🎬 Weekly Wrap-Up 11/18 🎬 Open Thread

Happy Friday! Another week has come and gone and I am full of clichés like that for today.

Has this been a good week?

A bad week?

Has the world improved? Has something happened to make us hopeful?

Many on the left seem to believe the world has ended. They scream and cry and protest about the horrible things President Trump has done. Silly me, I thought Obama was still president and Trump wouldn’t be sworn in, and thus have the power to do anything, until January 20, 2017.

Let’s take a look at what is or isn’t going on …

The cartoonists are still having fun sticking pins in the Fall of the House of Clinton. We can only hope this is not a premature celebration and that the Clintons don’t rise from the dead like other political Zombies. I fear we have not heard the last of Chelsea.

The Michael Ramirez cartoon below is my favorite.

The left, media, Hollywood and politicians is still filled with exploding heads and verbal stupidity over the election of Donald Trump. If I had known how crazy a Trump win would make the left I would might have viewed it differently.

No on second thought I still would have thought crazy Donald winning was a disaster. But I thought corrupt old Hillary would be a disaster too. I could see no upside to a win by either. Now at least I have the fun of watching a bunch of idiots prove that when they took a jackass as their spirit animal it was the right thing to do.

The week has been filled with the sound and fury of lefty rage at a loss they hadn’t thought possible. After all the media had been assuring them for weeks that The Donald would lose in a landslide. Well, maybe a little landslide. Well Hillary would win by a slim margin but win she would. And the media knows. Or maybe not.

Brent Bozell:  The Cracked Crystal Ball of Liberal Celebrities

Leftist stars with their megawatt brains had a cracked crystal ball. They relentlessly insulted Trump as unelectable and were uber-confident that on Election Day we’d see a rout.

In 2011, NBC’s Seth Meyers joked at the White House correspondents dinner — with Trump in attendance — that “Donald Trump has been saying he will run for president as a Republican, which is surprising because I just assumed he was running as a joke.”

Celebrities threatened, promised to leave the country if Trump was elected. I suspect that garnered enough votes to put him over the top.

Henry Payne

It’s almost a little sad that these spoiled Beautiful People had their balloon popped. Try not to point and laugh. ~ Brent Bozell

Now let’s hear from our Commander in Chief:

Just a few weeks ago on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Obama came to read mean tweets about him, one of which said: “President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States. Exclamation point! @realDonaldTrump. Well, @realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president.”

Just add that to the long, the very long, list of things of which Obama has been wrong.

Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor: Keep Protesting Trump!

This is par for the course when it comes to Sotomayor. She has been a reliable judicial activist ever since she was confirmed to the Supreme Court. Before then, Sotomayor made statements that fell in line with leftist ideology, such as: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life” and the “Court of Appeals is where policy is made.”

Sotomayor is voicing support to the anti-Trump protests, revealing her partisanship yet again in a position that is not supposed to be political.

This is an ugly woman. Inside and out. With this kind of attitude she has no right to sit on the highest court in the country. Actually she is unfit for sit on any court. I include traffic court.

Sotomayor and Kagan are two of the reasons so many on the right finally decided they must vote for Trump on the chance that he might give us better justices. They/we knew Hillary would not.

Here’s some news I found this morning clicking around the net:

Trump Chooses Senator Jeff Sessions For Attorney General http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2016/11/18/breaking-jeff-sessions-offered-position-as-attorney-general-n2247600

I didn’t remember, if I ever knew, that Sessions served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama for over a decade before running for the Senate in the 1990s. I’m not sure how I feel about this choice.

Trump team denies reports of plans for Muslim registry. I don’t know what to believe about this. The media is constantly “reporting” lies about Trump and Trump is constantly lying about things he’s said. So it’s a toss up who to believe. In this case I tend to lean towards believing Trump. That’s only because the media is working 24/7 to paint Trump as a racist. I don’t think he is. I think he’s a lunatic but I don’t think he’s a racist.

