Here we are – the night before the Election. Dear Lord, I am so sick of this whole Election season. I think this has been the worst one of my entire life, and I ain’t no Spring Chicken.
One of the ways I have made it through, and I am sure this is the case for others of you, is through humor. That is precisely what Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood used as part of their opening for the 50th CMA Awards this past week:
I couldn’t agree more – this Election HAS taken forever. So, so glad that come what may, it will be over – at least for a year or so before people start campaigning for 2020 – tomorrow night. Whew.
So, so glad. So, so sick of this campaign season, the ugliness, the vitriol, the attacks, the relentless ads, all of it.
But before we bid adieu to the 2016 Election, I have to share with you some hilarious Tweets from GQ’s top 100 funniest political tweets (h/t to Steve Deace for reading some of these on his radio show). Honestly, I was literally guffawing at some of these Tweets. People can be so creative and funny – all in just 14 characters. From GQ’s “The 100 Funniest Tweets From The Unending Nightmare That’s Been The 2016 Election“:
People make fun of Ben Carson but he did brain surgery on me in 2006 and I’m here to say that potato chimcham luna pop canoe town fimpy. 3:46 PM – 4 May 2015
A sign language interpreter at a Trump rally just wildly swinging around both middle fingers in all directions as he speaks. 10:22 PM – 31 Aug 2015
I will never forgive Donald Trump for making me feel sorry for Jeb Bush. 9:49 PM – 20 Feb 2016
And last for this post but certainly not least:
With this election we’re simultaneously breaking through the glass ceiling and the rock bottom. We got a really big room now 8:19 PM – 9 Oct 2016
[…] (Click here to read the rest of these hilarious Tweets.)
And there you have it, or at least some of them. Reading through the list was just cracking me up. People can be so funny sometimes.
Finally, I have to share the last SNL Trump v. Clinton opening for this Election Season. I haven’t watched SNL in years, but I have to say, their openings featuring “Clinton and “Trump” are just too funny:
Wasn’t that awesome? Yep, definitely their best work in AGES.
I hope you found some humor in the Tweets as well ad the videos. They are a bit of a respite before the Big Day tomorrow. Then again, no matter WHO takes the Prize on Tuesday, it isn’t going to be Americans. And we are going to need a helluva lot more humor to get through the next four years.
Thank all that is holy that there is only one more day of this 2016 Election Campaign season to go. See you on the flip side.
