🎅 Merry Christmas Cartoons 🎅 Open Thread

by

I’ve yet to find anything I can say that a cartoonist isn’t able to say better. With fewer words and usually with humor.

There are always some cartoons that are filled with vitriol, liked if it’s against the other side and not so much if it’s against your team. But most usually ratchet it back a bit when it comes to Christmas. The nasty is watered down a tad in favor of funny and the old “Peace on Earth – Good Will Towards Men” thing.

Some cartoonists like to make fun of the idiocy of PC in 2016.

In case we think that’s just a cartoon being funny remember that one idiot school principle canceled the annual children’s play – A Christmas Carol – because some idiot parents were offended by  Tiny Tim saying “God Bless Us Everyone.” What kind of a person is offended by someone saying “God Bless All Of Us”?

Political Cartoons by Chip Bok

That’s just sad isn’t it? But I don’t “do” Facebook so maybe that’s just par for the course. And I really don’t like to think my grandchildren are a part of a Mark Zuckerberg world.

Editorial cartoon on Amazon and drones

Can’t imagine the cartoon above in the “olden days” that are my childhood memories but it will be a part of memories of their childhood for the kids today. And since I love shopping at Amazon I will be happy to have my stuff delivered by drone.

Okay, I can’t help myself, here a Christmas cartoon that is political. And it’s a doozy! Love that Glenn McCoy!

Below is another cartoon that is a sign of the times.

Oh-oh, here’s another cartoon with a political theme. Just cant’ help myself. (Don’t try very hard either.)

Cartoons also show us the dark side of the world as seen by Nate Beeler:

And Rick McKee:

Sadly I could post a lot more cartoons that show all too clearly that we do not, in many parts of the world, have Peace on Earth and Good Will Towards Men. I don’t like to dwell on this aspect but I would be less than honest if I didn’t show it.

And around the world, including our own country  many people will heed the title of the cartoon below.

Editorial cartoon on Christmas and Berlin terrorist attackShould we pity the poor Democrats and their determination to win by hook or by crook, by recount or  by trying to intimidate the electors enough to slide the slimy Clintons back into the White House? Santa did not oblige them with their Christmas wish.

I saved the best for last:

Dave Granlund is not  one of my favorite cartoonists. In fact I don’t like most of his cartoons. However the cartoon below is my favorite cartoon of all I’ve seen so far this year.

Marge, you have done it again! I love these cartoons. Your ability to find just the right one to share amazes me. Thank you so much – I loved the last one. I hope that many families get that ind of gift – their beloved service member home safe and sound…

I’m glad you liked the ones I chose. It wasn’t easy since there are so many good ones around.

And the last one was so perfect. It’s funny/odd because I dislike Granlund and his cartoons most of the time. But then he has such lovely ones around every Holiday. He’s got a heart, it’s just covered with liberalism most of the time.

Shapiro: Obama tries to define away reality, but reality wins

Last Friday, President Obama gave his last press conference as commander in chief. Undeterred by his would-be successor’s devastating loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election, unswayed by Republicans’ complete domination of Congress, state legislatures and governor mansions, he maintained his cool and collected self-aggrandizement.

Why not? According to Obama, Obama has been a major success. Perhaps the most hilarious moment of delusion came when he talked about terrorism.

“Over the past eight years, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully executed an attack on our homeland that was directed from overseas,” Obama stated. He then continued, saying no attack has been executed “in a rainstorm with the attacker driving a tractor with one hand, drinking a Miller High Life with the other and wearing a clown nose.”

Obama still thinks he can cover his abysmal record with closely drawn definitions of terrorism. It’s the equivalent of President Bill Clinton saying he’s been faithful to his wife except for certain areas, like sex. It’s technically true so far as it goes, but it doesn’t go very far.

Must-read letter: Ted Cruz calls on Smithsonian to correct Clarence Thomas snub –

In a letter addressed to the African-American museum director, Sen. Cruz described Thomas’ life as “uniquely compelling in the annals of United States history, African-American or otherwise”:

In summary, Justice Thomas climbed from Pin Point, Georgia, prejudice, and poverty to the pinnacle of the legal profession, to where he is now an intellectual leader on a Supreme Court that is more influential than ever in the most powerful nation on earth.

And on top of that, as I can attest from my personal experience as a law clerk at the Supreme Court, he is well known behind the scenes as one of the most jovial, down-to-earth, and gracious personalities to ever don the robe. Stories of his kindness, generosity, and humility abound.

As such, I became deeply disturbed upon learning that Justice Thomas’s moving story and incredible contributions to the country are not even mentioned, much less discussed in detail, in the new museum. Making matters worse, the only reference to Justice Thomas is in regard to a single individual’s controversial accusation against him at his Senate confirmation hearing twenty-five years ago—an accusation that was contradicted by numerous witnesses and rejected by the Washington Post, the Democratic-controlled Senate, and the American public at the time.

I am concerned that millions of Americans, of all ages, races, religions, and walks of life, when passing through this museum, will be subjected to a singular and distorted view of Justice Thomas, an African-American who survived segregation, defeated discrimination, and ascended all the way to the Supreme Court.

CNS News previously reached out to the museum to investigate the reasoning behind Thomas’ alarming absence. The museum’s response indicated that Thomas’ story was one of “many” to be left out.

The discrimination against African Americans that dare to be Conservative continues. Is it not “racist” if they only discriminate against Conservative minorities?