One last cartoon to show how I’ve felt about this week. You know me and my cartoons and my belief that they say what I want to say only better. So here tis…

And for me…

Thank you Marge for the wrap up. Can you believe the beautiful warm weather we’re experiencing. Bike still in use and won’t be put up until the first snowfall. Nothing worse than seeing a senior skidding on ice and probably falling on her keister.

Naturally my bike is a Trek not a motorcycle (I’m not brave)

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Isn’t this weather great? I thought of you and your bike this morning as the sun was shining through the windows. I went walking in the leaves in the back yard, shuffling my feet like a kid and loving every minute of it.

      • piper Says:

A day in Wisconsin high 60’s in the morning, then wind and cloudy in the afternoon ending with temps in the 40’s and possible snow showers.

Oh well, we all enjoyed it while it lasted.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

LOL – LOVE this image of you, piper! Ahahaha…

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Oh, and glad y’all are having such nice weather! It is in the low 70’s here today – and sunny. Just a gorgeous day (even if we still have some wildfire smoke haze over the marsh).

  2. kenoshamarge Says:

Maybe the Democrats should take a little of their focus off the left coast and the other left coast. There are a whole lot of people out here that they’ve written off, insulted and marginalized.

Yes they won the popular vote – but that’s mostly because of California. And I for one do not want Californians choosing our President – it’s bad enough they get to choose their nasty Senators and Congresscritters.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is exactly right, Marge. An old friend of mine had this thing up at Facebook that this isn’t like shaking hands after a soccer match and congratulating the other side. I replied that it is EXACTLY like that – if your team lost, work HARDER next time.

I also mentioned that it was Dems who made Trump the nominee, and Dems who failed to turn out to vote. So they have NO ONE TO BLAME but themselves.

Moreover, the implication that people who voted for Trump are all a bunch of racists is just offensive. As I pointed out to her, not only are people who disagree with Obama’s policies tired of being called racists and the non-stop race-baiting of Dems, but they oppose his policies, from the regulations to Executive Orders to Obamacare.

That this is the case should give Dems pause – they have lost over 1,000 seats since Obama took office. That should tell them something: http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/306736-dems-hit-new-low-in-state-legislatures

      • kenoshamarge Says:

What they have done with incessant use of the word racist, where it does not apply, is make it less impactful.

Most people on the right who hear someone called a racist just yawn and pay little to no attention.

The left has name-called and lied. And people are sick of it. Even some on the left are sick of it. If they keep it up they’ll lose even more voters and more elections and more state houses and more state legislatures.

I’ve thought many things of Trump and none of them good. I think he’s an arrogant, narcissistic lunatic. But I don’t think he’s a racist. I think Bannon encouraged some on the alt-right to get votes.

  3. kenoshamarge Says:

Donald Sutherland Is Ashamed of White Males

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Nearly half a century ago, Donald Sutherland was a flaming, over-the-top moonbat:

His behavior during the Vietnam War was absolutely unconscionable. Teaming up with Hanoi Jane Fonda, he toured the vicinities of GI bases in what they called the FTA Show, described as a “kind of reverse USO tour designed to undermine the morale of U.S. soldiers fighting in the jungles of Southeast Asia.” FTA stands for “F*ck the Army.”

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

      Good grief…

      • kenoshamarge Says:

Hollywood is truly Hollyweird these days. Sutherland is sick in the head, Robert De Niro says Trump winning is like 9/11, crazy Rob Reiner compares Trump winning to Jews and the Warsaw ghetto in some way that makes no sense to me.

        These people are nuts.

  4. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

BREAKING NEWS: Trump settles the Trump U Fraud Case! Oh, and in case you are keeping score, he said he would never do that. Whatever.

    Here’s the link: http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/306820-ny-announces-25m-settlement-in-trump-university-case

    • kenoshamarge Says:

One thing you can count on with Trump is that he is capable of saying one thing and doing another. How very politician-like that is of him. Sort of like the current POS in residence of the White House.

