Seriously? * Weekend Open Thread *

by

There are some things that I simply cannot take seriously.  Fashion and the image below are two.

Face it ladies, the Fashion Industry has been messing with our heads for generations. We finally manage to figure out what it is we are supposed to wear – and they change it. I realize part of the reason is that they need to get us to throw out everything we now own so that we buy new stuff so they can make more money. I understand that. What I cannot understand is why we comply. Is the Fashion Industry another name for the Borg?

Have you ever taken a good look at what the Fashion Industry want us to wear on our feet? Shouldn’t shoes be at least somewhat foot shaped? Shouldn’t they be somewhat comfortable and not feel like some Medieval torture machine?

Would you actually be interested in putting that thing on the left on your foot? Aside from being tall enough to make you spend you days walking down hill it’s ugly. Butt ugly.

And if the shoes themselves aren’t bad enough they make chairs to look like them. I am not kidding. Seriously do you want shoe shaped furniture?

I suspect that the reason the model in the image above is a mannequin is because there wasn’t enough money to get some flesh and blood woman to pose in that picture. The clothes aren’t actually all that bad, although the shoes are as ugly as modern fashion demands. Mary Janes meet platform meets something I can’t even describe. I think the idea of this image was to hurt your eyes. Why I don’t know but so much of what is called Fashion is a mystery to me.

Remember back in the 1970s when every little old lady in the country had her wardrobe of polyester pantsuits? They took her from home to shopping to church. They were comfortable, washed like a dream and were reasonably priced. Little old ladies loved them.

Enter the fashion industry which declared polyester was bad. Only “real” fabrics like silk and cotton and wool were “fashionable”. They were also far more expensive, many didn’t wash at all well and I don’t know about you but wool makes me itch. It was the end of Polyester Pantsuits, killed by the Fashion Industry and mourned by little old ladies.

Hillary Clinton wears her signature pantsuits but they aren’t polyester. And as one of the uglier ones cost over $12, 000.00 I wouldn’t call them reasonably priced. But she is the type that loved them, frumpy and dumpy.

Here’s a look I bet you can’t wait to try – or maybe not. Is she supposed to be a Zombie? I don’t watch Zombie entertainment because I don’t find half-rotted corpses wandering around entertaining. Sorry, I just don’t.I’m not sure if she’s modeling a hair style or makeup. Neither appeals to me. I don’t want my eyes to look like they did when I got hit in the nose with a softball 60 years ago. The nose looks about the same as mine did back then too. The eyes? Mine were both more purple and green than black. I don’t even know what to say about those eyebrows. Well maybe OMG comes close.

I’ve got an image that I want to use as a test. If you can look at the image I am about to post below and not laugh you’re an old grump.

What in the name of all that’s holy is that? Just give me a clue. I know what the top is, someone spray painted her with Reddi-wip. What she has on the bottom I  would guess are supposed to be some kind of pants. Perhaps pants that were put through a wood chipper. Lucky girl she wasn’t wearing them at the time.  Her hair? More Reddi-wip? Or maybe she forgot to rinse after she lathered. All in all if that is a Fashion Statement it’s one that would have been better left unsaid.

Want to see what happens when a blackbird smashes into a dark haired young woman who’s lost her pants? See below. More ugly shoes to torture and torment your feet and make you the envy of all the other masochistic young Fashionistas!  Seriously, I mean really, really seriously, can you imagine putting any of those shoes on your feet? Have they no consideration for their bodies? The human foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles and tendons. The 52 bones in your feet make up about 25 percent of all the bones in your body. The shoes above are an insult to every one of them.

When you deliberately seek out images of the ridiculous ends to which fashion will go there are way too many images to choose from. I had to winnow them down just to fit this post. The last one I will use is one I think of as the revenge of the butterfly. I don’t know why it’s just the first thing that came into my head when I saw the picture. I’m sure that once washed and dry cleaned she’s a lovely young woman. But it’s really difficult to tell with what ever the hell that is on her head. And her face.  I’m telling you ladies, the Fashion Industry is laughing at us. Have been laughing for generations.

Apparently, the Fashionistas think “The Hunger Games” is a DOCUMENTARY and that it reveals the “cool” way people in the future dress and want to bring it to the 21st century…

i have thought for years that most “fashion” is created by men who hate women. Do you ever see a man in an outfit that makes them suffer to look good?

    • kenoshamarge Says:

That’s very true. What man would be dumb enough to try to stuff his feet into the shoes many women wear daily. I even read that some were stupid enough to have a little toe removed so that their shoes fit better.

That passes stupid and runs right into insane.

a good article. should make us think

I don’t know what to expect from France any more. When their Prime Minister suggests that citizens learn to live with the violence because it’s the “new” norm I would think that French citizens would be terrified.

French Prime Minister: We Must Learn to Live With Terrorism

France, you really need to change your “leadership.” I know, Americans are in a poor position to talk right now, and will be for at least the next 4 years. But is this any way to respond to another horrific attack on your country?

