Last Super Duper Tuesday Primary *Open Thread*

WordPress lost the post I had written for this morning. It may turn up at some point, but for now, it is gone. Infuriating that. In essence, I wrote about this being a historic day since Clinton has secured the nomination for the a Democratic Party with the recent Puerto Rico primary and Superdelegates. She will surely get a bunch more delegates today in the last big Primary.

And I wrote about my Senator, Graham, calling for people like himself to unendorse Trump. Yeah, well, Lindsey, you , McConnell, Ryan, et. al, shouldn’t have jumped on that crazy train in the first place. But yeah, hope springs eternal that maybe the folks in California and the other 5 states will see just what a train wreck Trump is, and give their votes to Cruz. Hey, it could happen.

So, yeah, today is the last major Primary of the year, thank heavens. Maybe Trump’s current self-destruction will make people think twice about voting for Trump at the Convention. As Steve Deace wrote, the delegate don’t HAVE to vote for Trump (h/t Kenoshamarge). They can vote their conscience. Now THERE’S a thought…

Anyway, hopefully my other post will show up, or maybe not. Whatever. Grrr. Stupid WordPress.

Until then, this is your last Super Duper Tuesday Primary Open Thread. Have at it!

waking up is hard to do

    • kenoshamarge Says:

What is asinine is that they ever thought it would work. Trump is clearly unable to use any kind of self-control so why would he allow them to exert it? Duh!

    • piper Says:

A man so demented that he will not change for any reason because his obnoxious behavior works so well for him in business. More and more I see Drumpf’s main reason for running as a Republican is to destroy the party. If this was the Democrats’ ploy to ensure another Presidential win after the disastrous Obama presidency by having democrats vote for the worst republican candidate they have succeeded. Crossover votes in open primaries got him the nod while closed primaries rejected him big time. Many people who I know vote Republican have said that they refuse to vote for him as they definitely see him as the evilest of the 2 candidates.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It sure does seem that way, doesn’t it? And he is thoroughly destroying it. He has set the Republican Party back DECADES (which I mentioned in the Lost Post). And they have NO ONE to blame but themselves for jumping on this Crazy Train. No one.

Another good thread from Thomas Sowell (off to finish cleaning the basement today, a repository of belongings that need to be dumped or donated but of so hard to let go).

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Always love a Sowell piece. You always learn something.

LOL about the cleaning things out. Lou and I usually go to St. Vincent De Paul on Wednesdays – Senior Discount Day. We drop off our donations at the back door and usually haul someone else’s out the front with us when we leave.

I have been doing better about clearing stuff out lately. I still don’t like doing it – sometimes it’s painful, but damn I’ve been a pack rat. I’ve now found floors I haven’t seen in years.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Absolutely – excellent piece by Sowell!

I am abt to pack up a box of baking items for a niece and great-niece. I haven’t used them in ages, doing less of that kind of thing as the ol’ body stopped tolerating standing long enough to make certain things. They both bake, and well, so I am sure they will put them to good use.

Since we are moving once the house is built, I am trying to get as much done now before my surgery as I can and emptying out some kitchen cabinets seems a good way to go. Another niece is coming to visit this weekend with her 3 kids, so she will take the items back up to Charlotte for me.

I have saved all kinds of things, many sentimental, but I also think those of us who grew up poor or with the Depression not in the distant past tend to keep things because you just never know…But I could be wrong!

Loved this paragraph in the article about Graham:

Yes, just so we’re clear, Graham went from “hell no” on Trump to “eh maybe” on Trump to “okay let’s do this” on Trump to “ABANDON THIS SINKING SHIP WOMEN AND CHILDREN AND DONORS FIRST.”

Actually I give Graham credit for this. Other have climbed aboard the Crazy Trump Train and even though they can see what a disaster it is, they stay on board. Graham knows this will not reflect well on him and that he’ll take a lot of flak – but he did it anyway. That took some courage. I applaud that.

    • amarissa Says:

I do too. I like him. The one I can’t understand is McCain.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Graham is a bit too “hawkish” for me but I certainly applaud his stand on this. It took courage.

        Meanwhile Ryan and the others…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I was shocked that Graham endorsed Trump and chimed in on the whole “UNITY!” call. Especially after all the things he said abt him. But he did it anyway.

I am glad that he is realizing what an idiotic, kneekjerk reaction that was, and to jump off the Crazy Train. Sadly, too many others are too entrenched in their positions and won’t do it even though they are helping to destroy the very party they claim to support. It is sheer insanity, and they are willful participants.

Trump Facing Backlash From Supporters After ‘Inexcusable’ Comments About Judge –

Donald Trump is getting hit from every direction over his recent controversial comments regarding the ethnicity of the federal judge presiding over a lawsuit against Trump University that he tripled down on in an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN last Friday.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

It’s abt damn time. What I had written in my Lost Post was that my fantasy is that the voters in CA and New Jersey are going to see what a total jackass Trump really is, and vote for Cruz. Wouldn’t that be awesome? 🙂 Hey, I can hope!!