  5. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Love the post, Marge! Excellent wrap-up to the week!

  6. Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

More breaking news. Pompeo accepts: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/11/18/kansas-congressman-pompeo-tabbed-to-head-cia-fox-news-confirms.html

    • kenoshamarge Says:

I don’t know a whole lot about Pompeo except he reportedly says he’ll get rid of the Iran “deal”. That’s a plus for me.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

That is a plus. He went to West Point and is on the House Intelligence Committee, but he seemed an odd choice given others who likely have a lot more experience.

Then I read this article, and it explains a lot: http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/306834-trump-sends-signal-administration-may-look-like-campaign

        • kenoshamarge Says:

Every one is reading the tea leaves. I suspect there isn’t a whole lot of method to Trump’s madness. Or maybe he’s listening to someone other than the voices in his head.

I’m still in wait and see mode. I think Sessions will probably make a good AG. Other than that, unlike all the pundits who are pontificating, I just don’t know. And neither do they.

          • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

As a friend reminded me, Sessions got all mealy mouthed abt Trump and his sexual predator comments. I know Deace said he would be a good AG. I reckon we’ll see.

And that’s the case with all of these choices, as you noted. We don’t know what the hell is going to happen, or how these people will perform.

I still don’t have much faith in Trump and how he will handle his power. I mean, he took his daughter and son-in-law, two liberal Dems, to meet with the Japanese PM. HUH?? Had Clinton taken Chelsea and her husband, people would have had a lot to say abt it. It is just weird.

And this kind of thing by Megyn Kely is a reminder of how the campaign went: http://therightscoop.com/megyn-kelly-fox-news-exec-ask-trump-campaign-stop-threatening-life-video

So yeah – I don’t have high hopes for someone like Trump, but I have to hope for the best for my country…

  7. kenoshamarge Says:

Chicago Tribune Slams DePaul University For Banning Shapiro

There is a lot of confusion today about the country’s political direction. There is polarization, there are hard feelings. That’s part of life in a democracy. Learning how to confront political differences in a civilized manner is a tough lesson to embrace. Unfortunately, DePaul missed another chance to play the role of enlightened teacher.

  8. kenoshamarge Says:

Ben Shapiro: Media Claim Trump Transition Chaos. Trump’s Way Ahead of Schedule.

Barack Obama didn’t name his picks for Secretary of State, Defense, or Attorney General until December 1, nearly a month after the November 4, 2008 election. George W. Bush didn’t name his picks for State, Defense, or Attorney General until mid-December (December 16 for Colin Powell, December 28 for Donald Rumsfeld, December 22 for John Ashcroft).

Bill Clinton didn’t name his picks for those positions until at least December 22. George H.W. Bush was the fastest off the mark – he named James Baker Secretary of State the day after the November 8 election. Ronald Reagan waited until December 11 to get started; Jimmy Carter waited until December 3.

We’re still waiting on Trump’s State and Defense picks, but he’s already out of the gate with Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General. It’s November 17.

  9. kenoshamarge Says:

The left, with their constant drumbeat of complaints about Trump and what he did or didn’t do, is making people who loathe him, like me defend him. Just because their continual fauxrage is so damn tiresome.

Obama is still president and Trump hasn’t the power to do much of anything except run his mouth and pick his cabinet.

Oh horror of horrors he ditched the press and went out to dinner with his family. I applaud that you stupid jerks. One idiot suggested that he has to take them everywhere even now because he might get assassinated. And the world would end I guess if they weren’t there to report it.

They will cause themselves more grief than they will cause him in the long run IMO. Because those of us who are wait and see #NeverTrumpers are getting very disgusted with the Trump news all the time whiners.

I don’t give a crap what some Hollywood nitwit thinks about anything. Let alone what some Hollywood liberal’s wife, ala Mrs. George Clooney thinks. George Clooney’s wife issues WARNING to Trump!! http://therightscoop.com/george-clooneys-wife-issues-warning-trump/
