❓ Sanity Wherefore Art Thou ❓ Open Thread

Having observed this country and the world the past few years, and being a rabid reader of history, I have begun to wonder if maybe it’s me that’s lost my sanity. The reason for that conclusion is that people have been acting like lunatics as long as there have been people.

People have been killing other people because they look different, think different, dress different or even just don’t like the same things. In parts of this world the killing is still a big part of the life of some religious zealots. And they proudly report that they are teaching their children to hate and kill too. Wasn’t like wonderful back in the dark ages where their minds reside?

There is no reason to believe that America would be exempt from the hate. But we tend to frown on the killing part. Or at least some of us frown on it. Others frown on it only if the killing is the “wrong” kind of killing.

Lesson Number One: Killing a black person is bad if it is done by a white person. Blacks killing blacks is not worth a discussion because that doesn’t allow the liberals to depict all black people as victims.

Lesson Number Two: All members of the Republican Party, with a few, very few exceptions, must cower in the corner and feel guilty if they don’t believe Lesson Number One. Or even if they do because if they are Republican and white they are automatically guilty of oppressing black people and if they are Republican and black they are Uncle Tom and Aunt Jemima and traitors to their race. Never forget to yell racist now and then because when all else fails that will send the GOP to their knees.

See how that works? You pay homage to the party that actually fought to keep black people enslaved and you hate the party, the party of Lincoln, that fought and died to free black people. If that isn’t insanity I don’t know what is.

Rule Number Three: Never, ever expect honest reporting from the Main Stream Media. Yes, yes I know they are supposed to “report” the facts to the populace so that they, the people, can make up their own minds about things. Granted that most reporters, and a majority of citizens are more concerned with opinion than fact but that isn’t how it is supposed to work. That’s not the way any sane person would want it to work. Because much as you like it when the reporting gives your opinions as fact there may/will come a time when the reporting gives opposing opinion as facts and you will not like that.

It’s easy enough to just believe that all the reporting is a lie. It isn’t. The problem is that you have to work to find the truth. Many prefer to just crack a beer and watch the game rather than do that. That’s their choice – but their whining should then be ignored.

Actually most whining should be ignored. It would be by a population of adults. But the MSM panders to the liberal whiners, they just don’t call it whining when liberals do it. Liberals have just grievances and issues sayeth the press.

Republicans are liars and whiners. It’s just the way it is. If you don’t like that then you’re a whiner too.

I personally am a life-long complainer. I don’t whine. I bitch, moan, complain and criticize. I generally have my facts straight because I do investigate things as much as I can. Even then I am sometimes wrong but unlike the media and liberals I admit it.

I don’t think I’m wrong about the insanity that is taking over this country. All you need to do is look around.

Large numbers of women marching around with pussy hats on their heads, or dressed in vagina costumes protesting… Just what the hell are they protesting? Ashley Judd, B list actress and political activist was one of the speakers at the protest. Judd performed a poem written by Nashville-area poet Nina Donovan, “Nasty Woman”, to applause from a crowd of women liberals. The poem seem to be protest menstruation. Or something. Judd is, IMO a nasty woman and it has nothing to do with body functions.

Judd evidently thought about running for the Senate to oust Mitch McConnell in Kentucky but decided not. Seems a good idea, the not part, to me since this whackadoodle and her nasty poem showed the whole country just how nuts she is at the “women’s march”. Because bloody sheets and having to throw away your favorite panties is an issue all women are concerned about. Well maybe sane women aren’t.

The insanity of ObamaCare is more of the same coming from the same place – Democrats mistaking wishes for reality. Who would, who could believe the promises of ObamaCare and still believe that it would cost less? To their credit a majority of the American People did not.

Rule Number Four: Promise more, more, more and claim it will cost less. Say that giving money to people will stimulate the economy. Insist that free college is a right.

Considering the value of a “free” government education, K-12, a free college degree would be worth what you paid for it.

Add in the factor that NOTHING is free and you have a country that is losing it’s values and selling them for free stuff. More and more people think that there shouldn’t be all that free stuff for you but that the free stuff for them is a different thing entirely. Insane logic? Absolutely.

I could go on and on about the craziness happening daily, hourly in our country. But you know it as well as I do. I am in search of a politician with a solution. Thus far, no luck.

