👿 A Corrupt Society 👿 Open Thread

People constantly complain about the corruption in our politics and in our media. Who has allowed that to happen? We the people outnumber those scumbag politicians by millions to one. Yet there they are, in charge and debasing our country and it’s people.

We the people watch the liars in the media and many swallow the swill they serve up as “news” hook line and sinker.  Yet when polled people say they don’t trust the media. Anyone besides me see a disconnect? Or am I having a senior moment that doesn’t ever seem to end?

Are the politicians not a reflection of what our society has become? If not how do they get returned to Washington D.C. year after year? Why do polls say that a vast majority of people do not approve of or support the congress or its actions yet incumbents are usually re-elected.

Some are re-elected in spite of being proven unethical, if not criminal. The people in their district or state send them back to congress. Does any person with any claim to integrity vote for a man like Charlie Wrangle?

So what are we going to do about it? In the presidential election in November we will elect one of two of the worst people to ever run for high office to the highest office in our country.

How’s that for corrupt?

If we say we won’t vote for one of them the meme is that we are voting for the other one. How’s that for stupid?2cmuj60.jpg

I know that old women like me are supposed to hate progress. We are supposed to be shocked when everything doesn’t stay the same as it was back in the dark ages when we were young. I’m sorry that so many of us don’t fit that stereotype. That stereotype doesn’t work when many of us were young back in the 60s and that was not an age of innocence. Our youth was spent among those advocating sex, drugs and rock and roll.

We grew up seeing more than our share of nudity and it didn’t shock us. We didn’t approve and neither did society but we didn’t head for the fainting couch. We accepted that a certain percentage of society would always be fundamentally indecent. We watched as the menfolk cheered the sleazy womenfolk on. After all what young man doesn’t approve of willing women?

One of the things that is surprising a lot of people, myself included, is the Trump phenomena. His supporters hear and see so many bad things from and about this horribly flawed human being and they don’t care. That’s the difference between back then and now, we cared and most of us didn’t approve.

Religious leaders who should be preaching the word of God and the love of Jesus are preaching the word of Trump and the love of the Republican Party. It is an affront to all that Christianity stands for and is. They worship the golden calf and see nothing wrong in that.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt.

This is where a corruption leads. If you remember your bible, if you remember the book of Exodus, the Lord was not forgiving of his people. Many died and the rest wandered in the wilderness until the generation that had been corrupt had all died and the people that were left were innocent of that corruption. I fear we are heading for a lot of wilderness wandering of some kind. And not all of us deserve it.

I don’t mean to be preaching a sermon, I’ll leave that to Rev. Amy who has the training and the talent for it. I’m just saying what I’m seeing.

What I am is frightened. Frightened because when I was taught of a loving God I was also taught of an angry God. A God who gave us free will and then punished us when we allowed ourselves to become corrupt. Free will is his gift, corruption is a choice.

I’m not a prude and in my day I loved pretty clothes and clothes that made me look attractive. But I wouldn’t have dreamed of running around with my boobs hanging out above and my bottom hanging out below. I don’t think you need someone to tell you that isn’t right. It’s a thing you feel within. If you respect yourself then you respect your body. You respect it too much to make it a free burlesque show for the world.

If you feel there is nothing wrong with showing the world all ya got, then have the guts and let it all hang out. Don’t hide behind a few teeny little scraps of cloth and pretend that you aren’t an exhibitionist. And don’t whine about being objectified. Have the courage of your convictions or cover up and shut up.

If I had to use one word to describe my feelings about this election, this society at this time I would say: disgust.

I am not saying that there aren’t millions of decent hard working people that feel as disgusted as I feel. I’m not saying that I don’t have some small amount of hope somewhere deep within. Deeper and smaller by the day. I’m saying the house is on fire and we’re worrying about some damn tweets.

Donald Trump is not the worst thing to ever happen to this country. Neither is Hillary Clinton. What is the worst thing to happen to this country, in my opinion, is that so many people will actually vote for one of them.

I can’t vote for McMullen here in Wisconsin. If I could, I would. If the 3rd Party candidates can make a big enough stink it might break some of the strangle hold the two major, and hideously corrupt, parties have on our elections.

Then we need to get the debates, any debates, out of the hands of the media. There will be no honest elections until both of those things are done IMO.

Once again serial liar Barack Obama is caught – surprisingly by the fact checker at the Washington Post. I guess wonders haven’t ceased.

I wonder about how it was worded:

      Three employees removed.

      One 15-day suspension.

One proposed removal that was reversed.

Three employees retired or resigned with disciplinary process pending.

Five employees resigned in lieu of an adverse action or before their disciplinary actions took place.

Two employees were demoted, but their demotions were reversed by the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board.

Obama’s “whole bunch” was evidently 3. I don’t know about anyone else but when I say a “whole bunch” I don’t mean 3.

And what exactly does “removed” mean? Is that fired? Does it mean removed from their previous position and put somewhere else to feed off of the American taxpayer?about

Excellent cartoon depicting our downfall from great men to this despicable character running on the GOP ticket. Still having a hard time understanding how people could actually vote for anyone without vetting them. We truly are sheeple.

