Eight-Plus Minutes *Open Thread*

Eight-plus minutes. That is how much time the State Department excised from a press conference on the Iran Deal. Yes, they cut out a bunch of time from the pres conference because it n was a hugely telling moment of the machinations the Obama Administration had employed to conceal the truth of the deal.

To the State Department I have one word to say: WATERGATE.

This is a MAJOR issue, no matter how much the Obama Administration and State Department may want to downplay it. Here is Jake Tapper from CNN presentign the big lies from State (h/t The Right Scoop):

It absolutely should outrage every American what the State Department did. James Rosen of Fox News was at the epicenter of all of this since he was the one who was asking the questions that got cut out, and which Admiral Kirby is now admitting were cut out INTENTIONALLY, not a “glitch,” as they had claimed. Of course, Kirby then tried to downplay them and act as if there were no laws broken and they had no idea who had ordered the time to be cut out. But they’ll take a look. Yeah. Sure. Here is more from the Washington Post:

The embarrassing admission by State Department spokesman John Kirby came three weeks after another spokesperson insisted that a “glitch” had caused the gap, discovered only last month by the reporter whose questioning had mysteriously disappeared.

“This wasn’t a technical glitch, this was a deliberate step to excise the video,” Kirby told reporters.

Kirby said he had not been able to learn who ordered the deletion, which appeared as a jarring, undisguised white flash on the archived video posted on the State Department’s website and in its YouTube video.

“The recipient of the call doesn’t remember anything other than the caller, the individual who called this technician, was passing on a request from someone else within the public affairs bureau,” Kirby said, explaining the faulty memory by adding, “This happened three years ago.” […]

It seems pretty obvious to me that the Watergate connection is blatant, but WaPo did make an interesting point on just that issue. Here is more:

The curious gap in an old video of a public briefing is not of the same ilk as the famous 18  1/2- minute gap in audio tapes of President Nixon’s Oval Office conversations during the Watergate coverup. The official written transcript of the State Department briefing always carried the full exchange.

But it is likely to further fuel controversy over the administration’s nuclear deal with Iran, coming amid allegations that the White House duped the press and misled Congress and foreign policy scholars about the Iran nuclear deal that was implemented in January.

The missing portion of the video came to light in early May when James Rosen of Fox News was preparing a report on White House communications advisor Ben Rhodes, who had boasted to a New York Times Magazine reporter of having created an “echo chamber” to market the Iran nuclear deal and undermine criticisms from opponents. The magazine story said the White House portrayed it as a result of a moderate being elected president of Iran in 2013, when in fact secret talks had been underway since 2011. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

I can concede that point in the one difference, but it also presumes knowledge that there IS more. Considering that State was claiming there was a glitch, and this,  hat, and the other thing, one would have to be James Rosen or one of the other “journalists” in the room to know there was a lot more, and that it was substantive. That it took this long to come out is telling in and of itself.

It is also telling that no one seems to know who ordered this. An article in The Hill today has another ridiculous claim from State on just who that could be. From The Hill:

The State Department on Thursday said it has hit a “dead end” in determining who ordered the deletion of part of a December 2013 press briefing video that addressed the Iran nuclear deal.

“We believe we’ve carried out the necessary investigation. We have hit a dead end in terms of finding out more information,” said State Department spokesman Mark Toner.

Toner also made contradictory statements over whether the identity of the person who relayed the request was known.

“Yes, it was — so the request was — and we sort of know, obviously, who made that request, but that that was passing on a request from somewhere else within the Public Affairs Bureau,” Toner said. “The individual in question here does not remember who told him or her to carry out this order. It was a phone call that took place three years ago. We’re not going to question their memory, but at this point, we believe that we’ve done the forensics.”

Toner also said the technician remembers the gender of the person who called, but that he was “not allowed to share that.”

“We do know that and I’m not allowed to share that,” Toner said. […] (Click here to read the rest.)

Wow, dissemble much?? They won’t even tell us the GENDER of the person who made this request? Are you freakin’ kidding me with this??

There is one person who is not buying this crapola one bit. And she oughta know since she worked in the White House. That would be Dana Perino, and here she is on this claim (h/t The Right Scoop):

No kidding. There is no way they don’t know who it was who ordered this eight plus minute cut, no way in hell. They just don’t want to say. And that says a lot to me.

This is a huge issue. And I hope to hell people like Tapper stay on it, keep talking about it, and keep pushing it. This Administration has gotten away with plenty enough already. Time for that to change.

That’s what I think anyway. How about you? This is an Open Thread.

Now that Tapper has his teeth in it this issue is not just going to go away. If it was only Rosen and FOX then the Obama state department would simply just claim it was FOX going after the poor little President again. But this is CNN and this is Jake Tapper.

Through their unabashed bias towards Trump FOX no longer has much credibility even with many Republicans. Tapper is a different story entirely.