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Once you accept that women can simply rid themselves of a baby because she doesn’t want one at this time anything is possible. And evidently acceptable.

Very clever. And no, I don’t think all pizzas are beautiful. Three of the things I can think of, off the top of my head, that I don’t want to see on my ideal Pizza are anchovies, pineapple and bacon.

I love bacon. Bacon is meat candy and just the smell sends me into a blissful state. But I don’t want it on my pizza or my ice cream. I do have some standards!

Black Vanderbilt Football Player To White Rape Victim: “That’s For 400 Years Of Slavery You B—-”…

“All of the defendants in this case basically have life sentences,” Watkins said. “After they get out of jail or prison they will be on the sex-offender registry for the rest of their lives. That’s a life sentence in and of itself.”

The prison term Watkins handed down was the minimum allowed by law. Batey, 22, must serve all 15 years.

    http://www.weaselzippers.us/283800-black-vanderbilt-football-player-to-white-rape-victim-thats-for-400-years-of-slavery-you-b/

Life sentence? Once this POS “man” is released he will be celebrated in the black community because the victim was white. The worst racism, the worst hate that we have seen since Barack Obama arrived on the scene to fan the flames of racism comes from the AA community. Media won’t report it, most blacks won’t call it by it’s name but it is what it is.

    Obama speaks on race:

    “The police acted stupidly.”

“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

“We may never know what happened in Ferguson.”

“There are very few African-American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me, at least before I was a senator. ”

“I think it’s very hard to untangle the motives of this (Dallas) shooter.”

I am not now and never have been a George Clooney fan. I’ve never understood what all the fuss was about. Since he’s become such a vocal liberal voice I’ve come to detest him. Therefore I am happy to pass on this A.F. Branco cartoon skewering him for the hypocrite he is.

It seems that many people advocating for immigration are fine as long as they live somewhere far away from them. George and his neighbors are becoming concerned as ‘these people’ are trashing their pristine neighborhoods.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Here you see once again the benefits of a “liberal” education. A bunch of cry baby, ignorant, young people who haven’t the sense of a goat.

The Police are going to have to take a long look at fools like these and the fools in the black community, and business that express their contempt and distrust.

Every police officer knows when they step outside their front door in the morning that they may not come home that night. That’s a courage beyond anything I can imagine. So given they are willing to give their lives to do their job perhaps it’s time to do the job only for those that want them to serve and protect. Don’t want cops around? Fine cops should shun you and yours like a Zeta mosquito.

Time for some lessons in reality and in the knowledge that words have consequences.

That’s something the obnoxious fool in the White House has yet to learn in spite of the many times he’s had to walk back crap he’s said whenever Valerie Jarrett let him off his leash.

    Mike Pence’s Towering Hypocrisy

Pence warned us against any “president who acts like, speaks like and is received as a king” — a contemptuous description he used with Obama in mind. But no candidate has ever behaved with a more brazen air of royal prerogative than Trump. And a party whose principles have almost nothing in common with his views has meekly submitted to his majesty.

Kendal Unruh Speaks: How Trump and the RNC Killed Conservatism at the Rules Meeting

“It’s not just about taking a stand and taking a vote, which by the way requires backbone and courage and strength; but to get out there in the midst of this incredibly ugly presidential campaign. And, of course, Donald Trump is responsible: he incites it. Of course, he’s the one doing it because he won on it. Because this is how he wins. And it’s out of fear and intimidation and thug tactics. The stories we have got gotten! I know, I know what I’ve had to go through to take a stand. And the cost is too high. Because this is grassroots people; they’re teachers and mothers and lawyers and they’re not used to being in the spotlight and just being unbelievably ripped apart.”

The intolerant Left: this Dem senator wants to censor climate change skeptics

What “fraud” has been committed? According to Whitehouse, it is the sponsorship by companies such as ExxonMobil of “phony science” supporting climate denial. What “phony science” is he talking about? In a 2006 Corporate Citizenship Report, ExxonMobil (seemingly the main target of this series of investigations) acknowledged that “the risk to society and ecosystems from rising greenhouse gas emissions could be significant” and that “strategies that address the risk need to be developed and implemented.” That doesn’t sound like a denial to me.

    https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/07/intolerant-left-this-dem-senator-wants-to-censor-climate-change-skeptics

If you haven’t run into Sheldon Whitehouse before consider yourself lucky. This liberal lunatic takes liberal lunacy further than most who are outside of an institution. He’s even crazier than Pelosi and Reid if you didn’t think that possible.

Even the littlest state in the union should certainly be able to do better than to send to the United States Senate someone who wants to shut down the 1st Amendment because people don’t agree with him.