      • amarissa Says:

My dream is that delegates at the convention decide they do not want to support him and then everyone starts voting for a new candidate such as Romney.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

          I could support that!

        • GinaR Says:

I think we all have the same dream! Only mine has a Cruz/Fiorina ticket. I’ll take Romney, though. Even more happily if he adds Cruz to the ticket!

And for the record, I voted for Ted Cruz in today’s CA primary. But that was the ONLY vote I cast for anyone. I refuse to support any candidate who supports DT and since they all jumped on board the Trump Train – in the name of “party unity” – I decided to jump ship.

          PUMA. Now and forever!

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

OHMYGOSH – that is a dream!! I would so love for those two to be running this country. Wouldn’t that be something?

Sadly, CA fell in line behind Trump. Oh, well…

As he continues to implode, maybe, just maybe the GOP will come to its senses and not allow this to be the candidate to go up against Hillary.

    • piper Says:

Suffering from hoof in mouth disease. Sure alienate key voting blocs and think you’ll have enough angry lofos to win an election.

Agree with everyone here that Republicans are shooting themselves in the party hat.

    • piper Says:

Stole this comment from a poster there.

“The fact of why Trump is before this judge in the first place is getting lost in this conversation. The media and others want to focus on comments of Trump’s not why he is in court to begin with. Trump has made these statements publically so media will focus on that. This case shows that Donald is a FRAUD and CON and he would rip off his fellow Americans for a buck.”

Sheriff David Clarke Tears Into Obama Justice Dept. Over Anti-Trump Rioters: ‘Same Type of Tactics That Were Used in the Jim Crow South’

Here’s what Sheriff Clarke had to say:

This is premeditated organized violence and these are riot-makers that show up at these events. What the mayor said was obviously ridiculous. What I’m ticked off about right now is why Attorney General Loretta Lynch has not dispatched the FBI and dispatched lawyers from the Civil Rights Division to investigate and prosecute and identify people who are using the same type of tactics that were used in the Jim Crow South to frighten and intimidate blacks from participating in the voting process. That’s why this is done — to strike fear and intimidation in the hearts of these people who want to come and hear the candidate of their choice.

This is constitutionally protected. This is a Civil Rights violation, and they are entitled to that same equal rights protection under the law as anybody else or any of the other protected class. It appears to me that the United States Department of Justice doesn’t care what happening because these people are white and they’re Trump supporters.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Sheriff Clarke is absolutely right. There is no excuse for these paid-rioters to be allowed to incite such violence and get off scot-free. Lynch is demonstrating just how biased has become the DOJ…

  10. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Here’s another US Senator, besides Ben Sasse, who won’t endorse Trump:

  11. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, good GRIEF -now Trump is claiming that we didn’t hear what we heard – it is all the media’s fault:

    • amarissa Says:

      He is sick!

    • helenk3 Says:

      backtrack 2

    • kenoshamarge Says:

He doubled down on it and told his surrogates to double down. Now it’s all simply “misconstrued’ and he doesn’t want to talk about it any more. Will the media let him get away with it? The Dems certainly won’t.

This is a disaster and even if he does get away with claiming he didn’t say what he plainly said, more than once, he’ll be saying something equally stupid in no time at all. Steve Deace thinks the only way to salvage his campaign at all is if they somehow convince him to just shut up. I don’t think that will happen but then this whole Trump thing has me totally baffled so…

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

He is really nuts, isn’t he? And yes, it has me baffled, too. I just don’t get it.

And yeah – let’s hope the media actually does its job and holds him accountable for his lies…

  12. amarissa Says:

    Have fun!

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL – it is amazing how she can transform herself, isn’t it? Thanks for the smile!

  13. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Dammit – now I don’t know if I can even support Johnson. WTH?!? (H/t Facebook friend):

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I can’t really “support” him. I just intend to vote for him as a way to show some numbers against the GOP. He’s a bit of a loon if you ask me. The Libertarians had a chance to actually grow their party. Instead they nominated this clown. Go figure. Now you basically have a choice between 3 liberals with one being corrupt in a major way, one being a liar and a lunatic and the 3rd? Looney-Tune.

  16. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

I have to say, this is bittersweet. I began blogging largely because of my support of Hillary Clinton. Now, 8 years later, she has secured the DNC nomination (presumably). She is not the same person as she was then, or who I thought she was.

Anyway – it is essentially a done deal now:

  17. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

  18. piper Says:

Interesting that Fox News gives percentages but not actual number. Well, the truth is that Bernie Sanders actually received more votes than Trump in California – my inference is that California is safely in the Democrat column.

    • piper Says:

Also – approx 5 million people voted in the California primary – small percentage – what does that say given their overall population.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That says so much, piper. I love how so many of these “news” outlets don’t point these things out.

Didn’t Clinton get more votes than Trump in NY, too? Not positive abt that, but I think so…

Wasn’t CA supposed to be SO tight between Clinton and Sanders? Seems it wasn’t as close as they thought it would be.