Glad Dana is responding to this since she has the insiders information needed. Bolling there in the background needs to just STHU! His next gig should be as a Sham-Wow salesman. And I would by even that from him.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

ROFL abt Bolling being the Sham-Wow guy. I can SO see him doing that. And no, I wouldn’t buy anything from him either. What a disappointment he is.

Unlike Tapper. You are so right abt him. He has credibility others do not, though I think Rosen is pretty widely respected. Fox News, not so much, not anymore. But Rosen, even though the Administration went after him, did not back down, fade away, or put his tail between his legs. Nope, he continues pushing the questions (in a very respectful manner, I might add).

But yeah – Tapper is one of the good ones. Thank HEAVENS he is turning his attention on this…

Obama may not manage to get out of town with any shred of dignity left.

An investigation into “his” State Department since everyone knows Kerry doesn’t make a move without orders from Obama or Jarrett.

And then there is his “legacy” as the Potty President.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I would love nothing more than for Obama to get the comeuppance he so richly deserves.

And the cartoon is hilarious. It really makes me wonder just why he is pushing this so, so much…

Johns Hopkins Psychiatrist: Support of Transgenderism and Sex-Change Surgery Is ‘Collaborating With Madness’

As Dr. McHugh explains in the chapter “Surgical Sex” in his book The Mind Has Mountains: Reflections on Society and Psychiatry, transgender is a “mental illness,” and to surgically alter someone’s genitalia is to enable a disorder.

“I have witnessed a great deal of damage from sex reassignment,” states Dr. McHugh in his book. “The children transformed from their male constitution into female roles suffered prolonged distress and misery as they sensed their natural attitudes” as males develop.

“As for the adults who came to us [at Johns Hopkins Hospital] claiming to have discovered their ‘true’ sexual identity and to have heard about sex-change operations, we psychiatrists have been distracted from studying the causes and natures of their mental misdirections by preparing them for surgery and for a life in the other sex,” he said.

“We have wasted scientific and technical resources and damaged our professional credibility by collaborating with madness rather than trying to study, cure, and ultimately prevent it,” said Dr. McHugh.

While everyone is focused on the ‘bathroom issue’ obama and his minions are carrying on with their nefarious actions and rewriting rules/regulations that will impact us for years given that the Republicans have no spine and are probably making as much money from these dealings as Obama and his administrators are.
Can you guess that I’m disgusted with all of them – corrupt people only looking out for themselves and not us.

  3. mcnorman Says:

I’m very surprised that Tapper has not disappeared or been forced to retire. I like him. He isn’t obnoxious, but he keeps after the lies. So much of the msm is willing to swallow and keep feeding the bunk to us that we (silly and dumb citizens) obviously cannot handle. If they repeat the lies, perhaps our short term memories will forget to ask the questions again and just say nevermind a la Emily Latella. .

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

You are so right abt the msm in general, mcnorman.

And yes, it is amazing that Tapper is still out there actually reporting the news and keeping the focus on issues like this. I hope he continues to follow this and make it front page news.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I was very surprised when he went to CNN. But they seem to be willing, for the most part, to let Tapper be Tapper. I suspect he has that in his contract.

Lately CNN has actually been acting like a “news” organization some of the time. If they got rid of the Obama pom-pom reporters and actually did a good neutral job I suspect they would soon knock FOX off their pedestal. I know a lot of people who will no longer watch FOX and their slobbering love affair with Trump.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I was too, Marge. Maybe he was promised more free rein there than at ABC News, which we referred to as All Barack Channel. Just a thought!

I don’t like the cheerleading for Obama on CNN, but they do have their moments. HLN isn’t as bad.

      • mcnorman Says:

I was surprised as well about the move to CNN, but then I think about ratings and how many would follow over to CNN.

I will never forgive the Obama Cheerleaders. They are disgrace.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

          Amen to that…

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Start with Blitzer and then begin with one of the dumb blondes and keep going until you have some decent reporters. The country is deeply divided but I suspect that there is a very large center that doesn’t want all the bias from either side. They just want the news and the respect given them that they are capable of drawing their own conclusions.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I have to hope you are right abt that Marge, that there are many in the center who dislike the bias as much as we do…

      • amarissa Says:

I have been watching CNN now more than ever. They are really the least bias at the moment. FOX is unbearable with their Trump romance.

It appears Trump had himself another little meltdown aka Trumpertantrum – This time with Jake Tapper:

Trump LOSES IT in interview with Jake Tapper over judge’s ethnicity!!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Holy freakin’ frijoles – he is seriously unhinged, Marge. I wonder what Tapper thought of him during/after this? Whewie…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, wow, Helen – what a perfect cartoon. Sad, but true.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Isn’t it great how often a cartoon says so succinctly what we try to say with hundreds of words? Or at least I do.
