During presidential elections in the United States, it has become customary for the main candidates (almost always the candidates of the two largest parties, currently the Democratic Party and the Republican Party) to engage in a debate. The topics discussed in the debate are often the most controversial issues of the time, and arguably elections have been nearly decided by these debates (e.g., Nixon vs. Kennedy). Candidate debates are not constitutionally mandated, but it is now considered a de facto election process. The debates are targeted mainly at undecided voters; those who tend not to be partial to any political ideology or party.
Most of us are smart enough to know that the theater we’re presented with are not a debate. In fact most of what is presented to us as debates are not. Most are a chance for networks to raise their ratings, candidates to raise their profile and to throw mud. It’s entertainment for the sheeple who are interested enough to try to gain some information.
Most of the important issues of the day are never mentioned. Often the document that every elected official in Washington D.C. and in the WHITE HOUSE took and oath to protect and defend isn’t even mentioned. That document, The Constitution, also gives the media freedom to become the frauds they have worked so hard to become.
The United States is in a sad state of affairs and nothing proves it more than the two candidates we have. One of whom, be he/she ever so unworthy will soon be President of the United States. Can we have a moment of silence for that?
A majority of people in this country don’t want either one of these horrible people to sit in the Oval Office. Perhaps more of them should have participated in the primary system. Perhaps more of them should have done a little investigating to find out more about the people who will inflict their vision or lack of such on all of us for at least four years. Too busy? Really?
I have watched and listened to bits and pieces of every debate since this horrible election season started. No I have not sat down and watched them on television. I will not contribute even my small bit to the ratings of a media I considered a major part of the problems we have in this nation. I find video clips or I listen to clips played on the radio programs to which I listen.
I find it difficult to listen to the words of serial liars. I find it difficult to listen to people for whom I have nothing but disdain. I find it nearly impossible to believe that I can learn anything from such repulsive, dishonest, and thoroughly immoral people.
Now that the left has become so blatantly corrupt the right wants to join in the fun. Formerly Religious leaders on the right would thunder, self-righteously, from their pulpit, or some television interview of the immorality of those on the left. Bill Clinton in particular was the focus of much of their wrath. Now they tell us we aren’t electing a preacher? WTH?
When this election is over there won’t be many people who aren’t tainted by some association or support or excusing of either one of these two truly reprehensible people. How pathetic is that?
Most people have reached a point where they don’t trust anyone. Not the government, not the politicians and certainly not the media. But sadly, many will still vote for one of the two candidates inflicted upon us by the media and the DNC and the RNC. Why?
How about 3rd party? Can’t do that, it would give your vote to Hillary or Trump. Don’t see the logic in that? Neither does anyone else with a brain but it is common knowledge among the stupid supporters of one or the other of the two degenerates presented by the two major parties.
Don’t think – that’s the last thing any politicians from either major party wants you to do. Just follow the magic letter – the magic “R” for the right and the magic “D” for the left. All will be well. Now wake up as much of your brain as you need to use to function on a daily basis until it’s time to vote again.
Tomorrow we can discuss what happens tonight. Will Hillary manage to remain on her feet for the whole debate? Will Trump keep from putting both feet in his mouth since it’s a given he will stick at least one in his ever open pie-hole.
Once again I won’t be watching. There are reruns of “Fixer Upper” on HGTV to re-watch. A mind is a terrible thing to waste – I don’t intend to waste my few remaining brain cells watching mud-wrestling disguised as politician discussion.