    • piper Says:

My thoughts on climate change or whatever – yes we have climate but it’s been around for several thousand years which has seen birth, destruction and death. So what Sheldon – nothing more than another way to control people and make tons of money.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Exactly. The left is becoming more and more totalitarian. Not that the crooks that run the Republican Party are much better.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Ironically, a friend had this link on Facebook earlier today: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2015/05/19/updated-nasa-data-polar-ice-not-receding-after-all/

Yes, human activity contributes SOME to climate change, but the earth has been heating and cooling for ages. As I noted after our trip to Patagonia, just 10,000 years ago, they were 200 meters under the ice. Now it’s all gone. It wasn’t fossil fuels or manufacturing to blame for it, just the way the earth works.

Settled science this is not, and to treat it as such is just ridiculous.

      • kenoshamarge Says:

You cannot convince true believers like Whitehouse with facts. He’s made up his mind and we are all blasphemers for daring to disagree.

He’s enough of a true believer that he would take away our right to free speech. That isn’t a disagreement, that’s totalitarianism.

He’s a tyrant and Rhode Island should be ashamed of itself for electing him.

  13. piper Says:

Fashion, more and more of it seems to be a deep need for attention of low self-esteem people. Kim, the darling of ?????, appeared in a mesh dress revealing the same body I see whenever I look in a mirror – okay not exactly the same body as mine is original equipment but I prefer mystery in clothing to letting it all hang out. Will not post link to Fox nor did I clink on the pic to see her full sized. A person can only take so much when scanning the daily news.

    • piper Says:

I did clink on a link about Pence and family on Lucianne. The Daily Mail had a yuuuuuge pic of the Trumps and Pences families which in many ways was quite revealing. The Trumps including spouses (Trump’s sons share daddy’s fondness for certain types) are all tall (maybe wearing yuuuuuge high heels), willowing and very blonde (which may be Mother Nature or Mother Bleach) while the Mike’s family excluding himself are short and dark haired.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I’ve always thought that the ultra revealing dressers were just crying for attention. And my thought was what will you do once you’ve shown em all ya got?

Like you, I think a little mystery is a good thing. And I never wanted the world to solve all my mystery – only certain someone.

  14. piper Says:

Definitely worth a read – Noemie Emery

‘It’s been a generation or more, but we’ve seen outsider candidates take their parties on wild rides, grabbing the keys to the family vehicle, driving it into ravines and through fences, and bringing it back to the house with dents in the fenders and the headlights knocked out. History may not repeat itself but it rhymes, and couplets abound, what with futile establishments, fervent outsiders, and rancorous egos. Looking back, each of these episodes has a strange, dream-like aspect, as the participants seem to be careening towards catastrophes they see coming but cannot find ways to avoid. Each tells its own story of hapless futility. Let’s look back at them closely and see.

Few establishments had ever seemed stronger than the Republican party’s in 1963, led by Dwight Eisenhower, a beloved, two-term ex-president just three years out of office, and a cadre of golden-boy governors, including George Romney of Michigan and William Scranton of Pennsylvania, the last a particular favorite of the war-hero president. Early on, this group had pegged Barry Goldwater as a possible menace, the head of a group of Western conservatives whom Theodore White, the great chronicler of modern presidential campaigns, referred to as “primitives,” seen as way too far to the right of the rest of the country and much too proactive in foreign affairs. But Goldwater was not the only contender the establishment planned to stop: They also feared New York governor Nelson Rockefeller, whom they considered too liberal and also quite certain to lose the election, having divorced his first wife to marry a much younger woman (who in the course of separating from her first husband had left four quite young children behind). Believing that neither could win, but that both could set off a fight that divided the party, they planned to hold out for a unity candidate, whom all sides could rally around”

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Sadly, now they are reporting 3 dead. This has got to stop. The freakin’ POTUS sides with criminals, lecturing the police and essentially blaming them for the ills of society, telling them all the ways THEY should have to change instead of focusing on those COMMITTING CRIMES, and now we have more police officers assassinated.

I am sickened by this. Absolutely sickened by it.

        • kenoshamarge Says:

All decent people should be sickened. That of course doesn’t include the repulsive POS in the Oval Office.

He and all the other race baiters own this. And they are responsible for the violence since they will not condemn those who commit it. They make excuses. There is no excuse for murder. No cause, no grievance excuses it.

These are armed police officers being gunned down. How safe does that make the average unarmed citizen in their no guns allowed community feel?

  18. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

A former NFL player, Warrick Dunn, knows what the families of the police officers gunned down are feeling. His mother was a police officer in Baton Rouge killed in the line of duty when he was 18. Here is what he has to say abt this violence against police officers: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/07/18/warrick-dunn-pleads-for-peace-in-baton-rouge-having-lived-this-tragedy-before/

    • kenoshamarge Says:

The black community needs more voices like Warrick Dunn and far less of the Sharpton’s, the Jackson’s and other members of the race industry.

Like the good, decent Muslims, the good decent blacks need to stand up and express their disgust and dismay with the murderers in their community. By their silence they express approval.