I think, believe, that the nomenclatura, aka list, of people who have special privilege is long and consists of most national politicians, media and rich political donors. The laws don’t apply to them like it does to the rest of us.

Because the laws are not applied equally to all citizens we are NOT a nation of laws.

feds to bring criminal contempt charges against Arpaio

    strange times
one person fails to protect classified info and reveals secrets in a paid speech. gets an attagirl, you go run for president.
the other person doing the best he can to protect our borders when feds fail to do so and gets criminal charges filed against him.

    • kenoshamarge Says:

The Obama Administration has been after Arpaio for a long time. Their problem is they are so often defeated in court because they present such flawed or weak cases.

I’m not a big Arpaio fan. I used to be until he became a Trump supporter.

Outstanding post, Marge – absolutely outstanding. And you can preach it any time. You nailed it. Well done!!

Btw, as I noted above, I have power now!! WOOHOO!! I have issues with our power company – they basically have a monopoly and keep increasing our rates, but I have to hand it to them – they really got our power restored QUICKLY.

And our Governor has done a FANTASTIC job of handling this impending disaster from beginning to end. She warned her citizens and told us to get to safety early enough that we were able to do so, and has gotten us the help we need to recover quickly. We had National Guardsmen down at the beach, which was hit VERY hard by Matthew (think FEET of sand on the roads, houses destroyed or damaged, no power, no water, etc.) shortly after Matthew passed through. She has done a great job, and I am actually sorry for term limits in this instance – though I hope she ends up being President one day. She would make a great one…

Thanks for the support as we were displaced by the storm. We are home, safe and sound. Thank heavens!

    • kenoshamarge Says:

So glad you are home safe and sound and with power too. Hooray!

    • piper Says:

So happy about your return. Home is always preferable to hotels. Yes you do have an astute governor who showed compassion and concern instead of empty words and photo ops.

Looked for a cartoon but couldn’t find one that is apt for this storm so I’ll share another Maxine funny.

This is the kind of people with whom Trump surrounds himself. Just nasty, vindictive people: http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/300445-exclusive-trump-campaign-ceo-wanted-to-destroy-ryan

    • kenoshamarge Says:

They just can’t seem to get the idea that it’s Hillary and the Dems they are supposed to defeat. Stupid, stupid, stupid and vindictive.

    • piper Says:

They know from internal polling that they are going to lose probably a crushing defeat so these a******* want to destroy everything and everyone. In his narcissistic deluded mind, Drumpf believes that everyone should have provide funds, campaign staff and massive support bec. he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Of course on the side, give him loads of money for offices, planes and staff which is a joke given his statements about self-funding.

  13. piper Says:

I have a bit of problem believing all these wiki-leaks given how easy it is to doctor / alter any web material. For many years people could access Wikipedia and change the information on various subjects. Also Julian Assange has credibility issues regarding his behavior in Sweden and other countries. If he is innocent of the rape charges why not hire good counsel and fight it out in court. Given Swedish laws / court he likely got off.

  14. piper Says:

‘I think a lot of the way he’s approached this presidential race parallels all of the strengths and weaknesses of his business career, personally and professionally. He’s a profoundly narcissistic person who has been insulated from the realities of his own bad decision‑making by wealth and other people’s needs to kind of glom onto him, and I think he really did repeat so much of his past mistakes throughout this political season. He came into it with an opportunity and an advantage that he could have really built something on. But because of his myriad flaws—you know, he’s financially undisciplined, he’s emotionally and intellectually undisciplined, and he’s incapable of building teams and leading other people, profoundly incapable of those things—he blew those opportunities.

Joy Behar of ‘The View’ Calls Bill’s Victims ‘Tramps.’ Here Are Their Unfiltered Responses.

On Monday, The View co-host Joy Behar went full-on “feminist” when she called former President Bill Clinton’s sexual victims “tramps.”

While discussing Republican nominee Donald Trump bringing along alleged Bill and Hillary Clinton victims Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones to Sunday night’s presidential debate, Behar immediately vilified the victims in order to prop up Hillary, sarcastically noting that the Democratic nominee should have addressed the alleged sexual assault survivors by saying, “I would like to apologize to those tramps who have slept with my husband.”

If you want to see am excellent example of hypocrisy coming from the left look no further than this virulent harpy. In the cesspool that passes as her mind it seems that only women approved of by the left can be victims. Disgusting POS.

NFL Ratings Tanking in Wake of Leftist Moral Exhibitionism

Ratings for the National Football League are off substantially this season, and of course nobody at the league has the slightest idea why. It can’t be due to the ungrateful arrogance of has-been 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, or the increasing politicization of the sport by lefty sportwriters (and they’re all lefties) and ESPN. No, it must be something else:

The NFL has a ratings problem. The causes are many, and the leading cause is certainly up for debate. But that isn’t stopping the NFL from denying that the problem has some controversial undercurrents – or that the problem exists in the first place.

I had nearly stopped watching football before the whole Kaepernick nonsense. As Walsh says, it’s too long and too little “football” sandwiched between way too many commercials. In short, it’s boring. Now it’s an insult to my flag, my country and it’s still boring. Better things to do with my time.
