definitely looking for a payoff. How he can even look himself in the face is beyond me. I have no respect for him at all now…

Are the Trumpanzees still celebrating or are they all over a various Pro-Cruz and/or Conservative Blogs attacking anyone that won’t now support Trumpertantrum? Guess they don’t understand the meaning of the word never.
That’s “simple” enough that even a Trumpanzee should be able to understand.
May 6, 2016 at 4:41 pm |
Yes with major name calling and insulting people with this meme – if you don’t vote, it’s a vote for Hillary. Too bad so sad, an ass in my book is still an ass and will never ever receive a vote from me.
Basically, the trumpanzees are trying the allinsky method of herding the troops just like the bots did in 2008 – some will get with the program but many are publicly stated that they refuse to vote for an egomaniac buffoon so they’ll sit this election out.
May 6, 2016 at 7:14 pm |
Excellent point – that is PRECISELY what they are trying to do!
And yeah, no kidding – our vote belongs to us, and no one can force us to vote any way but by our own consciences.
May 6, 2016 at 12:47 pm |
guess when you have had several bankruptcies this is how you think

Who are the Libertarian alternatives to Trump?
Publisher Austin Petersen, who is running against Johnson and McAfee, has built a highly professional campaign and was one of the first to reach out to the #NeverTrump Republicans. But many libertarians are wary of Petersen’s more conservative leanings. Petersen would probably be the most natural fit for #NeverTrump Republicans looking for a home.

Trump Already Proving He Doesn’t Think Congress Really Matters
By Katie Pavlich
The problem and disregard for the process came this morning when Trump Spokeswoman Katrina Pierson said during an interview with CNN that if Ryan can’t support Trump, who has been a Democrat until just a few years ago, then he’s unfit to be Speaker.

“The angry insistence — him or her! — is, for the moment, mainly an attempt to forestall further criticism of Trump. That criticism consists of stating a fact that is not a matter of degree but a binary proposition, a yes/no question. It is not that Trump is less mentally stable than Mrs. Clinton (probably true) or that he is more dishonest than Mrs. Clinton (difficult to say) or that he might do even more damage to the republic, or any other point of comparison between the candidates.”

Hit enter before finishing my comment – this is a good article on refuting claims that if you don’t vote for Drumpf, it’s a vote for Hillary. It’s really a 6th grade argument that staves off criticism of him.
May 6, 2016 at 7:16 pm |
That is it exactly. They are definitely trying to silence criticism, and absolve themselves of any responsibility when Trump loses…

Btw, I have been watching HLN for a couple of days now. They are having a bit of Trump on right now (but just for a minute – not his entire speech a la Fox), but they have already had oen Never Trump person on, and they are going to have another one on soon. Generally, there is a whole helluva lot LESS of Trump on that channel, and I actually get some news. What a concept!

Thanks for the heads up. I won’t watch FOX and only catch snippets from the other channels via videos online.
May 7, 2016 at 10:18 am |
Yeah, I won’t watch Fox either. And I was glad to find this HLN channel. I landed on it recently while searching for some decent news channel that wasn’t going to be All Trump All The Time. I have been glad that there are only a few snippets abt Trump – abt the same as everyone else…

are the republicans going to cancel the remaining primaries? and the convention? seems like a waste of money. they and the donald seem to think that it is all over.. why bother?
as the donald told West Virginia don’t bother to vote.
just curious
May 7, 2016 at 10:15 am |
Well, that is what Donald says – and if I was in the other states, I’d be a little angry that people are acting like it is all done. Unless he hits the delegate count, though, it does not seem to be a done deal to me. But yeah – it is amazing how they are acting. Truly embarrassing, if you ask me…

Comments are rather interesting – trying to denigrate Paul Ryan instead of Drumpf, Mr. Make America Great – so everyone should help the small handed man unite the party after all his bashing everybody was just a ploy now let’s kiss and make up. Otherwise all people who refuse to help Donnie will get the blame bec. he’s a good guy with good intentions.

Marge,
Since I’m a Wisconsin transplant (2003), can you tell me when gorebal warming is coming to stay? Yesterday a beautiful day with sunshine, warm temps and clear sky and today at least 25* cooler and blustery high winds.