Roe v. Wade Is A ‘Jealous God’ That Demands Blood And Generates Rage

Is there a constitutional principle so sacrosanct that it can abide no exceptions? Perhaps the First Amendment? Nope. Courts have placed reasonable restrictions on free speech and the practice of religion. You can’t libel someone, nor can you sacrifice live animals. The Second Amendment? No again, as any number of gun laws attest. One can find reasonable exceptions to just about every constitutional principle.

But 30 years ago, trawling through the penumbra and emanations of the Constitution, Justice Harry Blackmun found an inviolable right that had somehow evaded the Founding Fathers: the right to kill a child in utero—mere inches from being fully born, even—for any reason or no reason. Read Roe v. Wade some time; you’ll see it’s a conclusion in search of reasons, an exercise in “raw judicial power,” in the words of dissenting Justice Byron White.

For those who do not want to contribute to WSJ.

Todd Gaziano on Wednesday stepped into a meeting of free-market
attorneys, think tankers and Republican congressional staff to unveil a
big idea. By the time he stepped out, he had reset Washington’s
      regulatory battle lines.

These days Mr. Gaziano is a senior fellow in constitutional law at the Pacific Legal Foundation. But in 1996 he was counsel to then-Republican Rep. David McIntosh. He was intimately involved in drafting and passing a bill Mr. McIntosh
sponsored: the Congressional Review Act. No one knows the law better.

Everyone right now is talking about the CRA, which gives Congress the ability,
with simple majorities, to overrule regulations from the executive
branch. Republicans are eager to use the law, and House Majority Leader
Kevin McCarthy this week unveiled the first five Obama rules that his
      chamber intends to nix.

The accepted wisdom in Washington is that
the CRA can be used only against new regulations, those finalized in
the past 60 legislative days. That gets Republicans back to June, teeing
up 180 rules or so for override. Included are biggies like the Interior
Department’s “streams” rule, the Labor Department’s overtime-pay rule,
and the Environmental Protection Agency’s methane rule.

But what Mr. Gaziano told Republicans on Wednesday was that the CRA grants them
far greater powers, including the extraordinary ability to overrule
regulations even back to the start of the Obama administration. The CRA
also would allow the GOP to dismantle these regulations quickly, and to
ensure those rules can’t come back, even under a future Democratic
      president. No kidding. …

Great post, Marge. I am constantly reminded of how much I overestimate my fellow citizens. That certainly has a way to mess with my sanity levels! 🙂

So it seems likely indeed that hundreds of thousands of non-citizens (over eight hundred thousand) may have voted for Hillary Cliinton: http://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2017/01/27/study-800000-noncitizens-voted-for-hillary-clinton-n2277734

Wow, that makes me mad. Democrats have indeed enabled people who have no business in the voting booth to get a ballot. That is sooo wrong…

OH – cervical epidural and two shoulder MRIs done. Back home resting after it all…

    • kenoshamarge Says:

Oh my goodness – you certainly had a day of it. Although I often get a lot of stuff done at one time to get it over with. It play havoc with my body and my disposition but its done. At least until the next time. My sympathy my friend.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

Thanks so much, Marge – I appreciate it! And yeah, that was exactly it I already had the epidural scheduled when I was prescribed the MRIs. Since we live almost an hour away, we try to double (or triple) things up whenever we can.

ROTFL abt “Maxine” – that is too funny!

I have to say, one thing abt the hospital system I am in (it is Catholic, btw) is that the people are all VERY nice. This morning, the woman registering me for the epidural went ahead and registered me for the MRIs too. How nice was that? Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait too long for that, so that was good…

Now I am supposed to take it easy for 24 hrs. I am trying my best!

  5. kenoshamarge Says:

And about those 800,000 illegal votes for Hillary, I’m not a bit surprised. Trump would have been right if he hadn’t inflated the numbers so much.

Although I did hear a clip of him saying that none of them would have voted for him. He was just upset about there being so many illegal votes. He also mentioned the dead voting and other cheating. I agree with him. The Dems always say there isn’t any cheating. The Dems always lie IMO.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy Says:

The claim by many Republicans that Dems don’t want Voter ID because they benefit from it seems to be accurate.

And if the voting rolls can be cleansed of dead people voting and illegal immigrants voting, I am ALL for it!

Rep Gabbard the lady who went to talk to Assad and drove her fellow lawmakers nuts will be on Tucker tonight.
I should be interesting to listen to what she has to say
